PRE 12 + Phantom Burner

I am attempting to create a Blu-Ray ISO file of a Premiere Elements 12 project.  PRE12 is installed on a Dell XPS 420 with Windows Vista SP2.
I have completed the project and installed Phantom Burner 2.0.
I have created the Phantom Burner file by right clicking on the Phantom Burner drive.  With Windows Explorer, I can see the VDD file has been created.
I next start PRE 12, let the project load, click on Publish+Share.  Complete the information, see the following jpg
I have attempted to rescan and use different presets.  Nothing is successful.  I can burn the project directly to the Blu-Ray burner drive.
Any trouble shooting suggestions will be appreciated.

Unfortunately Premiere Elements (any version) does not have a burn to folder for Blu-ray.
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? For now, I will assume Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
Have you updated 12 to 12.1 Update, using an opened project's Help Menu/Update? If not, please do so.
Difficult problem which may force you into looking at an external Blu-ray burner for your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 burn to Blu-ray unless you
want to try to replace the Liteon internal for another brand/model internal Blu-ray burner. Can you borrow an external Blu-ray burner from an associate to determine if that route will work for you?
But, let us try two approaches to determine if either will have any impact on this situation....
1. Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary, the whole 12.0 Folder in which it exists.
Local Disk C
Users
Owner
AppData
Roaming
Adobe
Premiere Elements
12.0
and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then you delete the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
2. If "1" does not work, then let us go to
a. Deactivation via Help Menu/Sign Out of an opened project. Close out of there and then....
b. Uninstall via the usual Control Panel/Programs route
c. free ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) to get rid of leftovers from incomplete uninstalls/reinstalls
d. reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
3. Usual drill...
a. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed
b. Running program from User Account with Administrative Privileges and Run As Administrator applied to desktop icon of the program
Please review and consider and then we can decide what next.
Thanks.

  • "device error" at 99% burning bluray content to Phantom burner - any ideas? DVD works

Im am currently investigating PrE 11 after having PrE 5 and leaving out PrE 9 due.
PrE 11 is almost a pleasure to use, but I consistantly fail in checking bluray support.
One major lack of PrE 11 is that it does not allow to burn blurays to disk, wheras this option is available for AVCHD and for DVD - Adobe: why the hell did you do this?
So - I downloaded the Phantom Burner 2.0.0.0 which perfectly runs for DVD and AVCHD burning.
But when I "burn" a bluray on the phantom burner, it consistently fails with "device error" at 99%.
I included menues and removed them just to be sure whether this is the cause.
But: I can burn exactly the same footage as AVCHD in to folders as well as into a disc with phantom burner. Always in 50i 1920x1080.
The only problem exists with bluray - so I am in a deadlock - I cannot test bluray support.
    Any ideas?
System: Windows 7 Enterprise, 64 Bit, PrE 11 Trial.
    Thanks!

  • PRE 11 Burn To Folder

I just started using PRE 11.  My last Adobe experience was PRE 4.  I just finished a project and decided to burn to folder, both for AVCHD and DVD since not all of my family can handle AVCHD.  The AVCHD burn went fine.  I just burned the BDMV folder to a DVD and it played fine on my blu-ray player.  Then. as I have always done for years, to make the DVD, I burned  the video_ts folder to the DVD.  That would not play.  So then I burned the openDVD and the video_ts folders to the DVD and that wouldn't play either.  I then burned directly to the disk, instead of the folder and that played fine.  I could copy that DVD, and I also made an image file of it and made more copies.  So, what did I do wrong with the folder approach?

Use the free download ImgBurn to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to a disc. (Make sure it's the folder, and not just the contents of the folder.)
If you select ImgBurn's option to Verify Disc after the burn, it will virtually always play in a DVD player.

  • Phantom Burned-in Footage When Creating a New Composition

So, this is difficult to explain, but whenever I create a new composition, I can see a leftover title from a previous project that looks like it's burned into the background, similar to how images get burned into on a plasma TV. I tried exporting a still frame, but the frame just ended up being a blank white screen which I guess makes sense since it's technically a new comp. Also, I don't know if it's related, but when I was working on the actual project with the title in question, the title remained on the screen with the same burned-in look even though I turned the opacity all the way down. I've attached a screenshot I took using Windows instead of AE. As you can see, the opacity is set to 0, but you can still see the title in AE and also in the export file. This is also what appears when I create a new composition. I tried deleting the cache but to no avail. Perhaps a bug?

Thanks. I switched the viewer to Final Quality which fixed the new compositon problem but didn't affect the other issue with the title not completely disappearing in the project. My GTX 560Ti drivers are up-to-date from the official Nvidia website. However, there's an optional Windows Update for WDDM drivers that I've been intentionally ignoring that I could try...but prefer not to.

  • Strange burn folder behaviour; lost files, sort of...

I was trying to back up several folders from iTunes onto a DVD. I did this earlier today, and it worked fine. When I tried it again, by highlighting 5 folders and dragging them to a second burn folder, the following happened:
    1. The folders did not appear in the burn folder (but they DID disappear from the original folder containing them, which should NOT happen!).
    2. When I double click on the burn folder in the finder, the burn folder and all 5 of the subfolders that are supposed to be in the burn folder open simultaneously in 6 different windows in the finder.
    3. Using a terminal window, the 5 folders are missing from the iTunes directory.
    4. When I run iTunes (or use SpotLight), the folders are shown in the normal place, and everything seems OK. But, if I look for the files using "find" in a terminal window, I don't see them.
    5. These folders are not easily replaceable--I'm reluctant to shutdown my machine--I'm not sure whether the files will still be accessible to iTunes after a reboot!
Any advice on what to do would be appreciated!

#1- Burn folders are created if you insert a blank CD/DVD except when responding to a pre-initiated burn request (like pressing the burn button in iTunes)
#2- They may be "anchors" (don't know what else to call them) for streaming media files. If you clicked on a streaming video link, it is likely that those files-usually about 4KB were downloaded at that time, normally they are removed once the stream is played. If they're not, delete them yourself.

  • Dual Layer Burning Premiere Elements 4.0

I know this is probably an easy one for anyone that has been using Premiere Elements for awhile.  I just finished a 100 minute video and I want to burn it at as good of quality as possible on one DVD.  So, I thought I would burn it using a dual layer DVD.  I can't find a settting in Premiere Elements 4.0 that allows you to choose Dual Layer.  Will it do this automatically or what do I have to do?

    MirShaw wrote:
If you are trying to burn a dual layer, do you need to set an option to burn dual layer or will it just do it automatically?  My burner will burn dual layer and I have dual layer disks but I'm not sure if I need to set an option.  I don't see any option for dual layer in Share-Disk.
I believe that PRE identifies the type of disc you have and adjusts quality accordingly.
In my case though I never use PRE to burn to the disk directly but always first to the hard disk with 8.5GB settings. You select this in the Share> Burn To dialog. In the Burn To dialog there are the three options Disk ; Folder(4.7GB) and Folder(8.5GB).
The reason I do this is to force PRE to produce the best quality output it can (If I want it to shrink it to fit a 4.7GB I use external tools DVD Shrink or Nero Recode for example). I then end up with a final 'master' to burn with Nero or ImgBurn.
This also keeps the load off the machine as I close PRE after it creates the original 8.5GB file.

  • Burn Folder Appearance and two strange file names

Dumb questions here, but I have to ask:
    1. Where did this Burn Folder come from? I do not remember setting it up. What it a key stroke or something else I did? How do I get rid of it off my desktop?
    2. 245827111.asx.asf and 245827111.ram - These two files just appeared on my desktop. Can anyone help me understand how this happened? What are they? What did I install?

  • CREATING "MASTER" PROJECT WITH PREMIERE ELEMENTS (PRE)

I am creating a new thread following up on earlier questions re Premiere Elements 8.0 (PRE).
I have created (authored?) 14 projects with music using PRE and burned each on 1 DVD.  I did not save to a folder, but went to Share and Burn Disc.  They show well on TV from an ordinary DVD player.  Now I must combine these projects into 3 "master" projects on 3 DVDs and burn multiple copies to send to former members of my Boy Scout Troop.  See the chart below. I thought (silly me) that I could do that straightforwardly with PRE.  I am going to start following suggestions from Bill Hunt and Nealeh.

Hey, those ain't "newbie" questions. The first one gets posted to the Forum Comments forum weekly. The second one, well I should have posted my normal detail, but got lazy - mea culpa, mea culpa.
1.) This ARTICLE should step you through the processes with the e-mails. If you have any questions, let us know. There are several places, where e-mail notification can be turned ON and OFF. Some are global, and some are specific to threads.*
2.) Ah, the ImgBurn site. The top 2/3 are all ads. Hey, it's great free software, so who can blame 'em? Scroll down to where the page has the various versions and what they addressed. There is a Download button there (well below those ads). That is what you want. Normally, I mention the scrolling way down page, but you caught me here.
    Good luck,

    * Going back a few months, while trying to help another user on the Forum Comments forum, I got hit with a global change in my e-mail settings. I got about 1,000/day, for every forum that I participate in - think 1,000 x PS, PrPRo, Encore, InDesign, Illustrator, Audition, PrE and all of their sub-fora! Fortunately, it only took about 3 days for Adobe to get that fixed.

  • How to burn to ISO image in Premiere Elements 12.1 under Windows 8.1 64bit?

I really struggle - is there no way to burn from PE12.1 to ISO image (under Win 8.1)?

    Motajko
There is no way to take your Timeline content to an ISO Image in Premiere Elements 12/12.1 on Windows 8.1 64 bit with just Premiere Elements 12/12.1 by itself.
Premiere Elements 13 is the first to offer a Burn To: option of ISO Image for DVD, AVCHD, and Blu-ray. Which one of those choices are you seeking (or all of them)?
If you cannot make due with the Burn To: Folder for DVD and AVCHD, then you can get your ISO Image from 12/12.1 in the following round about way....
Let us do AVCHD ISO Image as the example...
    1. Burn your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Timeline using Publish+Share/Disc/AVCHD, Burn To: = Folder (4.7 GB).
    2. Take the BDMV Folder from the saved folder into the free ImgBurn program and export is as a ISO file.using the category named
    Create Image File from Files/Folder.
    3. When you need the disc product, you can take that ISO file to disc in ImgBurn using the category named Write Image File To Disc.
For more information on ISO Image and Premiere Elements, please review the following link's content

After you review and consider the above, we can discuss the matter further if needed.

  • Which recommended sw to burn videos?

Background:  After much struggle (and HELP from the people on the forum.....THANK YOU) with Pre8 to create my video that includes music, photos, and audio, I was unable to burn a DVD from Pre8.  It crashed (system reboot) after encoding reached 96%.  After researching the forum, this seems to be a popular problem from 2 years back, I followed the steps of burning the video to my pc at NTSC DVD standard.  I can view it using Windows Movie Maker.  (I tried to view with windows media player but there is no sound.)  My questions are:
    1.  which sw or app is recommended to burn to a DVD that will include all the media (music, audio, photos) together?
    2.  Will I be able to add a DVD menu before burning?
    3.  What aspect ratio?  I want to burn it at 16:9 so I can view on HDTV.  If I do this, will I also be able to view it on a laptop?
         - the video burned to the pc is at:
           Size:  428MB
           Frame Width: 720
           Frame Height: 480
    4.  My pc has Roxio Creator 9.  Could I use this?  If so, would I copy as data disc?
    Please advise.

Also, burning to a folder offers another advantage if you want to burn another DVD later on....
Let's say you used PrE to burn directly to DVD (instead of to a folder) and 2 years later you want to burn another copy (perhaps your DVD gets lost or damaged? Visiting in-law? Who knows?)
You'd have several things working against you.
Unlike programs like Word, PrE is generally not backwards compatible. If you save a project with PrE v7, you'd better plan on using PrE v7 to re-open that project. If you upgraded to PrE v9 and didn't keep PrE v7 around, you'd probably be out of luck.
Let's say you do have the correct PrE version still around and can still open your project. You also need to ensure all of the video, audio, and other assets used by your project are still around (preferably in the exact same location). If you've deleted the original source footage, you can't re-burn your DVD, even if the project itself is still around. Some of this can be made easier by the Project > Archive function.
You have to go through the lengthy encoding process all over again.
And hope it doesn't stall at 96% again
On the other hand, if you've burned to a folder, all you need to do to create a new copy is point any DVD-burning program (version doesn't matter) to the saved folder and click "Burn". No re-encoding needed. No source files needed. You don't even need Premiere.
Also, the folder takes up relatively little room (4.7GB max, often less).

  • Convert & burn .avi & .wmv files to DVD?

As a relative Mac newbie, I would like to know how to convert .avi & .wmv files that are on my hard drive to DVD-burnable format. I generally use Toast Titanium 6.0.7 for all disc burning. An acquaintance suggested that I use iMovie for this purpose, but -- excuse my ignorance -- how exactly and in a simple way do I do it (go from having .avi and/or .wmv files on my hard drive to being able to actually and successfully burn them to DVD)?
Trying to add the files to Toast's "DVD Video" pre-DVD-burn setting just brings up black screen stills to represent the file, leading me to believe there is a problem, because other video files I've burned in the past have loaded into Toast with a video still frame grab before burning.
Windows seems to be able to perform this function easily, but could anyone help with simple, direct info on how to do it with Mac Tiger?..
Is this all a codec issue? If so, why should it be (on an otherwise tech-savvy and adaptable Apple OS) and how do I rectify it in a straightforward and simple manner?
I should add that I can view .avi files on my Mac by using VLC Media Player, and the .wmv files by using Windows Media Player for Mac, but I want to be able to convert these files to DVD-burnable format, so I can view them on a television set-top DVD player...
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Here's a couple more suggestions that I use .Not so elegent but they work.
    1. I use a VGA to TV converter box which plugs in to the VGA connection on the computer & gives S video or composite out & then plugin to the dv in from the camera. Then import to imovie for any editing & then burn away !Quick & dirty & it works eveytime. Of course you must have a vga connection at the back of your computer.
    2. On the PC side I use Cyberlink Power Director. This accepts .wmv files & will convert to other formats & also send to mini dv camera tape if I want to burn to standalone DVD burner.

  • Rendering to computer - will the menus work

I built a movie and when I rendered it. I choose the computer tab as I would like to view on my computer and home theater media server.
When I played it, the menu doesn't come up. If I render to a DVD the menu works fine.
I was so excited to think I could share these movies I make with the family without burning a DVD or BluRay. The movie I made was a dance recital with 10 dances. Without the menu, the movie is kind of useless.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance
    Steve

    Steve,
    Logical questions.
For HD/BD, there is one problem when using PrE. While it can author to BD, it cannot Burn to Folder for BD, just Burn to Disc.
Now, I do not know the requirements of WD's Media Player, so you might have to do some checking, but here are my thoughts on a workflow:
Burn to Disc, using an RE (Rewritable) BD (Blu-Ray Disc), and then just Copy the full folder structure to the WD Media Player.
Burn to Disc, BUT use a utility, such as Phantom Drive, or Phantom Burner, to Disc, but because those utilities convince PrE that a folder on your HDD is really a BD burner with blank media in it, you will essentially be Burning to Folder (what PrE cannot do on its own), and then just Copy that folder structure to the WD Media Player.
Obviously, either of those two workflows rely on the WD Media Player being able to handle the BD folder structure with the necessary files inside. That is an unknown for me, but WD should tell you if that is possible.
Good luck, and as I have never used any of those "Phantom" utilities, I cannot tell you if one is better than the rest. Also, I only mentioned two, and there are probably many more, but so long as they can convince PrE that the HDD folder is really a BD burner with blank media, they should work.

Add On...Just updated the Phantom Burner 2.0 link in the blog post and added this footnote.
**UPDATE January 8, 2015. The original link to the Phantom Burner 2.0 used when this blog was written is no longer working to obtain the Phantom Burner 2.0 and has been replaced this day with a link that is working to obtain the Phantom Burner 2.0 tryout download (phantomburner_setup.exe). This new link seems to be working to obtain the "Phantom Burner 2.0", but the Learn More and Purchase buttons for this choice do not work. Interestingly, the old and new links are from the same web site, just different pages of the web site. At this time, it is not known if this reflects problem with the PHANTOMbility.com web site or something else.

  • Import Clip From DVD

I have been trying for a couple of days to take a clip from a DVD and insert it into PE11.
I can't believe it's so incredibly hard, so I hope someone can help me.
First i use DVD Shrink to extract just the portion I want to the normal VIDEO_TS folder structure.  This plays perfecty in AVS, WMP, VLC etc.
I then convert this (mostly using DVDFab), to AVI, WMP, MP4, with AC3, MP3, all kinds of audio.
ALL of them play in all my players.  Some of them play in PE when dbl clicking the media in assets.
NONE of them play the speech audio when rendered and played after adding to timeline.
There is background music, however no speech at all.
It's incredibly frustrating as I have tried every codec combination I can think of, all play with normal players, and none can be used in PE11.
    what am i doing wrong!
    Thanks

Sorry, up to your last post I was envisioning your issues to center mostly around the classical ripping of VOBs from the DVD-VIDEO format on a DVD disc.
That is an interesting switch, disc image iso format, in this mix. Never been there and done that, so I did. I have the Phantom Burner installed which allows me to "burn to a virtual disc" in this "virtual burner" to produce a disc image for the Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc.
After I mount the disc image iso into the Phantom Burner, I can go to Add Media/DVD Camera or Computer Drive/Video Importer, set the Source for the Phantom Burner drive, and bring the disc image into the Video Importer as VTS_01_1.VOB which can be brought into the Premiere Elements Expert workspace, using the Video Importer's Get Media.
If you got beyond that, I am not seeing the other problems that you say stop you from going further.
    You wrote
In PE, I cannot do a 720x552 video, and it wont allow me to use the majority of file formats I have.
As it happens I am trying to get a few 5 second clips from a commerical DVD for a comedy montage I am making for a friends wedding anniversary.
If your VOBs are coming from a PAL DVD-VIDEO 4:3 source, what I suggest you look at is:
    Open a new project
    Go to File Menu/New/Project
In the new project dialog, set the project preset for PAL DV Standard.
Before you exit the new project dialog, put a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on this Project".
Then, when you are back in the Premiere Elements 11 Expert workspace, bring in your VOBs via Add Media/DVD camera or computer drive/Video Importer (with a check mark next to Add to Timeline...make sure you have the Save In set up correctly so that you do not get into an "already imported" type message (cannot save VOB with same name to same place...more on that if necessary).
If your VOBs are coming from a PAL DVD-VIDEO 16:9 widescreen, do the same but use the project preset PAL DV Widescreen.
As a reminder, the frame size for PAL DVD-VIDEO standard or widescreen is the same 720 x 576.
Please review what I have written and let us know if any of the above helped and/or you need clarification on anything that I have written.
    Thanks.

  • Organizing songs in separate playlists as I wish?

In iTunes, how do I organize music into several playlists so That I may choose the one I want?

There's insufficient information to say.  It may depend upon the age of the car player, or the quality of the CDs you are using. Information about other tracks which do play would help, and how you burned them and their formats, etc.
If you are burning plain audio CDs to good quality media and your car player is not so old that it pre-dates burned media then it should work. That you are using protected media should have nothing to do with it since it has always been possible to burn audio formats CDs using it.
