In standard SAP you can set the configuration to issue a message if the PR is different than the PO.
Examples
055   Purchase requisition &, item &, not released for ordering
056   Purchase requisition &, item &, has a different material number
057   Purchase requisition &, item &, has a different plant
058   Purchase requisition &, item &, has a different supplying plant
059   Purchase requisition &, item &, has different account assignment category
068   Requisition & item & has different purchasing group
076   Materials of requisition & item & alr. ordered in full
However, if there is no material master involved and the text is altered from PR to PO during PO creation, there is very little that can be done. You may be able to check this with some customer exit, but I do not normally use them. Hopefully someone with customer exit knowledge can advise you in that area.

Posiiton short text change does not flow to IT0001

Hi HCM gurus,
We have a scenario where the position short text and long text can change pretty frequently. In this scenario, the new descriotion is not flowing to PA20/30 screens
The position description that flows to PA20/30 screens seems to consider the 0001 begda as the date te be yused for reading hrp1000 infotype for this position.
Am sure we cannot over ride this, but what is the Best practise in this case so that the HR admins see the most current Position description in PA 30/20

and also run the rhinte20/30 reports.

Change Warning to Error MSG in Sales Order for a KMAT

I'm using variant configuration with a business conector (WEB-->SAP) to create a Sales Order.
How can I change the message that appears when a material doesn´t can be adopted in the bill of materials because of the Distribution Channel status from warning to error? (Functional Area V2, N° Message: 003).
Or an alternative is about doing something that makes unable to save the Sales Order when a material can't be added (from the characteristics) because of the status.

V2003 message is a hardcoded information message, not even a warning, just information with a recommendation in its long text, this message cannot be turned into an error message without modification.

PO short text to be made un-editedable

Hi Experts
PO short text is to be made unedited.
Now, I am able to enter material description in short text in PO before adapting PR wherein the master description will be different than entered earlier. I want to block editing short text of PO before apapting PR and it should flow from master description only. Can any body help on this how to block entering manually in short text. Presently user can enter any description and then adapt PR, so that master description is not reflected in PO.

Error message if invalid characters entered in PM order oper.short text fld

Hi ALL,
I need to display a error message, when user enters the invalid characters in work order operation short text field. The error message should be displayed during work order u201CSaveu201D (during creation and change mode).
Kindly let me know is there is any user exit / BADI can be used for this.
Note: I have checked some user exit, such as IWO10009 but I am not getting the value of Operation short text (AFVGD-LTXA1) to compare and throw the error message

get AUFPL(Routing number of operations in the order)from CAUFV and paa it in AFVC -AUFPLyou get the short text

Material short text difference

Hi Gurus,
my client has created a Po having 2 line items with the same material no. (packing material)
the short text of the material is differ for the one line item.the confusion is how it will happens coz.. the material code is same for the both line items.it should be the same.
I checked in the item changes of the Po.. but no data is appearing regarding the short text changes
please help me how to find out the route cause of the issue..

Hi,
It is possible to change the Material Description while creating PO (ME21N), which will not get recorded as changes for that document. User might have changed during PO creation (in ME21N).
Or check whether 2nd line item has been added later in PO, in change mode and check Material master changes in MM04. It might also happen that before adding 2nd line item in PO, somebody would have chnaged material description in MM02.

HP 8500 All in one printer, Error msg to change yellow/black cartridge

Cartridge was changed but same error msg occurs.
SN {Removed for privacy} DATE: 12-5-08. What can I check now that there is new ink cartridge properly installed. We have turned off, left it set and triedturning on again.

As it is refurring to a yellow/black part its most likely the printhead that needs to be replaced and not the cartridge.

One possibility is to Maintain the languages in the Additional data tab under description in the material master record for your Services . Please check wether both the languages are maintained or not . Please correct me if i am wrong .

How to change the Short text of a GUI Status .

Hi Guys ,
   Can any one guide me on how to change the short text of an already existing GUI Status .
I have already tried doing these :Opened the GUI Status in change mode and changed the short texts of the Application tool bar ,
                           Menu Bar ,
                           Function Keys ,
thinking that this will update in the Short text .. but that didnt happen ...

GUI Status : Status_001 .
Short Text : New GUI Status .
Change the Short Text to " Changed GUI Status ' .

Do this...
go to SE80
Open the program.. open node GUI Status
Double click on the status you want to change
go to menu GOTO>ATTRIBUTES>STATUS
click on continue or simply enter
Here change the short text and continue or enter
activate it

Hierarchy in selection screen shows Short Text, I want to change it to Med

It seems that the selection popup of Hier is using the Short Text of the Charc.
Can I change it to use Med Text?
I tried in the Query, it only changes the way the Hier is presented in the reort
and not in the selection screen.

Hi Edan,
You could select the type of text you want to display on selection screen by choosing the same under the Business Explorer tab of your Hierarchy infoObject.
Go to RSA1 -> infoObject -> find your hierarchy infoObject -> Display -> Business Explorer tab ->
Text type -> Medium-length text.

Impact of changing positions and Org Unit short text

Hi All..
This is regarding the impact of changing positions and Org Unit short text(SAP name - Object Abbreviation, technical field u2013 hrp1000-short).The new approach we are ging to have is to keep short text same across the business unit.
Example:
All position in US will have short text u2013 USS
Similarly All US Org Unit short text will be COMUS
I was wondering, from SAP best practices point of view, do you see any downside in this approach?
Example: Any problem in searching position or org using search term.

Hi,
Normally such change will not have any impact in PA module.
Only in exceptional cases it will have an impact in following cases:
1. First and mandatory condition that you use abbreviation as position name in IT 0001. If this is the case parameter PLOGI TEXTC (in table T77S0) should be equal X.
2. Second condition is that parameter PLOGI SPLIT is equal to X. That means that change of object name will lead to record split in IT 0001 in PA.
So if in table T77S0 you don't have setting PLOGI TEXTC = X and PLOGI SPLIT = X you can go ahead with change of positions abbreviations. It will have no impact on other modules.

I am developing a report for changes in PO History.
I have fetched each and every field except the the field for short text
The way to see the PO history change is
Tcode: ME23n
Select any item from item details, and follow the path in menu bar Environment-->Item Changes.
A new window will get open.
There the third field is of short text description. I want this field.
Plz tell me the table nameu2026

Hi Apoorva,
To get short text, you have to get the fieldname and tablename and that you can get from CDPOS. After getting that :
1.Pass Table name and fieldname to DD03L table and get field value of fieldname 'ROLLNAME'.
2.Pass this value to table DD04T and get field DDTEXT.
For example, you want to get the short text and Table name has EKPO and fieldname has MENGE. Then once you pass field name MENGE and table name EKPO to table DD03L, then you will get field DD03L-ROLLNAME as BSTMG.With DD03L-ROLLNAME as BSTMG pass to table DD04T and get field DDTEXT, you will get Purchase Order Quantity.

Avoid users can change Short Text of Material Id in Purchase Requisitions

We have a problem with purchase requisitions.
Users create a purchase requisition. In the field material, type the ID of the Material but then, change the description in Short Text, for example Material 1000 is a Bearing, and the user can change this description for Nut for example, causing problems and confusion in the following steps.
We want that if the user use Material ID can´t change the Short Text

Hi,
You can control this via tcode OLME. go to Purchase Requisitions and then 'Define Screen Layout at Document Level'. Select appropriate field selection key (NBB if using standard one), go to basic data, item and maintain required settings.

Risks/Consequences Associated with changing short text in BS22

Hi,
I need to change the short text of some status of the TJ02T table (i.e. I need to change the short description of status I0098 from CRT to CREA).
Someone can tell me if there are risks or contraindications associated with this change in BS22?

In my ECC6 system I0098 is already CRTE...
My personal opinion is that this is a user-training issue and BS22 should stay standard..
There is a user-exit which manipulates the text on the status in an object (order, notif, etc) without changing BS22.
