Pre-ordering through Apple or Verizon?

We have a family plan and it is my wife's line that is eligible for an upgrade. A Verizon rep told me yesterday that we could use her upgrade and activate the phone on my number.
My question is, is this easily accomplished if I order the phone through Apple, or will it come already activated on the line that is eligible? Since I need to do this, do I need to order through Verizon?

I don't have experience ordering the iPhone from Apple but I have ordered every iPod I've owned (except the ones I received as gifts) from Apple. I've always received quicker than expected delivery with absolutely no issues. I would have ordered my iPhone back in February through them but I wanted to use my New Every 2 credit so I had to order through Verizon to ensure that I was able to use the credit. I've never had a problem with ordering from Verizon either. The biggest issue (if you could even call it that) was the slowness of receiving my tracking number via email. Mind you, this was when the iPhone first came to Verizon and it was during the preorder...so in VZ's defense, there were a lot of orders taking place that had to be shipped...and despite the "slow" email I received my iPhone quickly and before the date it was available in stores. Honestly, I don't think it matters which one you order from. Baring some odd issue you will recieve your iPhone in a timely manner. Those that ordered through Apple may have received their confirmation emails with tracking info quicker (really can't remember), but to be honest, people were very impatient at that time....and were already freaking out when they didn't receive an email by 10:00 am on the date it was ordered! Many were hoping that since they ordered at midnight (3:01 am est) they would receive their iPhone that next day...it didn't happen that quickly but I know I received mine on that Monday morning...if I remember correctly, pre-order was on the 3rd....I recieved mine on the 7th. since we had to factor in the weekend (and the fact that Saturday deliveries weren't being done...and they don't deliver on Sundays) that wasn't bad at all.

Pre-ordering through apple site or vzw

I have been seeing a lot of people say that they will be pre-ordering through apples site..however, I thought the pre-orders were only through vzw. Does anyone know for sure...Its about the only thing I am not sure of, that matters to me. If you can do it on apples site what time will they start..I would assume 3am eastern but, I hate to assume anything when it comes to vzw

I chatted with an Apple CSR on Saturday. I asked him if the online apple store would be offering the verizon iphone preorder and he said yes. I asked him if they would be starting at 3am ET as well, and he said they had not been given that information at that time.
We still can't be 100% sure, but I feel more inclined to believe them over the Verizon CSRs at this point, lol.

Should've PRE ordered my iPhone 5 through sprint... I'd have it tomorrow.... NOT HAPPY that I ordered through apple...

So I pre ordered my iPhone 5-- 15 minutes after pre orders started online at 2 am (central time) and pre ordered a black 16 gb iPhone with a delivery date of 9-21 (which is fairly common I guess for most people that ordered that early)
Literally an hour AFTER I pre ordered my iphone 5 on APPLE- my husband decides last second he wants me to pre order him one if there's any left... of course Apple's pre order delivery date had been pushed to 2-3 weeks an hour after pre orders had opened at 2 am, so I quickly logged onto SPRINT's website and noticed they still had some available for 9/21 delivery so I pre ordered him the same iPhone as me....
Well I am wondering if ANY one that ordered through Apple has gotten their iPhone SHIPPED yet- because my order is STILL being processed for shipment and my HUSBANDS iPhone 5 I had pre ordered through SPRINT is going to be delivered by TOMORROW....

I was trying to order through Sprint first at 12am PST but couldn't get on their website. Finally at 12:30am the Apple site worked for me so I went through them. My mom ordered two phones from Verizon at the exact same time(both lines had an upgrade available). One of the orders got an error on it and Verizon could not tell her why when she called them this morning. They had her cancel her order and replace the order, she did and the sales rep she talked to her supposedly put her back in line where she was and assured her that she would recieve both phones on Friday, so we shall see.

Having Issues With IPhone 4 Pre Order at Apple & AT&T

Hi all
I to tried to order this morning and am stuck in the loop at the Apple site. I then went to the AT&T site (Premier and regular) and those give you the link to pre-order then only show you the 3GS. Even the AT&T rep could only bring them up.
I do have a question for all. When I placed my business number in (have business and personal) to the Apple site it told me to go to AT&T. My question is if I am finally able to order a phone under my personal line can I use this with my business line (transfer the phone to that line) ? I am eligible for upgrades on both lines.
Reason I ask is that I will be buying one phone per account but as the white is not available was thinking I would order the black first on my personal line and pair it with my business number. I know you could do this by calling AT&T and switching over your SIM card in the past but with the new micro sims is that possible ?

I had the same problems with the Apple site. The AT&T site began offering the iPhone 4 pre-order around 4 AM CDT and I was able to pre-order through them on the first try, after several failures on the Apple site. The only downside is that you have to have it shipped, so you can't pick it up at a store as you can with the Apple site.

How does pre-ordering with Apple work?

For people who have previously pre-ordered with Apple (for an iPad or iPhone) or are familiar with their pre-order process, would you mind explaining the process to me?
In other words, will their website lag due to an overload of orders? Will everyone be guaranteed an iPhone 4 on the 15th? Is there limited availability? Will they be depleted out of iPhones if I order an hour after?
I don't care when I get it, but will I be guaranteed one on the pre-order date?

What has happened in the past is the pre-order date is when you can place an order for the phone. You will not receive it until at least the 24th (available date). If you want to be one of the first on your block to get one, I'd recommend ordering as early as possible. You will be told the prospective "receive by" date when you order. Historically, those that order early, receive them on the available date. Of course you can also camp out at your local Apple Store (as has become an Apple tradition).
It is possible there might be a lag during the initial rush, but I doubt it. Apple has figured out how to take orders fairly efficiently

I didn't even have time to cancel the preorder as that processed a couple minutes before the bundle was posted.
Pre-orders are apparently not worth my time ever again.

Pre-order question for iPhone5/Verizon

I have a quick question...
My wife and son currently have the iPhone4 with AT&T and they are now out of contract. I'm currently on Verizon. I want to change their carrier and pre-order the iPhone5 for both of them from Verizon. I want to add those lines to my existing Verizon account and transfer their numbers as well. Would I be able to do this through this through the Apple Store's web-pre-order system? (or possibly Verizon's?) or will I have to speak with someone about doing this?

Preorder online through Apple or Verizon

I want to buy an iPhone 5 but I do not have a Plan such as Verizon. Would it be better to preorder through the online Apple store or preorder directly through Verizon online?

If you do not have cellular service or you have cellular service with another carrier and plan on switching to Verizon, Verizon will need to run a credit check. You should be able to get this out of the way prior to the pre-order and you should or the pre-order will be delayed. You select your carrier when placing a pre-order as an existing customer with whichever carrier or as a new customer. As a new customer, a credit check will be run and must be approved prior to the pre-order being finalized. This can and should go quick unless there is a problem with the credit check, which is why I would get that out of the way now which can be done at a local Verizon store without switching to Verizon and creating an account at that time.

anyone see the problem here?

Pre-order at Apple store

just wondering do u guys think apple should or could do pre-order at the apple retail store? save people alot of time and them alot of time as well. For me i would have to drive almost 2 hours to get to the nearest apple store, which i cant commit to that everyday hoping they would have an ipad 2 in thier shipment. So if they could do pre-order people would stop calling in every day to bug them about it, and sometime might not even make it in on time to get it before it sold out.

i did the same..what i did was i ordered mine on apple.com early in the morning on the 12th (which pushed to 3-4 weeks) then i also place pre-order with best buy(1-3 weeks)
just a little tips for those out there, you should pre-order urs online now or do the best buy pre-order and in that mean time just keep checking with local apple store and maybe you'll get luck and u can always cancel those order. Apple wont charge you until the product start shipping. just a good way to cover all your ground.

For those of you who have pre-ordered phones in the past, did you find you got better results doing it from apple rather than AT&T or vice versa? Just wondering if it really even matters. Thanks!

If you pre-ordered quickly enough from Apple after pre-ordering began for the iPhone 4, Apple promised delivery on the same day it went on sale in the brick-and-morter stores. What actually happened was that a lot of people (myself included) who pre-ordered received them the day before the official start-of-sales date.

Any difference between pre ordering from Apple vs. T-Mobile?

Just to double check. Go into the Purchased tab of the App store. You should see the apps are "installed". If they have a button that says "install", I'd do that.
