PP CS6 same settings as sequence created from source clip ...

If there is documentation on this one, let me know, I didn't see anything at a glance. I am trying to educate myself on PP CS6 and encoding when one selects same settings as sequence on export where the sequence was created from a clip. (And also just trying to understand the basics of encoding, codecs, formats, containers, etc. generally speaking.) Keep in mind I am coming from a consumer level of understanding and prior used another editor that had "smart rendering" whereby if you selected an output matching a clip it matched everything and encode only what changed. My source video in this case is from a Countour+ helmet camera unit: 1280x720, 59.94, progressive, .mov, "avc1" codec and H.264 reported by Gspot. Let me know if you need more information.
Ok so when I do an export as noted above I see PP selecting "MPEG Preview" for the format and "MPEG I-Frame" for the codec, both options grayed out. If I run gspot I get the same width, height, frame rate, etc. as the original source clips only gspot reports the format is mpeg-2. I was expecting to see the mpeg-4/h.264 like the source video. Is this result to be expected?
Secondarily, if your goal was to have a file that can play on your Sony PS3 (and a PC), what settings would you choose for export if you wanted to have the highest quality result?

Jim - you were spot-on. Here's the response from Dropcam, in case anyone else had the same issue:
You are actually correct in that the frame rate for Dropcam's video does vary depending on a few factors. The fps slows down for night vision to average out image noise and increase the image quality. The fps will also slow down when there is no motion going on in a scene to conserve bandwidth.

DVCPROHD Clips lose sync when added from subclip but not from source clips?

I am cutting with 1080P DVCPROHD.
I have sub clipped all the master clips.
However when I add footage to the time line from the sub clips it comes into the time line out-sync...WAY out of syn.
However if I find my shot in the sub clip...then match frame to the source clip before I edit to the time line the sync is solid?
Whats the deal?
Anyone get anything similar?

Is there a way to create a sequence automatically from a clips settings?

I know you can go in and look at the settings and manually input them into the sequence, but I wondered if there was a way to ideally cntrl click (or something like that) the imported clip and "create new sequence" using the clip settings rather than doing it manually?
If there's not a way to do this, it would be a really handy feature for those of us dealing with multiple formats.

About as close as you can get is to right-click on a single clip and Make Multiclip Sequence. Hit OK to make an sequence out of the single clip. Open the sequence made and delete the multiclip and edit the clip you want back into the sequence.

Sequence playout with source clip timecodes?

What I want is actually quite simple, but it's more difficult then I thaught.
Our cameraman has shot al lot of material onto Panasonic P2 cards (and copied them on to a Harddrive). And now I need to make a rushes playout with burned in timecode. (and i don't want to render)
All the clips have timecode from itself (time of day). Is it possible to create a playout with those timecodes instead of the master sequence timecode? (a little bit like freerun) With the use a digibeta recorder to read the timecode from de rs422 port (and then crash rec on a dvdrecorder)
Anybody who can help me?

YOu want to output the sequence, and have the deck record the timecode that exists on the clips themselves? So that you then make a tape of all the P2 footage and retain the P2 footage TC?
Sorry, I don't know of any edit system that does that. Timeline timecode, or pre-striped TC only.

In/out markers being set in the sequence instead of source clip

Here's what's happening:
1) I open a clip in the source monitor
2) I set the in/out points of a subclip and drag it to the timeline, no problem
3) I scroll around in the source monitor, finding a new clip
4) I hit in/out and try to drag the clip from the source monitor
5) The original clip is dragged over and I notice that the in/out points were set on my sequence instead of my source monitor.
The issue seems to be that focus doesn't follow the mouse intuitively? The focused/highlighted window remains the sequence even if I'm actively scrolling around in the source monitor and even if I hit in/out keys while the cursor is in the source monitor window -- the only way I can get the source monitor to be the focus is if I explicitly click on it.
I've only recently upgraded after some time over in FCP-land, but I feel as though this didn't seem to happen to me in previous versions of Premiere. Is there a preference or anything I can do to enable this to work? Many thanks in advance if anyone has ideas.

That's normal. If you want to keep focus on the Source Monitor, use the Insert or Overlay Edit commands instead of dragging.

Error Displaying Portlet Preview created from Content Server templates

I created portlet from content server announcement portlet template.Whet put on the page this portlet shows the following error message:

Same error with portlet created from the news template.

If the link exists in TOA01, why is the dosumnet not visible ? When i use the Function Module ARCHIVOBJECT_DISPLAY, i get the error -

From Sourcing Cockpit all PO should go in HELD status

Hi all,
When I am specifying the missing data in SC from Sourcing Cockpit, Its creating a PO and has been ordered.
Now my requirement is when ever a PO is created from Sourcing Cockpit it should go in Held state so that the Purchaser can have a control on it from "process purchase Order".
I am trying with BBP_DOC_SAVE_BADI but after updating the status of the PO here the follow on document not getting created and the I could get a PO number by the system which does not exist in DB.
Have anybody achieved this by any process. Do let me know.

I proposed a solution to Diego for similar requirement (Send all the PO documents to BBP_POC ?), but never got any answer neither reward !!!!
Here it is:
you have 2 solutions to accomplish this:
- modify standard code of include LBBP_PD_SCF0X used to create PO from SOCO, by changing parameter 'i_save' to gc_no:
CALL FUNCTION 'BBP_PD_PO_CREATE'
EXPORTING
i_header = is_po_header
i_src_guid = iv_src_guid
i_src_object_type = iv_src_object_type
i_testrun = iv_simulate
i_save = gc_yes
i_park = gc_yes "try to park if save not possible

- use BADI Check for BUS2201 to raise an error message if transaction code (SY-TCODE) = BBPSOCO01. So the PO will be parked and will wait for purchaser action.
I think the last solution is the best and should work.

Create Editable Sequence Preset from Clip

Hi,
I want to reverse engineer a sequence preset so that I can down-res the final video but utilize the same codec/playback settings from the full res file. Is there a way to create an editable Sequence preset off of clip setting? I see how the sequence can get set to the settings of the original file (by dropping it into a blank sequence and choosing "Change Sequence settings...") but not how to edit them after that.
Is this possible?

I had thought about that but wasn't sure if the "Playback Settings" button would come into play but it appears that it's always disabled. Would there be a case where that would need to be clicked/edited?

Are you trying to Print to PDF or are you trying to Print a PDF file to a physical printer?

Can anybody help with this problem when trying to authenticate on the Microsoft Exchange Sever.
I have been trying to connect the mail client on the IPAD2 to my company email (Exchange 2007 server)
There appears to be an issue with the SSL settings for the IPAD 2 and Apples new OS
I know that it’s not supported but I also know that the previous version of the IPAD worked fine using the same settings.
Just to confirm I can access the email via Safari therefore I know that the Public Key is loaded in the web browser.
Can anyone confirm that the Public Key has been installed on the IPAD 2 email client?
Is there anyway to edit the SSL settings?

Try using Static IP and force a connection.
You can get the settings from your other devices that are connected to the router.

How to find out the Sequence settings of a created sequence?

I have had a problem come up a few times where I am switching back and forth from one format to another, I frequently work on multiple edits, and my sound goes out of sync. This is usually because the sequence is set wrong (from when I switch and forget to change it back) and when exported it compresses the audio wrong. How do you find out what the settings are for a sequence you are working on when it's open in the FCP timeline? I'm looking for a quick way to rule out the sequence as part of the audio sync problem.

Or Command-0. What about Easy Setups? I use them routinely so that I don't have to think about setups. Once the setup is saved and properly used, all the settings for sequences and hardware are easily made for you.

I have two PDF documents that show a sample business card in PDF.
One was apparently created through illustrator and is the focument for the printers ... it is this document that shows a completely different colour to the one that is in the other PDF that was apparently created in Acrobat. Though designers assure me that they are exactly the same patenone and that it's the software interpretting it.
What i dont understand is why the colours would look different using the software from the same company....and why designers would put up with this as a basic layman it just looks plain wrong to me.

View Menu -> Sort Photos is a good way to start.
Some organising possibilities in iPhoto:
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
I keyword on a
Who
What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
File -> New Smart Album
set it to 'All"
title contains Seattle
keyword is mountain
keyword is snow
rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
New Smart Album
Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.
