PPRO CS4 Project won't lunch! Dead-Line is Today! SOS

OMG!
I have been working on a PPRO project (CS4) Yesterday when I was working I tried to export media to adobe media encoder - but the encoder failed to export.
Here is the report.
- Source File: C:UsersArielAppDataLocalTempShdema_4.prproj
- Output File: H:Premiere ProjectsShdemaExportsCaroline Glick.wmv
- Preset Used: PAL WMV CBR
- Video:
- Audio:
- Bitrate:
- Encoding Time: 06:09:23
3/9/2009 1:28:33 AM : Encoding Failed
Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted.
I thought to myself that this unstable encoder is making trouble - and tried to relunch PPRO.
But I couldn't! the project starts to load, but the progress bar stopped near the end.
I looked at the DISK resource monitor - and after a while there is no disk activity.
So I close PPro through the task manager.
what to do?
I tried to load an all auto-saved projects (about an hour from the last save.) But still same thing.
I found in: "C:UsersArielAppDataLocalTemp"
a temporary save from 5 hours before the problem started.
and I managed to make it load!
But when I save it again and exit PPro - it wont relunch!
something is wrong here - I don't know what.
What can I do!?
this project is almost finished - and the dead line is TODAY!!!!
Whats up with this CURSED MEDIA ENCODER!
Please Help S.o.S!

GPU: ATI x1950XT 256MB

Yes I had!
I created a few diagrams in AE and imported them to the project.
I remember that some times when I changes a diagram and re-saved as the same exported file - and premiere pro crashed after that.
I relaunched PPRo and continued working - but maybe it damaged the project somehow.
Do you think that is the reason?
On my attempts to recover this project - I tried creating a new PPro project and importing the damaged project and got the error "a Dynamic link error has accrued" .
I tried what you have suggested but I get this error:

  • How to Open PPro CS4 project in PPro CS3?

I have to make hundreds of individual avis from a Ppro CS4 project. In CS4 the Media Encoder has to open up for each one and then I must wait til it loads the clip and then I can keep them in queue and do many at once but it takes forever. Is there any way to open this project in CS3 so I can simply export movie files one after the other (without that horrible media encoder)?

Unfortunately, there is almost zero backward compatibility. I did find that Encore CS3 Projects could be Opened, with few issues, in my EncoreDVD 2.0, but that was surprising, and not of help to you.
Now, one can use a bit of a workaround, if such is required. One can edit loosely in CS4 (remember, you will want Handles), or edit very tightly with all Transitions, knowing that those will not be changed in CS3. When done, Export (for SD Projects, either the DV-AVI Type II, or Lagarith would be good), and then Import that into CS3.
Also, an EDL might be useful. There is another option, similar to EDL, that starts with an A, but my mind has gone blank. Others will be quick to offer that, and tell you if it would be useful in your case - sorry.
    Good luck,

  • Cannot save PPro CS4 project created on another PC

Another editor told me to delete the pref files but I'm double checking first.
I brought across several projects created with CS3 and CS4 on another PC.  All open and eventually load after I find all the media (the projects are > 250 gig.  The one I need (always the way, ain't it) will open but not even any of the auto-saved versions will Save.  I left it overnight and nada.  I click cancel and PPro crashes.  What is the solution?

Out of desperation I resurrected a machine that can mount the Matrox RTX2 and will try to open the wretched project with the machine it originated on.  When the project tries to load on the Super Micro server box it warns all sorts of what appear to be Matrox plugins and effects are missing so maybe that is the key.  I've never seen that little red dot with the X on it before nor the yellow caution sign that precedes it while the media is loading.  From now on all projects on the SuperMicro unit will start their lives as AJA format so we can use the $6,000 Braodcast HD monitor I bought in 2008 but haven't actually used for HD other than checking footage from the PDW700 via HD/SDI.
Hope I can open the project because I suspect there will be serious consequences if I do not.
    cheers,

I can only give you the location for PrPro 2.0 on XP-Pro. Sure that there are some changes, but maybe this will get you started: C:\Documents & Settings\[Username]\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Pro\2.0 and the file is "Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs" w/o an extension. If one "trashes the Prefs," then the Adobe program will just rebuild them with the defaults. There is also a keystroke combo, to use when launching the program. Unfortunately, almost all Adobe programs are different. I think that PrPro is hold down Shift, launch program (while holding down Shift), until it launches fully. For PS it is ShiftCtrlAlt and one gets a dialog screen, asking if one wishes to delete the Preferences - IIRC, PrPro does not have such a dialog.
For the manual trashing of the Prefs, just rename the Prefs file (should be named in a very similar fashion in CS4 and Win7), to say Old-prefs, for backup. Launch CS4, and the Prefs will be re-written.
    Good luck,

  • CS4 project won't encode.

I'm getting the "Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted." error when trying to render the project.  I know this error has been discussed in other posts, and I've tried several of the suggestions in those posts, such as creating a shortcut for Premiere in the dynamiclink folder, and uninstalling, running the cleaning script and reinstalling, but I'm still having the same problem.
When AME gives the error it lists the source project as being located in C:\Users\EDITOR~1\AppData\Local\Temp\
When I go to that location and try to open the project file from there, it locks up during the loading.
I figured that was what was causing the problem, so I tried opening AME and selecting "Import Premiere Pro Sequence" and navigating to the original project file.  The sequence loads (slowly), and I'm able to export from there.  So it's definately the temp project file that's causing the error.
Just wondering if someone had any other suggestions I could try so I didn't have to use the work-around every time.
    Thanks.

The only suggestion I can offer, however, is to wipe the hard drive and reinstall everything fresh from the OS on up.
I'll have to wait until I've got a full day with nothing else to do, which might be a while.

  • Is there a way to get a PPRO CS4 project into ADPE8

To the clever users of ADPE8 is there away to open / transfer / edit a CS4 project in ADPE8.....? Instead of exporting the final to a DV or other file format.
    Thanks
    Gavin

Going back to my acquisition of PrE 4, this was one of the first things that I tried. PrE 4 had a cute little error message, "This Project was created in PrPro 2.0. Why don't you just use that program to Open it?" or very similar.
I was surprised, when I went the other way, and PrPro Opened my PrE Project just fine. I explored what could get in the way, and found that some of the "Instant Movie" settings would do it. Otherwise, all came over pretty well (better than I expected) to PrPro. Seems that some of the New Blue Effects and Transitions caused problems, but then 3rd party stuff will. No surprises here.
I've even Opened Pr 6.5 Mac Projects in PrPro 2.0 (PC), and only 3rd party Transitions were missing. PrPro even pointed to the name of the Transition, and the exact TimeCode, where they were used, plus it marked them for me, so a simple replacement was all that was necessary to get to editing. Nice touch Adobe!
    Good luck,

  • CS4 Project won't open

Please help if anyone has had this problem. I have edited a D
ance Show using four layers of Video (down converted from AVCHD using Panasonic's con
version program to allow 4-layers of multicam).
After editing about 1 1/2 hours of the project it now refuses to open, hanging just as the file has loaded in. It appears to be something to do with the fact that when editing Premiere decides to render the project automatically (which I can't bypass). After this automatic system render none of the auto saved projects will open either, only the ones that were created and saved prior to the render.
I am tearing my hair out at this, does anyone know why and how to get round this.

Hi Dennis - pick any superlative from the following - you're a genius, a lifesaver, a total star and my new best friend. Suffice to say your answer has cracked my problem immediately. I tried the deletion of the preferences file and my project has opened up immediately. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to help me with this problem, I hope one day I can help you although I am sure you will always know far more than I do!!!
It seems so little but it means so much - thank you.

  • CS4 - Project won't load on one comp, will on another

Hello, everyone! I have a Premiere Pro CS4 file that's being troublesome. It's only about 20 minutes worth of video, and about 4.85 GB of associated files.
I have two machines, one dedicated to editing, and one dedicated to rendering. The funny thing is that my project will load on the editing machine, andit will not load on the rendering machine.
The machine that I have dedicated to editing has these specs:
    Q9400 @ 2.66ghz
    8 GB DDR3 RAM
    Intel mobo
Fatal1ty Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT 1GB Graphics card
    1x 250 GB 10000 rpm HDD
    1x 1 GB 7200 rpm HDD
    64 Bit Vista
The machine that's for rendering has these specs:
    Core i7 940 @ 2.93ghz
    12 GB DDR3
    Intel Mobo
Nvidia Quadro FX 580 Graphics card
    2x 300 GB 10000 RPM HDDs
    1x 300 GB 7200 RPM HDD (external)
Both are linked to a NAS unit. I can't for the life of me figure out why the slower computer loads it no problem, while the faster one hangs at about 2/3 of the way through the loading bar.
Thanks in advance for the help! I've called Adobe tech support, they have no clue.

Bill, thanks for the response! Much apreciated. To answer your questions..
Is the Project, and/or associated files on the NAS?
No, Sir. I've made well sure that all associated files are in one directory on a local disk. I've run project manager and amassed all assets in one directory.
On the editing machine, it loads fine whether or not I'm working from the NAS or from a Local Disk, I've tried both and both work fine.
On the rendering machine, it fails either way. I've made redundant copies on the NAS as well as the local disk, neither loads.
Is there a difference in the CODEC's installed between the two machines?
Possibly. The only Codecs on our rendering machine are the ones that were included with CS4 Master Collection, while on the editing machine, I do have apps such as AVIsynth, AVIdemux and FFDshow in addition to the codecs supplied by CS4.
To shed some light however, the project in question here is a demo project that contains bits from other projects. This demo is only about 20 minutes long. All of the original projects from which I've taken these bits loaded fine on the rendering computer, another reason as to why I'm perplexed.
What are the Assets in the Project?
Various M2TS video files, JPEGs, PNGs, one or two MP3s and a few pieces of premiere - native black video.
Again, all of these files loaded fine as part of the original main project files.
I'm guessing it's a conflict of some sort, somewhere, and loading it up on the editing machine and rendering it there works fine. The rendering machine does seem to work far faster, and while the workaround is feasible, it also holds up my workflow.
Thanks again for all the help!

  • Error:  148:3 when I try to run PPro CS4

Trying to open PPro CS4.  Won't run & I get "Error: 148:3".  This happened at the same time I had to reauthorize WinXP  (can't figure out why I had to do that).  Yes, it's an older system, but it does exactly what we want.  Upgrading would not be cost effective for what we are now doing.  I need to get this running ASAP.  Or find a quality but inexpensive way to capture analog video to AVI without sync problems.  Thank you all!

    >quality but inexpensive way to capture analog video to AVI without sync problems
What hardware do you use in the digitizing process?
I have NOT used either, but many say to try these for SD capture http://windv.mourek.cz/ or http://www.exsate.com/products/dvcapture/
I have NOT used it, but many say to try this for HDV capture

  • PPro CS4 won't play back

Suddenly video in Premiere Pro CS 4.0.0 for Mac won't play back from source window, program window, or timeline, except for an occasional playback of < 1 second. Scarily this was described by a bunch of users in a thread started two years ago. Only one solution was offered there, which didn't apply to my Mac.
I was involved in another thread on a related subject in this forum once before but that setup seemed connected to the use of a Dazzle Bridge for capturing. There's no such complication now...it's just not playing any video more than a few frames.
An editor who can't playback any video is in trouble, and after paying as much as I did for this program and a Mac Pro, it is disheartening. Any ideas out there?

I appreciate everyone's help but I'm afraid the situation has gone from bad to worse, since Premiere suddenly disappeared.
Yesterday, following one bit of forum advice, I tried using a separate user account labeled Premiere Pro and the program did play the files--though it wouldn't let me save the project file where it resided. Now, however, the program is nowhere to be found. I have the original installation disk but I have heard of problems arising from reinstallations.
To answer some other questions, I did try to download the latest update for PPro CS4. I am using PPro for Mac on a Mac Pro with a 10.5.8 OS. I can't say for certain exactly which version I "have" of PPro CS 4 since the update because the program has disappeared and is not turning up in the Finder anywhere, nor can I recall the exact wording of the error message saying I couldn't save my project as edited under the alternate user. The program and system worked fairly problem free for almost four years before the last few days. I use a variety of source footage, including .avi, .mov, .flv, .mp3, .wav.
One Snow Leopard user has recommended using a Root User account which doesn't seem to apply here. For example, he referred to a "Network Account  User" option that was supposed to appear in Accounts/Login Options but doesn't on my Leopard. Also, as per another user at Trafford College, I revised permissions to select Everyone...however since the program isn't appearing on my computer, there's no telling if that worked.
Community help is greatly appreciated--especially in light of one forum report of someone who was on the phone with Adobe for hours with this kind of problem but without getting it solved.

  • Loading Project problem in Adobe Ppro CS4

Just registered in this forum and I hope you guys can help me out.
I've been editing in PPro CS4 for quite sometime now and my main problem is during the loading of the project.
    here are my specs:
    Processor: i7 @ 2.8ghz
    OS: Win7 Ultimate 32-bit
    RAM: 4GB
    VC: ATI HD4670 1GB/128 bit
    Storage:       C: - 320GB 7200rpm Seagate SATA
                       D: - 1TB  7200rpm Western Digital SATA
since I upgraded drastically from a Quad 2 Core to an i7 I decided to use the HD1080i30 (60i) preset in Pprocs4 since I have a sanyo xacti1010 HD cam. But up to now I am unable to finish my video because after the project loads up many of my clips turn into green screen while others no longer play the actual clip.
    now my questionS are:
    1. Is it because my computer can't handle the specific preset or is my camera not compatible with the preset. If not, which preset should I use?
    2. If it's not because of the preset, then where can I find the source of the problem? Specs? Software? Me? :|
I'm not the techie type and I am just starting to understand the technical aspects of editing. I hope a lot of you can help me out because I'm losing my mind and I really want to start editing again.
    THANKS in advance!

The Xacti uses it's own version of some MPEG4 codec. That works great with applications like Nero or Ulead, typical consumer applications. PR however is more oriented to standard video camera formats, that are shown in the available presets, like AVCHD.
There have been more questions about the Xacti and how to make it work, but I think these are mainly in the Premiere Elements forum. I would look around in the PE forum and do a search. You may come up with relevant asnwers.

  • PPro CS4 and CS5 installed and Windows 7 default launch from project dbl-click is...CS4?

This is sort of a curious one.  I have to keep CS4 installed to edit Camtasia files as their codec is a 32 bit no-go with 64 bit CS5...
Oddly, when I double-click any PPro project (most were created in CS5), they will launch CS4, not CS5.  When i go into properties and attempt to link a different application as the default for this project type, I browse to PPro CS5's executable and choose it, but end up back in the "Open with" dialog which again, only shows PPro CS4 as an option.
Oddness...  anybody else seeing this?  I just launch CS5 from it's shortcut and it loads whatever I want without an issue, but I still double click without thinking 3-5 times a week and have to back out...It's an annoyance.

    Tim,
Are you comfortable wading around in the Windows registry? If so, you can probably fix this with a quick digit change:
In the Registry Editor (launch regedit from the Run dialog), find the following key: Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell\open\command.
Once you select the "command" key, you'll see the program destination string on the right side; likely it's pointing to CS4. Double-click the "(Default)" string and change the value to to following, exactly as pasted here:
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\Adobe Premiere Pro.exe" "%1"
That's with the outside quotes and everything. OK the change, and you may or may not need a system restart, but that should correct the issue. Basically the file extension (in this case, .PRPROJ) is associated with a class (Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project), and that class points to default application. Once that's fixed up, the chain should be put back together.
Also, there is another key in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell\open\command. Changing the above should change this as well, but you may want to check it.

  • Can Ppro CS3 projects be imported by Media Encoder CS4

    Hello:
I have Ppro CS3. I also have the Design Suite CS4.  I would like to render out Ppro CS3 sequences or projects into F4V files in Media Encoder CS4.
Does anyone know if this is possible?  When I select "add Premiere sequence" in Media Encoder CS4 and find the Ppro project in the file tree Media Encoder hangs just upon selecting the Premiere project without even attempting to add to the render queue.  I am not sure if this is because CS3 project are incompatible, or for some other reason. As mentioned, Media Encoder CS4 hands as soon as the Premiere project is clicked to selected and before "ADD" is clicked to add to the render queue.
Anyone come across this problem?  Is it fixable, or are Ppro CS3 projects just incompatible with Media Encoder CS4.
    Thanks.
    Jeff

    I appreciate the reply.
However, unfortunately, I do not have Premiere Pro CS4.  This is why I am trying to export to Media Encoder CS4. I own the Design Premium CS4 suite which has Media Encoder CS4 version built in.
Media Encoder actually is a stand alone product.  When you bring the program up, It has import options for the files you wish to encode.  One of the options is to import a PPro sequence.  However, when searching the system for Sequences, I could only figure out how to get to the Pproj files.
Documentation appears to indicate the Pproj files are compatible with Media Encoder.  However, when I droped in the Pproj file from Premiere Pro CS3, I got a message that it was not a compatible file (message text may not have been that exact statement).
This is why I was curious to see if there is a version compatibility issue, or if someone can tell me how to other render out of Premiere CS3 into the Media Encoder version that comes with CS4 suites.
    Thanks.
    Jeff

  • Working on a CS4 project in CS5.5 - Flash won't let me save FLA normally (ctrl+s)

I started working on a Flash project and I'll be moving it back and  forth between two different computers. The project was originally  started in Flash CS4. The other computer has Flash CS5.5 installed. So  when in CS5.5 I save the fla as a CS4 version FLA.
I hit Save As... and  then from the Save As Type pull-down menu I selected CS4 Fla document and I  assumed that from then on I could just hit ctrl+s to save the project  and it would maintain the CS4 version. But that isn't quite what's  happening. Every time I hit ctrl+s a Flash Compatibility Warning pops up  and tells me that I need to use Save As... and then Save As Type again  to keep it a CS4 document.
So basically, from what I understand, when working on a CS4 project in CS5.5 - I can't use Save. I can only use Save as...
This is really annoying because I am accustomed to hitting ctrl+s pretty often.
And  now EVERY TIME I wish to do a simple save, I need to hit ctrl+shift+s,  then select CS4 from the Save As Type menu, then hit save, and then  click YES when asked if to overwrite the previous file with the same  name.
    Is this a bug?

Flash will let me Embed the FLV but not let me use it for playback.

  • Ppro CS4 Won't Open

I have Premiere 6.5 in my computer. I had Ppro CS3 on the same computer and it worked fine. Recently my hard drive crashed but I had backed everything up before adding CS3 so I ghosted it all to a new hard drive and added Ppro CS4. But it keeps disappearing fromn my screen either while opening or after importing a video file. What is causing the instability. I never have Premiere 6.5 opened at the same time. The same computer worked with Ppro CS3. Why not Ppro CS4? I uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times.

    Here is the link.
The instruction are there also, and I do not know of any shortcut.

  • (PPro CS4/Windows) AVCHD to DVCPRO HD Converter

I just recently won a Sony HDR-PJ270, which shoots AVCHD 1080 60i (30 frames per second, 60 fields)/60p (60 progressive frames per minute --- twice the frame rate of NTSC).  The camera also records in MP4 --- but from what I can figure out it only does that if you are in "Dual-Mode", where it records the AVCHD as your "Good" footage, and then the MP4 is recorded for uploading to the internet.
Anyway I was testing some footage in PPro CS4, and the AVCHD was really causing my system to just slow down --- way---way---way down.  I've downloaded the Koyote Free HD Video converter, and I really was not impressed with the conversion quality (of course I'm not too impressed with the video quality when playing right from the camera to my TV via HDMI---but I think that has to do with AVCHD's compression and color space of 4:2:0---on smaller lines, such as pinstriping on a car, I was finding the color moving around just like I used to find with S-VHS and narrow lines) whether it is DVD for clients or I also volunteer at a local cable station and sometimes I do news stories for them and they still broadcast at 480i, so while this camera will not be used for my main camera, I may use it for wide angle shots (i.e. at a concert set it up on wide at the back of the auditorium).  So is there a converter out there that will convert the AVCHD to DVCPRO HD or even DVCPRO50 (still keep the AVCHD files for future use) so that I can edit the video without draining my system's resources?

I did play with the camera and TV settings, but nothing changed.  Even just playing the file back with WMP it has the issue.  As for 4:2:0 I never found it offered good color, even at SD levels---I prefer, and find, the formats that deal with 4:1:1 or 4:2:2 or. 4:4:4 color spaces due to the better color, due to less crosstalk.
