Pre-release Io-HD question

Question

I know that it isn't released yet, in fact, I still don't know when it is scheduled for even after googling the heck out of it, but I have a fairly simple question about it's inputs. This is purely curiosity talking since I probably can't afford the Io-HD and also it being complete overkill if it can do this. My question is, I see that it accepts Y/Pb/Pr and my HDV camera has a component connection, but not HDMI. As a result, I can only capture via the firewire, which I've been told I can't easily convert into something like DVCPRO HD. Now my camera gives an HD output via the component, so could I plug my camera into the Io-HD and import full HD through it? I'm also wondering if that's useless since HDV is already heavily compressed and pulling into ProRes 422 is meant for uncompressed HD at SD data rates, there's be no advantage in doing so.
I know that this is all pre-release, but I bet many of you readers were at NAB this past week, or at least may have read something I didn't and have an answer, or maybe you just know the answer already. Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated.

Andy, The Io HD is worth every dime if you can use it. Solutions like this cost thousands more before it. Crossconversion standalone box, works with any intel MBP or MP. Makes capturing from cameras with TC outs a snap.
Its a wonder. I actually think that costs going down will actually cover the expense of the box in no time. Capturing on the set is the way to go for most applications. The editor has to become familiar with the footage anyway... have him do the job for you on the set.
P2 brought this to the forefront I think. All the mistakes get caught and reshot right then and there... it's a wonderful thing all round.
Editor gets his roughs done right there on the set... I like this for all but a few things... I don't believe editors should be on narative film shoots.
Io HD captures any format except dual link. Turns any of the formats to the others too.... think of the uses... it's endless. MBP's are all you need for this. Add a matrox MXO to the mix and a 23" display and you have external video for the DP, director and editor too for under $2,000. MXO now has a blue only gun complete with proc amp controls. (new at NAB). Makes it very viable now I believe. You could buy any HD monitor of course too, but not without spending a bit more. Gotta have dem blue only views for calibration.
Let alone being able to capture to the Pro Res format on a laptop... to a cheap set of drives external SATA even FW raids would be more than adequate. G-Tech mini raid anyone? The costs in storage ALONE pay for this box. One would be best off buying this before he spent a ton on fast storage. It cuts storage and makes laptops actually edit the "real thing". works with towers of course. Has a handle and pretty lights. (they are the audio level during input)
