Pre 7 Trial does not recognize my canon HD vixia HG21

I have spent 11 days with my Pre 7 trial trying to get it to recognize my camera. It is AVCHD. it cannot detect my camera. I was hoping to bypass the cheap software that came with the camera and just use Adobe to retrieve my videos, edit them, and then burn them to DVD. Reading the forums it looks like I am going to have a lot of problems. I don't know because I can't get past step one.
I took care of the warning at start up stating that content was missing.
So far i am not liking this program.
This is my first time ever editing video. I am worried, looking at all these posts, what other problems I am going to have.
Can someone help me get past step one anyway?

Jill,
I think that it is time for us to look at your computer resources to determine if those are involved in the problems that you described for your computer as well as Premiere Elements 7. Questions/Considerations.....
Operating System and 32 or 64 bit
Installed RAM and Available RAM
Total Capacity of C: (Local) Drive and free hard drive space there
Do you have an external hard drive and is it formatted NTFS, not FAT32
Does your computer operating system control the Virtual Memory or have you used your own settings?
Do you defragment the computer routinely and frequently?
When you are running Premiere Elements 7 are you multitasking, maybe using other programs at the same time?
We need to get the drive locations under control and understood. Confusion on what letter represents which drive can create problems if you do not know to which drive you are assigning videos or whatever. In the good old days, you started with (A:) drive which was for those 3 1/2 floppy discs. That drive was usually designed as "3 1/2 Floppy (A:)". The (C:) your local drive was designed "Local Disk (C:)" that is where your Premiere Elements program files should be   I am told that there was a (B:) drive at one time which was for 5 1/2 floppy discs. After that the drives and the letters assigned by the operating system could be from:
(a) installation of DVD/CD burner(s). Typically you might see them designed: "DVD-RW Drive" with a letter next to it as well as "DVD-RAM Drive" with a letter after it. How drive names and letters are determined is a whole other story.
(b) insertion of a Flash Drive (aka Jump Drive) into one of the USB ports of the computer...your would probably see that represented as "Removal Drive or the brand name of the Flash Drive" with a letter next to it.
(c) installation of an external hard drive which you might see as "FreeAgent Drive" with a letter next to it....it is important to know what letter the external hard drive has been assigned by the system.
In my system it is very important that before I unplug any external hard drives or flash drives that I use the Safely Remove Hardware Icon in the Task panel to avoid problems. Also, Premiere Elements thumbnails are just thumbnails that reference back to the source media that you have saved on the local or external hard drive. Once you have imported source media into Premiere Elements, save and close the project, you will get into serious reconnect media problems if you start moving the source media from the location that Premiere Elements initially recognized.
This next part I will just address quickly and save for the next time. When you use the program that came with the camcorder in order to get the video to the computer hard drive, make sure you watch the export file format that you use.
I hope that these focus points will help to get your look at Premiere Elements 7 moving along, If any additional questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Photoshop Elements 13 does not recognize my Canon Pixma Pro Mark II 9000 printer.  I get the following error message “The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop Elements, or the saved printer is no longer available. You will need to check your printer settings before printing” and I cannot print.

I have been checking my computer files and find that PSE 13 is only the 32 bit system and my computer is a 64 bit system.  In PSE 12 I was able to take the Adobe
Twain Driver (Twain 32 bit} in to the Optional Plug-in folder and then my Canon Scanner would work with PSE 12.  My printer Canon Pixma Mark II 9000 worked with PSE 12.  Now that I have upgraded to PSE 13 neither the scanner or my printer will work.  There I no “Optional Plug-in Folder” in PSE 13.  Is there some way that I can drag files into PSE 13 that will enable both my scanner and printer to work?  My scanner is a Canon Canoscan 8800.
Or must I go back to using PSE 12.

  • Image Capture does not recognize my Canon Pixma MP150 printer

Image Capture does not recognize my Canon Pixma MP150 printer since I upgraded to Mavericks.

To scan with Image Capture you need an ICA driver. Looking through the CanonDevices list in the /Library/Image Capture folder I cannot see an entry for the MP150. And I checked Canon Australia's web site and there is no ICA driver for the MP150. There is a scanner driver and MP Navigator for OS X 10.7. You may be able to install and use the driver and application on 10.9, although you will have to get past Gatekeeper to install both items as they are not digitally signed. To do this, you can hold down the Control key and click on the installer. A pop-up menu will appear and you can select Open. You will then be able to install the driver and then the application. If they do install then see if you can open MP Navigator and scan from the MP150.

  • DNG Converter does not recognize my Canon Raw files

I have the Canon EOS Rebel 450D. I downloaded the Mac version of the DNG converter, ver. 5.6. However it does not recognize the Raw or CR2 file. According to what I read on the Adobe website, my camera is supported. Why is it not recognizing the file?

Seem to be a few threads recently where people are having printer connectivity problems - often Canon. If you haven't already, you could try resetting the printing system, it sometimes helps re-establish a connection:

  • Imovie does not recognize my Canon Vixia HF R10 camcorder.

I cannot seem to get my Mac (OS X 10.6.8) or IMovie11 to recognize my Canon Vixia HF R10 camcoder so that I may download the movies I've taken.
I have successfully donloaded movies from this camcoder in the past but for some reason it is not working now. When I direct the camcoder to connect with the computer, two externa; drive icons show up on my desktop, "No Name" and "Canon." Clicking on either one doesn't help either.
I've also tried to download the movies by taking the storage card out and placing it in a card reader also attached a usb port.....nothing.
    Furthermore, Iphoto comes on automatically.
    Can someone please help? Thanks.

  • Canon 5d mark III does not recognize the Canon Speedlite 580EX II is connected

When I choose External Speedlite control/ Flash function settings on the 5D.
I get a dialogue that says
This menu cannot be displayed. Incompatible flash or flash's power is turned off.
Flash is on. If I take a photo, flash fire's. Pictures are ALWAYS over exposed when using the flash.
Does the 580EX II work with the 5D Mark III?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The loose foot plate is a fairly common issue (and easily fixed).
But also keep in mind that there are 5 metal contact pins on the foot of the flash and these mate with the 5 pins on the camera hot-shoe.  The 6th contact is the hot-shoe itself (the metal foot plate is actually the ground contact and it mates with the rails on the camera hot-shoe to provide the ground connection.)
Those 5 pins are spring-loaded.  If you push them with your finger tips, they should push in and spring back out when you release them.  If a piece of dirt manages to get widged into the pin, then it might keep it from springing back out properly and prevent it from making a good connection to the camera.  If this happens, the camera may believe it does not have an ETTL flash connected.  The pins would need to be cleaned (Do not oil them... that would only attract more dirt.  The pins have a loose fit that requires no lubricant.   Just clean out whatever dirt may be present if the pins are not performing as they should).

  • Quick menu does not recognize my Canon scanner

I've been using my Canon 9000F scanner for a couple of months. Added an iX6520 printer today and installed all the software. The Quick Menu no longer recognizes the scanner. How do I trouble shoot this? Thanks.
    System: Windows 7 x64

    Hello Mike9685,
Please try disconnecting the scanner and connecting it back into the computer again.  Be sure it is connected via USB cable directly to the computer instead of going through a USB hub or the like.  If the issue persists, please try scanning with the MP Navigator software the scanner came bundled with, to help test the issue.  If all else fails, please reply with the specific error or message that occurs when you attempt to scan.

  • Elements 12 -  does not recognize raw c2r files using EOS 70D

How to tell what version of Camera Raw is installed when Elements does not recognize the Canon raw extension? I have updated within the last five minutes.

to see what version of Camera Raw is installed, you can go to:
Help >> About Plug in >> Camera Raw
    See this picture:
You can also try to update your version if it isn't version 8.5
There is also a possibility to use DNG converter to load any raw files from any cameras but see if this answers your question.

  • Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my Canon Mark III 5D Camera.

Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera.  How can I get my files open to view and edit?  I am using LR3, Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3.  Do I need to upgrade these programs or is there another way to get these programs to recognize my files?
When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file"  ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
When I try opening the raw images in Photoshop, an error message pops up saying "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try opening the raw images in Bridge, it just shows an icon with the file name and CR2.
    Please help!!!

Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right?  Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
    PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.
LR5 standalone and LR+PS-CC plan are both available on this page:  http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html
PS-CS6 can be found on this page:  Creative Suite 6 which can be found by searching www.adobe.com for Photoshop CS6 and clicking the Buy link in the on-the-fly search results.
As with any new Adobe software, it might be wise to run it in trial mode for a few days/weeks to see if it works well with your computer, before purchasing and finding out you might need a new computer, first.

  • 10.6.8 does not recognize canon powershot SD1100 IS

I have just tried to upload photos from my canon for the first time since I got my macbook pro 10.6.8, also reinstalled canon software, and when I plug in my camera, the machine does not recognize it. It simply says, 'No camera found'
    Anyone else have this issue?

It sounds like the issue is isolated to the Mac system since it works on the Windows 7 system on the network.
First, reset the Mac printing system as outlined in this document from Apple.
Next, reinstall the printer using this driver package from Apple.  I did check and it does support the Laserjet CP1520 series printers.  If you prefere HP's installation package, it can be found here.
These steps will clear any files that are causing a conflict in the printing system and ensure it has the newest software available.
    Let me know what happens.

  • Recently upgraded to a Canon Mark 3 and now having issues with my RAW files in Bridge and Photoshop. I am operating with CS4. Photoshop produces an error " Could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file"

Recently upgraded to a Canon Mark 3 and now having issues with my RAW files in Bridge and Photoshop. I have operating with CS4. Photoshop produces and error " Could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file"

Assuming you mean 5D Mark III, Photoshop CS4 cannot directly open raw files from your camera.
Generally speaking, Adobe stopped updating older versions to be able to read raw files from newer cameras when they released a new major version of Photoshop. Photoshop CS4 is no longer receiving Camera Raw updates.
You can double check this yourself:
First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in your version of Photoshop. To do that, look at these two pages. You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
If you find your camera is supported by your version of Photoshop, you need to download the latest update for Camera Raw. There's more information on how to do that here:
    Keeping Photoshop Up-To-Date
If your version of Photoshop cannot support your camera, you can download and install the latest version of the free Adobe DNG Converter, which can take your raw files as input and put out DNG format files, which your version of Photoshop can open.
Photoshop Help | Digital Negative (DNG)
The DNG converter DOES work, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your raw files) you'll want the latest version of Photoshop. Adobe has made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.

  • I have Lightroom 3.6 and it does not recognize the raw images from my Canon 7d mark II, suggestions?

I have Lightroom 3.6 and it does not recognize the raw images from my canon 7d mark II, suggestions, do I need to upgrade?

Yes, you need an upgrade for native support in Lightroom. You need version 5.70 or higher; current version is 5.71.
Alternatively, you could use the most recent DNG converter and convert the raw files to DNG files before importing into Lightroom.

  • Image capture does not recognize Canon Scanner

I have two Canon Scanners, a Canoscan 8800F and a Canoscan LiDE 60. Image Capture does not recognize either of these. Both worked with Mountain Lion.

This user found some success acutally using *older* drivers. While that sounds odd, it might be worth a try: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23759017#23759017
I used to have a LIDE 60 - it is a great little machine. Good luck!
