PR and AME 8.1.0 Export H.264 Blu-ray Creates Malformed xmpses File

Posting this here in PR, but this also applies to AME. The bug report was coded to AME. The only symptom may be upon import to Encore. See issue and bug report in this thread: Re: Re: Encore won't import markers with bluray vid output from Premiere through Media Encoder
Bug report filed. This appears to affect H.264 Blu-ray exports from PR 8.1.0 directly or through AME 8.1.0. It does not affect MPEG2 Blu-ray. The only practical symptom identified so far is a failure of files to import to Encore without deleting the xmpses file, which results in loss of chapter markers. A possible workaround is to modify the xmpses file.
Has this already been identified as a bug? Are there any other consequences?

Hey Kevin -
Having this issue on my new PC. I posted this on the Encore thread too but figured I'd update this thread as well. Hopefully the fix is coming in the next update (8.1.1?) Interestingly, I'm using 8.0.1 right now and I'm in my first week using my new PC (switched last week from long time Mac user) and both projects I exported had this issue. What's strange is that on my PC when exporting projects to the H264 Bluray format I get the xmpses and and xmp file whereas on the mac I only got the xmpses file. Even stranger is that I never had this issue on my Mac and when I bring in a project that I just exported using my mac into Encore on my PC it doesn't give the "error parsing MPEG..." message and all chapter markers come in just fine. These exports were just from last week using the same version of Premiere (8.0.1) I'm using AME 2014.1 though on this new PC whereas I can't remember on my mac if I had updated it yet to 2014.1  I don't think I did. Can't remember and I already wiped and sold it. Anyway, glad to hear the bug has been isolated and hope for a fix real soon. Thank you!

  • AME Shuts Down when exporting H.264 Blu Ray

I have a current project that was shot in HDV and I am trying to export an H.264 Blu Ray file.  This is a 4 Disk set and the other 3 files exported with no problems but for some reason I cannot get this last one (which happens to be Disk #3).  I will start AME running as I am getting ready to leave my office.  When I come back in the morning there is nothing open on my desktop, just the normal screen.  Anyoen have any ideas???  Below are my export setting and computer info

  • Exporting H.264 Blu-ray material in CS3

    System:
2009 Mac Pro 3.33GHz Quad core
    Snow Leopard 10.6.5
    16GB RAM
    Radeon HD 5870
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, 3.2.0
    Video material:
DVCProHD, 1080p60i/24p, 23.976fps shot on P2, MXF file format.
    Exporting to:
H.264 Blu-ray via Adobe Media Encoder
I can render Blu-ray material, and even burn it in an internal LG 10x Blu-ray burner that I installed.  The result was wonderful when played back on a Blu-ray player and HDTV.
What I cannot figure out is why I have to render projects in small little segments, rather than one large one, and then line them all up on a timeline in Encore.  I then have to rearrange my chapter points, since Encore places a chapter marker at each clip.  It's not the biggest deal in the world, but it's just annoying.
I've tried different settings, and the one that gives me the most success is starting with the preset for H.264 (Blu-ray), HDTV 1080p 23.976 High Quality, and switching the Profile from High to Main, and leaving the rest alone.  I'm not sure if I tried HDTV 1080i 29.97... maybe I should.  Whether it crashes or not seems to depend on how many effects are in the clip, or how long the segment is, but I can usually get away with up to about 10000 frames of video without a crash.  The crash almost always occurs during the second pass of VBR encoding.  It closes Premiere and offers the crash report window, which I am not good at decyphering.  Anyway, I always submit the crash report with what I was trying to do.  Adobe has many of them from me now.
Can anyone shed some light as to why it only allows 6000-10000 frames go through this encoding process?  My system will show that it only used about 6 out of 16 GB of RAM after a fresh reboot.  It helps if I reboot between each encode session, as well.  If I try to encode two short segments without rebooting between, I usually get a crash.  Also, I can encode DVDs just fine with the same project.  I encoded the 105 minute movie with all the same effects, clips, etc. and the DVD was flawless on the first try.  It's just the H.264 Blu-ray setting that jacks it up.
I'm glad I can get the thing done piecemeal, but I was hoping someone could at least explain why it's so difficult. (:

I would agree, and I think it must have to do with RAM.  When I get a segment exported successfully, the Activity Monitor shows very close to all 16 GB used in many cases.  I surmise that when the program sucks too close to all 16GB up, it crashes.

  • Premier CS4 will export H.264 Blu Ray, but not a H.264 file.

When I export the file under H.264, Adobe Encoder won't even load the project file. However, it loads and completely exports my 25 minute 1080p HD 24 fps film under the H.264-Blu Ray option which takes about 17 hours on my Dinosaur PC.
So basically, I already have a 25 minute 4 gig film on a Blu-ray disc that I burned at my friends Modern computer, and now I just want a standalone MP4 file as a backup.
    Anyone?
    Bill Hunt?
    Specs,
    Windows XP service pack 3
    2.8  Ghz
    3.25 GB RAM
    37G free HD
    and 30G free on a 640G EXTERNAL

Despite the Interlaced UFF export setting, the H.264 option doesn't respect that and exports out a poorly deinterlaced progressive video instead.
If you need interlaced H.264, always use the H.264 Blu-ray option.

  • Exporting 1080P25 to Blu-Ray

I'm working on a film shot in 1440*1080p25, and I'll eventualy want to put it on Blu-Ray disc. In Premiere, when I look at Export > Media > MPEG2 Blu-Ray, 1080p25 is not listed, but 1080i25 is. Also in the booklet for my camera (Canon HV30) it says 1080p25 is recorded as 1080i50. Does this mean I'll be able to export 1080p25 to Blu-Ray using the 1080i25 setting?
    Tim

This is very depressing! I've got lots of questions now:
1/ If I export this 1080p25 film using the 1080i setting in the Media encoder, will it convert my 1080p footage to 1080i?
2/ I know there is 30% less vertical definition (a deliberate blurring to avoid line flicker) with 1080i than with 1080p (which is why I used 1080p in the first place), but is this blurring introduced at the record stage (by the camcorder), or is it added later? (if the former I'll lose no definition by converting it to 1080i).
3/ My camera booklet says it records 1080p as 1080i, so surely the 1080i setting in the Media encoder will accept it? After all 1080p is simply 1080i with both fields identical?
4/ What about converting to 1080p24?
5/ If all above fails, how can I get 1080p25 onto disc or some other medium so that it can be copied, shown in public, etc?

  • Exporting to HD Blu ray

I've got a broad question and then something more specific.  Can anyone point me to a place where I can find a good, ground-up tutorial for the intricacies of video encoding via Premiere Pro?  I can appreciate the power of this program but I am a bit overwhelmed by the number of options when it comes to exporting, among other things.
In particular, I have an MP4 that is OLD.  I was able to import it into PP5 and then export under the Blu Ray option.  However, my PC won't play it.  Is there any way I can view what I exported?  What should I expect in terms of quality for a video like that?  It was a huge file, as expected, but I can't see how it looks right now.  Is there an Adobe product or 3rd party product that would allow me to watch it?

  • AME H.264 Blu-ray Presets

The PAL H.264  Blu-ray presets in AME have "Profile" set as High, but in the printed manual for Encore on page 48 at the top there is a warning in italics
"Note: for Blu-ray projects, the encoding profile must be Main when you select H.264 as the encoding format.  You cannot burn a Blu-ray disc when the encoding profile is set to High."
Can anyone give a definitive answer as to which is correct, please?
Message was edited by: Alan Craven

I think that I may have the answer to my own question.  I scrolled down the list of H.264 presets in Adobe Media Encoder and found that ALL the HD presets, PAL or NTSC; 1920,1440, or 720; interlaced or progressive, have the Profile set at High.  Only the four High Quality SD presets at the bottom have Profile set at Main.
A little research makes me suspect that the warning in the printed Encore CS4 manual that I quote in my first post has the crucial words "Standard  Definition" missing from it:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264/MPEG-4_AVC#Profiles
A search of the Adobe on-line help throws up a blank for this topic, and the equivalent section to pp 47-8 of my printed Encore CS4 manual is taken from the CS3 Help files, and does not include much of the information that is in my manual.

  • I can't see a H.264 Blu Ray Format on AME CS6.

    Good day!
I just wanna ask how can't I see the format H.264 Blu Ray on my AME CS6. I've provided a screen capture for you to see.
    Thanks.

    I already reinstalled it.
I'm gonna try installing After Effects and see if that Blu Ray appears.
    Wish me luck!

  • Media Coder Failing with MPEG2-DVD and H.264 Blu-Ray Encode

I am useing Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 8.0.0.173 build.
    I am a CC subscriber.
I am importing a Premiere Pro CC 2014 timeline.
I also have Premiere Pro CS6, Photoshop CC and CS6, Encore CS6, Lightroom 5, Indesign CC and CS6 installed.  Just updated all apps from the cloud.
When exporting the timeline to MPEG2-DVD I get the failed status.
In the text note section this is the result: MXF decode error in "J:\Murray-Gross Wedding\CLIPS001\AA0068\AA006802.MXF" at frame 16339. Frame 16316 was substituted.
    I had several frames substituted.
I tried both the Mercury Playback Engine GPU acceleration and I also tried the software only version.
    The original footage is;
    MXF File details:
Wrapper type: MXF OP1a (type: SingleItem SinglePackage MultiTrack Stream Internal)
    File generated by: CANON, XF100
    MPEG-2 422 Long-GOP
I was able to export the timeline to an avi file from Pro CC 2014.  But P Pro told me that the export had failed.  When I checked the folder though the avi file was there.
I am running Windows 7 home premium.
I need to make a DVD of this footage.  And would prefer not to reformat the avi file I created.  Thanks in advance.

Do you get encode complete with Errors or are you getting encode failed (no encoded file)?  The reason frames were substituted is because the source file had errors or other problems.  So during import, PPro and AME substitute bad frame with adjacent good frame and continue to import.  But if there are way too many bad errors and source is too corrupted, it may not be able to import it correctly and won't be able to export.  so let us know if you get exported file and you are just curious what the error message was or if you don't get encoded files going to MPEG2-DVD at all.

  • Still no fix for Chapter Markers exporting in H.264 Blu-ray for Encore import Error

Why didn't this fix take place in the recent PPRO 2014.2 update?
I still get the error in Encore that I can import the movie file due to chapter markers.
Does this mean we cant any more use Encore for authoring DVDs or Blurays?
Really don't like the Delete the chapter reference file to do this.

The bug appears fixed to me.
First, I updated only AME to 2014.2. I exported directly from PR 2014.1, and, as expected, the xmpses file is malformed and import to Encore fails. Export using the queue (and therefore clearly AME), the export shows a corrected xmpses file, and import to Encore works.
Then I updated PR to 2014.2. Now, direct export from PR also works.
I did not test updating PR and not AME, and that might present a different result.
What are your versions of PR and AME?
Edit: couldn't resist. Rolled back AME to 2014.1 with PR still updated to 2014.2. Direct Export from PR works.

  • Export Media to H.264 Blu-Ray 720p 30fps?

I have video I've shot on a point and shoot camera which shoots video at 720p (1280x720) at 30fps.   I'm able to import it into Premier CS4, edit, etc.   Then when I go to export the media to Media Encoder I'm looking for the preset to match this input - which would be 720p at 30fps.   I want to burn this to blu-ray so I'm picking the H.264 720p blu-ray preset.   However, there doesn't appear to be any presets for chosing 30fps to match my video.   It only allows 24fps or 60fps.  I've tried picking this preset, then trying to change the fps setting - but 30fps is not an option so it doesn't appear I can change it.
So far it looks like my only option is to reduce the quality of the video and choose NTSC DV Widescreen which is only 720x480.  Quality is reduced, but it does have a 30fps option to match my video.   Not sure I like that option because I really don't want to reduce my video quality.  OR I could go up to a higher quality like 1440x1080 - but not sure if that's good since it encoding to a higher quality than the actual video.
What am I missing?   Why am I not finding a 30fps option for 720p?
    Thanks!

Keep in mind I'm pretty new at this stuff - but I was trying to keep my video at 30fps since it was recorded at 30fps.   The only problem is apparently 30fps isn't supported for 720x1280.   So I'm really not sure if I should keep 720, but go with 24fps, 50fps, or 60fps.   Since 1080i had a 30fps is chose that.
If I go with 720 24fps won't it drop frames which would take away from the smoothness of the video?   I wasn't sure what bumping up to 50 or 60fps would do since it would be adding frames I didn't capture.
So being a novice, I really didn't know how to handle this.
Any suggestions on the "preferable" way that I should handle this type of video?
Thanks - I appreciate the advice!

  • Exporting AVCHD to blue-ray

Hi everyone. I am very new to the world of H.D. and I have a question. Simply... what do I have to do to export my video to blue ray from fcp7? I do have an external blue ray burner that I assembled my self and yes it does work. Just not sure of the settings for proper export. I see that idvd will not burn full H.D. 1080i video and nor will dvdsp because its a dvd burning software and not a Blue Ray application. The video that I am exporting will have chapters so I'm wondering if the new Toast titanium 11 will work. Any suggestions or advise? Thanks so much in advance.
I am also using Premeire Pro cs5.5 if that could help in any way.

    http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/20/861769
It's a couple years old but still relevant. It uses 5.1 audio, but will work for 2.0 also. Toast Titanium 10 is used, but 11 will work too. The compression is MPEG-2 which compresses alot faster than AVC and if you crank the bit rate it looks great. Don't bother using 2 pass, one pass is good.In the Encode tab under "extras" you can select to use chapter markers. At max bit rate you should get approximately 90 minutes with 192kbs. AC-3.
    Good Luck.

  • How to Export HDV for Blu-Ray?

When editing in DV mode, I would export an avi and a wav file, use Tmpgenc to convert the avi to an m2v file, then import the m2v and wav files into Tmpgenc DVD Author 16 to build a menu and burn a DVD. How do I burn a Blu-Ray disc after editing HDV? What are the steps? (I have a Blu-Ray burner and Blu-Ray discs.) I downloaded Tmpgenc Authoring Works 4 Trial, but it wouldn't recognize an m2v file that I made using Adobe Encoder. I can't use Encore because something screwed up upon installation and now it refuses to install it again. All I get are error messages.

Yes, fixing an installation is a pain but it will help you in the long run.  You're asking for an aspirin to take away the pain of a broken leg.  Fix the leg.
My thought would be that even if you try to work a blu-ray with some other program, your system problems will cause it to have the same problem.
Try a simple uninstall of Adobe products, get and run the CS4 clean script, run whatever disk checking program you have on the system, do whatever maintainence is appropriate and then reinstall the Adobe apps, run the updaters and hopefully you'll be good to go.
It's a pain, but it will likely be worth it.

I have the older rounded airport and would like to connect it to a Sony blu-ray player via a LAN. Any thoughts?

I assume that your Sony Blu-ray player is network-ready and has an Ethernet port ... correct? If so, there shouldn't be any reason why it couldn't be connected to the LAN (opposing arrows) port on the 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) to gain network/Internet access.

  • Blu-Ray and Pal Question - client wants us to make blu-ray

A client of mine wants their event shot in HD and final output as blu-ray.
They also want a third party to be able to watch the video in indonesia which is PAL territory if I'm correct.
    - should i assume that a blu ray player in indonesia will play a blu-ray video just fine without the pal / ntsc issues?
    - should we make a separate NTSC SD DVD of the video and tell them to buy the third party a NTSC DVD player to ship to indonesia along with a NTSC SD version of the video?
    Any advice or suggestions?
    thanks

There is no NTSC or PAL in Blu ray. European and Asian players play all BD resolutions and frame rates
