PrE8: creating new export preset

Hello all,
Quick question, how do I create a new export preset from scratch in PrE8 ?
I know I can modify one of the provided presets and save it as a copy, but I would like to create a NEW preset from scratch, and be presented with all the options that you have.  I am interested to learn the flow of the process, fist chose the format, then each codec, etc.
Or is this something that Adobe reserved for themesevles ?  this would be a big dissapointment...
Thanks!
Gonzalo

Were you aware that, example via Share/Personal Comuter/export choice, you could
(a) go about setting your preset and your customized settings under the Advance Button for the project's Timeline export
(b) click Save to export that Timeline
(c) when the export was complete, do not hit DONE, but rather click on Share As Quick Share so that the settings used become saved user customized preset for another project

  • [AS][INDCC] How to set Color Conversion field to No Color Conversion when creating PDF Export preset

How can i set Color Conversion field in Export to PDF dialog to No Color Conversion when creating PDF Export preset? i have done a bit of searching and have found where it has been recommended to set effective pdf destination profile to use no profile but it doesn't seem to be producting the expected results.

Yes, it seems that i had to make the change after creation, not while creating the preset. thank you.

  • Export presets do not save file naming template

I don't know if this is a bug or a missing feature so I'll post here first, then submit a bug report if necessary. I have done a search first but not found anything relevant.
When you create an Export Preset, LR does not save the File Naming Template you want to use with it, the template is always whichever you used last. Seems a bit odd because you might want to use different filenaming conventions depending on what you are doing with the export, eg. different names for proofs, web galleries, etc.
However, if I am missing something, please me let me know.
    Kind regards,
    mcv

That's what I see also but what I meant was that two 'options' down, you can choose what 'File Naming' template to use, eg. Filename, Custom Text (x of y), etc. These don't get saved with your Export Preset, they stay the same as the last one you used. At least on my Windows version.
I don't know how you do enclosures like you did, so I'm linking to the images instead to show you what I mean.
While I was taking screenshots of this I noticed some other peculiar behaviour. It seems that the preset DOES actually save the filenaming template but doesn't show you this. I'll explain as follows:
Here I have a template for full size JPEGs, I invented some custom text and that's why the preset says 'edited'.
    http://www.mcvphotography.co.uk/imgs/gallery/4295_168305550246ba83c417104.jpg
Here I have changed the preset but the File Naming template appears to have stayed the same, though it does show a 'preview' (01.jpg).
    http://www.mcvphotography.co.uk/imgs/gallery/4295_56540006946ba83c532d43.jpg
However, this is odd - I moved the mouse over the custom text box and the words instantly changed to the words I had last used (Castafo is the name of a band). I had not saved the name of the band in the template.
    http://www.mcvphotography.co.uk/imgs/gallery/4295_117289421846ba83c645133.jpg
Lastly, I tried another preset and again it appears the template is the same but the 'preview' is correct. Mouseing over did not change any text.
    http://www.mcvphotography.co.uk/imgs/gallery/4295_168262086846ba83c76e439.jpg
Pretty weird and inconsistent behaviour, don't you think? The software that is, not me - I already know about me(!)
I always keep an eye on the preview anyway so no big deal but do you have any thoughts Ian, or anyone else?
    Thanks,
    mcv

  • HDV export preset?

I began my motion project with an HDV 1080i 60 preset.
When it came time to export I exported to a quicktime file using the HDV1080i60 compressor. (1440x1080)
When go into FCP and try and drop the file into an HDV 1080i60 sequence I am forced to render...
How can this be when all settings are equivalent.
I also noticed that there is no HDV preset for export in motion, even with the HDV settings motion is calling the export preset a "customized" DV NTSC movie
Any suggestions on how to get it in to FCP w/o rendering again?

Although I don't use HDV, I use DVDPROHD, I think I can answer your question since they work the same in Motion. FCP needs to render a Motion project regardless of what settings you've picked in Motion - in Motion, the settings are not tied to a specific codec, they're simply width/height/frame rate/etc. Think of a Motion project on the FCP timeline as an uncompressed file with HDV dimensions and frame rate - FCP needs to render the file before it can play in realtime alongside the HDV-compressed material you are editing with.
So, you can either let FCP do the rendering of the uncompressed file to HDV, or you can do it in Motion by exporting to HDV codec, but either way, a render of some kind has to take place, it's just a question of where you do it. The advantage of letting FCP do it is the round-tripping works better since you can go back and edit the Motion file multiple times without re-importing, so that's usually the best way to handle it.
Motion didn't include a DVDPROHD preset, either. Hitting the Options button just temporarily modifies whatever preset is currently shown in the list, which is why it says customized on the DV NTSC export preset after you change it. But that's ok - I made my own, there's a preferences pane in Motion where you can make new export presets. I just copied one of the existing ones, renamed it to DVDPRO HD 720p 30 QT, and set up the codec and other settings how I wanted it. I made that the default and now I get DVCPRO HD movies every time I export, it should work exactly the same for HDV.

  • Anyone know why LR would change all my export presets to hard drive?

I am trying to create some export presets, but LR wont allow me to create any that export to Hard Drive. They all change when I hit "Add" to Email. I go and try to update with current settings, but they all keep reverting to Email and not Hard Drive.
    Lightroom 4.4, btw.

Email seems to be the "go to" export service when there are problems with the current export service. It happens to me all the time when export plugins are fouled up. I wouldn't expect it to happen with hard drive export service however, unless hard drive export service is fouled up in Lightroom. Be sure to try it without any export filters (post-process actions) inserted, since problems with those could be a factor.
If you have the problem without "export filters" inserted, then you may have to re-install Lightroom or something - something not right..

  • Image Export Presets won't save

Hey folks, since I've upgraded to Aperture 2.1, I hadn't setup any new export presets since using Aperture 1.5 and noticed that my export behaviour is all messed up.
Specifically - if I try to add my own preset, upon hitting the OK button and revisiting the image export preset screen, my added presets do not persist!
Even more surprisingly, if I delete many of the existing presets (say all the TIFF presets) when I come back to the Image export presets the deleted presets have returned from the dead.
Can anyone provide some insight on this? I can't find any other place in Aperure or the OS that governs the preset settings.

Fyi - if you run into this problem completely un-installing and re-installing Aperture seems to have fixed it.
I'm not clear on what lead up to the issue tho.

  • LR 1.3 cannot save changes to export preset - only create new presets

So, in LR 1.2, I could change some parameters in a preset (export presets) and then save the changed preset. But the upgraded LR 1.3 export form does not seem to have a "save" option. I can create a new preset, I can remove a preset, but I cannot save a change to an already existing preset. I can get around it by ...
. add, creating a new (ie. temporary) name saving my changes
    . open the original preset
    . remove (the old preset)
. open the new preset (with the temp name)
. add using the old preset name that I like to use
. open the temporary (ie. new) preset
. remove (to delete the temporary preset)
    - yuck! What an ugly work around :(
Can we please have our save option back again?

It's still there. Right-click the preset you want to update and select that option.

  • Why can't I create a new user preset?

    Hi there,
I recently got Adobe Lightroom 5 - upgraded to 5.6 but I can't seem to be able to make a new user preset. I have tried re-installing the program and upgrade but nothing seems to work. I've also clicked 'create' several times with the preset named 'test' but the preset is nowhere to be found.
I was previously using Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop CS 5 but decided to switch over because I read about the ease of use of Lightroom. Would appreciate some help on this.
    Kindly advise, thanks in advance!

You are talking about the forward, back, mail and trash can icons in the Notes App - correct?
I've gone through restarting it and followed the instructions from the person last week.
Have you restarted the iPad - is that what you mean? Have you quit and then restarted the app? Quit the app, and restart the iPad. It's worth a try.
Double tap the home button and your recent apps will appear at the bottom. Hold down on the Notes app icon until it begins to wiggle. Then tap the minus sign to quit the app. Then tap the screen. Now restart the iPad.
Carolyn explained this above (restart) but here it is again....
Hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and slide to shut off. Hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logos appears then let go of the button and the iPad will restart. See if that helps.

  • Access Denied when Exporting, Creating new folder.

My normal workflow on some occasions is that I work on images then making a selection, I will export then to a folder on my desktop.  I normally hit the Export and on the pop up I click on create new folder and export the images to the folder.
Since the new update, when I try to create a folder it gives me Access Denied.  If I create the folder first, there is no problem.

    Hi,
I would like to suggest you run the following commands with elevated privilege.
    takeown /f {Folder Path}
    cacls { Folder Path} /G administrators:F
Note: please replace {Folder Path} with the real folder path.
After that, please try to delete the folder again.
    Does it work?

  • Cannot Save Export Presets PPro CC2014 (also in AME CC2014)

I cannot save any export presets in Premiere CC 2014 (PPro CC 2014) or import any presets.  Also applies to Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 (AME CC 2014).
When I go File > Export > Media (or ⌘E) and set my format and output specs, I cannot save the preset.  The preset says "custom" and then I hit the "save preset" icon.  Type a name in the "Choose Name" dialog box, then click OK.  The "Choose Name" dialog box disappears, but nothing happens.  The preset line still says "custom" and there is no preset file available to choose.  The preset is not saved.  Export works, but the settings must be manually entered each and every time.
I also cannot import any presets.  Have .EPR files with presets that I've used in the past and NONE of them will import using the "import preset" icon.
The presets will also not import into AME CC 2014 via any method at all - icons, dragging/dropping, copying to various directories... cannot load them.  I cannot add them to the user presets & groups at all, no matter what method I have tried.  It's frustrating and becoming infuriating.  I can create a "New Group" in the user presets and groups, but nothing can be added to the group.  Clicking the + for "create new preset" does nothing - no window opens or appears.  Clicking "import presets" opens the "import preset" dialog box and I can choose files and click open, but they do not import or appear anywhere withing AME CC 2014.

    Also see this discussion:
AME CC 2014: "Adobe Media Encoder has encountered an unexpected error and cannot continue."

This was not directly a permissions issue.  Had checked that numerous times previously and applied settings to all enclosed items on every folder that was related.  This workaround was attempted several times previously, but had not worked.  Now, it's working.
Re: AME CC 2014: "Adobe Media Encoder has encountered an unexpected error and cannot continue."
I will say, what I did differently this time was trying to edit the Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014.app via Show Package Contents before attempting to do any of this.  Not sure if that's why it suddenly worked or not, but worth mentioning.

  • Adobe Premiere CS6 'Create new Trimmed Project' Crash with .MXF files

Yesterday I started to back up all our students work, and found that the "Create New Trimmed Project" no longer works in CS6 with .MFX files.
Adobe Premiere CS6.0.3,  crashes when I try to "Create New Trimmed Project" under "Project Manager"
This only happens when there are .MXF files in the Sequence.
As we use Panasonic P2 cameras at this university, this is a problem, as this is the format that they shoot in.
As a test I have made a Project with only one .MXF file placed on the sequence, and it crashes.
This happens on my Macs and Windows machines with Adobe Premiere CS6 .
Adobe Premiere CS5.5 works fine, and does not crash.
    Unfortunately I cant save a CS6 project as a CS5.5
If you don't have any .MXF files to test this,
You can make your own .MXF files by exporting any video file as "MXF OP1a" or "P2 Movie" Format, (the Preset setting is irrelevant - any preset will cause it)
    P.S.
Using "Collect files and Copy to new Location" under "Project Manager" works fine, but does not reduce project size as much.

I also discovered this behavior last summer.  Unfortunately the best (lame) answer I could find was that "Some formats, such as Long GOP based media files, cannot trim media, or add handles."  Source:  http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b1038518aef7-7c72a .html
That's not very specific, but in my case at least (and it sounds like in your case, too) .MXF may be another file type that cannot be trimmed.  If I remember correctly, the answers I got from others was that they were able to export fine.  My machine (and maybe yours) has an issue that nobody else seems to have encountered.  So none of the prescribed remedies allowed me to move forward in this regard.
After much searching, asking and several suggestions from various Premiere communities, I gave up and moved on.
Use Remove Unused and then Collect Files and Copy to New Location.  At least that can help you if you have a lot of clips.  In my case, it didn't help much, because my very short clips were edited from very long takes, so as Premiere sees it, not much was "unused".
Be aware that "Project Manager does not copy and collect After Effects compositions that are dynamically linked to an Adobe Premiere Pro project. Project Manager does save the Dynamic Link clip in the trimmed project as an offline clip, however."
Wish I could offer you more.

  • Error message when setting up export preset to hard drive

laptop is only a few months old LR 5, updated 5.7 recently.  trying to create export preset to hard drive.  First time trying this to send photo for email.  an internal error has occurred Win32 API error2 system can not find file specified when calling shellExecute ExW from Ag workspace.
What would cause this error and how do I fix it?

    Hello Jen,
Congratulations on your new MacBook Pro!  I understand how important is to have your email account setup on your new computer. I found a couple of resources that I think might help.
You can check the Mail Setup Assistant for the server settings for common email providers.  I recommend checking your email settings here first to verify they match what you have in the Mail application:
    Mail Setup Assistant
    https://www.apple.com/support/macosx/mailassistant/
If the Mail Setup Assistant does not provide settings for your email account, you can use the following article when contacting your email service provider to gather the necessary information to setup your account:
Configuring Mail for your email account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1277
If you are able to setup your account but messages are not being downloaded, I recommend reviewing the following article:

  • Importing of  PDF Export Preset

Does anyone know how to import an existing PDF export preset into IDS. Ideally I'd like to set up Presets in InDesign desktop and then copy them into IDS, but I cant find where the preset files are stored. Alternatively, I could save existing presets as .joboptions files, and then use the script interface to import them. I cant find the right calls to make.
    Thanks.

PDF presets are all stored in the same place for all Adobe applications.  If you create a new preset using InDesign desktop it will automatically be available to IDS, and vice versa.<br /><br />On the Mac they're stored in : '/<user>/library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings'<br />On Windows: '<user>\Application Data\Adobe\adobe pdf\settings'

  • Save export presets?

I have looked everywhere and cannot find a way to save export presets I've created. I'm assuming these presets are stored somewhere. It's a huge hassle having to recreate the export presets when multiple people have image archiving duties, or if you do a new CS install. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm assuming these presets are stored somewhere.
On a Mac these preset are stored in the user library (by default hidden per OSX 10.7, if you don't see it use menu Go and press option key to reveal).
    Here is the path:
    User (Your name) / library/ Application support/ Adobe/ Bridge CS(xx)/ Export presets.
You can copy this for back Up and paste it in new set up same location and then they should show after restarting Bridge.
On Windows it might be the same route but a bit different starting location.

  • Export presets now direct me to the "Browse For Folder" dialog box

Suddenly Lightroom will not remember the name of the "export to" folder when I use my export presets in certain ways, even though the name of the "export to" folder appears in the "Export" dialog box. The prolem exists in Library and Develop modules. This is what's happening…
    IF I CLICK ON "FILE":
    1. And choose the "Export" option, LR displays the Export dialog box, from which I can select an user preset and export a JPG file to the proper folder, as intended. (OK)
    2. And choose the "Export with Previous" option, LR exports the JPG file immediately to the proper folder. (OK)
    3. And I choose the "Export with Preset option, LR displays the menu of Lightroom presets and user presets, but clicking on a user preset displays the "Browse for folder" dialog box from which I must manually browse to the export folder before a file can be exported. (NOT OK)
IF I RIGHT-CLICK ON THE IMAGE:
LR displays a menu containing these options: Export, Export with Previous, the Lightroom presets, and my user presets.
    4. If I then choose "Export," LR works properly---same as example 1 above. (OK)
    5. If I then choose "Export with Previous," LR exports the JPG file immediately. (OK)
    6. If I then choose one of my presets, LR does not work properly: it acts as it does in example 3 above. (NOT OK)
    BACKGROUND:
I have been using these presets for almost a year without fail---they're great! Two days ago I moved my Lightroom catalog to a new external drive. I also renamed the "export to" folder (that new name is stored in the "Export" dialog box).
I sure would appreciate hearing from anyone on this because it's driving me crazy. Thanks.

    SOLUTION FOUND:
I created yet another folder for storing exported JPGs. Then for each export preset I used the "Browse For Folder" dialog to point that preset to that new folder. All presets now work as before. This fix was tolerable for the seven presets I have, but a large number of presets would have made it a real chore.
