PP/CO issue - Costing Run.

Dear SAP GURU,
Understand that there's Material Cost Estimate Without Quantity Structure.
Really appreciate you guy can share the following :
From CO/PP Point of view,
1) Can we Costing run without BOM but with Master Recipe ? Since there's Work Center & Activity type.
2) Before Costing Run , What if Production made misstake created , Release & Confirm the Process Order ?
3) Cost Estimate with Quantity is to calculate non-order-related, What if Order related ?Should we use Cost Estimate witout quantity structure?
From PP Point of view,
4)What's the major problem that will affect the BOM Explosion during costing run ?
5) What is Major issue will impact Costing Run (beside Master Data) ?
Thank you.

Dear,
Don't ask too many questions in one thread also this thread is relevant for CO forum So please use correct forum.
1) Can we Costing run without BOM but with Master Recipe ? Since there's Work Center & Activity type.
Yes you can.
2) Before Costing Run , What if Production made misstake created , Release & Confirm the Process Order ?
See In this case system will do the valuation as per the price given in material master.
3)What's the major problem that will affect the BOM Explosion during costing run ?
There could be many problem but few listed problems are Lot size validity date, Status of BOM. Cost relevancy indicator.
4) What is Major issue will impact Costing Run (beside Master Data) ?
Same as per question 3.
Hope it will help you.

  • Strange issue encountered when doing costing run

    Dear experts,
I encountered a strange problem when doing costign run use CK40N.
I created a costing run on 23.12.2010 In the costing  run the validity was set  from 01.01.2011 to 31.12.2011, I did all the steps except release, all steps were done successfully
I released costing run on 01.01.2011, but when I hit a material to check the costing date, found the costing was only avaliable to 31.01.2011 not 31.12.2011.
I was wondering if any actions or modifications done will affact on the costing date of material?
Have you ever meet this problems?
    Please give me some help.
Thanks for your time and concern.
    Regards,
    Anna

    Hi Sarada & ajay
    Thanks for your comment.
    The most strange thing is...
When I display costing run, the valid to date is 31.12.2011, but in material, it shows 31.01.2011....
I did test again, to change the valid to date in CK40N of the costing run, but the result is, date in material alway the same with what displayed in costing run in T-code CK40N.
One more information, we usually do costing run per month, and we just change to valid date to end of year from 2011.
At first I thought it might have some relation with modifications to costing variant, but after doing test, the modifications will not affect.
The valid date in material should always be the same with what displayed in costing run.
And after the first step 'Selection' in costing run, the date will not be changed.
So I could not come out with any idea with issue......

  • Costing run Issue

    Hi costing Gurus,
           I am having a multilevel BOM for eg. A (FERT) -> B (HALB) -> C (HALB) -> D (HALB) -> E (HALB) -> F (ROH).
All Halb have the procurement type "X" and in a month I can purchase F and produce my FG or purchase E and produce my FG  or  purchase D and produce my FG.
    The issue is,
When I do costing run, then system always takes the price of mat. F and different stage conversion cost posting the same to FG even if we did't purchase mat.F in that month.
    My requirement is,
    1. In a multi level BOM, if I purchase any halb then costing should automatically start from this purchase mat and run till FG.
    2. If I purchase two materials eg D and E in a month then system should do costing run from mat. E but for D it should take purchase price and update in mat. master and run till FG.
    3. In one particular month, I am purchasing mat. F and producing E,D,C and B but not A (fert) then costing should start from F and run till B and for A only previous mat. master price should be updated for current price after costing run.
I am noting costing Guy pls guide me.

  • Costing Run issue PP

    Dear All,
According to my client's requirement there are two plant sf02 and sf04..SF04 is going to procure the material and and transfer that to SF02 for producing, for this they needed this to be through MRP run in sf02. I have involved the concept of special procurement key here and maintained SPK 40 in Raw material of SF02 and extended the same material to both the plants so that while MRP is run it will automatically trigger SF04 for requirement, STO is generated and transfer is done. I have kept do not cost for the raw material in sf04. Everything is running smoothly production is done. Costing run is done in SF02 for the finished material, at that time Raw material cost from  SF04 is picked..
I want to that is this behavior of the system right? or else there is some configuration missing ....
    Please suggest ASAP..
    Regards,
    Pawan Shetty

    Hi Pawan,
Yeah, this is  systems standard behaviour. We too have similar business process. We alos add freight cost in addition to stanandard cost  through O/H key.May be this not  relavat to your question but just additional info in case you need.

  • No Error Log generated in 'Costing' step in Costing Run (CK40N)

In the Costing Run, when the 'Costing' step is run (after 'Material selection'  and 'BOM Explosion' steps), it gives a hard stop when it encounters the 1st error, instead of completing the 'Costing ' step and giving an Error Log with material information and nature of errors. This makes it very cumbersome to resolve all the errors.
In the Costing Variant setting in config, the u2018Save Error Log' indicator has been checked.
Please let me know if I am missing something.
    Venkat

    Hi Vimal,
Your proposal does not resolve the issue. I found OSS Note 375901, which addresses this issue - see below
:In Customizing for the costing variant (Transaction OKKN) in the tab "Misc.", you chose "Messages online" for the Error Management option.
    Solution
Change the error management for the costing variant to
    "Log and Save Messages..."
    Many thanks for your inputs.

  • Short Dump while executing costing run or production orders

    Hi Guys,
While executing the costing run or production orders saving, we are getting short dump.  it is the debugging is showing its fingers at A035 which is related to maintenance of overhead rates.
We have maintained the overhead rates correctly. There is no issue.
This could be some thing related to OSS notes as well.
Just wanted to know if it has got something to do with OSS notes or something else.
Please throw some light in this regard
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
In what program there is a dump? I mean, what is the log saying?

  • Costing Run Error

    Hi All,
I am currently trying to roll cost for materials but have an error that i can not seem to resolve, i hope someone can assist me and help me understand.
While rolling the cost for a specific material the MFG Overhead cost is not being calculated correctly, i have looked at the routings for this material and do see where the error might stem from, but i do not think it can be corrected from there.
The error is that in the routing the cost for MFG Overhead is calculated by adding Labour (1H) and Setup (0.017) and MFG Overhead = 1.017.  The lot size of this material is 300 but when roll up the cost with CK11N per unit the Set up value is 0.003 but the MFG Overhead does not calculate in the same fashion it remains as 1.017 (it should be 1.017/300 = 0.0033 ) This is causing a massive discrepancy in costing.  Now one solution is that the amount can be corrected externally and then update the routing and run the costing, but there will be an issue if the lot size is increased in the future (instead of 300 the lot size is increased to 400, now the routing will have to be change to 1.017/400 = 0.0025).  How can i correct the logic within SAP?  I have tried configuring the costing sheet, but i am not not sure where to change it.  In my costing run i am using costing variant PPC1.
I have tried being as detailed as possible, and i hope it is coherent.
I would really appreciate you help and points will be awarded.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Althea,
    Thank you for your response.
In the routing we have removed the MFG Overhead and now are using the Costing Sheet to calculate the Overhead.  I think i have updated everything, eg costing sheet, costing sheet components, percentage overhead rates, costing variants.  But now the requirement has changed again!!!! Just when you think you have crawled your way out of a ditch, someone pulls you back in.
In the legacy system they were able to calculate overhead in relation to cost centers ( Setup, Labor and Overhead for 403, Setup, Labor and Overhead for 403B and for 407 etc), but in the costing sheet you can only enter one cost center, is it possible to enter multiple cost centers and where would i do that?
Now i had a cost element for Overhead, but in the cost element category was incorrectly selected as 43 (Internal activity allocation) instead of 41 (Overhead rates) now when i am trying to use select that Cost Element in the Costing Sheet under the credit area it will not allow me to save it.  I have created a new cost element but i am not certain what the impact might be
    Please help!!!
    Thanks in advance

  • CK11n Costing Run does not pull purchasing price from info record.

    Hi,
I have material which is a semi finished product (Material type: SEMI) and is purchased from a fixed vendor (specified in the source list).
The costing run does not pick up the purchasing price from the purchasing info record but
instead incorrectly picks up the standard price from the material master (Costing 2 view).
Can you please help me solve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Ketan

    Execute OPL1
    or
SPRo>>IMG>>Controlling>>Product Cost Controlling>>Cost Object Controlling>>Product Cost by Order>>manufacturing Order>>Check Costing Variants for Manufacturing Orders (PP)
Select the costing variant in the table from "Change Costing Variant: Overview" Overview Screen
    Click Detail Button
Click Valuation Variant Button in the Control Tab
Change View Valaution Variant Detail Screen Appears
In Material Valuation Tab Set Price from Purchase Inforecord as Priority 1 if you want to use Price from Purchase Inforecord for semi-finished product during CK11N
You can list down Priority 2 to 5 depending on your requirement
    This would solve your problem

  • Costing run with values for material from info record.

    Hi All
there is requirement with my client, that when i run my costing run the values of the components in BOM should be from the latest purchase order.
For this i am maintined valuation criteria as price from info record and sub strategy as gross price from PO.
When i am create a PO the info record is created automatically in background. So when i run costing run the value is picked correctly.
Now when i create a PO with same material from diff vendor the info record is generated, but on costing run it picks the value from the info record of earlier vendor. For this i go and check the conditions tab in info record, ensure its balnk and save it. Again generate new PO and then run a costing run. This time the system reads the latest info record.
My problem is that i want to ensure that during the costing run, system should read the latest info record w/o manual intervention. System behaviour is not consistent when there is multiple vendor and same material info records. Sometimes it pick up the value and sometimes it refers the old info record.
Can any one help me out in resolving this issue. Its critical.
    Regards
    Rakesh

    Hi!
Generally first info records will be created with vendor, then PO will be created, based on info records price, price will be updated in PO.
If you have more than one vendor for same material, you have to create info records for each vendor. then you need to maintain source list, where you can fix the vendor. If there is no fix vendor, then you can do schedule agreement with vendors, where you have to give proportionate percentages again each vendor.
    Now for costing run :
    1. if you have only one info record, the price will take from that info record.
    2. if you have more than one info record, you need to mantain source list, where you can tick the fixed vendor, then system will take price from that vendor info record.
    3. if there is no fixed vendor and you have maintained scehduel agreement with weightage to vendor, then higher percentage vendor info record price will be picked up.
    4. if you have more info reocrds, not maintianed source list or schedule agreement, price will be picked up from first info record ( based on info record creation date).
    5. if you have a schedule agreement, but you have given equal weightage for example 50% and 50%, then also system will pick up from first info record.
i think it is clear now.

  • Restrict all goods movements for materials untill the latest costing run ex

    Hi dudes,
1 here i have a requirement that i need to restrict all goods movements in the month for all materials(SFG,FG) untill the latest costing run(standard cost estimate) on 1st of each month.
    2. Can we restrict the status of process order in such a way that Conformation can be done only after the goods issues against production order. The goods receipt can be done only after the conformation of the process order.
    Thanks in advance.
    Robert.

    Robert,
Procedurally you can block, by not opening the current period, before the costing run is completed, just when you wanted to release the cost estimate, at that time you can lock all users and then open the next period and then release your cost estimate and then unlock all the users. You need to work with your Basis/MM/FICO guys to have this procedure implemented.
On the GI Check before confirmation and Confirmation check before GR, you can use Confirmation and GR releated User exits to check. There are many posts on this topic, a simple search on this forum would take you to the thread.

  • Incorrect Cost in the Cost Run -  Recursive Indicator in the BOM.

    Dear All,
We have an issue with few materials where in the Cost run cost is incorrect. On Further analysis we got to know that this is because the recursive flags set for in the costing BOMs caused the incorrect cost.I just want to know if any one of you have encountered this type of issue and how you fixed this issue. Please let me know.

  • At the time of cost run CK40N, cost relese in previous month.

    Hi,
At the time of cost run CK40N, executing today or previous (05.04.2010). But Cost release in previouse month 31.03.2010.
I tried but system not allowing and saving the varient in previous period(31.03.2010).
Please provide solution and little biturgent. If any clarifiaction ask i will explain in detail.

    Hi Sreekanth,
We also faced the same issue with CK40N costing in previous month. What happened is that during testing in quality the new month started and the system is not allowing back date release. So we have to now open and close periods in MMPV and OB52 which is not possible because MM postings are pending. So the new costing release has to be carried after opening and closing of periods.

  • Costing Run for all Hub Plants

I just want to understand from you regarding your Monthly Costing Run for all Plants.Actually we have Plant 5000 (Ruwais) which is our Manufacturing Plant having BOM.
We have two other Plants 7000 ( Shanghai ) and 7100 ( Singapore ) these are our Hub Plants not Manufacturing Plants and having no BOMs.
When we run our Monthly Costing Run for Plant 5000 using TCode (CK40N), it’s completes smoothly without any error.
We have to create a material cost estimate in monthly basis using TCode (KKPAN) before we execute cost estimate for both Plants 7000 & 7100.
We see these runs at the months end as very time consuming and we are not manage on time set for such update in SAP as part of the month end procedure.

    Hello Yasir,
In our system I see that PC01 and PC02 are the same for cross plant costing:
1 - Future Cost Estimate - valid for fiscal year
2 - Current Cost Estimate - no age restriction
3 - Previous Cost estimate - no age restriction
If your system is set this way, then for cross plant costing, it does not make a difference which one you use.
If all plants are in one company code then the currency should be the same in all, so P rate should not be an issue.
Take one part number: What period and FY is your current cost estimate? What are the validity dates?
go to CK11n, input the part number; <b>hub plant</b> number and create cost estimate.
On the Tab "QTY STRUCT."  you should see only Special procurement data, the plant number should be the mfg plant.
Look at the Costing Structure.  Top level should be the part in hub plant.
The first level below should be the part in the mfg plant.
theTosts should be the same and I would expect it to be the same as the current cost estimate.  (Pay attention to the currency)
If the first level from the mfg plant is not the same as the current cost estimate, you will need to figure out where that cost estimate is coming from.
If you would like to send screen shots of your cost estimate screens, give me your e-mail and I will contact you with pictures of what I expect to see.

  • Price update step in Costing run to other prices probelm - Very urgent ...

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me why does it updates only 1100 materials prices to commercial price though costing has been carried for 7900 materials? I have selected the price to be updated to commercial price 1 and as said above only 1100 only are shown under materials and 6800 materials are shown as still open in my costing run
I have looked into it, it appears to me that its becos of materials without quantity structure, their prices are not getting update to other prices
If anyone has any clue or infact a solution for this issue, please do help me
    Thanks in advance
    Kumar

    Hi Suraj,
thanks a lot for ur quick reply. I think ur reply has answered most of my question, however in my costing run I have selected all the materials in my plant, meaning the materials which are purchased (no quantity structure/raw materials)also. So from ur reply I understand that for the raw materials or materials with no qnty structure the prices are not updated in the material master to other prices but, if it is a std cost estimate, mark, release process then it updates the future, current stnd prices right?
Please confirm me on that, bcos I have used a different costing variant from a regular one that I use for std cost est. I have defined the variant with costing type "ad hoc for commercial price" and with update as "other than std price". I want to make sure is the problem discussed above is due to my costing variant customization or is it bcos in price update function materials with no qnty sturcture are not updated in material master?
    Your help is highly appreciated

  • Delete Costing Run through CK44

    Hi,
Please guide me on the below issue:-
If I want to delete other than CURRENT and PREVIOUS Costing Run, is it any inconsistency arising in the future.
Please give me clarity on the above issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards
    Srinivas

    Dear Srinivas,
Yes , there is a inconsistency if any cost difference happen. Otherwise there is no effect.
Once you delete costing run for the past period , then you have to run reorganization of  cost estimates using the transaction code CKR1.
Then you have to do costing  run using transaction code CK11n.
In case STD Cost has been changed with current costing run .
Then  you have to cancel MIGO with document number .
The difference amount go to PRD A/c.
    Thanks
