Pre-approved Credit Checks @ Apple Stores?

I was wondering if Apple does the credit checks when you purchase the iPhone or do you have to go to AT&T to get a pre-approved credit check? They already said I was approved when I got my credit checked from AT&T a couple days ago but I want to double check to make sure they're will be no problems with the activation of the phone. I heard people got their credit checked and were given the ok but took the phone home and said something about calling AT&T for problems concerning their credit checks. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know if Apple does any credit checks, but I do know that the AT&T folks have been trained to really push people to do a credit check at the store. The reasoning is if you don't, and have the credit check performed in iTunes when activating, if there is a problem, i.e. deposit required, a return visit to the AT&T store is required. Also, once the iPhone box is opened, it is subject to a 10% restocking fee.
If you have no conserns regarding your credit, you can insist to buy an iPhone without a credit check. They will try to pressure you, but will sell you one without a credit check. The credit check will then be performed when you do the activation at home.

    Okay. This is really a god awful nightmare. I am from Washington D.C. and I bought my phone in Boise, ID. At the store the gentleman asked me if i wanted to do the credit check there to save me a trip if I didn't get approved.
    I agreed and was approved with no deposit. They gave me a pre-approved credit check number.
    Upon filling out my billing information in iTunes I enter in the Pre-Approved code and the SAME address I gave the man at the store. I then get an error saying that they will NOT accept this code because the addresses do NOT match up. Therefore I have been unable to even begin the activation process.
    I called the number they gave me. They told me I had to go to the store to fix it. I went. The people at the store looked at me like I had broccoli coming out of my ears. I was there for three hours (having been there for three hours for the phone) when they eventually told me to come back tomorrow.
    I called the support line again. We hit a brick wall. All in all I have been transferred atleast five times for a total of five hours on the phone. I want to return this blasted device but they are demanding a 10% restocking fee for SOMEONE ELSES mess up.
    So let's do the math. I waited three hours. Had a credit inquiry posted to my report. Paid $600. Talked to support for over five hours. And made a 20 mile drive three times.
    I DO NOT WANT THIS PHONE ANYMORE. However. I would rather eat the $600 then pay the %10 percent return fee. A big EFF YOU to apple and at&t.
    Now if I finally do get it activated I look forward to waiting another four days for it to work.

    Well all the information I am putting in is valid, not made up. And still nothing!
    Anyone successful with this?
    Also, if I just skip putting in the code I get further in the activation, up to the point where it tells me my three options with AT&T. At this point there is a LINK that says "I have a pre-approved credit code", but that link just returns you to the very beginning page (same as starting over)... wonder if it's broken or supposed to work that way?...

Have you checked the purchase history on your account (Store > View My Account on yoru computer's iTunes), and have you (or anyone who access to your devices) made in-app purchases in apps and/or have you taken out any subscriptions in apps ?   • Confirmed Pre-order (home delivery) + Apple store reservation

    I am eligible for upgrade & was lucky enough to get both a confirmed Pre-order w/ home delivery & a confirmed reservation at the local Apple store - my question is, Can I get them both at the $299 price OR will the instore reservation @ Apple see that I have already paid the discounted price for my home delivery?
    I originally did this becuase of all the issues, i wasn't 100% sure that things had went through smoothly (mostly becuase they went TOO smooth - I was done w/ both processes in under 5 minutes).
    If I could get a 2nd phone at discounted price, I'd likely sell it. If I can't, does anyone know if I can give my reserved phone @ the store to someone else? Do I have to wait in line & get the phone only to hand it off to someone else for activation OR could I just send someone else w/ my e-mail confirmation of the reservation?

    It all depends on if they check the ATT system again or not. I ordered for Apple delivery, but ATT knows that. I'm assuming when you go in the store, they check your ATT account once more, since they ask for your information to confirm what price you qualify for.
    I suppose you can try it and see, but I wouldn't count on it.

    Some questions over the pre-ordering of the iPhone4, my contract runs out in December this year, o2 say I can upgrade early and pay £100.
    Does anyone know that if I will be able to pre-order my upgrade through the Apple Store (UK), then collect at my local store.

    Him just thought i should inform you that I already have an orange contract...and as I already have a a contract and a number i was also going to buy the new iphone 4 pay as you go...then ring up and transfer my existing number over to the new iphone...ONLY to find out apple are playing really clever this time...and then new micro sim you either have to have as a brand new contract or a brand new pay as you go sim...now this isn't great for pay as you as you will know from previous pay as you go tariffs that you will get a years free internet and then thats bout it....they WILL NOT let transfer any existing orange or other network numbers over to the new iphone 4 as its a micro sim...its probably true that it is physically possible but this is the way Apple are getting you to buy more contracts......
    p.s. does anyone know when this pre-ordering starts..is it 12:01 of the 15th or 9am???

    So,I went over to the Apple Store in Glendale, CA to pick up my pre-ordered IPhone 4. There must be 1,000 people in the pre-order line. Apple, this is really insulting... Why did you guys limit pre-order pickup to one day??? What a waste of time. There's no way I'm going to wait in that line. ... This is a terrible way to treat your loyal customers.

    I live in Nashville, TN and we have the only Apple store within 200+ miles and I pre ordered and had to wait four hours for my phone. I have it now so im good. You had to expect to wait. I got there at 5:30 A.M. and still had to wait. Try going back later. The non pre order line had at least 4000 people in and the pre order had about 1000 people.

    Dude, get a grip. I waited 12 hours in line like a lot of other people..was number 2 at our store. I bought the iPhone because it would improve my workflow, be cool, etc. I knew the price point at purchase time. The extra $100 to go from a 4gb to 8gb was a no-brainer. And now the price cut...that's life.
    The good news...this will rapidly expand the market during the Holiday season which is Apple's best quarter each year. We, all iPhone owners, want a giant market. The price cut will drive more people into buying an iPhone, or giving it as a gift.
    This is smart business on Åpple's part. Like others have said, we all knew the prices would come down, it was just a matter of when.
    Would you have prefered the price cut in November - after 4 months? That would be a disaster for Apple if they really wanted to be agressive this Holiday season. Now people can plan their migration from another carrier to AT&T. This should also make it easier for some people to eat the cancellation fees their carrier will hit them with.
    This is business...get a grip.

    I know this sounds like an asinine question, but I can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere.
    Is it possible to go to my local Apple store (yes, physical location) and go through the pre-order process there?
    I want to be able to ask questions about the continuity of my cell service/plan/etcetera before pressing 'purchase', and the best way for me would be to talk to a person in-store...but I don't want to waste my time going out there if I can't actually pre-order there after I ask my questions!

    AFAIK, there are no "pre-orders" at any Apple store. Apple stores sell iPhones on a first come-first served basis. It is possible to order from Apple's online store for delivery at an Apple store. Bear in mind, pre-orders for delivery on 10/14 are sold out.

  • HT203167 Someone has been using my credit card to download games. this has happened before when I  had a different credit card on my itunes account. the apple store on that previous time would not give me the ip address where the downloads ended up.

    Someone I entrusted my computer to for repairs decided to keep it. all my personal information was on the computer. the peron has been using my credit card information o make ourchases from the apple store. If I do not have a credit card on the account on my iphone, I am unable to updatw it or my ipad. After persuading the apple store people to delete the last credit card info, I had to put aother credit card on the iphone to be able to update the software and thevapps. now that card is being used by the person o download war games on the new card. I cannot find any of his downloaded games on any of my devices. I am close to giving up my iphone and ipad. the last time i called the apple store, theynwould not give me the IP address of the omputer the games were downloaded to. they only gave me the name of my ipad. anyone could name thir ipad according to the name on mynipad. I have found the Apple store less than friendly about security matters like this.     Is the credit card registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ?     just wondering do u guys think apple should or could do pre-order at the apple retail store? save people alot of time and them alot of time as well. For me i would have to drive almost 2 hours to get to the nearest apple store, which i cant commit to that everyday hoping they would have an ipad 2 in thier shipment. So if they could do pre-order people would stop calling in every day to bug them about it, and sometime might not even make it in on time to get it before it sold out.

    i did the same..what i did was i ordered mine on apple.com early in the morning on the 12th (which pushed to 3-4 weeks) then i also place pre-order with best buy(1-3 weeks)
    just a little tips for those out there, you should pre-order urs online now or do the best buy pre-order and in that mean time just keep checking with local apple store and maybe you'll get luck and u can always cancel those order. Apple wont charge you until the product start shipping. just a good way to cover all your ground.

    on Tuesday 4/2/13  2 credit cards  (visa and amex ) were lifted from my change purse.wallet.I got an email stating congrats on a new MAC. well i don't have a new mac.
    someone at the apple store in bethesda allowed a $6600+ dollar amount to be charged on the stolen amex card. anyone in the store verifying identity of the purchaser against the name on the card?
    I called the store today got an automated response requested a manager put on hold for > 25 min. no response.
    I called back asking the automated responder for customer service. explained my situation. Asked if I had filled out a police report. I said I called the credit card company to cancel the card. the person said this is a manger problem but no managers available stating he was only the receptionist. got my number and name and would get back to me.
    the receptionist did not give my a feeling of any urgency or concern on his part. The store allowing a Mac computer to leave the store via a fradulent transaction is a loss for all.

    Then call the police.
    Contest the charge with the card issuer.
    Visa, MasterCard, Amex, etc. have implemented an incredibly stupid rule over the last few years that prohibits retailers for asking for idendification if the card is signed and they do not have reason to believe the card is stolen.
    When you get the replacement cards do NOT sign them. Write " C I D " in the signature space (see ID). When the clerk at whatever store checks to make sure it's signed, they should see that and ask for identification.
    No one at Apple can address your problem. You need to take it up with the card issuer.
