pre calculated web templates are HTML pages with queries that are already calculated in a scheduled background job.
web templates can be retrieved quickly and displayed.Response-time performance is greatly improved to the end user
Access time is considerably reduced.
Reduce application server load by eliminating the use of OLAP functions.

Pre Calculated Web Template?
Hello,
Can someone please provide a link or two on Pre Calculated Web Templates?
My hope is to create an iView that has certain application parameters to pull STATIC data from a pre-run BW report that also further filters the data into a specific field such as cost center.
Please visit the below thread for the long-winded explanation.

Below a link. Have a look at the attribute READ_MODE

Basically when you have a Precalculated Template, the system first run a report (which has been scheduled) and read the data from there when you run your template. This can imrpove the performance respect to online read data.

Using pre-calculated web template
I have a query that takes 20 seconds to load on our web portal. I've done everything imaginable to optimize performance. Finally I'm experimenting with pre-calculating the query. I've created the reporting agent setting, set the calculate parameter to 'HTML for Web Browser', added this to a schedule and successfully ran the schedule.
Now when I run the corresponding web template on the web it still seems to take the same 20 seconds. I would think all it has to load now is a static HTML page so it should take 1 or 2 seconds. How do I know if it's really loading the pre-calculated version or the normal one? I'm not sure anything is really happening. Maybe I missed something? Anybody have experience with this?
Thanks,
-PatrickI think I figured it out. I had to add a parameter to my url that was UPDATE_MODE=STORED

Pre-calculation Web Template - Reporting Agent Error
We have a dozen web templates that are precalculated for HTML output via a Reporting Agent scheduling package. The package fails once in a while with the following error:
System error in program SAPLRSDRC and form /BIC/... BRAIN299
Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE
The infocube's fact table is displayed after "/BIC" above. Any ideas? I have searched the forum and the OSS notes. There are no short dumps around the time this occurred. The job I posted above is from SM37. I think this is a lock issue, but the job log is not helping.
I am trying to see if the the aggregates were getting rebuilt around the time the web template was running. -
Hi,
We can use Reporting Agents to send precalculated web templates using emails, and we can also broadcast send precalculated web templates using Information Broad casting.
What is the difference when i ust this scenario using Reporting agents, and when i use it with Information Broadcasting?
Cheers!!!!!hi BI Project,

The Reporting Agent is a tool used to schedule reporting
functions in the background.
Note that you can only use the Reporting Agent if you
are working with queries and Web templates in the SAP BW
3.x format.
<b>As of SAP NetWeaver 2004s, the Reporting Agent
functions are covered by Information Broadcasting. We
recommend that you use Information Broadcasting instead
of the Reporting Agent.</b> -
Filling Cache for a Web Template
HI Folks,
We are in BI7.0. We have some reports which are taking huge amount of time to get executed. So we would like to fill the OLAP cache for these reports. I know the concept of pre calculating web templates in BW3.5. I am not sure, whether do we have to adopt the same concept here in BI7.0 or not?
Please let us know which process better suits our requirement in BI7.0 and provide the steps to perform it accordingly.
Any links, documents or PDFs on this topic are most welcome.
Many thanks.

Hi,
We have six chart items in one web template. Out of these six charts we want to run pre calculation for only two Charts as these are quite slow. Is there any way to achieve this.
can control query or variable help us in this matter?
Please advise.
regards,
JeetYou cannot select individual data providers to be pre-calculated, the whole template will have to be cached.
Work around is to have the slow charts in a seperate frame and use iFrames to integrate it with the main template which has the rest 4 charts.
The best soltn is to pre-calculate the whole template.. -
Automation of Pre-Caching of Web Templates.
Hi all,
In our project where the BW version is BI7.0 we run cache jobs manually by triggering them through sm37. These jobs cache the web-templates for a set of queries to improve the query performance. The steps we follow are:
1. Delete Cache from rsrcache tcode
2. Trigger first job through sm37
3. On completion of first job trigger second job through sm37 only.
Now to avoid this manual intervention we have automate the process. Our aim is to atleast automate steps 2 and 3 of above 3 steps.
Can anyone please give me a few pointers on how I can automate these jobs in a process chain?
Thanks and Regards,
Nishant.Nishant,
can you pls tell me how are you caching the web templates in BI 7.0? I am trying a lot but not able to find any good solution to cache my entire web template. my WAD report is a dashboard wth lots of good graphics features. Using lots of web items. My query is very fast but WAD report is slow for the 1st time.....any suggestions here????
Thanks,
Rahul. -
Hello Experts
We have a web template with the option to pre-calculate the data and store it. Under 'parameter' tab of the web template, in the top left corner, i have the option 'Calculate' - and there are four options available to store the data after the query is executed
1)Data
2)HTML for Web Browser
3)HTML for Pocket IE
4)EXCEL
I would like to know - when i select the option 1 'Data' where does the data get stored? Is there an internal table where this result is stored? If yes i would like to know which table is this and how can i access it and the data in it.(in case there is a special way to access the table other than SE16).
Helpful answers will be rewarded.
Thank You.Not sure how the key gets generated which is used to import data from cluster. You can use external break point in this method and run your webtemplate with precalculated data to see what does the key constitue of . With ABAP once you have data in internal tables you can do whatever you like but why would you use precalculated web template to read data from one info provider and write to another cube. There are other ways like APD ( Write output of a query to ODS ) or data mart to achieve the functinality you want.
