Pre-loading a scene while playing a movie

How would I go about pre-loading "Scene 2" of my web site,
which is the main content area, while my intro movie "Scene 1" is
playing? The movie playing on "Scene 1" is an flv being streamed
from the server.
Is there a way of doing this so when my flv is over, "Scene
2" appears without the user having to wait for it to load?
Thanks in advance,
G

all scenes load as your swf loads. you can monitor the load
progress of various scenes by using actionscript.

  • Controller disconnect notification while playing Bluray movies

When you're watching Bluray movies, you get a huge notification whenever DS4 shuts down automatically. Worse, when you re-connect it, PS4 pops up a full screen prompt of which player is using the controller, taking you out of the movie completely. IIRC you can set the DS4 auto turn off somewhere in settings, but it's nevertheless something that should be less obtrusive. There should be an option to turn off on-screen notifications during movie play, or Netflix etc. Haven't noticed if other notifications popup during movie play. This is a rather big annoyance, and I hope it gets fixed in an upcoming update.

Who in their right mind wants to have a good movie scene ruined by this notification? The only solution for now is to disable the controller sleep, but as we all know this is far from satisfying given the poor battery autonomy of the DS4.

  • Looking for an App to Lock the Screen while Playing a Movie

I've been looking for either an app to lock the screen (not turn the screen off like the button on top of the phone) while playing a movie or a media player that will prohibit you from pressing buttons while a movie is playing. The reason I'm looking for this is my son likes to watch movies on my iPhone while we're in the grocery store, but I spend more time restarting the movie or navigating back to the iPod app and restarting the movie than he spends watching it! He likes to press the "done" button or home button which ends the movie. So an app that would prohibit that would be GREAT, but I haven't been able to find one so far. Any suggestions?

An app will not be able to do this.
    Sorry.

  • Green screen while playing a movie

I purchased and downloaded a movie from the iTunes store. When I try to play it, it freezes, only showing one frame every 20-30 seconds. Eventually it green screens the movie window, and iTunes shuts down. I am running the most current version of iTunes and have all updates installed on my computer. I would like to watch this movie, and to use iTunes. Please help.

For anyone interested: I deleted the movies on the 2G and reinstalled them using my other computer which uses Windows XP and ITunes 8. The green screen no longer appears when I play the movies. They were first installed with my computer that uses Vista. ITunes 8 is acting funny on the Vista machine. If I click on a link it will not go to the page until the pointer is removed from the link. I will reinstall ITunes and see if that helps. Anyway, I hope this post makes sense!

  • Can you listen to audio only while playing a movie?

    Hello everyone,
I was wondering if there is a way to turn off the screen and listen to the audio only when a movie is playing?
I have some teaching videos as movies and I thought it would be really nice if I could listen to the audio only and save battery power.
    Thank you for your help.
    Marco

I don't know of any way to turn off the video directly so the way I do that is to run the video through a program like Kigo Video Converter to strip out the audio only, then load that on the iPod.

    Hi.
I have very unusual problem here.
When my computer is plugged and I try to open movie, game or pic I lose my screen (I get different mix of colors) and the computer is locked.
But when it works with battery it acts normally, no problems.
I don't know what is it about.
Is it about VGA or sth about power.
I would be glad if you help me.
    Thank you.

Yes, the notebooks are covered by warranty. Standard warranty is one year but if you register it on the Toshiba website you get additional one year; together 2 years warranty coverage

  • AirPlay often crushes while playing a movie

Similarly, when I stream pandora from my iPhone it will usually stop working after about 20 minutes. The only way to make it work again is to reset the ATV

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • Strange green screen problem while playing movie

For the first time I purchase a movie from iTunes Store, As I started playing it neither I could hear the sound nor I could see the video but after much of effort of re-starting my iTunes and MacBook, it started to play but while playing the movie if I shift to full screen mode, a strange green screen appears for a second or two and then plays normally and if while playing I return back to normal screen, the green screen never goes, then again I have to stop the movie and restart iTunes to be able to play back the movie normally. Does anyone have any idea about this strange problem?

    Hi Maen Abdulhaq,
“When I start games like Red Alert2 and a lot others”, ” I don't think that this is a manufacturer problem since it's very common to all those having windows 7 x64 and trying to play such games”
Did this issue occur in the whole games or just the Red Alert2 in your machines ?
    “unfortunalety windows compatibility settings”
Have you tried in windows 98 or lower compatibility mode, please ensure you have choose run as an administrator?
Apart from this ,I recommend you to try this method.
create a shortcut of "Yuri.exe" (or "Game.exe" if running normal RA2), and place it on the desktop. Open the properties, and in the target line add "-dxlevel 8" to the end. It should look like this (or similar if you're directories
    are different).
     "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Red Alert(tm) II\RA2\YURI.exe" -dxlevel 8
Meanwhile,  entering Intel HD Graphics control panel (via Windows Control Panel or right-clicking the desktop) and enter Power section. Choose "High performance" mode.
If the issue persists, I recommend you to disable one graphic card from the device manager to have a check considering you have two graphic cards.

  • How can I see the bitrate while playing a DVD?

(I posted that also on the DVD Studio Pro page, but there I got an advice that points to a professional and expensive tool - Digigami's 'Mpressionist'. Maybe here someone can help me with a simpler sollution. I will post on both sides potential sollutions.)
So, I have a DVD encoded with variable bitrate, and I want to see the bitrate while playing the movie. In QuickTime I can see only the "global" bitrate, not the one of the actual scene.
    Thanks.

For the moment I got only that:
    - MPressionist, a very nice tool, but very expensive too;
    - MacDVDBitrateParanoia that displays the bitrate of the whole DVD as a graph, but not while the DVD plays, so I can not see the relation between complexity of a scene and the bitrate.

  • Lag after pre-loader hits 60% and before movie starts playing.

    Hi all,
I’m hoping somebody can shed some light on an issue
that I’m experiencing with a Captivate project I’m
working on. I’ll try to explain this in detail so you
understand the background and scope of this project. These are
being exported as HTML/SWF and being viewed within IE6.
I’ve been tasked with taking a new employee training
course that is currently handled by a live person standing in front
of a room of people and showing them an 18 minute VHS tape and also
covering information that is presented on a PowerPoint file, and
making it into a Captivate movie.
I was able to get the original digital video cut into 4
chunks and converted to SWF by media group that produced the tape.
The four SWF files are 320x240 and range from 13 to 22 megs.
Because of the size of the files and the amount of content, I
created 8 ‘modules’ that make up the larger project.
The last slide of the first module launches the 2nd module, etc.
until the user has seen all of the modules which on their side
(other than a brief pre-loader popping up at times) is mostly
transparent and they think they are just watching a 30 minute
    training course.
Basically, what I’ve done is laid out the modules so
that the whole course alternates back and forth between text slides
with voice-overs and the movie clips. The movie clip SWF’s
have been embedded into every other module, so:
Module 1: Intro to the course (text & voice-overs)
    Module 2: Video clip 1
Module 3: Discussion about stuff (text & voice-overs)
    Module 4: Video clip 2
Module 5: Discussion about stuff (text & voice-overs)
    Module 6: Video clip 3
Module 7: Discussion about stuff (text & voice-overs)
    Module 8: Video clip 4 and wrap-up
    Now here is the problem:
We have 20+ offices and I am located at the main office where
the web servers are located. If I run through this, everything
works great. I tested this in one of our off-site locations today
where they have a semi-fast connection, but still going across a
    WAN.
Module 1 loads fine. Hits 60%, plays, user can click Next,
Next, Next to proceed through the training. At the end of Module 1,
we prompt them with some text to let them know there may be a brief
delay before they see the upcoming video clip. Click Next, loads
Module2.swf which has the videoclip1.swf embedded in it (21 megs).
Takes a little while to load which is expected. Hits 60%.
Preloader goes away and then just white screen for at least 10
seconds (sometimes 20-30 seconds, depending on the size of the
embedded movie clip) before the movie actually starts playing.
This is not acceptable as the user will think that something is
broken. If the movie is not completely loaded, then it
shouldn’t have hit 60% and the preloader graphic disappear,
    right?
I think that the problem revolves around the movie clip not
being able to play until it is fully loaded, although the Module
has loaded the 60% that it needs to begin playing. The only way
around this that I see is re-arrange my slides so that the video
clip is not the first slide to play in any given module.
We tried this on at least 7 computers, all of which were just
rolled out new last fall, so the machines are definitely beefy
    enough to handle this.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Nope, I am not being a wise guy, but I know it's possible to
have so much "weight" in the content of the last 40% that
additional delay might be required while a (early) required element
or object completes down-streaming. Just a thought...
    Hi Larry,
Good to see you back on the forums and thanks for the reply.
What you posted further proves my point. From what I've been taught
about Captivate, it loads to 60% and begins to play while the
remaining 40% loads. Not loads to 60% and then some portion of the
remaining 40% may or may not have to load before it starts. If
that's the case, why not just load 100% before it starts and then
    have no problems?
It shouldn't matter how large the file is, right? The only
difference is that larger files would take longer to reach the 60%
mark. 60% is 60% is 60%. Compare a feather to a car. 60% of the
weight of each item is still 60%, it doesn't matter how much it
    weighs.
60% of a cubic foot of rock is the same percentage
as 60% of a cubic foot of marshmallows.
Anyway, I think the solution here is to fudge the problem by
putting a few 'less weighty' slides in front of the slide with the
embedded video so that the user has something to look at other than
a blank screen. I was just hoping somebody else might have
experience this and had a magic button I could press to make it all
    better.
I could handle this if the preloader continued running so the
user had some clue that it was still working, but when the
preloader hits 60% and disappears and then nothing happens for
    another 10-20 seconds, that's a problem.

  • Loading other swf's in the background while playing another

I am creating flash banner ads and have run into a size
issue. My final scene ends up being like 700k which is too big for
it's application. The file is made up of 2 scenes however and If I
could split these into two and have them load seperately it would
be ideal. The thing is the second scene needs to load while the
first one plays so that it still feels like one movie not two
chuncks. Is there and easy way to play one movie while preloading a
    second?
    Let me know.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.

  • QT movie will not pre-load text track for chapters when streaming

We have been trying to stream quicktime files with chapters for some time and have followed every tutorial, message board advice and trick to get this to work but with no luck. I am unable to get the chapters to show up in QTplayer when the video is streaming. I am trying to accomplish exactly what you see on this web page http://media.law.unimelb.edu.au/kalt/
Basically, we have successfully created our movie file (with fast start enabled), successfully created our text track, copied it onto our movie file, and set it to preload, as in the instructions at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/chaptertracks.html (I had to roll-back QT Pro as the Preload checkbox has disappeared from 7.4.5!!).
Then we have saved it as a self-contained movie, and it works perfectly, with drop-down chapters in the right places, etc.
As soon as we put the file on our quicktime streaming server however, the file streams great but there are no chapters. If I look at the movie properties of our streaming file, there is no text track listed. The properties of the streaming file on the above web page DOES show the text track listed, so I am guessing that mine is simply not pre-loading the text file, even though I have checked the box to do just that and the chapters work great if I simply open the file locally, just not when it is streaming. I have tried this with many test files, large and small.
Could anyone let me know how I can get that text track to pre-load in the stream and therefore have the chapters appear in the drop-down list in quicktime player when streaming? I would be eternally grateful!

First, you don't have to roll-back QT Pro, as what you want to do can be accomplished with the latest QuickTime.
Second, skip down to the bottom of that page you linked to. You'll find a Step 1 and Step 2 that applies to Streaming QuickTime movies with chapters. This was sort of confusing when I first tried it, but the way you accomplish Step 1 is to start the stream using a computer that has QuickTime Pro, then save the stream as "Self-Contained" (NOT the original movie that resides on your Streaming Server). As when you save any QuickTime stream as Self-Contained, you'll end up with a really tiny movie that simply points to the streaming server.
Once you have that movie, you add the chapters to it (again, not to the movie that resides on your QTSS), then when someone clicks that link (or even if they download that tiny movie to their desktop), the chapter loads immediately (because it's right there) and choosing chapters in it commands the QTSS to begin playing from that point. I've got an example I posted here.
