PR Crashing..  "Invalid data size/invalid frame rate" warning message..

Ad. Pr CS4:  When I try to export any project, before media encoder even loads, I receive a warning saying that the data size is improper and that the frate rate is invalid.. then it shuts down.  have restarted machine.
Whats going on with this?  I have been using every day for the past 8 months, now problems..

Can you provide more information?
This ARTICLE will give you tips on the info that would be very important.

  • What do the "Automatic" settings do for Frame size and Frame rate in Compressor 4.1.1?

Can anyone tell me, very specifically and with technical detail, what the "Automatic" settings do (in Compressor 4.1.1) for the following setting attributes: (1) Frame size and (2) Frame rate
    Thank you!

Hi, in addition to Russ's advice for the VIDEO PROPERTIES in the Inspector, you might consider the "automatic" options being proposed by compressor.app V4.1.x as OPTIMAL for the destination codec you have specified that deviate (or differ in some way) form the MASTER (source) from where your are transcoding. There's no real TECHNICAL detail. These UI values simply are passed as parameters to the codec. The image/audio results can be PREVIEWed ofcourse in the compressor.app V4.1.x UI (Current PAne) ... us the slider and the timeline to determine final taste!
    Suggested Examples may include:
REDUCED frame rate for a slower device or stream or bit rate or destination dleivery platform
reduced bit rate for older devices
smaller FRAME SIZE for say SD devices specified
INCREASED frame size with added "padding" in a situation like LETTERBOXING (4:3 in a 17:9 for example.. may others)
ye old PAL to NTSC conversion
inter-frame group of pictures (GOP) for distribution.
    Scaling
    retiming
    cropping verses scaling
or simply what compressor.app "thinks" would work best - usually the best for most work.
others will have many more suggestions.
Also note that there are some nice  overidding settings in the inspector/Video for resizing and retiming and Cropping you might consider.
For client based production distributions, many of us use CUSTOMISED settings. You may create and delete these on an AS NEEDED basis.
Lastly, There's likely a good write up the defaults in the latest Compressor.app V4.1 Users Guide PDf - you might want to pull it down from http://manuals.apple.com and shove it in ibooks.app. I recommend getting a copy. Also get the latest FCPX 10.1 Users Guide and Motion while you're there. Great for iPAD and iPHONE too if you get bored.
    FWIW.

  • Data Import- Succesful load and warning message

    Hi,
-I exported data from server X in a txt file using the Export Package, afterwards, I located the file which resides on "bpc" for example:  C:PC_MSDataWebfoldersEPlanningBUDGET2DATAMANAGERDATAFILES
    - I copied/pasted  the txt into a new server, used the import package  (first uploading the file, then running the import package).
    - The package ran "succesfully with a warning"
Log: More than max reject count records rejected, please check transformation file
So far, the base members I've checked were loaded succesfully.
Can anyone explain this please, what is the risk ?
    Thanx in advance
    Velázquez

    Hi Shoba,
Thanx for the response, the information is very useful, however I cant find this "max reject count" in the transformation file, should I type it?
. I checked the file members and indeed, 3 parent members appeared in the txt   I repeated the procedure deleting this members and the import is succesful now.
    - In order to get the txt file, I used the export package but filtered the "base members"  using the filter MANUAL which is provided  in the prompt. I heard that this filter is used to retrieve all members that are supposed to receive data manually = base members, this is why I thought that the file has only available members to use.
    - Since this is the problem, I came up with the idea of creating a property for my Base M. and apply this filter to the next extraction of data, do you suggest something different?
    - Is there a limit of members to export-import ?
    Regards

  • PrE 9.0 wont let me share as H.264 1280x720p 29.97 fps - keeps changing frame rate

As the title says I am unable to create an export with the following settings:
    H.264
    1280x720p
29.97 (or 30, neither possible) fps
I have tried editing the existing H.264 presets but the following happens:
I go into Share > Computer > MPEG and select the Preset "H.264 1440x1080i 30" then hit the "Advanced" button.
All I want is to change the resolution to match my project size, 1280x720 which I do - but then something happens
As soon as I change "Frame Dimensions (pixels)" to 1280x720, the fps is automatically changed to 59.94 and when I click the dropdown box for the frame rate, I can only pick the following:
    23.976
    24
    59.94
    Automatic (based on source)
Since I can't pick 30 or 29.97 I tried picking Automatic but that sets it to 23.976 - even though it clearly states that my source is at 29.97 fps...
At this point I don't really know what else to try and any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
EDIT: Just thought I'd also mention that the source is from a GoPro Hero HD cam which shoots in 1280x720 H.264 AVC so I did select "NTSC AVCHD LITE 720p30" as the project profile
EDIT2: Found Bill Hunt's premade profiles for the GoPro and Premiere Pro. Trying them out right now and it seems to be working. But I still cannot create a profile with 29.97 fps at 1280x720 myself

With certain file formats and codecs, you will be limited in the configuration of size or frame rate. It sounds like the output format you've selected is one of them.
Try going to Share/Computer/MOV and see if that makes a difference.

  • SEQUENCE SETTINGS CS6  ( CAN'T CHANGE VIDEO SIZE OR frame size  )

    Wow
I am a big fan of Adobe, but this i don't understand. Why can't you cahnge the sequence settiings in CS6. The sequence settings such as video frame size, and frame rate ae graded out. This makes it very hard when dealing with proxies. I am guessing they took this feature out because of the warp stabilizer. They should give you the option to be able to choose between warp stabilizer and sequence settings. If anyone knows how to fix this, Please help!

PP has long fixed the Sequence settings once they're created.  The standard method of dealing with this is to create a new sequence and simply Copy/Paste all the clips from old to new.

  • "Bad TIFF Data size" or "Invalid primary IFD offset" error

    Hi,
I'm creating a php module from the XMP sdk. Compilation is ok with gcc 4.2 on a FreeBSD Os, but when I try to call the getXMP function for a jpeg file, I have the following error :
    - "Bad TIFF Data size", when I use a jpeg file without metadatas,
    - "Invalid primary IFD offset" when I use a jpeg file with valid xmp headers (and when I test some values, I found that the system give the error by the test mainIFDOffset > (length - kEmptyIFDLength) , but the values are 8 > (6016 - 6) ...which is a bit confusing...
    - or sometimes "Undefined symbol "XML_ParserCreateNS" " when I use the BlueSquare.jpg file, found in the XMP Toolkit SDK zip...
Can anyone help me to found what's going wrong ?
    Thanks a lot !

Ok, so I found the solution by myself. The problem was that I compiled on a x64 system :
    - first, be sure you compile all the .c files needed : if missing, there might be no error during compilation, but functions or classes not found when using.
    - get the correct expat lib for your system (there are some modifications for freebsd)
    - If you compile for a x64 sys :there are some errors in LargeFileAccess.c : change all the lines
    int refNum = (int)file
    to
    long refNum = (long)file
because pointers are in 64bits, and can't be converted to int 32....

  • Invalid Frame Size Error - Windows Media

I'm getting this "Preset Error - Invalid Frame size!" whenever I try to render my comp using any of the Windows Media presets. I got this error two days ago using my custom Windows Media preset (which I always use). I tried everything I found to solve this problem with no success...
I hope any of you can help me out with this.
    Thanks for reading!

I've got same worning message and struggled to make it work.
It seems "windows media" encorder only accept certen ratio for video output.
I used following for resolution on composition setting
    1679 x 1049 --> gets error
Now I changed it to following, then no error message.
    1680 x 1080 ---> works fine
(Select composition then go to "Composition>Composition Settings", go to "Basic" tab, cahnge "Width" and "Height")

  • How to change the maximum frame rate of the camera by changing the image size?

I have two  acA2040-180km cameras which are connected to 2 NI PCIe-1433 framegrabbers, I am monitoring my cameras by LabView, maximum allowable frame rate is about 187 for full resolution images, but I just need a small fraction of the images, I know if I make the images smaller, FPS will get higher, but it isn't possible by changing the image size in NI MAX, I've also tried to change the size by defining the region of interest in the grab setup.vi, but it would be after going to camera so it isn't the case as well, so I need a VI to go to the camera before starting to take photo and define the region of interest which is going to be captured, would you please help me to find it?
Please help me, this problem get me stuck!!!

Have you tried changing the image size using property nodes as Bruce suggested? Do remember with Basler cameras, reducing the width only will not affect the transfer speed but the reducing the height will. Have a look at the frame calculator to understand what you frame rates you can acheive with certain settings:

  • Document contains an invalid frame

On open, on a long document in InDesign CS6 (8.0) I'm getting:

    Document contains an invalid frame.
    Story text begins -

    Delete frame and associated story?
    ==
If I click 'No' it gives me the next figure (about forty of them) and then ultimately, the document opens.
    Ideas?
    Thanks

    Your file won't open, right?
Legacy files are known to have problems from time to time, and the most reliable way I know to avoid those problems is to export .inx, when possible, from the original version. The second most reliable is to export .idml from the original version.
There are some scripts that will do a batch conversion to .inx or .idml to help you, if you have a lot of files, and if you think you don't have to thoroughly check every legacy file you open in a new version you are sadly mistaken. If you open a .indd file directly, as soon as you start to edit any text it will reflow to confrom to the new text engine and you may not see the problems on the page where you are working. .inx/.idml forces the entire document to recompose as soon as it opens.

  • Getting data rate, frame rate for encoded clips

In quicktime movie info gives frame rate and lots of great

PC. I need to see the results of my choices. I don't understand why
this is so hard to find.

    >bit lost since I bought a new HD video camera. This project needed to be on DVD
A DVD is MUCH lower than the resolution of your new camera... the picture in the next link shows the relative sizes... your DVD is never going to look as good as a BluRay, which is what is needed to have HD video

I'm getting a message on a print document that I'm working that reads "Document contains an invalid frame. Story text begins -  Delete frame and associated story?" Regarless of my choice, ID becomes unresponsive. Anybody now what's going on/how to save it?

Yes. There's a script that does just that. Give me a moment while I find it.
    Found it:
    // blindOpen_and_IDML-Export.jsx
    var _file = File.openDialog("InDesign-Datei"); // Selection of a file
    if(_file != null)
var d = app.open(_file, false); // Open the file without showing it
    d.exportFile(ExportFormat.INDESIGN_MARKUP,  File(_file.fullName.replace(/.indd$/i,'.idml'))); // Export im IDML-Format
    d.close(SaveOptions.NO); // Close without saving

  • Quick Notation Question - Data Rates/Frame Rates/Interlacing

Finally upgraded to a decent prosumer camera and I'm trying to decipher what the manual is telling me about the many different formats it shoots and and the associated options.  I keep seeing things like "There are two basic shooting modes: 720p and 1080i/p.", which I'm finding confusing.  In my understanding, the "p" in 720p means progressive video and the "i" in 1080i means interlaced.  So what do I make of 1080i/p?
On top of this, my camera shoots in "native" mode, which drops duplicate frames used in "over 60" formats.  This will give me variations in the notation like:
    720/24pN
    720p Native 60 fps
    1080i/24p
    1080/24PN
Can someone give me a quick primer about frame rate vs data rate and explain how to read these notations?  I'd appreciate it quite a bit.
    Thanks!

There are so many cameras, capable of so many different formats that providing a manufacturer and model could be helpful in this discussion.
Jim's answer is absolutely correct but I'm going to re-state for clarification.
The i/p designation means you can chose to record as interlaced or progressive for a given resolution.
It sounds like your camera is designed to "capture" images at 60 frames per second, selecting "native" mode means extra frames are deleted and only the desired frames, based on frame rate setting, are recorded to memory. The advantage of "native" @ 24fps is you save space on your memory card. The advantage of NOT using "native" mode is that all 60 frames per second are recorded, but the file metedata tells playback software to only show the frames needed for the specified frame rate (i.e. 24). Since all 60 frames per second are recorded, you use more memory but you also have the option of retrieving all the those frames, if you so desire, at a later time (i.e. for smoother slo-mo).
To be honest I don't know what your spec of 1080i/24p means. If that is truly an option then I would guess it means it will record a 24p image but the metedata would indicate the file should playback at 30fps interlaced by adding the proper 3:2 pulldown. This would give you that "film" look in a broadcast compatible format.
For the most part, you don't want use use any interlaced settings. Very few display devices still in use can properly display interlaced images. Interlacing is only required in some broadcast specifications.
    To answer the second part of your question;
Frame rates are an indication of how many times the moving image is captured over a given period (per second). Higher frame rates means smoother, more "real life" motion. Data rates can generally be considered an indication of image or audio quality. Higher levels of compression result in lower data rates and (generally) lower quality. If squeezing more hours of footage on fewer memory cards is more important than getting the best image quality, choose a lower data rate. Higher frame rates (more images per second) inherently require a higher data rate to retain the same quality as fewer frames at a lower data rate.

  • FCP XML to Premiere Different Frame Rate

    Hello,
I have imported an FCP 7 XML into Premiere 5.04. When my sequence was in FCP it was at a frame rate of 23.976 at 720P. When it came into Premiere, though, it had changed to 59.94 fps at 720P.
I wonder how this has happened and if there is any way to change it back to 23.976 fps? Or should I just leave it as is?
I tried copying all of the clips within the 59.94 fps sequence into a new sequence that was 23.976, but this resulted in partial frame gaps (like a quarter of a frame missing). Sometimes you wouldn't even notice this during playback, but other times you do. So I assume this is not the best way to change it back to 23.976.
    Thank you.

  • Different frame rate in movie mode? iPhone 4

I noticed that my iPhone shoots video clips with different frame rate from time to time. I suppose it slows frame rate on dark shots. For now all of my daylight shots are 30 fps, while night or dark ones are 25 and 24. This makes it hard to edit clips in iMovie for example, because difference in frame rate causes strobe motion effect on output.

    Anybody have the same?
For reliable results I would suggest to shoot two clips: one in sunny daylight conditions, another with ordinary room lightning, maybe a little darker than normal.
Please let me know of the results. Thanks

Doesn't seem to be just a Quicktime bug:
