My ArtZ II is on a Win2K supplemental computer. I think that the main reason that I keep it around is the 12 x 12 ArtZ II.
Next workstation will probably force that comupter into a closet and my beloved ArtZ II will probably go with it...
Even on my laptop out on the patio, if I have to do almost anything in PS, or Painter, I'll go grab my Intuos 2 and hook it up, even though it's a 9 x 12 and a bit big for the patio table (works fine on my various desktop situations though). I cannot be without my tablets, though I am not a fan of the Wacom mice that I have tried (2 still in the box). Best mouse is my Logitec cordless (hated its keyboard and got rid of it in a second), which has nice weight, the right feel for my hand and is just great. Still, I only use it for the duties that the Wacom is not the best at. If I open up PS, or Painter, the mouse sits idle.

This is quite an open suggestion, but here are some ideas which might get you started. There are good HD cameras in your price range from Sony, Panasonic and Canon (and maybe other manufacturers). Tapeless formats vary. I have only worked with Sony XDCAM which seems pretty good to me. File sizes for material shot at 35MBS are not too huge and, with the free Sony transfer and conversion programme, are easy to bring into the computer via USB direct from the camera or from a fairly inexpensive converter. The Sony XDCAM EX3 can produce results well up to broadcast quality.
As to hardware, you'll need a powerful MAC - iMac, Macbook Pro or MacPro with 4GB or more of RAM and a good video card. Softwarewise, FCPX is quite a bit cheaper than FC Studio 3 and of course it's 64bit and can make better use of multi-core machines than FCP7. It's also designed to handle HD formats with less hassle than FCP7 and is matched to the latest versions of Motion and Compressor. But you'd probably be wise to search reviews of FCPX before you make your choice - it has some issues.
A good HD monitor will be essential and, for colour correction etc, you may want to consider a second monitor or HD TV foe editing. ( A MacPro is generally the best machine to connect a second monitor to).
This should give you a good editing system, but there are many other things you could add (Photoshop, professional sound monitors, etc)

Your image history (if I understand you properly) is stored in your catalog file, and nowhere else, and so it is only on a single drive.
Do you mean you have edited photos on multiple drives? This isn't a problem for Lightroom at all, the software doesn't care, and you can leave things just the way they are. But if it bothers you for some reason, you can move the photos to a single drive if you want. In Lightroom select the desired photos or folders (it's easier to do this using Folders) and drag them to the desired drive.

Which profile is "best" depends on what you want to do with your pictures afterwards. Assuming you plan to keep as many options as possible without compromising on quality, then selecting RAW format and the "Adobe RGB" profile in the camera are best - in that order of importance. Next, RAW files only yield excellent quality if they are properly processed; this takes the appropriate skills and competence as the foremost ingredient – and also a decent RAW converter software such as, for example, Photoshop Lightroom or Capture NX 2 for your Nikon SLR. This expands the range of selectable working colour spaces and profiles that can be embedded upon exporting your files.
Lightroom uses "Pro Photo RGB" natively because it has the largest gamut of those most commonly used in the professional field. The obvious advantage of a large colour space comes at a price however: To retain the finer nuances, data must be stored at 16 bit depth per channel which doubles the file size and is not compatible with compression methods such as JPEG. So if photos are exported after the editing, it is often advisable to convert them to a smaller colour space, either Adobe RGB, sRGB (for general or web use respectively) or the particular printer's profile for direct output.
Capture NX 2 works similarly; here, you can actually select any installed ICC profile for the working space and override the camera setting that is embedded in (but not applied to) the RAW file. For reasons too numerous and too scientific to elaborate here, my favourite working space profile is eciRGB v2 which is also recommended for professional imaging workflows by the European Colour Initiative (ECI). Among the distinct advantages of eciRGB v2 over Adobe RGB, it has a D50 (5000 Kelvin) white point and an L* lightness curve instead of a gamma curve; this translates to a significantly better match with typical printing spaces (Adobe RGB can clip some pure ink colours even in relatively small offset printing spaces, e.g. ISO coated v2) and coding efficiency for 8-bit-per-channel data (which means less problems with soft gradients or skin tones because the L* curve closely matches human perception).

Could someone from support please post a credible fix for the fact that the Dreamweaver preview feature hasn't worked since FF3.6 came out, and still won't work in FF3.6.10

Ever since FF3.6 came out there has been an issue with the Dreamweaver preview feature. As a result, I uninstalled 3.6 and am hanging out with 3.5.9 until this issue is resolved. Every time a new version of Firefox comes out I do a Google search to see if the issue has been resolved. I just did another search, and as of 9/23/10 with FF3.6.10 this issue is still not resolved. Could Firefox Support please provide a credible article about resolving this issue. People have been posting about it for years, and the only useful advice I have seen is for people to go back to 3.5.9 !?
I am currently working with Mac OS10.4.11, and DW CS3, but I have seen people post about having this issue with Mac OS10.5 and DW CS4 and other configurations, so the problem seems pretty universal.

10.6.8 software update won't reboot. It replaces the Apple logo with a circle with a diagonal line though it. What's the best course of action from here?

I used software update last night and my iMac didn't restart afterwards. I spun the little "dashed" wheel for a bit and then replaced the Apple Logo with a slashed circle symbol. I"ve tried several fixes without success and would like to know what my best approach might be.
I've tried to boot into single user mode but that failed the same as above. I've tried disk verify and repair permissions using Disk Utility, again without success in fixing the problem.

What you can do is backup your Users folders to another external drive (not TimeMachine) first so you have your files outside of TM. Disconnect this drive for safety reasons.
Then hold c and boot off the OS X 10.6 installer disk and simply reinstall OS X on top of the installed version, then use the 10.6.8 Combo Update here

That should replace the troubled kext file with a fresh version.
This shouldn't bother your files or third party programs unless they have kext files or other "hooks" into OS X, if these programs fail, then just reinstall them from fresh sources and/or update to reinstall their missing parts.
Consider cloning your boot drive to a external HFS+ journaled formatted drive with Carbon Copy Cloner.

Help with CLASSPATH variable please

Please, help to set up my classpath variable. I know I know I have guidelines in API but I don't achieve it, I'm so clumsy.
I've formated my hard disk and installed everything again, but the classpath is wrong because I can't compile my java files.
I've tried with this:
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\scr.zip;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\javac.exe;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\java.exe
I've also tried with the same lines but unnaming files (finishing with '\')
What am I doing wrong?

Please post your exact problem and the exact error message. I think you are having a problem compiling, but I am not sure. What is not working? What is the error?
You posted a path, but if that is your Classpath, you should not have javac or java in the Classpath.

There are some presets in the menu that help with different situations. You probably get the best results for what you will be recording by setting the Audio Scene to Music.
1. Touch to open the menu.
2. Select [Audio Scene].
3. Select [Music].

I just purchased a 28" 4K monitor to use with Premiere Pro CS6 in WIndows 8.1 and the fonts are super tiny.

No matter what settings I choose, the fonts on the display are impossibly tiny. The menu fonts at top are readable, but everything else feels like I am taking an eye exam.
Is this fixable, or do I need to return the 4K monitor and fuhgedaboutit?
Since I am doing some shooting in 4K, I thought this monitor would make sense.
If in fact it can't work with PP CS6 on WIn 8.1, what is the best recommended monitor to use with PP CS6?

I understand your issue and I don't have a solution for you. Sorry. In Premiere Pro CC 2014, you can increase the size of the fonts in the Project panel, but not in CS6.

What is the BEST thing to do with my PowerBook? Any Help?

I have a Powerbook G3/400 - the older one with the bronze keyboard - that has OS 10.1.5. I was told by someone previously that I had what is called a "Pismo" system, which is apparently good. It is a great computer - I have had no problems.
Here is my quandry, however. I got an iPod for Christmas and want to use it. The iPod requires a minimum of 10.2.8. I am aware that with the "Pismo" system and the amount of memory I have, I can upgrade all the way to the Tiger OS. My question is, do I WANT to do this?
I was also told that with my older system, Tiger would take up a lot of memory and it would probably be best to completely wipe out my Hard Drive and put Tiger on after that. Fine - sounds like that could be done.
Question is this: Is it wiser to go ahead and go with Tiger, being that it is very stable and the best of the OS X's so far? Does anyone know FOR SURE if my system will support it? Will it make me run slow because it takes up so much memory? Or, do I find a copy of OS 10.2 or 10.3 on eBay, for example, and go with those to possibly save me some memory and speed issues? Will I see problems with 10.2 or 10.3 being unstable and finicky?
Any help that someone has would be greatly appreciated.

Despit Tom's protestations there's no reason Tiger should not run well on your Pismo. If you don't have an external Firewire drive, then I suggest you get one and use it to make a bootable backup of your current system. You can do that using Carbon Copy Cloner (www.versiontracker.com.) Just take some basic precautions. Before making the bootable backup boot from your 10.1 Installer CD. As soon as the installer finishes loading select Disk Utility from the Installer menu. After DU loads select your OS X startup volume from the list on the left, then click on the First Aid tab in the DU main window, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors it has fixed then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. Quit DU, then quit the installer. If you have 10.1.5 installed then open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder on your hard drive. Select your startup volume from the list on the left, then click on the First Aid tab in the DU main window, then click on the Repair Permissions button.
Now make your bootable backup to the Firewire drive.
When you get the Tiger DVD I recommend that you completely reformat your hard drive before installing Tiger using the following procedure:
1. Boot from the Tiger DVD. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
Once the formatting is completed quit DU and return to the Installer. Now proceed doing a clean install of Tiger to your main hard drive. If all goes well you can restore you personal files from your backup. You will have to replace any third-party software with updated versions that are Tiger compatible.
If software compatibility is a major concern then before updating to Tiger (or Panther) check with all your software developers to be sure there are compatible upgrades available. The following will also be helpful in this regard:

If you have problems, are not happy with Tiger, can't find compatible software, have third-party hardware support problems, etc. you can always boot from your Firewire backup, erase the hard drive and restore your backup using Carbon Copy Cloner.

I'm going to build my computer by selecting components and having Fryes service put them together. I'd like to build a system with a motherboard that supports 8 gb RAM, and a 250GB SSD drive (SATA III) with a 750gb or 1 TB 7500 rpm slave internal drive or an similar 7500 rpn external drive. The system I build will have usb 3 and hdmi ports with a dvd rom 24x drive. It will have a Windows 7 premium home edition OS. It will have an Nvidea video card with 2 gigs of independent ram.
I'm trying to build a PC that works efficiently with Photoshop Elements premium version 11. I am a casual home user. I will be doing some basic video rendering of DVD home videos that I have converted to dvd from VHS and 8mm format.. I am NOT a gamer.
I have a monitor and therfore I'm only interested in building a desktop box with thease specs and I'd like to get the best quality componenets for my desktop build for $1300 or less.
I'm not interested in anything from Dell (alienware).
Any motherboard recomendations or criticism/recomendations of other components I want to use will be greatly appreciated.

It’s really a personal choice. I’ve recently bought a new Dell. Like you I was not interested in the consumer products so I purchased a business spec machine and I’m very happy with it. It’s Dell Precision T3600 with Intel Xeon CPU and Nvidia Quadro 2000 graphics card. Running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with 8gb RAM. I got 1TB and 500gb drives both 7500 rpm with a 3TB Seagate external HD. I gave SSD a miss until prices drop further. I don’t think the extra speed is that relevant to Photo editing although perhaps more relevant to video rendering. I’m also not gaming or running other apps that might benefit from an SSD. Photoshop Elements is a 32 bit program which runs well on 64 bit systems but cant use more than 1.5 to 2GB of RAM. Premiere Elements has 64 bit support and can therefore take advantage of the extra RAM. At the end of the day it’s your choice.
