Precalculation Server Gateway Host

Dear Experts
I have installed the Precalculation server but  could not find the gateway host. Thus i am unable to get the precalculation server online.
I am attaching here the screenshot and looking forward for your inputs.
Implemented the notes as recommended
1702229
1742277
But as mentioned in the guide I found the note
1315171 - PrecalcServer: connection problems in precalc server  in status  " can not be installed "
I  suspect that is that is the reason why I am not able to bring the server online  or could not configure the gateway host?
Please give me some suggestions!
Best Regards!

Hey,
You might need to se the parameter mentioned in this Note:

  • I Want To Turn My B&W G3 Into A Server To Host A Small Website, But How?

Hi, I just got a B&W Power Mac G3, and I would like to turn it into a small server to host a small music website. I dont expect alot of traffic. So, I would imagine it could handle this. However, I don't know what I should do to get the G3 up and running the site? I'm doing this with very little money most of it being spent on the Power Mac. So, I need software that is cheap yet reliable. Friends have suggested a few apps but I want to know what you all suggest.
    Server Wishlist:
    1. Cheap or Free OS
    2. Lightweight on CPU
    3. GUI or very little command Line usage.
    4. Friendly to PC
    5. EASY Setup and Install
I asked this question earlier and it was "locked" with no explanation. So here I go again sorry if I posted incorrectly the first time.

The G3 should be more than sufficient for light web usage.
If at all possible, I'd want to use OS X. While it doesn't necessarily meet your first two criteria, it beats any other options in the rest of your requirements.
If that's not possible, you could try Darwin (http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/). The latest binary available (8.0) tracks OS X 10.4 and should install on a B&W. Download the binary, use Disk Utilities to make it a disk image and burn it to a CD. You should be able to boot the machine from that CD.
From there, I would install Webmin (http://www.webmin.com/osx.html), from which you can control the Apache web server that comes installed with Darwin. Webmin is also useful in controlling MySQL or Postgres (not installed) or BIND or Postfix (both installed). Webmin, like it sounds, starts up a secure, SSL web server (separate from Apache) and provides a set of CGI-driven web pages that allow you to control a variety of aspects of a UNIX machine without resorting to the command line. You will need a certain number of command line skills to install Webmin in the first place.
If you want to use the latest/greatest Apache or one of the open source databases, you should get DarwinPorts (http://www.darwinports.com/), which is similar to Webmin in the skills needed for installation. DarwinPorts provides you with a gateway to (relatively) easily download open source applications and install them. A similar environment, Fink (http://fink.sourceforge.net/), is also available.
If that all seems too complex, then your course of last resort -- to meet all your requirements -- would be to install Mac OS 8.1 (the last freely distributed classic OS) and download MacHTTP (http://www.machttp.org/). There are still plenty of sites served by MacHTTP and it was the first web server software I ever used, back in 1995 when I put my first site onto the net. Chuck Shotton is no longer actively developing MacHTTP, but he continues to maintain it. It's donationware -- even with your limited budget, send him a few bucks.
By comparison to OS X, OS 8.1 is extraordinarily light. Darwin too is light.
An alternative to using Classic 8.1 would be to spend about $25 and get a 9.2 installer disk on eBay. But then, for about $10 more, you could buy OS X 10.3 on eBay as well.
Which takes us back to my first point: I'd spend the $35 and run OS X if I could.
    Best of luck.

  • Gateway host and gateway service query

    Hi Friends,
          Happy new year all.
            Im working on <b>sap-siebel</b> integration,in rfc(sm59) destinations -TCP/IP connections ....
I need to give Program and gateway options in sap system.plz let me know where can i find the gateway host and program for this integration.
All inputs will get reward points.
    Regards,
    Lavanya.

    Hi Lavanya,
If you are planning to use the TCP/IP destination on the SAP system in Register mode, then a siebel application has to register at the sap gateway using the <b>Program ID</b> given in the TCP/IP destination on the SAP system.
In the TCP/IP destination the gateway options should contain the gateway host of the sap system and the gateway service. usually the gateway host is the message server itself and the gateway service is "sapgwXX", where XX is the <system_number>.
    Thanks,
    Renjith.

  • Wrong gateway host being displayed in smgw---- go to ----- parameter

    Hello Team,
We have a CI and 2 application server.
Now when we check smgw-->go to ->paramater-->display on application serevr, it shows in CI as a gateway host instead of  that perticular application server. What should be the reason? Please let me know if you have any hint.
    Best Regards,
    Tushar

    hello,
"But How can we make sure that gateway is installed on CI ( perticular instance ) because we have gateway processes running on application server as well as CI".
In a homogenous env like Unix, the /sapmnt/sid/exe is shared.Hence ps -ef , shows you the process even on the app server. At the Os-level, each instance has this process running.

  • Precalculation server output options ?

    Hello,
    We're  building sap precalculation server.
I'm clearly not an expert in this field - but anyway:
Looks like standard way to distribute precalculation server results(generated excel files) is to send them by email.
Is there a way not to configure e-mail - just save these files to some dir (doesn't matter if this is on precalc server host or BI host) ?
    thanks
    Vilius M

    HI,
Pre-Calculation Server only executes the calculations in run time for WorkBooks, Broadcasting etc..
This does not save the files, it just holds the data files on a temporary basis. We cannot locate them physically.......

    Hello,

Running precalculation server to generate excel report.
"SAP BW Precalculation Service Multi Instance" service logs on as prec1 windows user. Report generated this way contains wrong national symbols.
But if I log on interactively on precalculation host using prec1 and do report generation using BI analyzer - I get right regional symbols.

  • Register precalculation server as my company SAP system ?

    Hello,
I need to provide WTS connection to our precalculation server for SAP support.
To configure that I need to register that host as SAP system (correct me if I'm wrong).
How should I do that ?
Standard SAP system registration includes generating license request, sending it to SAP and etc - this is simple windows host with precalc service running ?

  • Precalculation Server Landscape

    Hello,
We're considering implementing Precalculation server for broadcasting and I have a few questions as the setup of this service is confusing me.  How is this service used in broadcasting?  Also, I am reading that this service is setup on the frontend but it should be installed on a dedicated host.  Which is the case and what is recommended?  What are the drawbacks if this service is setup on the frontend only and not on a dedicated server?
Thank you for any assistance you can provide in helping clear up the confusion.

    Hi there,
you can take any workstation you want to serve as your "precalculation server".
You don't need to have a real strong machine for that. All your precalculation server does
is to execute one or more BEx Queries embedded in an excel workbook.
On your precalculation server you have to install
    - SAPGUI frontend
    - Microsoft Excel
    - the precalculation service itself (xPreCalServer##.exe, where ## ist the number of the current patch)
From enterprise portal, you can then schedule a workbook to be calculated, which causes the
precalculation server to start excel, load the workbook, execute the calculation and send the workbook
    to the destination you set.
Really, this can be done by a small client. It shouldn't be installed on a workstation which is used for other
purposes, though. At least, no or little user interaction with the precalculation server should be secured
    in my opinion.
In addition, to answer your question:
There is an RFC destination created in the BW system for the precalculation server. Does this mean the RFC destination points to the user's frontend desktop where the precalculation server is installed?
The rfc destination points to the precalculation server. NOT to any desktop a user uses to schedule a report or so.
Have you already installed a precalculation server? If not, simply try it, you can't destroy anything by doing so.
You can always delete any formerly installed precalculation server in transaction RSPRECADMIN

Other workbooks work fine. I've already created a new precalculation server but it didn't help. Has anyone an idea what could be the cause or why this just happens with this workbook?
    Any advice could be helpful.
    Regards,
    Chrigu

    Hello All,
When you have an issue with a single workbook, try to open and re-save this workbook.
This is probably happens with Chrigu. Someone opened the workbook and save again.
    Also, another tip.
Open BEx Analyzer -> Click on "Global Settings".
Check the option "Repair workbook while execution" -> click "Ok"
    Execute and save the workbook.
This should solve issues with a single workbook.

  • Issue when Bursting reports via new Precalculation Server

    Hello,
We are trying to migrate away from our unsupported 720 installation of the SAP Precalculation software to a new Precalculation Server running the latest versions. We’ve overcome a number of issues and we can successfully Broadcast using the new server but we are encountering problems
    with bursting.
The Bursts have been running successfully on the old 720 server, so we know that the BW side must be fine which suggests the problem is with the Precalculation server. We have been through the Precalculation checklist and the servers appears to have been built successfully. The Precalculation and Business Explorer software has been patched to the latest version and it’s running Excel 2013.
The main error message we are seeing is “The RPC server is unavailable” HRESULT: 0x800706BA.
A Screen shot showing the error in RSRD_LOG  is shown in the attached document.
Below is an extract from the Log of the Precalc server showing this error, just before the RPC Server is unavailable message it states

  • What kind of server can host RMI

I am trying to use RMI, however there are some simple question about the server type I want to ask. A. Is it possible to use a http server like www.myschoolurl.edu/~mypage? I can only access the root directory of ~mypage in a unix system. B. Can I use Windows 2000 professional's default Server to host RMI if I have a unique IP? How?
    Thanks

    Hi
Im afraid i do not understand your question but i will try to explain the basic concept of the RMIRegistry which is the part of the 'RMI Server concept' which binds itself on a port.
The RMIRegistry is a mapping mechanism which maps a identifier (a 'String' in java) to a Object which has methods (defined in the interface) which you can call from a remote host.
    So.. this RMI Server says:
If somebody wants to to have 'Object1' (called a 'lookup') the server searches the object and if it is availible, he will return it to the caller.
About the server type: you can run the rmi server anywhere where you can run java.
You can start this rmiregistry with a java method or start a seperate registry via the 'rmiregistry' binary.
for example: on windows you can start it with: start rmiregistry.. on unix ./rmiregistry &
(this binaray is located in $JAVA_HOME/bin)
as far as i know there are possibilities to use rmi over HTTP.
one example uses SOAP (simple object access protocol) which uses xml to transport the information...
    i hope this helps...

  • Re-use Hyper V VM built in Windows Server 2008 R2 host in a new Windows Server 2012 host

    Hi Forum members,
I was assigned a Windows Server 2008 R2 host machine with Hyper-V which I used to build many VM's for testing.  This host machine now is going to be replaced with a new Windows Server 2012 host machine.  Is it possible for me to continue
to use those VM's without any migration (e.g. is it possible to import or simply move the *.vhd + *.avhd files from the 2008 Server to 2012 Server and use them)?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Hien

That is the official statement of 'support'
They will run, and you may need to do some custom configuration (such as using a legacy nic) but you can't call MSFT support and say your Server 2003 VM is broken on Hyper-V 2012 R2
The act of importing the configuration and linking to the VHD and snapshots will work.
The act of booting the VM and having the OS in the VM 100% happy is not automatic, but should work.
It becomes a question of where do you place the risk.

  • Regarding BW precalculation server monitoring

Hi Experts, we have BW precalculation server configured in pur NW2004s BW system. My requirement is if i can monitor RSPRECADMIN using Solution manager. Like if precalc server goes down it should generate an alert.
Any inputs on the above would be much appreciated.
    Thanks Amber S

As indicated [earlier here in SDN|How to monitor Bi Precalculation?;,there is no MTE for monitoring Precalc. The work-around is to monitor the BI RFC PREC_<SID>. This provides a better end-to-end check than simply checking the Windows service on the Precalc server. Rather than monitor the RFC on the remote system, I simply created a duplicate of the RFC on the Solution Manager system, and monitored that.
See [Monitoring Availability of Services|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/70531389-0c01-0010-2a95-c019524764ae] (PDF) for a description of RFC monitoring.

  • Precalculation Server error after 10 broadcasted workbooks

    Hi gurus,
i have a question concerning broadcasting workbooks. We are using the newest precalculation server with patch 13. The first 10 workbooks are calculated and sent via email. The rest of workbooks calculated are sent as a job  but the RSRD_Log transaction shows an error. It begins with "Unresolved exception occured in the precalculation server" then next message "System.Runtime.InteropServices.comException. The RPC server is unavailable (Exception from HRESULT:xxxxxx) "
Then some other messages are displayed. Then at the end it says cannot precalculate Workbook. In rsprecadmin  the server is green and ready.
Is there any restrictionin sending via Email?
How can i get the server again to continue sending?
How can i clear the queue, to get the precalculation server ready to continue scheduled workbooks?
    Thanks and kind regadrs,
    Murat

    Hi Edward,
we are testing the broadcast functionality and we want to go live first week in september. I hope you remember and suggested me the note which came out in CW33 with the precalculation server patch 13 . we are using it but still NVs but there is also the issue with the sizing. Last night we scheduled 16 times the same workbook. All 5 minutes one workbook should be sent out. 2 Precalculation server were set up to deal with them. In the SAP document "How to ...Troubleshoot Information Broadcasting (BEx Workbooks)" in chapter 2 it is mentioned that when ycurrently you can have 10 workbooks in the queue. Therefore we set up 2 precalculation server with 10 workbooks capacity. Then we set in the Broadcast setting the load balancing option without selecting any precalculation server. My intention would be the first 10 workbooks should be broadcasted with one of the precalculation server. After he has reached his capacity the next workbooks would be broadcasted with the second precalculation server. Am i wrong?
When i check the queue i see the 16 workbooks in "Queue Overview of Proccessed Error-Free Precalculations" but with a duration with 0 seconds. the log says  in RSRD_LOG says as described before the first message is "Unresolved exception occurred on the precalculation server" then "System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800 0706BA): The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception" and at the end "Cannot precalculate workbook ZBROADCAST_TEST". I can see that when load balancing the second server is not used.
But while seraching for precalculation server it says "Precalculation server PRECALC_2 has only                                                 0 free instanzen => not selected" but why. it has never been used why 0 instances free?

Anyone know of a Mac app that can connect to a remote computer via a Terminal Server Gateway?  The Windows version of MS Remote Desktop will do this but of course that is Windoz only.

You could try CoRD.  I don't know if it has the TS gateway option either, but it is an RDC client.
