Pre-comps loose Quality when putting them in parent Comps

Hi there!
I got quite a problem with my AE project and I really don't know what to do. I already Looked up the forum but didn´t find any useful help till now.
The Problem I got is that I am working on quite a big project and need to fit precomps into parent comps (most of the times through varios layers)
This time when I fit a precomp in it´s parent comp it looses quite a lot of quality. If I do this again (putting the hole thing in a new parent comp) it even looses more quality!
I checked all my compositions and all are set to full quality at 1920/1080. I am using raytraced 3D and fast draft for quick render, but when I RAM preview render my projekt with full quality it still shows big deficits and pixelation.
Here you got some screen shots, maybe they are helpful:
I hope someone can help me.
Thank you a lot in advance!
PS: Re: Precomp "losing" quality on the parent comp     Already saw that post, but unfortunately it didn´t help me out/couldn´t understand what I have to do.

Hi there again.
The problems I got aren´t because of a specific Layer. The problem appears when putting one composition into another parent composition. The precomp I put inside the parent comp looses quality. The settings of both compositions are exactly the same and no draft mode ist selected. I am not zooming around or anything either. There are just 2 3D Objects on a 2D layer (and some other 2D stuff) Here I put now complete screeneshots:
The pic. above is my precomp. Quality and everything is fine and it looks like it should. Cool. Now when I take this composition and just put it into another composition with exactly the same settings, it should look exatly the same way (no zoom or anything , just drag and drop into another comp):
As you can see the quality is a lot worse then it should be (the sphere the iPhone etc.). I didnt change a layer or set a keyframe or zoom or anything and the parent comp has the same settings as the precomp. So it should show exactly the same. But for some reason it doesnt.
Now what I found out is that in the advanced comp settings I can put "preserve comp quality when nesting" so I do that. If I put now the composition into it´s parent comp then this happens:
Ok first things first: Quality is fine, so the most important problem is solved.
But what happens doesn´t really make sense for me. Despite the fact that both comps got exactly the same quality/framerate/pixel settings, when I put the precomp into the parent comp it is shown as if the precomp would be 4 times bigger (if I take now the parent comp also with "preserve quality when nested" into another comp the same happens).
It also messes around with a weird anchorpoint position and the comp "margins" are shown only in the upper left size of the layer (as if the layer would be much smaller then it really is). I dont know why this happens, but at least I can transform my (precomp-)layer normally and fit it into the composition, so that´s fine for me.
It´s more work when animating, but at least the quality stays the same.
Maybe someone knows a better solution?
Thank you already for your answers. I hope this is specific enough...

HI everybody i want to ask if you come me in help, i want to draw paths but when i use stroke options with pen or brush settings i loose quality when i zoom in , can someone help me with pen settings???

The work path is a vector object, and infinitely scalable, but when you stroke it, Photoshop lays pixels on a layer that follow the path.  These pixels are raster based and can not be scaled without loosing quality.  You do have options.  If you want to make the raster layer bigger, transform the work path and stroke it again.  Or work at a higher resolution in the first place.
Incidentally, you can't stroke a Path with the Pen, because it is a Vector based tool, and stroking is a raster based function.

  • Graphics loosing quality when rendering

I´m importing some graphics rendered in AFX to Premiere CS3, and when I run in Premiere they are OK, but after I edit them in the sequence and render, they loose quality. For example, I have some text (orange color) over black background. When I render them in the sequence, the text looses quality, the text definition and the color degrade and it seems that there are two colors in the text. And some weird things are happening with fields too. When I import some footage rendered lower field first in AFX, they run smooth in the source monitor, but when I edit them in a sequence and render, the field order seems to be wrong.
I cannot figure out what´s happening.

In AFX I rendered using QuickTime animation codec
In Premiere CS3 I´m working with NTSC DV
Like I said, chances are your AE export is higher quality than your Premiere project, hence when rendered, the quality goes down.  The Quicktime Animation codec is comparable to Uncompressed.  When you compress it to DV by rendering, quality can suffer.

  • Loosing quality when import-export file

I am just wondering, if I loose some quality when I - lets say- an Apple Pro Res 422 HQ 1080p video clip, I import to FCP, do some modifications, export to Pro Res 422 HQ again, import it to Photoshop, do some more modifications> export to the same, but find, I need to work in FCP again, import it, do some modification and export it again to Pro Res 422 HQ. Would there be a visible quality loss?

    Try this.
Make a copy of a clip.
Take the copy and edit/color/alter the images using all the operations you would normally.
Then, look at the original clip vs the altered clip on external monitoring devices (including scopes) to decide if you have an issue.
    Good luck.

  • ? loosing quality when rendering many times ?

Here is my question: after you have rendered a clip, yet you may want to change some parameters so that the whole clip is to be redered again; sometimes, you do this many times untill you've got what you want, like color or exposure and so on. Does FCP render it again from the original unrendered media or from the already rendered clip in the timeline? I mean, if it's from the original media, you may render and render again without loosing quality. If not, you've got to know exactly what you want from the first time, otherwise you'll soon have a very bad result. Anybody knows about this?

    Kevan,
    Why would it do that?
For example: you have a clip running at 90% of normal speed. To play back that clip on the timeline you likely need to render it.
You make an edit where you increase the speed of the clip from 90% to 95%.
What possible value would re-using the existing render file be in this case? It is still going to have to calculate every frame and no time or CPU cycles would be saved (it actually would be more complex to calculate the real speed from the render than the original).
It makes no sense to me to have the system work that way.

  • Loose quality when export as mov

what is the best way to export my iMovie, and keep the quality at best?

The movie is going to be burned to a CD and will be played on mostly PCs (some Macs). When i "Share Using QuickTime", i get just the music, no video. Doesn't allow me to Share for "Media Browser" (only publishing options are TINY and MOBILE). When I just "Export Movie", it creates a M4V file and I can only select "LARGE". This seem to be the only thing that really works, but this is where i am seeing the loss in quality.
Note: I am currently using iMovie 9.0. Files imported into iMovie are stills (hi resolution PDFs, that were converted to JPGs.) Could this be the cause?

  • Pictures are loosing quality when imported into I photo 08

    Hello all,
I have just recently made the switch to mac with no regrets, only a few questions. Here is my situation. I recently took some pictures at a wedding, I have a nikon d80 set with a jpeg setting. Now the pictures when viewed on my camera, on my windows PC and in finder look great. When I imported them into i photo, all the photo's have more red tones in them. Please advise.
One more thing, when I imported the pictures, I saved them all to the hard drive, then imported them into i photo. don't know if it makes a difference.

SD video is just 1/3 megapixel. Importing a multi-megapixel image into iMovie turns it into a 1/3 megapixel image (or if you use Ken Burn: a 1/3 megapixel video).
Fear not. When you burn a DVD it will look just fine.
IMPORTANT: When sending to iDVD from iMovie, iMovie may tell you that some stills are not rendered. Do NOT let iMovie render them. iDVD will do a much better job rendering them.

  • Footage Looses Quality When Imported!?

I worked on footage in Motion from FCP and then when I saved in Motion and went back to FCP the quality was reduced. I then went into Motion and exported it and when I imported the footage and placed the footage in the viewer the quality was normal, but when I dragged it down into the timeline, the quality is reduced even before I render. Any ideas, thanks!

capture footage in iMovie 06, import to FCP...
Why? Why did you capture with iMovie if you are working with FCP?
#20 Using iMovie to Capture for FCP edit
Shane's Stock Answer #20: Using iMovie to Capture for use in FCP.
iMovie handles the media differently from FCP, specifically where audio is concerned. So it is not a recommended workflow. Here's why...
iMovie captures using DV Stream (.dv) standard which does not use timecode. That is a big disadvantage over the way that FCP captures in that you can't go back and recapture the material at a later date if you need to revisit a project.
The DV/NTSC specification (the one FCP uses) also calls for seperate tracks for audio and video, even if you capture it as one clip. iMovie' DV stream format is muxed audio and video, which means that they are tied together (I can't get into specifics because I ain't no engineer or programmer). FCP is a bit more demanding and captures the seperate audio/video tracks, either in a single media file or as seperate video and audio files. With FCP you could capture video only or audio only because each is defined by the DV specs. while with iMovie you can't.
Also, if you drop the iMovie footage into the timeline, your will get the RED render bar forcing you to render the footage in order to see it. You can use either QT Pro or Compressor to convert the .dv footage into DV/NTSC in order for FCP to work with it without needing to render.

  • Files loose richness when editing them in PS via LR?

I am sure there is a reason for this, but I haven't been able to completely figure it out yet.
When I open a file in PS to print it, it looses richness from what I saw in LR. The saturation goes down and the separation between hues decreases slightly. The overall contrast is slightly reduced and the tonal separation is not as good. It looks like a slight version of the difference between viewing a transparency on a light table and holding it up to look at it in room light. It happens with every file, but the degree of the change varies. Has anyone else had this experience and/or does anyone know why/how it happens?

It sounds you have some incorrect settings in Photoshop.
Does the exported image contain an embedded icc profile?
Check your Color Management Policies in the Color Settings section.  Make certain all the warning dialogs are enabled and that you are preserving any embedded icc profile in the image.
If all looks correct, try setting your monitor profile to sRGB just to see if you have a corrupted monitor profile.

  • Why is the video loosing quality when i import?

i just downloaded the final cut pro x trial after wanting something more than imovie, and to be honest i much prefer it to the old final cut.
but someting is going wrong somewhere.
i record gameplay from my xbox and edit to and so on in imovie 11.
so i got final cut pro x trial, imprted my game clips into final cut from imovie, but it isnt as smooth for some reason. rather than running 100% smooth, it jumps a little bit, as if it were a scratched cd.
all the settings seem to be as they should be but im getting nowhere.
    any help is much appreciated.

What year is your iMac ... how much memory ... which graphics?  Have you gone into the Preferences under the Final Cut Pro menu and selected the Playback tab and set to Use Original or Optimized Media ... then under that set the Playback Quality to High Quality?

  • PSE 11 images loose quality when dragging since updating to Yosemite

I make composite images by placing 2 or more images onto a white background, which has always worked well, until I upgraded to the Yosemite OS. Hitherto I have dragged my JPEG image onto the background then dragged a corner handle to reduce the size of the resulting layer. The quality of the layer image had always remained the same after dragging but now, as soon as I drag the image onto the background, the image degrades and becomes pixilated and blocky.
    Any suggestions please?

In case anyone is thinking about this -
It seems this is a symptom of the trackpad problem. Although I only use a few tools, PSE11 is working fine since I disconnected the trackpad. Hopefully the issue will be sorted out soon.
Thanks to anyone who has spent any time on this.

  • Importing avi into Imovie, i loose Quality

    OK.....
I'm importing avi files from my PC to my Mac. File sizes are around 1.2 GB each. When i import them to Imovie, takes about 10 minutes to, and when the files are imported, the quality is not good. BUT! when i import these files into IDVD and place them in a menu screen on IDVD, they look great! So ? What do i need to do so when i import my .avi video files, i won't loose quality when importing them to imovie. These files are uncompressed and come from a home design software. Please post ASAP with answers i need to resolve this issue for a client of mine. Thanks everyone!

Never judge by what you see in iMovie, the playback is bad. Always judge by what you see on a TV (via DV camera or iDVD and DVD player).

  • Apple Lossless Encoder, import then burn, do I loose quality

Can I copy my CD using iTunes and Apple Lossless Encoder and have the same quality CD as the orignal?

You won't loose quality when importing in Apple Lossless.
As the name implies, this compression method retains all audio information.
If your only purpose is to create a backup copy of your CD (deleting the files afterwards), importing in uncompressed AIFF is a lot faster.
Note: The copy you create in iTunes will not be an exact copy. iTunes is not capable of burning DAO (Disc-At-Once), so there will always be small gaps between tracks, even if you have it set to 'none'.
This is no problem for most music, but can be annoying when tracks are supposed to play consecutive without gaps (e.g. live concerts)
    Hope this helps.

  • HT4528 when i first got my iphone thru verizon, i had 2 movies, and numerous songs that came from my cd's i owned already. or from music that i already had on my computer. however, i didn't think i would be chgd for putting them on itunes,i pd more doing

the 2 movies on itunes i purchased, and put on itunes, for travel. i also added music that i also had to my itunes on my computer. heck, i was charged more for the movies, than i paid for them on my original purchase of them when i put them on itunes. the music on itunes was also music that i purchased the cd's, myself, and loaded onto my computer so that i would be able to carry it with me when i went on a trip..but when i got my bill, i was being charged for purchasing them again...is that how itunes works? if it is i will not be adding any more of my movies, or music on it at all. iphone or computer? by the time i got the bill it had added allmost 40+ dollars to my bill. and no i was not over my space i had for my phone, and definitely had room on my computer.  so please. if thats how it works tell me and i will not add any more to my itune acct. i was quite stunned to see what additional charges i was paying again, and even worse more than i'd paid for it all the first time when i purchased....i have sent an email upon figuring out what had  made my bill so high, just as i am now. as of today i have not gotten any response from customer support. if this is the case i will not only not use itunes on any of my devices but i will see that upon renewal of my contract. i will NOT purchase any device that you have to use iturnes on it....i have spoke to several people and they had the same thing happen to them. so do we have to pay JUST to add our own movies music etc to itunes. cause if thats the case i will go back to other phones and won't have to deal with itunes.i didn't PUCHASE any of it from itunes, and if i had i would have done it only with an itunes card just to avoid and have control of my bill, as i thought that i would..so please let me know if i have to pay again for my OWN items,i put on itunes. i had plenty of space on my computer, the cloud, dropbox etc. that wouldn't even make any sense for anyone to do it....please respond, it has taken a while to send again due to several very personal tragedies i have been a bit behind in getting this cone again but i would love to get or have someone explain WHY i am paying for music and movies that i had and thought it was a good idea to put on my computer for travellimg purposes. i hope and would appreciate an acknowledgement of this letter, and also a response...because if that's the case i won't be using itunes any more for adding movies or music to itunes, and on top of that paying for it all a second time, and it also being more than i had originally paid for them when and where i purchased them..i have been please with all my apple products till that happened, now not so sure....i have to keep up with all of my expenses for medical reasons..i hope that i get a response this time. i also have 2 other email addresses, [email protected], and [email protected],i used them to try to use them to set up my acct., but for whatever reason said they were invalid and i have had them for several years, no problem with any one else......

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.
