PRD Copy to DEV

Dear all,

Free Size:               15.25 GB                     Total free size:            116.89 GB
Development:
SAP ECC 6.0 on Windows 2003 with Oracle 10.2.0.4

=================
We have a 600 Client on Production system and want to copy it to DEV new Client while DEV server's Physical Space (OS) is 8.45 GB FREE Partition (MAIN DATA FILES)
1. We have 3 clients (200,600,700) on DEV and want to keep only 600 client and make another new client to import the production 600 on new client.
2. If I export PRD client 600 (Client Copy) and import it to DEV, will I be needing More Space?
3. Do we need to increase our HDD Space? If yes then we will add another 300 GB HDD into the DEV system. is 300 GB enough because of the Size of PRD Client 600?
4. What is the better solution? Client Copy or System Copy?
5. What else can we do to make our Export/Import work properly?
Please Help.

If you will delete client 200 and 700 then also you will not get total space used by these clients. In order to get all space, you need to perform reorganization.

Considering above, I think you need add more space to your server. This much space will be fine.

Client Copy is the only option if you want to retain one client in DEV system.

  • Transports from PRD to QAS & DEV in SEM?

    Hi,
I am in a strange situation. we are on BW 3.0B and SEM 3.1B. For some reasons, My predecessor who worked b4 me implemented SEM planning without DEV system and without transports.
I've been told that they are not developing any thing in DEV system rather they are developing and testing in QAS. once it is done, they make the same changes manually in PRD without transports.
they are doing this only for SEM planning. for BW, they are using DEV-QAS-PRD landscape and even transports.
I'm not even sure what to ask. but, I need to start from here. any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Now, I need to start using DEV system for SEM planning as well just like for BW. but, PRD is already running.
can we transport PRD objects back to DEV and QAS?
once transported, can i start development in DEV and transport developed objects to QAS and then to PRD?
if we can, what are the precautions we need to take b4 transporting from PRD to QAS & DEV?
Is there a way, to find out the differences between "PRD and QAS" and "PRD and DEV" to make changes manually for small changes?
if nothing is being done, atleast what i can start with to use "landscape DEV->QAS->PRD and transports" by keeping PRD objects alive and running.
DEV is no where close in synchronous with QAS and PRD. there are quite a bit of differences between QAS and PRD but almost synchronous.
I'm in a big need of help.
    any kinda ideas are welcome

    Hi
You can use the Function Module FAVOS_EVENT_ADD_TO_USER_SHELF for this. SAP_GUID is the WBID, TEXT is the fav text and REPORT_NAME as RRMX
    To add new folders
You can either use BEx Browser or login into your BW system using SAP Logon, go to your sap easy access menu (TCODE:SMEN), right click the folders you want to manage and add your subfolders.
    Also go through these

    Hi,
we are implementing solman 7.1 sp08.
while configuring Managed system for java side SPQ(quality) is added successfully and also generating the EWA reports. But the SPD(dev) and SPP(prd) are not showing the SID while browsing. Please can any help regarding this issue.
Please find the below attached screen shot.

    Hi,
Probably they are associated with a different product/software, and in that case, the system cannot match the 3 systems.

  • Sharepoint Online Moving/Copying a Dev Site to a More Permanent Site

Hi everyone. I built a SharePoint online Workflow with forms etc within a Dev site collection. Now that it is working properly the way we'd like, I need to put it on a more permanent Site Collection. I am having trouble figuring out the proper way to do
this. My searches come up with some instruction that don't exactly match up to our site configuration settings so I am reluctant to actually try it as I'm afraid of wrecking something I've already built. Any tips or links to a good instructional forum or site
    would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks!

    Hi sragen,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to copy a workflow from a Dev site collection to other site collection in SharePoint Online.
If the workflow is a reusable workflow, you can save the workflow as template in SharePoint 2013 Designer, download it, then upload the workflow template into other site collections as a solution, and activate it.
Or, you can use a third party tool to do it, like:
    http://www.metalogix.com/Products/Content-Matrix.aspx
    Thanks,

  • Trusted RFC: "jumping to PRD system from DEV via SOLMAN"

    Hallo!
I have the following question regarding the Trusted RFC generally in SOLMAN area and better especially within ChaRM.
We have SOLMAN and 3 satellite systems DEV, QAS and PRD.
When we generate Trusted RFC connections from SOLMAN to these satellite systems, we become scared about the following scenario:
A user accesses to DEV system and goes via Trusted RFC to SOLMAN.
From SOLMAN he chooses the Trusted RFC to PRD system and goes into PRD system.
    The question:
How can this identification gap/problem be solved?
    Thank you very much indeed!
    H. Thomasson

    Hi Thomasson,
You can restrict the access of your solman system from your DEV system.
Disable the trusted relationship in the RFC that points to Solman from Dev system.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Kiran.

    Holger,
First of all the user that tries to launch the TRUSTED RFC needs to have an active user in the satellite system he/she tries to reach.
Secondly, this user needs to have the authorization object S_RFCACL assigned to its user.
You can manually change this TRUSTED RFC to 'Logon Screen' if you like.

  • [SOLVED] dd doesn't copy from /dev/null

To compile a large application using IPO I need a lot of memory, more than the 1 GB RAM + 1 GB swap on my system. In order to create an extra (temporary) swap file I need to create a large, empty file. For this purpose I did
    # dd if=/dev/null of=/large_partition/swapfile bs=1K count=1024G
    But dd always returns
    0+0 records in
    0+0 records out
    0 bytes (0 B) copied, 2.7727e-05 s, 0.0 kB/s
(time may vary.) Copying an ordinary file using dd works as expected.
What could be wrong (with /dev/null)?

/dev/null is a 'black hole', it discards every data and you can't use it this way. I think you should try /dev/zero instead.

  • RMAN Copy to DEV Procedure - Opinions Needed

    Hi All,
Wanted some opinions/advice on a problem I'm having. My goal is to have a nice easy script (that I can give to an inexperienced DBA) that copies a prod database to DEV. I've been googling around and found similar problems but noe seem to apply to me, and the procedures given seem to be missing things...The details are:
10.2.0.4 on both sides. Prod is in archivelogmode. Backups run to tape normally but since we have no netbackup license for DEV I'm doing a special backup to disk. Backup script is:
    export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
    export ORACLE_SID=PLTPRD01
    rman nocatalog target=sys/prodpw@PLTPRD01 log=/home/oracle/logs/full_rman_to_disk.log <<-EOF
       configure backup optimization on;
       configure default device type to disk;
       configure device type disk parallelism 1 backup type to compressed backupset;
       configure datafile backup copies for device type disk to 1;
       configure maxsetsize to unlimited;
       run {

But, it won't restore the archlog files and gives the old "RMAN-06102: no channel to restore a backup or copy of log thread" error. I can recover by copying over the relevant archlogs and doing a "recover using backup controlfile until cancel", but I wondered why the restore didn't recover automatically for me? • Releases of export and import systems have to be identical

    hi all,
we want PRD data on DEV , PRD client has been exported successfully. data ( 2 requests from cofile & data) from PRD copied to DEV in cofile and data.
now when we import these requests in DEV client through STMS , it say that "Releases of export and import systems have to be identical"
while oracle patch, kernel patch and java version all are same on both systems.
    plz guide
    Regards
    Khan

    Friends,
We also faced same issue while restoring USER Master backup in one of our system. Even after applying OSS Note 1291394 it didn't work for us. Though the permanent solution is to apply this OSS Note only.
As a teporary workaround we can add the TR through OS command using Uncoditional Mode "Overwrite Original" and import also using Uncoditional Mode "Overwrite Original". Below are the commands.
    To Add in buffer:
    tp addtobuffer <TR> SID Client=<> U012 pf=<>
    To Import in system:
    tp import <TR> SID U012 pf=<>

  • Any Bapi fn module to copy bi prd table data to bi dev table

    Hi all,
Im BI techno functional consultant here my requirement is to write a report such that when it executes ,
it has to copy bi prd table data to bi dev table.
ex: The same ODS table data moving from BI PRD to BI DEV.
Can U please sujjest me the code to write a report or any  fn module..
    with regards,
    prasad.

    hi prasad,
From BI point of view, what Amit suggested is the best way to get the data from one system to another sytem.(try to convince your client)
If you want to get the data through ABAP, check with an ABAPer if it possible to have another system(for example, Prod)
in the WHERE condition of a SELECT statement.
There are function modules which can be created with an attribute "remote enabled module"(you can see that in attibute screen of a function module) to get data from another system.(you will need more information than this)
This is more of an ABAP question. A post in the ABAP could be of help.
    Thanks.

  • System copy of a DEV system on the same server

    Hi experts!
In our company, we have a 2-systems landscape, DEV and PRD, and we are working on the system together with another organization of the same company. Now, they want me to "split" the systems, one for each organization, making a copy of the systems. In other words, they want to completely split the systems, running on the same server, development server will have 2 systems, DEV and DEV' and so on in production server.
The doubt is in developments, as I don't know how to face the CTS and TMS setup to provide 2 different development environments, without losing the actual change requests for both systems. As you know, I have to change the SID, because the copy will be in the same server, so what happends with change requests?? Do I have to make a copy of DIR_TRANS and set up a new DIR_TRANS for the new system???
    Thank you in advance!
    Fran.

    Hi William,
I guess I did not explain it properly.
    Now we have:
    1. System DEV in DEV server.
    2. System PRD in PRD server.
Transport later ZDEV from DEV to PRD.
    And we will do:
    1. Homogeneous system copy from DEV to DEV' in DEV server, so we will have DEV and DEV' on the same server.
    2. Homogeneous system copy from PRD to PRD' in PRD server, so we will have PRD and PRD' on the same server.
Sizing is good, servers are very powerful.
The doubt is configuring the TMS, as we will have two different development environments on the same server. How do I have to set up the TMS properly???
    Thanks!!

  • Refresh of DEV from PRD

    Hi, SAP Gurus!
For our upgrade project, we need to refresh the DEV system from a recent copy of PRD. Our dev system must contain only configuration (i.e. no user data). This needs to be a new system with only ONE client in it. PRD and QAS are also single client systems.
We have not been able to find any official SAP document on this procedure.Seems like a standard procedure, so there should be a documented guide out there.
    We are under a WIndows 2003 + Oracle 9i setup and running R3 Enterprise 4.7 ext. 2.00.
DEV is the domain controller for STMS.
Any ideas you can provide are wellcomed.
    MC

    Hi,
For your scenario it seems you need to go with client copy , but
This needs to be a new system with only ONE client in it
But this doesnot means it is new system either you can create new client in DEV or can overwrite any existing client.
For copying only configuration refer this link
    https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-33675
Other option is system copy but that will replicate your PRD data including master and transaction(I guess that is not required).
So you need to explore client copy option for your requirement.
