    Hi,
    The Reporting Agent is a tool used to schedule reporting functions in the background.
    The following functions are available:
    ●      Evaluating exceptions
    ●      Printing queries
    ●      Pre-calculating Web templates
    ●      Pre-calculating characteristic variables of type pre-calculated value sets
    ●      Pre-calculation of queries for Crystal reports

    Basically when you have a Precalculated Template, the system first run a report (which has been scheduled) and read the data from there when you run your template. This can imrpove the performance respect to online read data.

    Hi,
      You can use the TCODE REPORTING_AGENT in Bi7 to use reporting agent. But Reporting agent works only for 3.x queries it wont work for 7.0 queries. To precalculate or precache you can use information broadcasting in BI 7.0

  • Precalculated value set in process chanin

    Hi all,
    Can anyone tell me wat is precalculated value set in process chains.
    Regards,
    Khaja.C

    Hi
    Pre calculated value sets are used for reporting purposes. They will act as inputs to queries where variables are used.
    The values maintained in the value set will be substituted in place of variables in the query at runtime and the query output will be generated. This is done in process chain for automation purposes. Usually they are used in conjunction with BEx broadcaster.

  • Empty Precalculated Value Set Tables?

    We've successfully implemented Pre-calculated Value Sets in BW 3.5 using Reporting Agent.
    Does anyone know how to get rid of, or empty pre-calculated value set tables that you no longer need?  There are some reporting agent settings that I have deleted from reporting agent but they continue to appear in the Pre-calc value set variable as an available option when running the query.  It's like the setting got deleted from reporting agent but the underlying table didn't?
    Perhaps this is an issue for OSS but I thought I'd see if maybe there is an option I'm not aware of.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Thanks - I also found OSS note 825017 that seems to address the issue as well.  We'll see if we can apply this note so we can get the ABAP program to delete or empty these tables.  I think that will resolve the issue.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Significant digits not obeyed when value set through property nodes

    Hi, I have a front panel with a large number of indicators on it. As updating each one is a very straight forward task, I am using the This.Panel.Controls array to step through and update each indicator appropriatly. The problem is, that because I have so many indicators, and the actual numbers aren't that important (they are also being logged elsewhere) I only wish to have 4 significant digits displayed so that the value fits into the size of the indicator. I set each indicator to have a display format of %_4f, but when I run it this is not obeyed and 7+ digits are displayed. I'm guessing this has something to do with updating the controls via the property node, but I'm not sure why that should cause an issue. Any ideas?

    Nope, I double checked the format string. I do mean significant digits by the way. My imput values are expected to be in the range 0-100 but I've sized my indicators to fit only 4 digits, which will give me at worst a 0.1% error over the full range, which is good enough. Right now the channels from which I am grabbing data are all disconnected, so I am just getting noise. I've attached images of both the format string I'm using, the relavent part of my code where I update values, and an example of the output I get. Thanks,
    Jon

  • Value set to make BEx variable faster (BW3.5)

    edit> No one knows?! I really didn't think this will be difficult, come one... easy points for this one!
    Good day all,
    This must be a simple problem, but I can’t find any instruction on the web how to do this.
    I’ve got a BEx query on BW3.5 that has a variable as input, but when you click on the dropdown box, it takes extremely long to bring back a set of values.
    I’ve been told the way to get pass this problem is to define a pre-calculated value set in Reporting Agent.
    I have done this, but can’t get the query to use it.
    What are the steps? It should be simple…
    I’ve chosen the following options (which is not working)
    Processing by: User entry / Default Value
    Variable represents: Precalculated value set*
    Variable entry is: Optional
    Valueset: Z_MY_VALUE_SET
    I don’t think this is right, because this implies that the query automatically uses the value set as filter, instead of the user’s input.
    What is happening, is that when the variable dialog opens up, it shows Z_MY_VALUE_SET as default value and when I open the dropdown it still takes long to retrieve the values.
    Thanks in advance
    Rudolph

  • TCA value set error

    I have created three value sets and this one is to extract the contact from the id the value set gets sent.
    SELECT PARTY.PARTY_NAME, DECODE(ACCT_ROLE.STATUS,'A','Active','I','Inactive')||' '||PARTY.PERSON_LAST_NAME||' '||PARTY.PERSON_FIRST_NAME,
    ACCT_ROLE.CUST_ACCOUNT_ROLE_ID
    FROM HZ_CUST_ACCOUNT_ROLES ACCT_ROLE, HZ_PARTIES PARTY, HZ_RELATIONSHIPS REL
    WHERE 1=1
    AND ACCT_ROLE.PARTY_ID = REL.PARTY_ID
    AND ACCT_ROLE.ROLE_TYPE = 'CONTACT'
    AND REL.SUBJECT_ID = PARTY.PARTY_ID
    AND PARTY.PARTY_TYPE = 'PERSON'
    AND :$FLEX$MISAR_HZ_PARTIES = ACCT_ROLE.CUST_ACCOUNT_ID(+)
    ORDER BY PARTY.STATUS,PARTY.PERSON_LAST_NAME||','||PARTY.PERSON_FIRST_NAME
    When I reference the value set through a standard custom form through a descriptive flexfield I get the following error message:
    APP-FND-01242: Cannot read value from field $FLEX$MISAR_HZ_PARTIES
    Cause: The field $FLEX$MISAR_HZ_PARTIES could not be located or read.
    Action: This error is normally the result of an incorrectly-entered field name string in a trigger, or a field string that does not uniquely specify a field in your form. Correct your trigger logic to precisely specify a valid field.
    I've checked all the other value sets by running the SQL through SQL*Plus and they work fine.
    There is no id to send to this value set but it shouldn't fail.
    Any ideas why this error is coming up?

    The issue is usually caused by descriptive flexfield validation logic referencing a <block_name>.<field_name> combination that does not exist in the form.
    The setup causes the issue because the flexfield is unable to pass validation. Either disable the problematic descriptive flexfield or remove all references in the descriptive flexfield validation logic to the invalid <block_name>.<field_name> combination.
    Solution
    -- To disable the descriptive flexfield, please execute the following steps::
    1. Go into the System Administrator responsibility
    2. Navigate to Application > Flexfields > Discrete
    3. Query for the problematic descriptive flexfield. See Note 1016241.102, for guidance in identifying the flexfield.
    4. Clear the 'Freeze Flexfield Definition'Note 1016241.102, for guidance in identifying the flexfield.
    4. Clear the 'Freeze Flexfield Definition' checkbox.
    5. Disable any Global Data Element segments.
    6. Disable any context-sensitive (non-global) structures.
    7. Check the 'Freeze Flexfield Definition' checkbox.
    8. Save the changes.
    9. Retest the issue.
    10. Migrate the solution as appropriate to other environments.

  • Apache ignoring HTTP_HOST set through PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList?

    Hi,
    I just want to see if anyone else has had a problem with Apache ignoring the HTTP_HOST value set through PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList in the wdbsvr.app DAD?
    I've set it like this:
    PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList HTTP_HOST=hostname:8050
    in wdbsvr.app in the Apache/modplsql/cfg directory. We're using the Apache that comes with the EBusiness suite. I've stopped and restarted the server, even going so far as to stop the entire app and bounce the database to see if it would make this thing stick. For some reason it's still showing up as hostname:8250 in the flash chart xml.
    Is there anything else I can do? Just for debugging, here is the entire DAD from wdbsvr.app:
    [DAD_apex]
    connect_string = db_name
    password = password
    username = apex_public_user
    default_page = apex
    document_table = wwv_flow_file_objects$
    document_path = docs
    document_proc = wwv_flow_file_mgr.process_download
    reuse = Yes
    enablesso = No
    stateful = STATELESS_RESET
    nls_lang = American_America.AL32UTF8
    PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList HTTP_HOST=hostname:8050
    Thanks! I think this just needs another set of eyes...
    Mark

    Hi Jason,
    Thanks for the document link! Unfortunately that didn't work either. My DAD now has cgi_env_list=HTTP_HOST=servername:8050, but it's still pulling in as servername:8250. I set it, bounced the Apache server and did a select owa_util.get_cgi_env('HTTP_HOST') from dual through SQL workshop and it still came back with the wrong port number.
    Do you think I should clear the cache while the Apache server is down?
    Thanks,
    Mark
