Pre-Loaded 5th Generation i-Pod

Hey Everyone -
First off I want to say that I just received my first ever i-Pod, which is a fifth generation unit that is black in color. It was purchased for me by a friend who pre-loaded it with a ton of music for me. I went to start loading music videos to my unit when I started bumping into a problem.
I share a computer with my wife, who has an older, non-color display i-Pod (our computer is an IBM NetVista running Windows 2000). She already has i-Tunes on our computer and in i-Tunes, she has an extensive library with her music files. When I go to plug in my new i-Pod, i-Tunes detects the unit and asks if I'd like to sync my unit with my wife's library that is already on our computer. I always select "no" as I do not want to lose the existing music files that were pre-loaded onto my i-Pod by my friend and have it replaced with my wife's. Once I select "no", it seems as though there is nothing else that can be done in i-Tunes that will allow it to detect my unit, create a library for me based on the music files that I already have on my unit and allow me to purchase my own music files to be added to my i-Pod. Is there any way around this? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated and Thanks in advace for your advice.

What you are trying to do is considered music piracy, and it's illegal.
You cannot keep the content that your friend put on it.
The Apple iPod was designed specifically to hinder this type of illegal file sharing.
If you want the tracks that your friend has, I suggest you purchase them legally for yourself.
Please don't steal music!

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I have recently purchased an Amstrad portable dvd player and was wondering if it is possible to view my saved movies from my i-pod video onto my portable dvd player. Was told by local shop it wasn't as you only had option of audio and not video. The portable dvd player came supplied with cables to watch movies through the portable player and onto a tv

A portable DVD player normally only has OUTPUT jacks and would not have a reason to support input jacks. So there would be no place to INPUT your iPod signals.
So the first question is, does the portable DVD player have actual INPUT ports?

5th Generation i-Pod takes 12 minutes to be recognized in i-Tunes

Although I have no problems when my (Windows formatted) i-Pod is connected to my Apple i-Mac. When I connect it to my Windows XP based PC, it causes i-Tunes to freeze, but (after 12 minutes) i-Tunes un-freezes and recognizes my i-Pod! Weird or what? I've tried de-installing, re-installing, up-dating, removing Bonjour, re-installing Bonjour, standing in a bowl of custard etc. All to no avail. Can someone please help me?

The issue you are having IS with the iTunes update to 7.7 and they are aware of the issue. here is a link to the directions on what to do.

I would erase then eject and unplug your Ipod and then follow the steps in the link.
when finished dock your ipod and sync.
The problem did arise from the most recent update.

The songs I got off from youtube and converted on to itunes will not upload on to my new 5th generation i-pod? The message says that itunes can't find the songs. I have 387 songs from youtube and I don't want to have to convert them again.

The message means what it says. iTunes can't find the actual music files. You can confirm that by trying to play the songs in iTunes on the computer.

Ipod Nano 4th or 5th generation won't recognize Itunes and shows loading constantly when I am on Nike plus

My Ipod Nano all of a sudden won't show up on my Imac computer nor will it show up in Itunes. I use it for running and I use the Nike + software, at the same time the recognition problem occurred when I click on the Nike + on my Ipod Nano it shows the circle and says "Loading".
Also when I plug it in to the computer it says Connected do not unplug unless you eject, however there is no icon on my Imac to eject.
Even when I reboot the Ipod Nano, the same thing happens...the Nike + just says loading and it doesn't get recognized by my Imac.
Help what do I do????? I have tried rebooting several times, as well as using another mac and no luck. I even sent an email to Apple but so far no answer. Any clue how to fix this?
I think it has something to do with the Nike+ application, but don't know what to do.

Photo file loading onto ipod 5th generation

I am trying to load photo files onto my new 5th generation ipod but they don't load as the logical 1 to 2 to 3..... file numbers as I have organised in itunes photo folder. For example all the photos I have edited, eg:rotation, end up being loaded last in my ipod. How do I keep the same file number order in my ipod as is in the itunes folder??

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Apple has made no announcement about any future models of iPod, and until they do there's nothing anyone here can tell you. We'll all just have to wait.
