  • Draytek Vigor 120 - PPPoA / PPPoE Settings - MTU a...

    Hi there,
I currently use a Home Hub but am trying to set up a Draytek Vigor 3300 connected to a Draytek Vigor 120 ADSL Modem.
The settings I took from the Homehub have the username [email protected] with no password.
When I plugin my Vigor Modem out of the box it connects fine to the line in that it finds out the speed details and the ADSL light is illuminated. The issue seems to be when I plug it into the Vigor 3300 and use the PPPoE part.
I can't put in a blank password so I tried [email protected] with a SPACE for a password. I left the MTU as default and the mechanism as PAP.
For some reason it doesn't connect.
What details should I put in, does the password matter, does BT use PAP or CHAP and what MTU.
    M

Hm! well the user name is the same as the HH [email protected] and the password is blank, if it insists on a password then use password but it shouldn't.
Can't say if pap or chap as my old vigor didnt give an option, if you have an option then try them in turn....leave the mtu.
Dont know if this is any good... http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/kb_vigor100_setup.html
Now according to the spec the modem does ppoa/ppoe bridging, which implies this is automatic...as most adsl uses ppoa.

  • RT-N66U not picking up pppoe settings, from homeHu...

    Hi,
Acouple of networking questions i have bt infinity 2 but have been getting problems with my second HH5. I have brought a RT-N66U router. on the hh5 ive disabled wifi and dhcp so that the N66U servers as the dhcp server( or is this wrong). I have a newwork cable plugged in from the WAN port on the HH5 to the cable/dsl modem port on the N66U. when i go to setup i select pppoe and then add the account of [email protected] with no password. this then just retries and times out. I tried putting a password of 12345 in and that ended up changing the password on the hh5 so that i had to remove it for the hh5 to be connected. Maybe the hh5 doesnt work as a router i have ordered a hg612 anyway to use insted of the hh5 but wondered if that would have the same problem.
    Solved!

Correct GG it cannot be used as a modem

  • BT infinity PPPOE settings for NVR

    hi everyone, good evening
I think I have come to the right place. I have currently setup a CCTV system at home with some dlink IP cameras and a dlink NVR (dnr-322L). I have got to the stage of setting up the internet connection on the NVR. Unfortunately when I use the same username([email protected]) that I use in my router (dlink dir 855 extreme router) and password which is blank the connection fails. Also the NVR does not allow blank passwords. Does anyone have a solution for this.

    Why would you disable it?
You're asking for advice on how to install a video recorder. You should ask the manufacturer.
There is a setup wizard that you need to use ftp://ftp.dlink.eu/Products/dnr/DNR-322L/driver_software/DNR-322L_sw_revALL_SetupWizard_mydlink_1-2-...

  • Can't Access Router Settings via 192.168.2.1

I have recently changed modem/routers as my connection speed was increased recently and the old modem wasn't up to the task... The previous modem/router was preconfigured and I did nothing to it, however the new one requires settings be fixed by accessing it via a browser at 192.168.2.1
When the technician came to check my line and set up the new modem, we encountered a strange situation. Despite being connected by Ethernet cable, my machine could not access the IP address reserved for the router.
The reply is: "Safari can’t connect to the server.
Safari can’t open the page “http://192.168.2.1/” because Safari can’t connect to the server “192.168.2.1”."
We tried Firefox and the same happened.
I have deactivated my firewall, rebooted, changed cables, restarted the router, got Safari to pretend to be Explorer, got the neighbor's dog to bark at it, everything except make a blood pact with the devil, and the two browsers on my machine think that 192.168.2.1 is an external address- which it isn't, and of course fails to connect.
The technician used his laptop to configure the thing, so I can access the internet (obviously) but I must find out why I can't access the router/modem's settings, if only to find some logical reason for this illogical behavior.
I've tried looking this issue up, and I get lots of bad wiring, wireless connection, windows proprietary shenanigans, but none that explain my situation.
I'd appreciate it if someone could help me make sense of this.
    My setup:
Computer Model Name: Power Mac G4 (AGP graphics)
    Model Identifier: PowerMac3,1
    Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (3.3)
    Processor Speed: 1.35 GHz
    Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 2 MB
    Memory: 832 MB
    Bus Speed: 100 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.2.8f1
    Sales Order Number: M7827LL/A
    Router: "2-Wire Gateway"

Your advice did the job quite nicely and it seems this is the "natural way of things," but I was totally unaware of it since my previous modems were preconfigured and I never had to muck about with subnets and such things.
What irks me is that this is basic, bare bones information that the Tech support people should have given me right off the bat. Why do they assume I have all the right numbers input into the Ethernet or PPPoE settings? They seemed totally perplexed that I couldn't connect, and frankly so was I- since my old Mac, as decrepit as it is, is still able to kick it with the modern way of things better than most computers I work with.
If they had asked me if I had set the right IP's in the right slots, it could have been fixed in 2 minutes.
Thank you very much for solving my problem, it saves me a lot of stress and confusion.

  • Airport Extreme and AT&T DSL Modem Settings?

I have given up!  Switched from Time Warner CAble Modem Internet connection with my AEBS network after 3 years without problems.  Moved and had to switch and get AT&T DSL High Speed Internet using their Modem (WESTELL REV: S, ADSL2+ ROUTER).  Ever since self-installing this "system", I have been totally unable to use my wireless network to connect to the Internet, as wired and configured like the TWC connection!  THE ONLY WAY TO GET ON THE INTERNET IS:
    1)     TO TURN OFF AIRPORT (FROM MENU AT TOP OF SCREEN).
    2)     CONNECT THE ETHERNET CABLE DIRECTLY INTO THE MACBOOK PRO 17" (MBP) ETHERNET PORT AND THE OTHER END DIRECTLY
TO THE AT&T DSL MODEM (ITS ONLY ETHERNET PORT).
    3)     The Internet then works fine.
I have thoroughly messed-up BOTH my MBP's Network settings and my AEBS' manual settings -- to the point I have no capability to remember the "correct" settings for the MBP Network Settings nor the settings for the AEBS!!!
In looking into the communication settings for the DSL MODEM (using Safari and its IP address -- 192.168.1.254 -- to access and look at them), I recorded them after activating the service online with AT&T and they are these settings:
    Downstream Rate:               3008 Kbps
    Upstream Rate:                    512 Kbps
    Internet IP Address:              75.47.152.126
    Internet Gateway Address:  151.164.186.1
    DNS Servers:                        68.94.156.1 dnsr1.sbcglobal.net
                                                   68.94.157.1 dnsr2.sbcglobal.net
Mode:                                   PPP on the modem (Private IP for LAN device)
    Local Network
    Modem IP Address:              192.168.1.254
    Ethernet Status:                    Connected
Maybe you can tell, but I'm not sure if this modem is using PPPOe or DCHP OR NAT OR BOTH OR WHAT, but the "PPP on the modem (Private IP for LAN device)" suggests it has its PPPOe settings internal with my Member ID so this modem can and does connect to the Internet -- BECAUSE WHEN CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO MY MBP's ETHERNET PORT AND DIRECTLY TO THE MODEM's ETHERNET PORT, THE MBP IS CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET (but I cannot utilize my AEBS features also like printing and allowing another notebook pc to wirelessly connect thru the AEBS to the Internet like the TWC method did)!
I know this may seem confusing, but I am desparately depending on your help with exactly what settings I need to make inside the AEBS and to make to the MBP's Network settings for both Airport and Ethernet usable!!!
SO, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME BY PROVIDING ME WITH EITHER (OR BOTH) OF THIS INFORMATION:
    1)     COMPLETE SETTINGS FOR EACH AND EVERY FIELD IN THE AEBS MANUAL SETUP AS WELL AS COMPLETE SETTINGS FOR EACH
AND EVERY FIELD IN THE MBP NETWORK SETTINGS FOR THE AIRPORT PORT AND THE ETHERNET PORT.
    2)     SEND ME FULL WEBSITE ADDRESSES AND TOPIC TO GO TO TO FIND OUT ALL OF THESE DATA TO BE ENTERED INTO MY SYSTEM.
I THANK YOU FOR ANY AND ALL HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE!!!!!
    LARRY W. HAMILTON

The AEBS defaults to 10.0.1.x for internal LAN IP addresses. I'm guessing the Callvantage defaults to 192.168.1.x
You'll have to find out how to access the admin webserver on the call Callvantage, set it to a fixed IP the AEBS would see and enable the Default Host option on the AEBS with the IP address you gave the Callvantage.
Default Host is Applespeak for DMZ.

  • Can someone help with settings on WRT54G on a bridged modem?

I have a motorola 2210 modem, and I know that in order for you to bridge it, you have to go to 192.168.1.254 and change the PPP settings. Now, can someone who ahs done this walk me throught the modem and router setup in order of what they did. I just tried it, and I ended having to reset my router and my modem because i massively screwed up and lost my internet connection. I tried linksys and I didnt get much, and I tried att and they wouldnt help because of the router. I just need the exact steps to do this.

For Converting the Modem into the Bridge Mode...Check this link.
After converting the modem into the bridge mode, you need to configure the linksys router with PPPoE settings..Check this link.

  • Where is the PPPoE password stored?

I connect direct to the internet using PPPoE. Works great.
Today, I purchased a wireless router so I can "share" that internet connection with my wife's laptop, etc.
So, I need to transfer the PPPoE details from my Mac's Network Preferences to the router's PPPoE settings.
Problem: I've forgotten my PPPoE password!
Solution: Does anyone know where the PPPoE password is stored?
Hint: It's not showing up in Keychain Access, for some reason, although I can access many other passwords in there.

Most password are stored in your keychain utilty.
My wifi network passwords are in there amongst my email passwords etc.
    goto /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access
check your internet password entries and the double click the relevant entry and check the box 'show password' enter your admin password and it should reveal the password.

  • Firmware bug? No Connect/Disconnect button on "Manual" PPPoE option

    Hi,
To the best of my knowledge this is a firmware bug.
There is no Connect/Disconnect option when choosing "Manual" from the PPPoE settings.

  • Setting up PPPoE: Not working ??

    Hi,
    Linksys BEFW11S4 ver 2.6
I currently have Verizon DSL. When I got the self-installation kit many years ago, the Linksys installation disc installed the Wireless Connection under My Network Places. The Verizon installation disc installed a "dial-up" type of thing called Verizon Online under My Network Places.
Now, theoretically, I shouldn't need this Verizon Online connection should I? I should be able to set my Verizon username and password through my PPPoE settings under my router configurations right? (I'm assuming the Verizon installation disc did this since the average Joe wouldn't have to dig through the Linksys PPPoE configurations.)
Well, I did that all correctly, I believe. I went to the Status tab and clicked connect. It connected fine, and even got an IP address from Verizon. However, when I load up Internet Explorer, nothing. (One thing I am unsure about are the DNS servers).
Any help, guidelines, anything is greatly appreciated.

On the router's setup tab, is the pppoe connection set to keep alive? If you are using a westell or a speedstream modem, you'll need to change the router's address to a different range.
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • Looking for PPPoE host BUT connected to the Internet

Hi, so I have a home network that consists of a BritePort 8012-G1 which is set-up to connect to earthlink DSL using PPPoE with its login and password. The DSL modem is set in half-bridge mode (I am thinking of switching it to full bridge mode and authenticating with the airport extreme instead but that is really not my problem... if you have suggestions either way on this topic feel free to post in this thread but that is not the issue I want resolved) and passes ip and dns server information correctly to the airport extreme. The airport extreme is setup to share the internet connection using DHCP and NAT. There are 6 devices that connect to the airport extreme, 5 of which work perfectly. The ones that work are a Mac Pro running 10.5.4 connected through ethernet, a Macbook Pro running 10.5.4 connected through wifi, two iphones that connect using wifi when in the apartment and a nintendo wii also connecting through wifi. The last device, the one causing problems, is a macbook pro running 10.4.11 which is connecting through wifi.
The problem with this last computer is that when it connects to the airport extreme base station it continually says looking for PPPoE host in the menu bar. The strange thing is that the computer is connecting to the internet (you can browse the net and download stuff) even though it is showing the message. Even stranger is that in TCP/IP it doesn't show any DNS information (it should show the airport extreme). I had never had this happen before, but I recently changed the security settings on the airport from WPA/WAP2 to only have WAP2 so I thought that maybe by reversing it to the old setting the message would go away, but it didn't happen. You may all wonder why I think its a problem if I can still surf the net and download stuff, well first of all seeing the message is annoying, but more importantly it seems to have an effect on the speed at which I can surf the web on that computer. It is much slower than the other devices on the network and maybe it is even slowing down the network as a whole.
Just so you know, I have looked to make sure that all the use PPPoE settings are off in both the airport and ethernet configuration for this particular laptop. I have even turned them on and back off for good measure but it seems to make no difference. I have disconnected myself from the router and re-connected hundred of times.
    Thank you for you time!
    Daniel
PS Yes I have searched the forums before posting but everything I found about looking for PPPoE host had people not connected to the internet

I can't connect to my ISP using PPoE either using Firmware 7.3.2. I had to downgrade to 7.3.1 to connect to the PPoE.

  • PPPoE Menu Problem in Time Capsule

I just set up a Time Capsule 500GB as my network gateway. The Time Capsule is connected to a simple DSL modem, which just forwards the phone line over ethernet. I am using PPPoE to connect to the internet, and my DSL provider is Qwest broadband. I am also using the Time Capsule to broadcast a wireless network signal. The internet connection works fine.
When I am connected over wireless from any Mac, I see an arrow next to the Network icon, where I can connect or disconnect the Time Capsule from the internet. This is a security problem, because guests are allowed to connect to the wireless network. Theoretically, anyone can connect or disconnect me from the internet, provided they are on wifi. Is there any way to disable this functionality, or require the Time Capsule password before changing PPPoE settings?

AirPort Utility 5.6 could hardly be called a downgrade, since it was introduced on the same day as 6.x, and it  provides a number of features that were dropped in AirPort Utility 6.x
Download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion
You can use both AirPort Utility 5.6 and/or 6.x on your Mac and choose the one that you need.

  • RV220W PPPoE problems

Hi I am just trying to setup an RV220w on a FTTC BT Openreach modem and am finding that the router will not establish a connection.
In the logs I have seen the following:
Sat Jan  1 00:06:21 2000(GMT) [rv220w][System][PLATFORM] pppoeMgmtTblHandler: pppoe enable failed
Sat Jan  1 00:06:21 2000(GMT) [rv220w][System][PLATFORM] pppoeMgmtDBUpdateHandler: error in executing database update handler
I have seen some issues that people are having with the 1.0.1.0 firmware, in particular PPPoE issues. I note the router came preinstalled with 1.0.1.0 so have downgraded to 1.0.0.26.
I have removed the settings and tried again, but receive the same error message above.
The PPPoE settings are as follows:
    username:               [******]@[**********].[***]
    password:               [******************]
    Authentication Type:    Auto-Negotiate
At a bit of a loss what is going on ? I have tried resetting it to factory defaults on firmware 1.0.0.26 and entered the details again, but have the same error.
Has anyone else had success on this, I have other PPPoE devices that work absolutely no problems?

Have you tried installing the Visual C++ Redistributable 2005?  On 64-bit machines install both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
