Introduction:
In case of Purchase order, we need to maintain Release Strategy each year. This is due to organizational changes. Due to huge organization, this is around one week activity for us. Reason, we need to maintain characteristics for around 300 different release strategies. Since, we can't transport "Characteristics" from one system to other, we need to maintain them in Quality as well as in Production system.
Issue: We tried to use option of LSMW to maintain these "Characteristics". But, system is giving error as "Logical Path is not available".
Question: Who is responsible to create this "Logical Path" and where it can be done?

I think you moved LSMW from test to production and this might be happening due to this fact. Please redo steps in LSMW for:
Specify Files
Assign Files
Read Data
Create completely new paths, and allow system to recreate (you need the right authorization). This might help I hope.

PO Release Strategy on Value Based

Person A will Release PO value <=50,000/-
Person B will Release PO Value >50000 and <=100000
Person C will Release PO Value >100000

Hi,
SPRO -> Material Management -> Purchasing -> Purchase Order -> Release Procedure for Purchase Orders.
Three steps involved in release process of purchase order.
1) Edit Characteristic: -
Create characteristic for release purchase order. If you want to release purchase order on total value. So you can create characteristic for Total net value. Take reference of CEKKO structure and GNETW field for Total net value in additional data of characteristic. E.g :- Total net value u2013 GNETWu2026Click on intervals allowed check box ..
2) Edit Class: -
After creation of characteristic, create class for release purchase order. In which you can take reference of
Class Type: - 032,
Status: - Release,
Class group: - Release strategy class,
And put reference of your characteristic, which are created by you in first step.
E.g: - Class u2013 REL_PO
3)Define Release Procedure of purchase order: -
In this step four processes involved.
1) Release Groups
2) Release Codes
3) Release indicator
4) Release Strategies
1) Release Group: - In which you can define release strategy group
For Exa.: - Release group : - 01,Release object: - 01, Class: - REL_PO.
2) Release code: - In which you can define release code. Enter value as
Release group: - 01,release code: -01 u2013 Purchase Head,
Release group: -01, release code: - 02 u2013 Auditor.
3) Release indicator: - In this step you have to define release indicator.
Like X u2013 Blocked, I u2013 Under process, S u2013 Release.
4) Release Strategy: - This is the final step for release strategy.
Assign release code 01, 02.
Click on release prerequisites, select 02 u2013 check box and click on continue.
Click on release status button, enter release indicator X, I, S and click continue
Click on classification button, Enter values of Total net value for which you want to created release strategy.
Person A will Release PO value <=50,000/-
Person B will Release PO Value >50000 and <=100000
Person C will Release PO Value >100000

PR Release Strategy-Characteristic Z_GSWRT must be linked with CEBAN-GFWRT

Dear Experts,
I did a simple config for PR Release strategy. using Plant(Z_WERKS) and Item values(Z_GSWRT )
chose overall PR Release. During simulate release
the second level release its not able to simulate and it says check Prerequistie for second level
Can somebody expain why the system is giving me this below message.
Characteristic Z_GSWRT must be linked with CEBAN-GFWRT

Values: Plant (WERKS)& Itemvalue (GSWRT) & Now I created (GFWRT) For another class for Overall PR release.
In my PR Release strategy with 2 levels I have these below things:
Rel Groups : 1 Group with name AA
Rel Codes: For AA is A1, For another AA is A2.
Rel Indicator: nothing is selected, am not sure what to do in this step.
Rel Strategy : For AA is S1, For another AA is S2.
I created class Z_GFWRT but am not sure which group I should assign it AA or I have to create another new group for Overall release.
After I checked the release strategy the system is giving me this below message.
No release group exists
Message no. ME_RELCHK014
Please can you walkme through in this process. This is first time I am creating a PR Release.

PR Release Strategy Characteristic Changes

I created several characteristics for a purchase req. release strategy. I added an incorrect value and then deleted it on one of the characteristics. Is there anything else that needs to be done to ensure that value is really deleted?
I'm receiveing an error when I ALE that I have documents that won't post for the error:
REQ_PURCH_ORG : Value "Structure Exists " not found
Structure exists is not a value associated with this characteristic.

Po release strategy - if value decreased

Dears,
If the Po value is decreased, I need the release strategy to be re triggered. As I know in standard its not possible. But can you help Is there any BADI or user exits can be used to accomplish this task.

Hi,
Use release indicator '4' or '6" during designing of release strategy.
And
If you want PO release strategy should trigger for reduced value ,then you can for User exit EXIT_SAPLEBND_002 or check to modify standard function module ME_REL_STRATEGIE_EKKO which help to reset existing release strategy for reduced/increased and/or values.

Change in Purchase Order Release Strategy Values

Dear All,
I am in process of changing Purchase Order release strategy values.
I have following release strategy -
                       Current Value                  (Proposed Value)
Level 1 -         Upto INR 0.1 Mn               (Proposed value - Upto 1.0 Mn)
Level 2 -         From 0.11 Mn to 0.5 Mn   (Proposed Value - From 1.01 Mn to 5.00 Mn)
Level 3 -         From 0.51 Mn to 1.0 Mn   (Proposed Value - From 5.01 Mn to 10.0 Mn)
Level 4 -         Above 1.0 Mn                  (Proposed Value - Above 10.0 Mn)
My questions are -
1) Will this change affect the existing Purchase Orders (already created) which are not yet released?
2) Will this change affect the existing Purchase Orders (already created) which are released?
3) Are there any risk factors?
Can you pl. put light on above questions?

Actually, what you had given is not enough to determine if the existing PO will be impacted or not
If you are just changing the classification but not changing the number of release level of the release code in the release strategy, the partial released PO will not be impacted unless there's PO changes. PO that are released will definitely not be impacted unless there are changed.
In general, after a release strategy is determined for PO, SAP will retrieve the latest list of release code of that release strategy for display for that PO. If this list never change (mean you only change classification of the release strategy), then they will not be apparent to the user. But if this list change (you add new release code, replace existing release code or remove release code), then you will see some discrepency on screen as you will only see the modified list of release code and not the old list of release code

PR Old Release Strategy - triggering NEW Release strategy any change OLD PR

Dear Gurus,
We have implement item level PR release strategy,
characteristic used: 1. Document type, 2. PR item Value, 3. Material Group, 4. Change date & 5. Account Assignment Category.
BEfore the above implementation, there is a OLD PR release Strategy existing in the system at one level release.
Now the issue, the OLD release Strategy status is release completed, now the user goes and change the PURCHASING GROUP in old PR, new release gets triggered. How to Stop this, system should not trigger NEW STRATEGY,

HI,
If i use date created as a characteristic, then Old release strategy get reset and the no release strategy will be trigger henceforth, the status of the PR will be INACTIVE.
ANy charateristic we use, there will be only 2 options for old released PRs, 1) It will reset the strategy to new one or 2) the old strategy will be reset and make the PR status as INACTIVE.
Is this is standard behaviour? pleae advice

There is a scenario in which it's required when,
PR is generated automaticaly through MRP then Release strategt should be applicable and when
PR is created manually then release strategy won't be applicale.
Please suggest about this..........

Hi,
You should have two document types ( as required by you here), MRP PR document type & Manual PR document type.Link plant, MRP group and the default order types as MRP PR document type in OMDT t.code.
You should create release characteristics (CT04) with the table & field and add all release characteristics in release class. For document type release characteristics with CEBAN & BSART and do not keep value ZNB which you do not want, just keep value ZMNB. During design of release strategy keep value only for document type ZMNB with other character values.

Purchase order release strategy with a characteristic value as a variable

Hi all,
We have Purchase order release strategy based on the following characteristics:
Total Net Order Value
Purchasing Organization
a few other custom fields
We would like to add a characteristic based on the creator of the PO. In the purchasing department there are two person which have the authorization to create an release POs. The goal is now to check if the actual user, who release the PO, is different from the PO creator. The value of this characteristic may not be a fix value, it must be contain the name of the actual user name.
Is there are a possibility to insert the characteristic value as a variable such as SY-UNAME instead a fix value?

this is verymuch possible. You can use unsed fields user1, user2 etc in CEKKO or (ii) insert a new field in CEKKOZZ and use the new field. You need to build up logic in user-exit such that this field will take the value of person who had logged in. This can be done by ABAPer.

Hi,
in this case system is NOT able to find the release startegy.
Please take care of the following explanation (see note 365604)
o For OVERALL RELEASE (purchase order and purchase requisition) the
   item fields such as Plant and Material Group will be aggregated
   to header level.
   For example you use Plant/material group
as one of your characteristics. If all
items do not belong to the same plant/material group
then
*******the relase strategy will not be found***********
unless you have maintained a blank value as one
of your allowed values for the characteristic Plant/material group
. If all items
belong to the same plant7material group
then that plant is aggregated to the
header; if one or more is different then a blank is aggregated to
the header.
If you use an overall release strategy all
characteristics which you have defined in the customizing (CEKKO-MATKL
must have the same value. If one item has material class x and the
other y the system does not know with which material class it should
look for a release strategy. Now the system sets the material class
to 'blank' and tries to find a release strategy. If you do not have
defined a blank entry in the customizing (Transaction: OMGS
: OLME >release procedure for PO > rel. strategy ) the
system won't find a release strategy.
you need
to add a blank value to your allowed characteristic values in your
release strategy. To do this you can define a blank value in your
characteristic (CT04). On the values screen leave the char.value
blank and add a description and save. Now in OMGS you can select
this value as an allowed value for the characteristic.
(Example:
To avoid this you can do the following:
- go into transaction CT04
- enter the characteristic 'CEKKO-MATKL'
- click on the tab 'values'
- set a flag in 'additional values'
- in the column 'Char. value' do not enter anything
- in the column 'Description' enter a text like 'no material class'
- save this setting
Now
- go into transaction OMGS -> button 'release strategy'
-> button 'classification'
- double click on CEKKO-MATKL' and set a flag in 'no material class' )

we have Preq release strategy based on classification and the release is based on amount. in the class, one of the characteristics contains the amount above which the strategy is being triggered: how can I extract all the values for all the strategies from this characteristic? is there a table for it?
