PPPoE and Printer issue

Hi,
my airport extreme n is connected via Modem and PPPoE (always connected) to the Internet. Everything is fine, I can use my hard drive connected to the station and surf the web without any problems. Additonally I connected my printer via an usb hub to the station and now if I start the printer the station loses the internet connection and displays "searching for PPPoE Host". I tried to connect the printer directly to the station without the hub, but it does not solve the problem. If I turn off the printer the internet connection will be recovered.
What do I have to do to fix this problem ?

OK here is the deal
I have the new airport and a hp psc 750 printer. I have a new macbook which can not print on this printer. It will recognize it thru bonjour but will not install the driver - the odd thing is that I have a pc connected directly and a windows based wireless laptop which both are able to print via this airport. I also have an external hard drive that is connected to the airport. All of the computers are able access this drive. So all appears in order except for the macbook-printer issue. I contacted tech support and they claimed driver issue. Anyone have any ideas - I have updated the most recent drivers for this computer and I was able to install this printer via a usb connection. There have been a few posts about issues with HP printers working or not working as the case may be through the extreme. I can't remember what they say, but a search for HP in this forum may well help you.
Sorry to be so vague, just thought it might be a start for you.

Crystal Report viewing and Printing Issue

I use crystal Reports for PO,AR Invoice,Delivery and many other documents.It takes more than 5 mins to view layout from crystal report and print sequence printing takes more than 10mins.Please Help me to rectify this issue..

Hi Naresh,
What is your SAP version and Patch Level ?
I believe in new version this issue has been addressed by SAP. Also note SAP B1 8.81 PL 07 has some issues in crystal Report, it asks for SQL user id and password, SAP is aware of this issue. So if you plan upgrade to latest PL then ensure that Crystal report issue is resolved, otherwise you will be in trouble.

Remote Desktop Connection and printing issues

Hi,
I am using Windows 7 on my desktop and also connected to Windows Server 2008 R2 to run applications in Windows Server. However, I noted there is problem with the printer issues. Sometimes, when I tried to print some documents using applications
in Windows Server with my local printer in my room connected to desktop, it won't work.
Moreover, I need to go to Windows Server, Component Service to restart printer spooler so it will work again. This is a pain.
I also noticed there is about 30 seconds wait to process any document to print.
Unlike if I print documents directly from my local desktop computer running Windows 7 and connected to local printer, it only takes seconds to print.
My desktop is connected to Windows Server 2008 via local area network. I should not expect such a significant delay in printing.
I also wonder why printer spooler needs to be restarted when printer is not working.
Can anyone advise me about this? Can Microsoft looks into this problem and release updates to fix the bug to improve the system?

Hi,
Please check if you turn on this settings:
You need to set this up just before you connect. The setting will be saved so that you won't need to change it the next time you connect.
1. Open Remote Desktop Connection by clicking the Start button, clicking
All Programs, clicking Accessories, and then clicking
Remote Desktop Connection.
2.Click Options, and then click the Local Resources
tab.
3.Under Local devices and resources, select the Printers check box.
4.Click Connect to start the session.
Make sure that you select your printer in the Print dialog box each time you print.

Challenge for all of you with SL and printer issues

I have an iMac with an Epson Stylus C-88+. Let's try an experiment. Pick a sample web page, in the Title Bar, go to File/Print, or Command-P. Go to the lower left hand corner, you have the purple question, then"PDF"/ Click/ "Save as PDF"/ Click. You should be able to find a copy of that website where you save documents in pdf. Because this is all within the machine, there are NO connectivity issues. I failed both in printing and pdf. Anybody out there have better luck?

I am beginning to think the problem is not just be the printer / print driver, but just may be 'Snow Leopard'. Apple needs to become more involved, not just the printer companies. You write, "Are you saying that saving to PDF doesn't work?" All I'm saying is this, "For me, it did not work. You must explore the situation to determine the functionality of your own individual system. For me, earlier on Saturday, I was printing through the printer AND printing to disk (PDF). I later did a "Software Update" including Epson Printer Update. Later in the morning, I went back online and was going to print a disk or PDF, but it would not function. I called AppleCare and explained the situation. The Tech told me to try my printer, I ask him "Well, what are we going to do?" This is the first time I discovered the problem was also with the printer. The Tech said, "YOU are going to call the printer manufacturer and inform THEM of THEIR problem." I said, I didn't get this update from Epson. I got it from AppleCare!" AppleCare wants us to keep our systems up to date. Well, I've got an updated system that is also (REDACTED). Terms not acceptable for a discussion board!

Illustrator fill effects and printing issue

We just got a new canon imagepress C1+ printer and it's amazing so far. However when we try to print AI files with complex fill effects it never works. It just prints a blank page... As soon as we remove the fill effects and put something more simple in it prints it fine. We need the fill effects though.
We can't bypass it by rastering it because then it leaves these weird lines on the page. If we save to pdf it takes too long because we make changes all day on the files.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this or how to reduce the size when putting in complex fill effects? I'm not even sure it's the size issue because I printed off a simple fill effect design that was 300mb and it went fine.

Thanks for all the responses. Well it is a one layer AI file. It does print when rastered but it leaves weird lines on the page. There is no transparency on it so that wouldn't work.
It does use a RIP when processing it to print. However on the server when spooling then printing the ram on the fiery controller shows it barely using it. So not sure if that would be the problem? It very well could be a driver problem because it prints fine to all other printers beside this new one. However Ive tried multiple drivers and still nothing. I wonder if this would more than likely be a printer issue as opposed to a illustrator issue?

Reader X and printing issues

This past weekend I updated Acrobat on my wife's computer (Windows XP SP3). I uninstalled Acrobat 9, downloaded and installed Acrobat X. Everything seemed to work, I get a frantic phone call Wednesday night from my wife (we are trying to sell my house 40 miles away and I'm house sitting...), when she prints a PDF form from the web, the printing is screwed up, the original font appears to have some italics, that was changed to some sort of bold font that is compressed horizontally, the kerning looks weird as well. It looks okay on the screen but totally screwed up on the printed page.
So Wednesday night, I use her laptop that hasn't been updated (thankfully), downloaded and printed the page and it looks fine.
I had her test the same functionality on her work computer and the same thing happens. I also updated her work computer (from Acrobat 8) the same weekend <sigh>.
Does anyone have a clue?

Hi Guys,
Had the same problem at a client site and it was driving me crazy. Turns out that its a very simple fix. Under Preferences in the General tab, take a tick out of Enable Protected Mode at startup.
Once I did that on all client computers they printed fine to all printers.

Transfer files from OS 8.6 to OS 10.5 and printer issue

I am relatively new to the MacOS world, but I am enjoying every minute of it. I recently acquired a new iMac with OS X (10.5) on it. I also have an older Mac that runs OS 8.6 that someone just gave to me. I would love to network the two and share files, but am not sure how to accomplish this. I have a wireless router, with the OS 8.6 Mac plugged in directly via Ethernet, and the iMac connecting via Airport. The Internet works fine on both, but I cannot figure out how to get the two machines to see each other on the network and share files. Any help on this or any pointers of where I could find any help would be appreciated.
Also on this network setup, I have a HP network printer. It is plugged into the router. The OS 8.6 prints fine to it, but the iMac only prints to it if plugged in via Ethernet. If I try to print to it using the Airport, I get a message saying the iMac is unable to communicate w/ the printer. Switch back to Ethernet, and it works fine. Everytime I switch connections, it says something about Appletalk needs to run on this connection and if I want to start it. I answer yes on either connection, yet Airport still isn't working. Any ideas?

I have a similar problem but the issue is between OS 9.1 and OS 10.5.1. I used to be able to network the two machines using OS 10.4. Clearly something has changed with OS 10.5. I know that 10.5 no longer supports OS 9. In my mind, that shouldn't make any difference. I should be able to network with any machine. I can use the network utility and "Ping" the OS 9.1 machine which means I can "see" it through the network. When it comes to attempting to connect with the OS 9.1 device, I get an error code -41 that says for me to check with the system administrator (me)..
I've gotten to the point where I either get a new computer or I find an answer. I have asked a friend of mine who is a former Apple software guru. I'll let you know if I get an answer that works...

Unable to take the printer files and printing issues in 10g reports

Hi all
recently i have migrated reports and forms to 10g. able to view reports thru browser properly when i am printing , alignment is getting disturbed. we have printer files , copied in forms directory as well as in reports directory.
how to print the report output from browser to printer .
all reports are character mode reports.
plz help me to sort out the issue.

We generate to File as PDF and we could print after saving in local or network folders.
It works for us.

Acrobat 9 Form Issues - Font, URL, and Print Issues

Hello folks,
We are developing an Acrobat PDF (I have Pro updated to 9.4.5) with about 30 fields. Some of them contain a default label name, others are blank, and all fields have a unique name. The blank fields on the form are being filled via an automated web services API from Aspose. All info is entered and the PDF is then flattened by the web service.
The document fully populates with all expected data but we are running into three issues:
1) A field that gets populated with a URL by the script properly becomes clickable if the font is set to Helvetica, but when set to Verdana or Arial fails to be recognized by Acrobat.
2) When I create a new form field, and assign a font face/size/color and input a default value, if I go back and try and change the size the default content seems to hold it's original size unless I do a full cut/paste of the value back into the box.
3) We are getting the notorious "An Error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem"
The odd part is we were not getting that error at first - even with data populated. It was only once we started working on getting the fields horizontally and vertically aligned that the error presented itself.
Any thoughts? I have closed and opened Acrobat, tried opening from Acrobat instead of double clicking the PDF but nothing seems to help.

the font association problem is something recent though, since I used acrobat to print mails directly from my gmail account previously...
it's galling but I installed a free pdf printer which does the job, I needed copies of these mails urgently !
as to the update issue, I see no aum.exe, msiexec.exe or setup.exe running... but that's quite above my head... do I look for those exact processes or are they generic names for processes ?
does my question make sense ????

Multiply filter in illustrator with a 2 color job-pdf and print issues?

Encountering a tricky problem and not sure if its an InDesign fix or an Illustrator fix.
I am working on a 2 color job—pms color + black on a book cover. The cover needs to seperate into these 2 colors.
Also, I need to make a high res and lowres pdf that look like the cover to send out to marketing, sales etc.
WHAT's THE PROBLEM?...
Well, I am creating a collage with black ink vector graphics on top of the pms background. I created this art in illustrator CS3. it is saved as an .eps file. The illos were done by someone who used a white fill to knock out black areas. There is also a wide 50% grey outline around the illustration.
I like the idea of the line of the illo being black and the fill being red so that it looks seethrough on the red background. But the 50% grey outline causes a problem...I'd like the 50% outline to blend with the red color, so instead of appearing like there is white in the ink it overprints.
The only way I could think of (and quickest way) was to apply the multiply filter in illustrator to the vector illo. This seemed to work great.
I brought the illo into InDesign CS3 where I created my cover layout.
Looks great, Prints great. Separations appear to be good, although it shows the yellow, cyan, and majenta layer they appear to be blank, so I think it will seperate nicely into 2 plates–PMS + black.
BUT, when I make a pdf, using "smallest file size" or using "high quality print", the pdf it makes does not show the illustrations in the collage. They are kind of beige and dulled out. The publisher needs pdfs too.
Does this at all indicate that this job will not print correctly using this multiply filter, or is it all well and good final product wise, but its just an issue making the pdf? I am slightly nervous I am going to send this off to the printer and they will have some issue.
I am a professional designer of 10 years with lots of print experience, but I have never used multiply in illustrator so I just want to make sure there is no rule against doing this I should know about. Does multiply at all mess with the color separations or is it fine? And how do I get my pdf to come out right? I'm hoping there's some dumb thing I'm forgetting, or a simple fix.

If you don't feel comfortable using Multiply you might want to communicate with the printer and ask if this is an issue for them to reproduce correctly. Some printers using older rips may have issues with transparency. If you can't speak directly with your printer you could mark up the file or make a PDF to accompany the working file with your comments about what prints at what percentage, and if it should overprint or knockout. Years ago I would get a file with transparency in it and have to make sure the designers intent was clear. This was in some cases due to the designer not understanding blend modes or what he/she wanted overprinting or knocking out in the printed piece. The other way you can confirm the separations are going to rip correctly is to print a PDF out of Indesign and open it in Acrobat pro. Under Advanced>Print Production>Output Preview you can turn on and off separations for the 2 spot colors in question. Because PDF acts as your rip in this case you should be seeing what separations your printer will be printing using your native Indesign file. Some print shops will require you to provide a PDF or a color laser print out for QA of your printed piece when sending files to prepress.

Airport, PPPoE and Printing

Hello there.
I am new to Mac. I have always used windows up till now, so I am somewhat unsure of a few things. I have a wireless network in my home where I have four windows based PC's in different rooms and my brand new iMac in my room.
I have two printers connected to one of my PC's downstairs, and I wish to print with these from my iMac. The problem is that I cannot seem to see the printers when I search for them in the printer setup.
I had a look at sharing.. and the window told me that my iMac's IP is something like : [email protected] (not the exact) . This is my DSL service provider's account information. I selected "connect through PPPoE" in the network setup because that is how my network internet connection works the wirless hub holds the connection).
Now I think this may be a problem. Because it looks like the subnet masks are not the same on the Mac and Windows machines. When I uncheck the box that says "connect through PPPoE" I can set my IP, but I lose my internet connection. I don not understand what is happening!
I really need to get printing working. Anyone know what is wrong?

Do you have a wireless router? If so which model?
Are you using NAT?
It sounds like that you are been assigned IP addresses by the ISP and not by a router.
Your IP address will be a number like this
10.0.1.5
192.168.0.6
or similar.
[email protected] is your user id for your ISP.

Ink and Print Issues

Hello, I have an C510a and I'm getting Ink system Failure 0xc19a0023 and I'm also getting a printhead problen error message...can someone please help with this....paid too much for this printer for it to have an issue

I'll do the best I can to help you. Try taking out all the ink cartridges and lifting the latch next to them to remove the printhead that they set in. Make sure everything looks clean. (no smeared ink, etc...) Replace the printhead and cartridges and see if that resolves your issue.

Multiple Crashes and Printer Issues - Help!

I've been very disappointed in Snow Leopard. On my iMac it is freezing up constantly. I NEVER have to reboot that iMac, and in less than 48 hours since I've installed it, I've had to reboot 5 times . It looks like iPhoto of all things is the program that crashes it - can't really tell. The whole screen freezes, including the doc and all menu bar options. Nothing is clickable, but the mouse still works - but can't click or right click anything. Have to turn off and then back on again to fix it.
On my MacBook Pro 17", I have the latest Final Cut Studio installed, and I can't run Final Cut Pro at all!! I need to edit a video tonight, and it crashes every single time I try to do anything in the video - 5 crashes in a row and still counting.
Finally, none of my HP printers work now - can't print using the same paper options I had before to print pictures. Rosetta has been installed on both machines.
Is there any help to fix these?!?! I'm seriously considering putting Leopard back on all my machines.

Your warranty is for one year, so Best Buy should repair it under the warranty assuming there is something that needs repairing.
You may have a software incompatibility problem at work. You have been experiencing kernel panics so a first start would be to look at a panic log to see what it tells us. We can try diagnosing everything until the problem is tracked down or you can go the extreme route which is to backup your data, erase the drive, and reinstall OS X.
For the former visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics. Also seeOS X- How to log a kernel panic. Then post the panic log here so we can see what it tells us.
I would also suggest you try booting into Safe Mode and see if your computer's problems cease. If they don't then create a new user account. Log out of your account and log into the new account. Do the problems cease?

Acrobat Standard X and Printing Issues

I recently installed X on my system. I was super excited until I hit the print button. I made absolutely no changes to the print settings, yet my pdf has been shrunk to fit on half a page as well as rotated. In addition, one pdf page now prints two sheets of paper. One as described before, the other blank.
Here are my current settings
-windows 7 (64 bit)
-xerox phaser 6360 dn ps
-acrobat x
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling numerous times, adobe and the printer. As well as rolling back versions. No luck.
