PPD's for Mac
Hi!
Sorry to ask here, but can't find suitable ppd for Mac OS X, particularly.
Printer is Canon iR1133if. Canon official ppd driver does not work. I was reported, can't try it myself, don't have a Mac.
Any suggestions to find a ppd's? Experiences?

Many Mac PPDs reference plugins or filters that must be installed on the Mac. These help to describe and take advantage of features of the printer. Sometimes you can simply remark out these references in the PPDs and then the PPD will work, but if you have options features on your printer, they might not be available to you when you print.
Otherwise, install the driver package on the Mac first, then install the printer via iPrint. The PPD will see that the needed plugins and filters are present and the printer agent will install.
Maybe someday the iPrint guys will figure out how to install the entire driver package to a Mac from the driver store similar to way it works in Windows.

LarsI do see the share printer, so it works to "add it as a new" printer, but it do not automatically detect correct drivers som I am trying different drivers, but it do not work. As said, I do see the printjob come up on the printerqueue on the PC.
Then I saw below on sourceforge.net, regarding gutenprint drivers for this printer, seems that there are non gutenprint drivers, and probably not in the future either..
I am also in contact with HP support, but they are really useless in providing help/support...
So a bit tired on this!. Thank you for your hints and tips!

The Gutenprint drivers do not support this device. There are Mac OS X drivers on the HP website.
This printer seems to use a host based driver with JBIG based on what I can find in the software technical reference for the product. It is doubtful that Gutenprint will ever support this printer. -

I have tried trashing Adobe Reader and reinstalling, and removing the library files for the browser plugin and reinstalling.The file is 18 MB, which obviously exceeds what your form will allow me to paste. Here are the entires for September 5:

Has anyone managed to deploy Acrobat Pro 9.0 for Mac through ARD?
Has anyone managed to get Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 for Mac to deploy with any level of reliability through tools such as Apple Remote Desktop?
The main CS3 apps are "better", if still kludgy to deploy somewhat silently, but every time I've tried to get Acrobat Pro 9.0 to deploy, it steadfastly refuses to do so without demanding admin access on at least the first launch, and insisting on running the Updater in the process, which is completely unacceptable.
I should say that I've looked at their Adobe Acrobat deployment site (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/solutions/it/), and it's entirely useless for the Mac version.
Why do Adobe make this so hard?Okay, I think I've figured this out.
* On a clean machine (ie: no Adobe software), install Adobe Acrobat Pro
* Run Acrobat. Insert license code. Allow it to "selfheal". Quit.
* Run Distiller. Allow it to "selfheal". Quit.
* Edit AcroEFGPro90.plist and AcroEFGDist90.plist which can be found in Contents > MacOS within the Acrobat and Distiller apps respectively.
* Change the "Requires" tags from "YES" to "NO" for all the file resources.
* Copy these to plist files into /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/ and overwrite the ones that are already there.
* Run Acrobat and Distiller again. Allow "selfheal" if prompted. Quit.
* Run again. Quit.
* Build a Mac OS X installer package of the following:
/Applications/Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0
/Applications/Utilites/Adobe Utilities
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/
/Library/Application Support/FLEXnet*
/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.*
/Library/Preferences/FLEXnet*
/Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
/Library/Printers/PPD Plugins/Adobe*
/Library/Printers/PPDs/.../.../.../ADPDF9.PPD (one per language)

* After you've built the package, go through the Acrobat application bundle and find cupshup.pl. Copy it into the Resources folder of the installer package, and rename it to "postflight" (this gets the installer to configure the PDF printer).
* Distribute through ARD.
* Grab com.adobe.* from ~/Library/Preferences
* Distribute the com.adobe.* files to all users; the .plist files can be done through Workgroup Manager, however com.adobe.118.registration must be copied as-is into the user folder, rather than being injected via MCX or the defaults command or any other method, as it's not a plist.

Ricoh has a PPD for the Aficio 3245C which you can obtain from here. But to use this PPD your 3245C must have the Postscript kit installed, which appears to be an option in some regions. So you will need to confirm if the Postscript kit is installed before can use the PPD.
If the 3245C does not have the Postscript then you could look at using the pxlcolor-Ricoh driver provided by The Linux Foundation. -
Opening animated gif in PSE 8 for Mac
I am switching from PSE for PC to PSE 8 for Mac.
I have always been able to open animated gif as layers and work with them, then resave as an updated animated gif.
WIth PSE 8 for Mac, I get a pop up that the file is animated and can only see the top frame. Any ideas on how to open up all of the frames in layers?Do I need to enable this process for my Mac? Maybe I'm missing a plug-in or update?
I have been opening these files from others, tweeking and resaving for almost 2 years in PSE. It definitely will not shuffle the individual panels on an animated gif into the layers box.
My tweeking usually involves adjusting frame speed. Is that what you mean by 'frame rate'?

I'm trying to add multiple lines (in the form of a list) in a individual cell in Excel for MAC. I used ALT Enter on my PC but that doesn't work on the iMac. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks!It's been a while but I think you hold SHIFT while typing a page break (RETURN) to make a new line without shifting to another cell.

What about OSX 10.11 "El Capitian"?
In the last few weeks I've seen some folks asking about 10.11, which is currently available as a pre-release. At the moment, SAV 9.2.7 *should* work if SAV is already installed before you upgrade, but the install will fail if you attempt to install a fresh copy post-upgrade. That said, we'll be releasing another update for SAV prior to the official release of 10.11 "El Capitain" which will ensure full compatibility, so at the moment we recommend upgrading with caution.

I have nook for mac loaded on my macbook pro. When I try to open a book or magazine nothing happens. I`ve downloaded the nook program twice thinking it was a bad download but to no avail. Any help?
I found the following suggested fix, posted by a user on Barnes & Noble's site:
1. Create a folder in your Applications folder, call it: NOOKforMac
Once you've done this, copy the Nook app to this folder. This should allow the app to run on the 1st or possibly second attempt to launch it.
2. Once you're done using the app always quit it by clicking on the X (red in some cases) button of the application window (upper left hand corner)
This seems to have resolved the issue and my guess is that somehow the .dmg volume path is somewhere hard coded in the app configuration.
Elsewhere in that thread, the administrator advises calling Customer Service Team at 1-800-THE-BOOK (1-800-843-2665) and choose option 2 for Digital Support.

Want to use my ipod for Mac @ home and PC @ work....
I have a Mac at home and have my ipod set up for the Mac I guess. So I brought the ipod to work today to hook it up to itunes here on my PC, but itunes says only Windows formatted ipods can be used and that I have to do a restore on my ipod to use it.
I thought you could use the ipod on multiple computers? I thought it didn't matter if it was set for Mac or PC because you could still use it on both.
Any help? I want to connect my ipod at work so I can get the music on this computer. Thanks!!Windows computers cannot read the file format the iPods are in when they are formatted for Mac use. However, Macs can read the Fat32 file format that the iPods go in when they are formatted for Windows.
To use the iPod with both computers, you'll have to first restore the iPod on your Windows computer (putting the iPod into Windows format).
The only downside is if there is an iPod software update, you won't be able to install that to the iPod from the Mac, just from Windows computers. -
How to format an external drive for mac AND pc use
i want to format my external drive so i can use it on my mac and on pc's as well. i've gathered that the MS-DOS format is the way to go. my question is this: would this create any problems for my mac then?
can i partion one part for ms-dos and part for macos extended?

-j-MS-DOS format (or FAT32) will be fine for both Mac and PC. However there is a 4GB file size limit with FAT32.
You could use a dual partition, however the HFS+ partition would not be readable by the PC unless you installed the third party MacDrive.

I have an external hard drive - WD My Passport FOR MAC. I want to format it to work on both mac and windows. I also want to be able to connect it to my TV and watch movies.
I read up and I think I am supposed to use exFAT or FAT32? I also saw MS-DOS. Which format should I should use? Will any of them cause damage to the files on the hard drive?
My little memory stick uses MS-DOS and it works on both mac and windows.

If you need to carry large files (e.g., larger than about 4GB) back and forth, you may need ExFAT. Otherwise MS-DOS works for smaller files.
The Mac can Read, but not write Windows New Technology File System (NTFS) without an add-on program such as Paragon NTFS. -
I have a MacBook Pro and an 1TB WD my passport for mac. I bought a second hard drive to act as back up and when I went to do this the original passport won't mount. It is showing in disc utility but it will not repair. I am told the mac cannot repair it and I need to back up the files and then restore the hard drive. But I can't open the hard drive to move the files onto the new one!
Help me please. I am not very technical so please answer as if I have no clue!! This hard drive has my iPhoto on it and all my pictures of my son, wedding and my current photography course so I desperate to get it back!

My PC hard drive died and I have replaced it. Need to import the music on my classic iPod, but get a message that it's synced with another library (old hard drive). How do I import the music onto the new hard drive? Senuti (one respondent's suggestion) is just for macs. I have no old hard drive to copy to the new hard drive (another respondent's suggestion.)

Just received the Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 / Premiere Elements 9 bundle and found out the hard way that Premiere Elements 9 is not compatible with my iMac OS 10.6.5. I mistakenly thought that it was. Now what to do? I'm hoping that there is a fix on the near horizon....anyone know?

PattiProblem solved! Okay, I'm relieved but embarrassed...it was a user error. Premiere Elements 9 is compatible with Mac osx 10.6.5 and it was a big oversight on my part in the install process. There are 2 discs for Mac, 2 for Windows versions. The first one contains both PE9 and PEP9 programs, while the second disc contains extra content for Premiere. I had loaded the PE9 and then put the 2nd disc in, thinking I was installing PEP9 program. Because I hadn't finished installing from the first disc (it doesn't automatically take you back to the beginning to get the other program), the data needed for the 2nd disc was absent. So was my mind, apparently! I do think that if there were more detailed install instructions in the booklet, it would have been helpful. However, reading your responses spurred me to on to find the root of the issue...thanks for all your help. My little advice...try not to venture into unknown computer territory when overtired.
