Pre-install for Christmas present.

I'm giving an imac as a christmas present and would like to pre-install some word processing and games programs onto it, but leave everything intact so that come christmas day, after the experience of the apple welcome animation and account registration, the applications are already inside ready to work and play. is pre-installing programs possible on a mac (presumably under leopard)?

In addition to DaddyPaycheck's comments, you'd have to create an admin account and password to install software. This admin account and password may not be named as the user wants. It would also obviate booting into Setup Assistant.

  • Does photoshop come pre-installed for free?

does it come pre-installed for free on the iMacs? Because i want to get one and i am wondering if it is on there for free?

Photoshop is not a free or OEM product on any system, any platform that I know of.
As the previous post says, you can download a trial version, but the full product, depending on level, on any platform (Windows or Mac) costs about $650, or $1000 for the extended version....

  • Restoring new MacBook to intro video for Christmas present after install

Ok, king of the stupid questions:
How do I restore the new MacBook to pristine, turn it on and get the full effect first time intro video? I just got a new CoreDuo 13" black laptop for my fiance for Christmas. I installed Office and a couple of other things, set it up to connect wirelessly to my network, etc. But, I would like her to turn it on and get the full-on Welcome, Bienvenido, Wilkommen, etc. video that Apple had set it -- I was impressed.
I know, I know. Why didn't I let her do the install, the set up, and let her enjoy the new Mac experience -- this is her first. I'm ditching her Gateway once she transitions. Well, she doesn't care about or have time for that crap. I know she'll love it, but now she's focused on kids, school, and me, and computers are tools to do her homework, etc.
I'm sure it's an easy fix, like deleting a cookie or prefs file. But, I don't want to mess around with her new box too much. I'm even going to wipe my greasy fingerprints off before I rebox it for Christmas.
    Help.
    Thanks,
    John

You might have a look at THIS discussion from the other day. If you follow what I instructed and also what Kappy added (very important) you should be able to give your fiance a "new" MacBook for Christmas.
Bad boy. You shouldn't play with her present.

  • Silent Install for Adobe Presenter 10

I am getting an error (A valid installer cold not be found) when trying to create a package using AAMEE. I have used this in the past to package Presenter. I have targeted the path to setup.exe and set-up.exe.

Here is a more detailed explanation from RajeevAdobe
Instructions for creating Presenter 10 package for 32-bit OS and 32-bit PowerPoint or for 64-bit OS and 64-bit PowerPoint:

    Now, click on “Create Package”.
    Select “Serial Number License”.

Click Next and enter the serial number for Adobe Presenter 10.
Now, select Adobe Presenter 10 from the list and create Build.
Adobe Presenter 10 package is created and you would see “Builds” and “Exception” folder.
Deploy the contents of build and exception folder just like you do for other CC products.

  • New Iphone for Christmas present.

Im really wanting to get my boyfriend the new iphone for christmas since he already has a plan with at&t. The only problem is I don't want him to know until christmas and then after christmas we both go in together to get his phone number transferred over to the iphone. My question is, is there anyway to just buy the iphone with out switching the contract over to the new phone or getting a new one? Because right now all I want to do is basically get an empty sell of a phone. lol

Well to get a phone at the price advertised (the subsidized price) you have to 1) be eligible for an upgrade if you already are with AT&T) and 2, agree to two year extension. Thus your boyfriend has to be present to do so as he has to authorize.
Otherwise you have to pay FULL price for a contract free iPhone (a lot more money).
So pretty much need to just print out a nice picture of the iPhone, put it in a card and say you want to buy him one.

  • Able to get new phone for Christmas present if not Account Owner?

Okay so I have a gifted from the trade-in program and I want to buy my dad the phone he has been wanting for Christmas. He is eligible for an upgrade, but he is the only account owner. So I am wondering if I will be able to purchase him the phone he wants for Christmas and not yet put it on our plan and than after Christmas he can go into the store and activate it himself and so on. But before I waste gas going to the store, I just want to know if I am able to do that?

Even if i don't put it on the account yet... and i just buy it and he does whatever he has to do with it.

  • HT201263 Hi bought second hand iPhone for Christmas present, plugged it into laptop it comes up with there is a problem with your iPhone!!!! I know seller and it has not been jailbroken how do I sort this?

Really don't know what to do have tried different leads etc

See if you can force the phone into recovery mode, as described here, & restore it:

For some users, it can take several attempts to get into recovery mode.

  • I think I know what I need to do to pre-install for FiOS TV.. am I right?

I currently have FiOS internet/voice service. I ran a Cat5 line from near the ONT to a wiring closet in my house, where the router sits and feeds the rest of the network.
As I read about FiOS TV, thought, this is going to have to change. Instead of Cat5, I will need a coax run to the wiring closet to feed the Actiontec which will then feed the rest of my Cat5 network. Luckily, the 2 coax runs I current use for DirecTV are running right above the wiring closet.
So, I believe I need to tap into one of the two runs of coax and add a 2 set coupler. Continue on run of the coupler to where the DiPlexer is today and replace the DiPlexer with another muliset coupler to feed the various TVs. Take the other run of the first coupler and send it down into the wiring closet and have it ready for the ActionTec router.
I believe the existing Cat5 from the ONT will go dark as will the second run of coax ruiing through the house. I am assuming FiOS only needs one of the coax runs to feed all the TV and DVRs and MRDVRs or whatever I end up with.
Oh, yeah.. then I need to wait for 1.9 so I can get DVR to DVR communication.
    How'd I do?
    Thanks,
    - m
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You can leave the CAT5 from the ONT to your router, and only carry the TV signal from the ONT to the TVs over COAX. The router wil bridge between the CAT5 WAN and the COAX MoCA LAN connections for your TVs to get the signal. But you will need coax and CAT5 from your ONT to your router. The coax would have a splitter to your STBs, and a connection to your router. That is how mine is setup. I can use my own router if I like, but it is not supported. If you chose to use your own router you would still need to pass the IP to the coax with the actiontec.

  • Why not reduce the price for the pre-installed Aperture3?

On the configuration page for the MBP, I find the cost for the Aperture 3 remain £173.00.
I wish it preinstalled but it would be much cheaper to purchase through the App store.
Is the premium paid to obtain a Aperture 3 CD? I am mystified.
What is best for the stability of Aperture 3 ?-Pre installed [pay the premium] or down load from the the App store without an Aperture 3 cd?
    Regards

So, I ordered a new MBP with Aperture pre-installed for $199.99 before checking out the Aperture page on Apple.com and seeing that it was available for $79.99.
I called Apple immediately to change the configuration of my computer and have it removed.
They seemed perplexed. Nice, but confused. How could this be true?
    Truly.
But it is true, and once they realized it, they sympathized. They told me that they would reconfigure the computer. I asked if it would be possible for Apple, since they were charging $79.99 for the software, to simply reduce the price to that # for the preinstall?
The operator left and came back, saying she was able to have the price of the computer reduced by $100.
Which is great. I asked if changing the configuration of the computer would cause a delay in shipping - she suggested it would, but realizing that I didn't find it just to pay even $10 more for an application to be pre-installed, she asked if I'd like her to try to have the difference removed. I said, why yes, thank you.
She came back to say that the price would be matched.
So, I'm getting Aperture pre-installed for the App store price.
    I bet you can too.

  • Lost pre-installed office for mac cd

    Hi all,
I bought my macbook pro with pre-installed office. I don't think it ever came with the office cd. If it did come with it, I cannot find it anymore.
How can I go about finding my serial for it?
I'm on 24 days of the trial after my re-install I re-installed mac office off a colleagues cd in case you were wondering.
    Thanks
    M

If your Mac came with Office pre-installed for a 30-day trial period (as my 2006 MacBook Pro did), you can use your install CDs/DVDs to reinstall it. When I sold my old MacBook Pro I did just that for the new user, installing all of the trial products (I think that Filemaker was another).
Just find your install discs that came with your Mac and choose to install just the "extras," I believe. Then you'll have the trial version back.
This probably won't help you - just let you know why your Mac may have come with Office pre-installed and where to find it.
I'd just buy the 2011 version from a reputable dealer (not MS, they charge more than $40-50 more than you can find it elsewhere)

    Clinton

  • Will MacBook Pros sold in July come with OS X Lion Pre-installed?

I want to get a MacBook Pro for my 16th Birthday this summer in July, and I was wondering if OS X Lion will come pre-installed for free with any Mac sold after the official release date of Lion? I would rather not have to spend money or wait to buy a Mac until it becomes free, but if I need to I will. Just wondering.

I bought a Mac air on July 9th, just a few days ago, and Lion was not installed by default, of course, not available yet. But I was told by the Apple representative that I will be able to download Lion for free, later.
Now looking back, I think I got lucky. This is my 1st Mac but I'm a long time Linux and Windows users. I would like to see how smooth the upgrades are before jumping into Lion. If Os X works like Ubuntu, some in-place upgrades tend to break existing applications. I know hardware/software integration is better on Mac, but still is a scary step to me.
I also installed couple of applications on Snow Leopard, including Office 2011 for Mac and not so sure if that will work or not under Lion.

  • Pre-installed bloatware: yes or no?

    Hello all,
I was wondering if Win10 always come with bloatware (inc. Skype, Facebook, YouTube etc.)? Is it optional? And, will the RTM come in a vanilla version (no pre-installed apps whatsoever, like my OEM Win7)?
Personally I have no desire for pre-installed apps and rather keep control of my installation.
    Regards

    Hi The F34R Channel,
Like Team Zigzag told above, Windows 10 didn't have any bloatware (for those that you listed) pre-installed, for Windows Store Apps, it has some build-in apps like photos, music, movies, and email.
You may check the information on this topic at:
Apps . you may manage the build-in apps through Windows Store.
Further developing is still on the way, so here it is hard to say how the changes will go about the built-in Widnows Store Apps.
For the built-in apps in Windows 8.1, you may check at:
    Great apps come standard

Is there a pre-installed application on the iMac that would allow me to crate documents, presentations and spreadsheets or do I have to buy iWork for this?

No pre-installed app that will do all that, and yes, you could buy iWork - or you could download the free (although they do seek donations) LibreOffice: http://www.libreoffice.org/ or OpenOffice: http://www.openoffice.org/porting/mac/
