PPPoE on 7600

I need little confirmation, has any one tested the PPPoE, BRAS functionality on CISCO 7600 with SUP720+12.2SRC+SIP-400 topology, does it really work and does it really give some practical difference from 7200 NPE-G2.

  • PPPoE Cisco 6500 + 7600-SIP-400

    Hello,
we use a lot of Cisco 6500 switches across our network. I bought one 7600-SIP-400 with one SPA-5X1GE-V2 module.
Unfortunatelly I have found that there is no command support for PPPoE in my IOS version 12.2 SXI13.
Can somebody tell me which IOS version do I have to use to get command support for PPPoE Server?
    Thank you.

  • BRAS Config for MPLS carrying PPPoE

           Hi all
    DSLAM----(PPPoE)---7600----(Xconnect)----7600----(VLAN/PPPoE)---(BRAS ASR1K)
we currently have a distributed access network where the DSLAMs send us PPPoE packets which we are wrapping into xconnects back to a central BRAS.
the xconnects terminate on the upstream device to the BRAS.  The BRAS is connected by a VLAN trunk and each DSLAM is identified by a unique VLAN-ID.
so the BRAS gets native PPPoE frames.
I wish to extend the MPLS to the BRAS itself.   So that the xconnect ( or VPLS ) terminates on the BRAS itself.
I cant see how to stitch in the PPPoE features to get this to work.
I was thinking about an external looping cable on the same BRAS device but thats a bit crap
Is there a more elegant solution?
    many thanks

    Hi,
You can try pseudowire headend configuration. But I am not sure its avaliable for AS1K.

  • 7600 as BRAS

Does 7600 support pppoe termination? What modules is it necessary to use for termination?

    Антон
7600 will not terminate VPDN connections (pptp or l2tp), you need MWAM module

  • Carrying PPPoE over MPLS....

We are stuck in a situtation which is as follows:
    Customer(PPPoE)------7600----MPLS---BRAS
The PPPoE session is to be terminated on the BRAS (a cisco 7200). The 7600 does not support the PPPoE Relay feature (which would've allowed the PPPoE session to be carryied over L2TP through the MPLS core). I do not want to use a L2 VPN to do this. Any suggestions???

Hey there... I m too stabbing the same problem... though unsuccessfully.. as a temporary arrangement I have installed another 'PPPoE Relay enabled' router... waiting for TAC guys to come back with some answers... would really like to know the solution for this one !!!

  • HP 7600 AIO Leopard update

I recently found the new release of HP 7600 software for Leopard. After some trouble, I was able to install it (apparently) successfully for our HP Officejet Pro L7650 (which apparently is the Costco version of the L7680).
I have a LAN based on an Airport Extreme and an ethernet switch, and the first problem for me was simply understanding how to hook up the cables. Simply running a USB from the Airport got me printing but nothing else (as your literature states). To get full functionality, however, I connected the L7650 to the ethernet switch.
In running the install program on each of our three computers, the program came to a point during setup where it said it could not find the AIO and concluded that the install program could not continue. I found, quite accidentally, that disconnecting and then reconnecting the ethernet cable from the switch to the AIO enabled the program to proceed. With that quirk, the software was installed on two computers; the third required removal of all the HP software I could find before it, too, accepted the new install.
After I got it installed and working, I received the following from HP "Customer Care" in response to an annoyed letter from me. I offer it without comment; I have not tried it:

After logging in, verify and possibly repair any permissions that might have been affected using these steps:
Open Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and double-click on Disk Utility .
Upon the left side, select the Macintosh HD . It will be indented and usually is the second entry in that list.
On the right side beneath the white box select Repair Disk Permissions . This process may take several minutes.
Close Disk Utility by single-clicking the red dot at the top left of the dialog box.
Install the printer software. If there is other HP hardware that needs to be re-installed, install it afterwards.
Double-click the downloaded file containing the software for the printer.
Double-click the Installation file; it will be either All-in-One Installer or Vise Installer .
Proceed through the questions asked. If prompted for an account and password, use the information for the user account you are currently logged into.
NOTE: After installation is finished the HP Setup Assistant must be completed.
In some situations the All-in-One Setup Assistant will ask you to open the Printer Setup Utility in order to add the printer manually. If prompted with this, use the following steps:
If the All-in-One is directly connected to the Mac with a USB cable:
    Click Printer Setup Utility .
When the Printer Setup Utility opens, click Add .
Single-click the entry for the HP All-in-One which is connected by USB.
    Click Add .

  • No wireless Internet access - DSL PPPoE modem

I have seen a few threads in the forum related to similar issues but have been unable to fully resolve my problem. I am trying to set up my Airport Express with a DSL router that runs PPPoE. When I attempt to set up the connection, my Express cannot locate the PPPoE server.
From what I understand, I need to disable PPPoE. I have done this on the Airport Express in the System Preferences (Network) but cannot figure out how to disable it on the Built-in Ethernet connection while running OSX 10.5.1.
The Airport Express indicator is solid green but I am unable to get through to the Internet. It just keeps looking for the connection but has yet to grab it.
I have used the device successfully with a DHCP set-up without any trouble but am visiting family with a different type of service. Any suggestions?
Right now I'm using an Alcatel Speed Touch broadband modem and have a Dynex Ethernet Switch that's splitting the connection between my family's PC and my Airport Express. If I hook up an Ethernet cable to my MacBook Pro and connect with the Built-in Ethernet connection, I have no trouble. So it's obviously something with my Airport Express settings.
Here's a summary of the Airport Express set-up:
    Running firmware 6.3
Internet connection: Connect using PPPoE (Service Name left blank)
    PPPoE: Connection always on
    Wireless Security: WEP 128 bit
Any advice is more than welcome.

  • ASA 5505 ISP Failover (PPPoE/DHCP)

    Hello,
    I have 2 WAN uplinks:
The primary is VDSL (PPPoE) - very fast, and I have a static IP + /29 subnet 'assigned' to me.
The secondary is DSL (DHCP) - slower
What I'm trying to do is setup ISP failover on my ASA 5505 with security plus licence... and the way I have it currently setup 'half-works'. If the primary goes down - the primary route is removed from the routing table and the secondary route is 'inserted'. I have the NATs setup so I have internet access and all seems well. The problem however is when the primary ISP comes online again, the ASA doesn't switch back over. It maintains the backup route until I manually switch it (by temporarily disabling the backup ISP switch port).
This is what I did to configure it:
    config t
    sla monitor 10
type echo protocol ipicmpecho x.x.x.x interface outside-primary
    frequency 5
    exit
sla monitor schedule 10 life forever start-time now
    track 1 rtr 10 reachability
    route outside-primary 0 0 x.x.x.x 1 track 1
    route outside-backup 0 0 y.y.y.y 2
nat (inside,outside-primary) after-auto source dynamic any interface
nat (inside,outside-backup) after-auto source dynamic any interface
Have I missed anything? Is there a better way to set this up? I noticed in the ADSM if you edit an interface there seems to be the ability to set tracker IDs, SLA IDs, etc - but couldn't really find anything on google that helped.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
    you need this command:
no ip verify reverse-path interface outside_primary
    Problem:
SLA monitoring does not work after the ASA is upgrade to version 8.0.
    Solution:
The problem is possibly be due to the IP Reverse-Path command configured in the OUTSIDE interface. Remove the command in ASA and try to check the SLA Monitoring.

  • ASA 5505 PPPoE via DSL

Having trouble getting a public IP on the outside interface.
    ASA 5505 running 8.0(2)
Westell E90610030-06 DSL box running current firmware.
    Service provider is AT&T (Bellsouth)
DSL modem is in bridge mode.
Outside interface of 5505 is set to PPPoE with known good credentials.
I've tried CHAP and PAP authentication.
Last attempt, using MAC cloning, showed a PPPoE address of 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 in the client monitor in ASDM. Authentication is still set to CHAP.
I've read that AT&T does a 2-hour IP lease, so my next step is to shut down the DSL router for 2 hours and try again.
I believe PPPoE debug is still broken in this ASA version, unfortunately.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 - problem with negotiating IP address from PPPoE

    Hi all,
I have problem with negotiating IP address from PPPoE. There is following design: ISP providing vDSL ending on VDSL modem in bridge mode. Behind brigde modem is ASA 5505 terminting PPPoE on OUTSIDE. Everything works fine except  negotiating IP address from PPPoE server.
I have configured ASA 5505 with (ASA Version 9.2(2)4) for PPPoE like this [1.]. But If i try to "show" IP address on OUTSIDE interface a get this [2.], ok strange but let's continue. If list "show vpdn pppinterface id 1"  i get this [3.]. Seems that I got public IP addres what was right, but this IP address was not associated with interface OUTSIDE?
Well, if I set IP address manually like this [4.] and also set a default route everything works fine but what will happen when ISP change reservation for my IP address or default gateway.
I have tried different version of ASA OS like 8.4, 9.1 but without luck.
Can anybody help me. Thanks a lot.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 - 2 PPPoE connection

    Hi,
Please I would be very pleased if someone could give me a hand in this matter.
I have a Cisco ASA 5505 9.0(2), 2 dial-up connection (ADSL) with fix IP from the same ISP. I have 2 Linksys router (each dial-up has a router) as well. Both Linksys are connected directly to ASA configured in bridge mode.
I set up one dial-up on interface called “outside” with PPPoE configuration which is, in fact, up and running. I’m able to get my fix public IP.
My problem come from when I try to set up the second dial-up on interface called “outside-other”. I configure properly all PPPoE parameters however I’m not able to get my second fix public IP. Somehow, it’s not able to establish a connection with the ISP. (PPPoE session has not been established yet)
This could be useful information: the PPPoE Username is the same in both dial-up connection (given by my ISP).
I hope someone can shed light on this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
Apologies for my lack of awareness.
    Antonio

    Hi,
    This is my schema:
connection A ( interface outside) --> DSL --> Router Linksys mode bridge --> Cisco ASA , up and running with IP fix.
    connection B ( interface outside-other) --> DSL --> Router Linksys mode bridge --> Cisco ASA, down : Status PADR_SENT
I tried to use two different VPDN_groups for the two connections A and B. However, B is still not working. Just one of them is able to get IP from ISP, connection A.
When I set up the Linksys router (connection B) in PPPoE, the connection works and get an IP fix from ISP.
What I want to do is set up a VPN on connection B so I need to configure this second dial-up on Cisco ASA. I cannot use connection A due to security reasons.
    Thanks

I have an ADSL PPPoE wireless internet connection, should be 'I have a ADSL PPPoE WAN internet connection'  with
    wireless.
You can't connect direct to the dialup connection but you can connect any device via WiFi.
Does the router have small aerial(s) and is wireless enabled on the router ?.
If you don't know, to check you will need the IP address of the router, username and password is usually 'admin'.
I think there is a problem with the Z10 if it can't connect to other wireless hotspots.

  • I am constantly receiving an error message that says "Could not find a PPPoE Server." My wireless internet connection seems to working fine, I'm not having any issues. How do I get rid of this error message?

A few weeks ago my computer had lost the connection to the wireless internet. I set it up again and was able to connect to the internet, however since then I've been receiving an error message "Could not find a PPPoE Server." I went back into Preferences and unchecked the PPPoE server option but the error message still pops up.
Any idea how to fix it?

In the Network pane of System Prefences, do you have duplicate services on the left column? When you "set it up again", you might have duplicated a service and both (the good working one and the previous that lost connection) might be trying to connect at the same time.
