Pre Requisite to learn MDG

Hey All,
I am getting a chance to learn MDG, before i go for training, i just wanted to see what are the pre-requisites to learn MDG.
I have been working in MDM and PI for quite some time and have working knowledge of ECC.
Do i need to know anything else beforehand?

Hi Saif,
MDG is completely based on ABAP, but we don't need to write any code for standard scenarios. We will be using SAP workflows, Brfplus, Master data tables in ECC etc. But to implement a predefined scenario like MDG for material or MDG for supplier, just knowing the configuraions will do, no need to learn anything in detail.

In order to develop any OAF Application you need to know few concepts before doing any kind of development. The concepts are basically the Business Components for Java(BC4J) components.
They are:
Application Module(AM)
Entity Object(EO)
View Object(VO)
Association Object(AO)
View Link(VL)
Now let us see the description of each component.
Application Module:
Application Modules serve as a containers for related BC4J components. The pages are related by participating in the same task. It also defines the logical data model and business methods needed.They provide the transaction context and also used for establishing database connection. AM’s can be nested to provide more complex AM’s.
Entity Object:
EO encapsulates the business logic and rules.EO’s are used for Inserting,Updating and Deleting data. This is used for validating across the applications. We can also link to other EO’s and create a Association object.
View Object:
View object encapsulates the database query. It is used for selecting data. It provides iteration over a query result set.VO’s are primarily based on Eo’s. It can be used on multiple EO’s if the UI is for update. It provides a single point of contact for getting and setting entity object values. It can be linked together to form View Links.
Association Object:
An association object is created where we link EO’s. For example take the search page where we link the same EO to form a association between the manager and employee. Every employee should have a manager associated. But if it President then no there is no manager associated. This is a perfect example to understand the AO.
View Link:
A view link is an active link between view links. A view link can be created by providing the source and destination views and source and destination attributes. There are two modes of View link operation that can be performed. A document and Master/Detail operation.

what are the important things we need to concentrate while learning OA F.i means mostly what areas are typical / requires more efforts in learning.

Basic java and sql knowledge is enough to learn OAF. You can start with OA developers guide ! It would be an ideal combination if you have an idea of J2ee archietecture!

Pre-requisite for Learning Solution Implementation

Dear All,
We were planning for LSO Implementation. But we were not sure about the components that needs to be installed in ECC as well as in Portal. We have LSOFE 600 ( Learning Solution Front end ) installed in our ECC 6.0 server. What else the components that needs to be installed for LSO implementation?
The following were the components available for Learning Solution as per note 529063
LSO - Learning Solution Add-on ( in ECC Server )
LSOFE - Learning Solution front end ( in ECC Server )
LSOCP - Learning solution content player ( in Portal server )
LSOAE - Learning Solution Authorizing environment ( in Portal server )
Do we need to install all the above said components? As per note 600209 LSO is available only for R/3 4.7 version? Which add-on do we need to install for ECC 6.0? Is LSO add-on is mandotory? Any help is much appreciated.

To determine possible landscape components use the Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/learningsolution -> Necessary System Environment (right hand side) -> Continue to Find Realization Alternatives for Selected Scenario "Managing Enterprise Learning Strategies" -> Implementation in SAP ERP (radio button). Options are now available that show the required and optional components necessary for the implementation.

MOPZ selecting technical usages with JAVA pre-requisite

Hello all,
Upgrading from 46C to EHP5. Some of the desired technical usage require both ABAP and JAVA system. For example, HCM_Learning Solution has the following pre-requisites
- SAP Learning Sol-Client (Lern, Auth, CP) - all JAVA
- Learning Solution (ABAP)
- SAP Learning Sol-Frontend ABAP
- Portal Content (Java)
So cannot select it in MOPZ since the 46C is not connected to a JAVA instance.
It means the ABAP side reqires two-step upgrade (1) upgrade to EHP5 without the HCM_Learning Solution, then (2) connect to a JAVA instance, select it it in MOPZ, then another ABAP upgrade with HCM_Learning Solution.
Any suggestion how to do the ABAP side in single step - i.e. include the Learning Solution (ABAP and the SAP Learning Sol-Frontend ABAP, then just create the JAVA instance after the ABAP upgrade? Is this a valid scenario?

Workaround of this situation is:
Add As Java usage type as well in system definition in SMSY. As a result you will be able to select these usage type as well in MOPZ. But it will give you Java packages as well. You can ignore those packages. And then you can carry out upgrade in a single step.

               Anybody with knowledge of HANA are eligible. With BW/BI it adds to your skill set, you can understand the modeling concepts better ( any ways the database concepts will be covered here as well ).
                    One thing you have to understand is that the person with good process knowledge of subject will clear the interview.
           So I suggest you learn HANA module and know the basics of BW/BI, that should be all.

Am working ion BI and am looking to learn SAP BPC NW7.0
But before going to that I need to know what are the other platforms knowledge is required and what are the pre requisites are there.
1)     Does it require SAP BO Knowledge?
2)     Does it require SAP BCS knowledge?
3)     Does it require MS-Excel knowledge (Like writing macros and complex formulas)
4)     Does it require Finance knowledge?

It is not easy to provide the answer without specifying in what area you would like to work.
More into application side or more into technical side.
Any way I will try to provide some general answer to your questions
1.No you don't need SAP BPO knowledge
2.No you don't need SAP BCS knowledge
3. Yes you need Excel knowledge but not necessary to build Macro. Usually you have to be able to pass the certifcation for User Microsoft Excel (which doesn't include anything regarding Macro or VB code).
Having good knowledge about Excel you will be able to build easier the reports with SAP BPC.
4. Yes if you woudl like to do consolidations or any application where you have to understand financial processes.

Started with Grid Installation. Copying Software to remote node & linking libraries were successfully without any issue (upto 76%). But got issue while executing root.sh on Node1

Sharepoint 2013 - Error installing pre-requisite on Windows Server 2012 R2

I have been trying to get my Sharepoint 2013 installed on windows server 2012 R2. I was never able to get past the pre-requisite installer. It keeps failing at "Configuring Application Server Role, Web Server (IIS) Role" and was never able to get
past that.
In the last 3 days i tried almost all of the suggestions posted in various forums but was never able to get it work. Any insight in to this error and resolution is greatly appreciated.

I voted for the SharePoint 2013 isn't supported yet link. I spent 4 hours resolving the issue. In my installation, there were many claims by the installer that the application server role is corrupt or unavailable. I dove deep into the installer files and
found 1 file that was not in the correct place. I am not going to mention it, because it is the reason the installer should fail.
Downloading and installing sharepoint 2013 sp1 was the answer. Why? Because Windows Server 2012 R2 was my operating system. Windows Server 2012 R2 was not a supported type of installation for SharePoint 2013 until SharePoint 2013 SP1 was released.
I hope this helps those whom have ben in dire need. Even though Paul was initially correct in his statement, the release of SharePoint 2013 sp1 opens doors.

Swap Space error in pre requisite check of NWDS2004(Support Pack18)install

Hi,
Trying to install NWDI SP 18 (SAP Netweaver Developer Workplace ) trial version on my machine with Windows XP.
The installation (after installing J2EE Engine + MaxDB + NWDS 2004 etc), it has thrown some error regarding page size.
So when we check the pre requisites for the installation of the software, it is giving the below error that the swap size needs to be increased.

Right click my on computer ->Select Properties -> Click Advanced Tab ->Click Settings (performance) -> Select Advanced Tab -> In virtual memory -> Change ; You canIncrease swap space/page file here.
