Practical use of a transient VO

hi i am new to ADF and i am slightly confused about the use of the transient view object. i am clear on an updatable VO which is used to update and read only VO whose practical use would be for LOVs and also showing read only data on the UI, . Can some one help me understand the practical use of transient VO and also the VO based on a query. Thanks in advance. I know this is a basic question but i am not getting the practical usage of it.

Hi,
If you can give some practical approaches where the transient VOs are required that would help me understand the actual concept of transient VO.
well answer is here. https://blogs.oracle.com/vijaymohan/entry/transient_vo_powerful_j2ee_design_pattern
go through the second point.
I am pretty aware that the  transient VO doesn't refer to a table/EO/DB and the attributes are created while creating the VO.
yeah you 're right.
The same VO can be dragged as a form suppose.. but what after that ... what help does it do to a developer in achieving a logic ?
Consider this simple scenario currently fusion web app team don't have a db.so no db fetches for their application. just they use transient vo for grab the details from the end user and manipulate some sort of data show to end user these values live until session lives.
At one point they will send the data via web services.
concern service communicate with some other team and perform insertion and update ion and deletion of data in db.
so here no need to do use entity derived vo. I can't explain much here about whole thing.
Thanks.

  • Favorite / Best Practice / Useful MTE's ??!?!

    Hi Everyone,
I'm setting up monitoring on a multi-system architecture; i've got all of the agents working and reporting to my CEN. I've even got the auto-response email all set up, great!
I've been looking around for any best practice on what MTE's (out of the 100's there!) I should be setting up virtual and rule based nodes for.
So come on everyone...what are your favorite MTE's. Of course I'm looking at Dialog Response Times, and Filesystem %'s -- but any other tips? hints? tricks? Any neat MTE's out there that you love to check.
A best practice / useful guide would be brilliant?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Speakerphone option is too low for practical use. Can this be corrected?

I have the iPhone 2G and the speakerphone really ***** (for lack of a better term). I'd like to use it more often but even on its loudest setting its barely audible. Can this be fixed without hacking? Is the 3G significantly louder? Thanks for any insight as I love the phone but may have to switch if this can't be resolved.

You will have to send feedback to Apple as this is a User to User forum.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
I agree that the volume is to low for practical use, and the physical aspects don't help. The speaker is one of the tiny holes in the bottom, so you need to aim the end of the iphone at your face to make the most of it.

  • What is the BEST practice - use BO or Java Object in process as webservice

    Hi All,
I have my BP published as web service. I have defined My process input & output as BOs. My BP talks to DB through DAO layer(written in JAVA) which has Java objects. So I have BO as well as java Objects. Since I am collecting user input in BO, I have to assign individual values contained in BO to Java object's fields.
I want to reduce this extra headache & want to use either of BO or Java object.I want to know What is the best practice - use BO or Java object as process input. If it is BO,how I can reuse BOs in Java?
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Sujata P. Galinde

    Hi Mark,
Thanks for your response. I also wanted to use java object only. When I use java object as process input argument..it is fine. But when I try to create Process web service, I am getting compilation error - "data type not supported".....
To get rid of this error, I tried to use heir (BO inheriting from java class). But while invoking process as web service, it is not asking for fields that are inherited from java class.
Then I created Business Object with a field of type java class... This also is not working. While sending request, it is giving an error that - field type for fields from java class not found.
Conclusion - not able to use java object as process(exposed as web service) input argument .
What is the Best & feasible way to accomplist the task - Process using DAO in Java & exposed as web service.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sujata

  • Practical use of transaction attribute

I want to read abt practical use of transaction attribute, any tutorial or any help?

Well the J2EE tutorial explains them:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-3669/6n5sg7cm3?a=view
What do you mean by practical - a real world example? You can use NotSupported for read operations as no transaction is required, they say it improves performance, but I have never done any investigation into it.

  • Practical use for clickthru log

Regarding the clickthru log (populated by the htmldb_util.count_click or Z procedure)...
What is a practical use of this feature? Other than a "Huh, that many, eh? Nice" by glancing at it from the Admin pages.
One thing I thought of was "self-destructing" download links where the link is rendered conditionally by querying the WWV_FLOW_CLICKTHRU_LOG view and checking the count(*) for that category.
So, I decide that I want to allow this download to happen only, say, 100 times and then disable the link and put up a message "Sorry, maximum number of downloads exceeded" or something like that.
Has anyone made any other use of this feature in their applications?
    Thanks

    Vikas,
At CASEtech, we are using the clickthru log for 3 different activities within our product offering.
    1. We have on all the web sites we create for clients a footer link:
"Site Design by CASEtech Inc. ©2004 All rights reserved." with a clickthru to track how many of our customer's customers are coming to our web site.
    2. We have a customer who has rotating advertising in their header, with an opportunity to click for more information. Our client wants to know how many times this advertising link is clicked for each of its "sponsors"
    3. We include the clickthu on images sent in emails from our Oolaroo - Oracle HTML DB applications as a way of tracking emails read.

  • Practical Use For 2 Super Drives?

My apologies if this sounds silly but is there any real practical use for the 2 Super Drives I have? I think I may have been a bit naive thinking that I would somehow be able to burn multiple CDs at once from iTunes or burn multiple DVDs at once from iMovie or iDVD. Can someone provide an example of how I would be able to use the two drives or what the intent was of offering two drives?

Thanks Forrest. Sorry for not replying sooner but I've been away for the holidays. By "running two instances of the app and making a duplicate" are you referring to, for instance, creating a copy of iDVD or iMovie and renaming it to something else? Is that even possible? Perhaps it would be best if I described a scenario and ask if it is possible to do this.
I create an iMovie project and share to iDVD. Suppose I want burn a large number of DVDs. Is there a way to do this using both trays from iDVD? I do a lot of this, usually converting a lot of home movies for people and putting them on DVD. When they want multiple copies, it's a matter of waiting for one DVD to finish burning before loading another because I can't see a way to burn the same project via the two different superdrives that came with the Mac Pro.

  • Practicing using Final Cut Pro only on iBook via External Drive. Possible?

Before upgrading to a more powerful system I'd like to install FCS2 on an external drive and practice using only Final Cut Pro on my iBook (ok to laugh) My iBook specs: G4, 14", 1.42GHz, 1GB RAM, 10.4.9, 1024x768 display, 60GB. I do not plan on playing around with the other programs that are included in the suite. ie. Motion and Soundtrack pro etc. (They most likely would not work on my lil iBook.) I know in principle you are not supposed to put software on an external drive but I'm wondering if this temporary setup is even viable. I plan on using this set up for a couple months as I make my way through BASIC Final Cut Pro tutorials and to do a small practice run with a 5 minute miniDV project. I need time (about two months) to cobble money together before I upgrade to a more powerful system. Is this even possible? If so, what capacity/brand external drive should I be considering? I will also be using the external drive for media after I upgrade my system. Thanks to everyone. These posts are extremely helpful.
      Mac OS X (10.4.9)
      Mac OS X (10.4.1)

    hi there
you wont be able to install FCP to the external HDD as it wont let you, it has to be installed to the actual HDD in the machine as it uses the core system, core video, core animation, and core sound to work, you can install all the extra content on a ext HDD but not the actual application.
    hope this helps

  • Practicable uses of Java?

    Hi,
I'm extremely new to Java, but do have some deep programming knowledge of PHP. Anyway, I'm quite interested in Java and everything... it can seemingly do everything and anything you want it to do, from powering an entire megawebsite, to a simple class. I was just wondering what practicable uses Java has though? Do you only write programs and then execute them in your cmd window? I imagine not, but where else do you use Java? How exactly does Java play in to the "big picture" of things?
Hope this makes sense... if you could... give me examples of programs and websites built entirely with Java.
Just want to know what kind of things you can make with it... besides stuff in your cmd window. :P

Hope this makes sense... if you could... give me examples of programs and websites built entirely with Java.
    This very site! :^)
There is a difference between Java the language and Java Enterprise Edition (J2EE or JEE 5). The latter are generally used for web site creation. There are a number of tutorials on this site. Generally, Java has seemed to find its most successful implementations as middleware, integrating various other systems and servicing a number of clients (of which the web is probably the most popular). Hope that helps.

  • 2nd Mac - best practices using iPhoto on both?

    Hi -
I just got a new MacBook and have an iMac that is still the "hub" of my photo library. It is, in fact, about a 180 GB iPhoto library. I know that I can't sync libraries between Macs (a shame - someone should come up with a way to that assuming they haven't already!) so I'm just looking for any best practices?
I got the MacBook to be able to work on some photos while on the road - I can at least work on post processing in Photoshop, etc. I'm thinking now that my best strategy is to possibly work with the images on my MacBook, importing them into the iPhoto library if desired. Then use my Photo sharing service - Phanfare - to "sync" them? It requires me to download them on the other side and pull them again into the iPhoto Library on the iMac?
I don't use the Mobile Me Gallery but I suppose that would be another way to have access to them on the alternate computer?
Any other best practices or suggestions?
    Thx!

So, if there are times when I'm not home to access my external drive, then going with the two libraries is the best solution, yes?
Perhaps, but you can get very small and portable external HDs these days.
I'm not sure though if I should really make both a 180 GB iPhoto library, do you? It is a back up true, but seems like a chunk to move
But you only do it once. The first time. Thereafter you're simply updating the other with the changes.
At least maybe I could split into pictures from 2009 - 2010 and have that library for both my iMac and the MacBook. I very rarely access before then (only if I need something specific) so then I could access that via the iMac exclusively?
    That would be viable.
I would maintain a +full Library+ on the Desktop, the mobile versions a Smaller subset.
I'm sort of ruling out the one library on the external solution because it eliminates the possibility of being remote -
As I said above you can get tiny portable drives...
unless there is some swanky Login to My Computer or something that works with a Mac that can go remotely to my computer and then to my external drive.
    *_This_* might help.

  • AdHoc Set Query - set operations - practical use

    Hi
I am writing a user manual about AdHoc Query - including Set operations. I am looking for good examples when to use the different operations.  A-B is easy.  Example - 'give me all employees that are not on maternity leave'.  But I am struggling with good practical examples on when to use Union and Intersection.  It needs to be examples that cannot be covered by selection criteria in one single query.
Does anyone have any good practical examples?  Any help appreciated.
    Kirsten

    Hi Kirsten,
    I use Set Operations many times to find individuals who do not have a certain infotype or plan.  Example:  Find all retirees who are not enrolled in a medical plan.  Group A = All retirees;
Group B = All retirees in a medical plan.  A - B = Retirees with no medical plan coverage.
Ad Hoc Query does not allow you to use "Or" logic in selection with different criteria.  A Union could be used for this.  An example would be employees who are in pay Grade 1 - 5 (Group A) or earn less than $50,000 per year (Group B).  Intersection would be those in Grades 1 - 5 and earn less than $50,000 per year.
