PPPoE internet on Parallels

G'day Chaps,
Have just changed my internet connection from a wireless one to using PPPoE. The internet on my Mac is working fine, but now I cannot connect using Parallels Windows XP. It worked fine previously, and I don't remember having to make any setting changes at all (although my memory may have failed me).
So I have all of the settings that I am using on my Mac PPPoE, how do I plug that in to windows on Parallels to make it work?
Many thanks,
damo.

turned out just to be an internet preference setting in Windows.
thanks for all your replies (ummm)

  • Windows 7 no internet in Parallels

    Hello,
I have installed Widows 7 Pro in Parallels 7 on my late 2012 Mac Mini (Quad Core Ivy bridge, 16Gb Ram, Intel 4000 Graphics). Everything is working fine except for network/internet. Parallels/Windows is not finding a driver for the Mini's network card. I was wondering if anyone else had has this problem or knows how to correct it.
    Thanks,
    Han

Have you installed Boot Camp drivers? You need them to make your Internet connection work on Windows.
    To download them:
    1. Press X key while your Mac is starting to start into OS X, and open Boot Camp Assistant.
    2. Select the option to download the Windows support software, and follow the steps to burn them into a DVD or USB drive.
    3. Start into Windows and install drivers

  • When will iPhone support PPPoE internet connections?

When will iPhone support PPPoE internet connections? Numerous Internet providers still use PPPoE internet over DHCP data. However, iphone does not support PPPoE.

PPPoE is irrelevant to the iPhone; it is a protocol between the ISP and the first point of presence on premises, which today is almost always a wired or wireless router. PPPoE would only be meaningful if there was a way to connect the phone directly to the incoming Internet connection. As there is no way to do this physically it would be pointless.

  • No Internet with Parallels (using Vista)

Just got Parallels and Installed Windows Vista. For some reason I can't get on the internet. Under device manager networking isn't even an option. I can't turn on network discovery, and because of all of this I can't get on the internet with windows to get necessary software and rives. Using the Mac side everything is kosher and i can surf the web. Any advice so I can surf the web with parallels?

So I'm pretty sure I've missed a step somewhere. Anyone have any ideas of what I need to do to actually be able to surf the net or test the connection.

  • Strange PPPOE internet behavior

I recently set up a 2611 router to initiate my PPPOE connection to ATT
DSL. I was able to get the PPPOE to connect and everything seemed to
be working how ever after a few days I started to notice that certain
websites were not coming up. My setup consistes of a 2611 router that
is connecting to the internet, internally this router connects to a
2621 router on a 10.1.2.X network which is also acting as a router on
a stick for vlans that i have setup on a 2924 switch in a 192.168.X.X
network. The problem did not seem to be VLAN specific as at least one
PC on each VLAN could get to the sites that were having issues. The
sites that I noticed that were having issues were Windows Update
(would display a "no network connection" error after searching for
updates), Craigs list ( would go to a page can not be displayed when
trying to post adds) Yahoo groups ( could sign on to groups but once
signed on all links would go to a page can not be displayed error)
Credit card sites ( could sign in but all links once signed in would
go to page can not be displayed). I tried troubleshooting this on the
Windows end first by engaging Microsoft support, but we were able to
determine that there was an issue with the network as once I replaced
the 2611 with the linksys that I was using previously everything
worked. Before taking the 2611 down I was able to do a packet sniff
with Ethereal of a succesfull and failed windows update, the only
glaring issue that i saw was that on the failed windows update I was
getting alot of check sum errors which after researching looked like
they were coming from the Gig NIC. Below is the config that I was
using on the 2611, any insite or thoughts on this strange issue would
    be appriciated.

  • Please help! Internet on parallels and through airport, but not in OSX??

I have snow leopard on MBP. At one of my places at work, when I connect to the network - I cannot get internet to work inside OS X - i.e. mail, safari, firefox - all do not work. However, if I start up parallels - the firefox and other programs within XP parallels work perfectly. What's more, if I enable internet sharing through airport, I can also use my ipod touch to connect to the internet through my MBP!! Inside OSX - most things do not work most of the time, and on occasion, microsoft entourage works for a bit...
Looking at little snitch, looks like a lot of active "local" network activity by natd and MDNSResponder - nonstop.
The console is full of messages... one today in a non-stop loop was:
10-10-26 2:47:28 PM mDNSResponder[30] GenerateUnicastResponse: ERROR! Why no questions?

Thanks for replying. I don't think I'm running other low level programs... hotspot shield in the background, but not up and running.... Also, this problem occurs at one of my offices, but not in my other office or at home. It seems so very strange, and I'm tearing my hair out. Resorting to either running parallels or checking my email on my ipod.

  • PC restarts after using PPPoE internet connection

    Hi,
I've upgraded to Win 8.1 a few days back. Whereas everything else is working fine, I have started getting a problem when I try to connect to the internet through my PPPoE connection.
After being able to browse for a couple of minutes or so, suddenly the PC shows a message on a blue scree stating that an error has developed and the PC needs to restart. This happens every time I try to connect to the internet .
Please help me to solve this issue as soon as possible as I find it impossible to stay without the internet beyond a few days.
    Thanks,

  • Problems accessing internet through parallels desktop on Mac OS Leopard

I have recently installed parallels desktop on my Mac OS Leopard. I work for an organisation that requires us to use the Novell Services software, in order to access internet, shared folders Groupwise email etc.
The good news is that I have access to the server, hence the software works on the mac via windows XP, and I can use the Groupwise email. however, I cannot seem to access the internet using either firefox or explorer browsers. I have looked at the connections settings, security settings etc,. and no joy.
Has anyone had similar problems or suggest ideas on how i can solve the problem...
Its a nightmare having to use windows on the Mac, but its my only way so i can access the internet and email...
many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • Internet OK w/ Parallels but not Boot Camp

    Background:
Last week my WDS network consisting of 3 Airport Expresses (802.11g) got snarled up to the point I had to reset the entire system. Prior to this I was able to get Internet via Boot Camp, Fusion (on my Mac Pro), or Parallels (in my MacBook Pro).
    *Current problem:*
After the network was restored I had to reenter my WEP password/code into all my machines. On my MacBook Pro, however, I cannot get Internet with Boot Camp. When I try to "repair," it times out and tells me it can't find the IP. (It has no problems "seeing" my network, it just won't get online).
However, when I use Windows via Parallels 2.5 (which uses this Boot Camp partition) I have no problem getting online. *The problem only exists when using Boot Camp on the MBP.* (I have no problems getting online via Fusion or Boot Camp on my Mac Pro either, just to eliminate my ISP, modem, and base stations).
But now that I've narrowed down the issue to just Boot Camp on my MBP I'm not sure how to proceed. I'm not much of a Windows troubleshooter. Any ideas how to get Internet back?

Same general problem, but I'm using a Mac Pro that previously connected without a problem under BC.
For my case, I removed then reinstalled Vista to a larger partition. I can connect to the network, but not the internet. Parallels and OSX have no problem (though I have to select the connection in OSX after booting to Vista and back).
    I'm using WPA+TKIP

  • Internet Speed w/Parallels Virtualization

10.4.6 definately made internet speeds a bit more peppy and thought it was adequate until I used Parallels VM with Win XP. Internet Explorer within the VM is super fast, and I do mean SUPER. Hopefully Apple is still working on the issue even though the last update improved things a bit.

  • When using Parallels for Windows 7, I cannot connect to Wi-Fi. I get drop down menu "Real Network Adapter Thunderbolt Bridge used by Virtual Adapter 1 is not connected to the network". How do I fix?

When I try to connect to internet wirelessly (Parallels/Windows 7 on my Mac Pro) I get a drop down that says "Real Network adapter thunderbolt bridge used by virtual adapter 1 is not connected to the network". I can not figure out how to connect - any help is appreciated!

Since you are having trouble with Parallels or Windows, did you ask in their respective support forums? If not, you might want to consider doing so.

  • Browsers in OS X slow or not working while browsers running in Parallels are fine

From day one, I had massive problems using first Safari and then Chrome in OS X. I would have to refresh ten times or more to get to a webpage. I was advised to create a new user and see if the problem persisted and it didn't. Browsing was perfectly fine. But that does not solve the problem. I need to use the browsers in my user profile, not in one that has not got any of my applications in it. I did rebuild my user profile from scratch, which took a lot of time and I just ended up having the same problems.
Then I purchased Parallels and installed Chrome in there. And bizarrely, it's ok there. Still not as quick as I would expect, but useable.
Another peculiar thing is the choice or router: I bought a very fast Belkin router because initially, I just had a TalkTalk modem/router that came with the broadband. It is very slow and since it is downstairs, it never managed to transmit fully to my office. So, I connected the Belkin to the TalkTalk via Ethernet and was hoping that I would now get better and faster wifi. And that does work for my iPhone, iPad and PC but not for the iMac under OS X. If I go back to my TalkTalk wifi, it does work with the OS X browsers, but it is slow due to weak signal.
I know this is getting confusing, so here is an overview:
browser in OS X          browsers in Windows 7 through Parallels
TalkTalk wifi      works, but slow            works, but slow
Belkin Wifi        hardly works at all        works and mostly very fast
Following from that, here are a number of statements that should be true:
    1. It can't be hardware, since wifi works with the TalkTalk router and even with the Belkin through Windows 7
    2. It can't be OS 10.7 in general, since it is working with the TalkTalk even though it does not with the Belkin
    3. It can't be the Belkin in general, since the browsers are working through Windows 7
    4. It can't be the positioning of either the routers or the iMac, since it works for both routers in certain configurations.
I can only assume that it is some setting in OS 10.7 that is in conflict with the Belkin router.
Now, I can obviously use the internet through Parallels or use the TalkTalk but that is not the point. I paid good money for both the iMac and the Belkin and I think I should be allowed to expect both to work with each other! Or shouldn't I?!?
Anyway, any suggestion would be gratefully received!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • 10.10.2 broke wifi in OS X (but not win8 in Parallels)

After upgrading from 10.10.1 to 10.10.2, my MacBook Pro connects to my Apple Extreme via Wifi, but not to the Internet. (On a side note, the Extreme also reports not having an Internet connection.)
However, other devices connected to the Extreme via Wifi, do access the Internet (they run Android, iOS and Windows 8). And on the same Mac that can't reach the Internet, I'm running Parallels Desktop with Windows 8 installed, and here I'm getting a good Internet connection (Parallels is running its network adapter in bridged mode, meaning it's visible to the Extreme as a separate machine).
So, despite the Extreme's odd status, the Internet is available to all my devices, but not Mac OS X. Also, the Mac's wifi hardware must be working, since it's good enough for Parallels on the very same machine.
What is it, then, that's causing OS X to not connect to the Internet?

After Yosemite 10.10.2, the Wifi at work is so broken that I have to open a Terminal to ping 8.8.8.8 to see if I am still online.
