Precalculation workbook

Hi all,
I'm testing precalculation workbook and getting a problem. My precalculation server is on local PC. When I create schedule with certain date and time, the job will appear in BW server (sm37 can see the job) but without any start condition. So the job will never run. Does anyonoe get this problem before? Thanks a lot.

I'm not sure whether I understand your problem. But with a process chain you should be able to process your job.
Make a startprocess an call your job via an ABAP-process functionality in RSPC. This should always work.
Good luck

If you have EP and KM available in the landscape you can use KM functionalities to broadcast to a File server.
    See attached link for details.

  • Information Broadcasting - precalculated workbook is empty

    Hi,
we are facing the issue, that workbooks which are being distributed via Information Bradcasting (Business Explorer -> Tools -> Distribute Workbook) are being distributed, but without any results (so only the workbook template) even we have maintained the input values variant. we do also have a running Precalculation Server (checked via transaction RSPRECADMIN).
    Can somebody help?

    Hello,
Make sure you've downloaded and installed latest version of Precalculation Service (BWAPSERV12_0-10002960). When installing, make sure you have full admin rights.

  • Set sequence of precalculated workbooks

    Hi experts,
In our daily process chain we have a broadcasting event defined, where lost of workbooks are broadcasted. Is it possible to set the sequence, in which order the workbooks are published?
In our case there are 10 workbooks, which are broadcasted for all of our companies. I want that the workbooks of company A are finished first, then all of company B and so on.
Points are of course awarded for every useful message. Thanks for your help.
    br
    Klaus

Each workbook has 2 input fields: the company code (which is hardcoded in each broadcasting setting) and the reporting Period (which is the last month - automatically assigned via a variable). So each field is filled automatically and not by users.
Each broadcasting setting is marked with the flag "Execution with Data Change in the InfoProvider"
    Example:
    workbook "Monthly Reporting"
    - 1 broadcasting setting per Company A
company code "A" and reporting period "Sept. 2008"
    - 1 broadcasting setting per Company  B
company code "B" and reporting period "Sept. 2008"
    workbook "Sales"
    - 1 broadcasting setting per Company A
company code "A" and reporting period "Sept. 2008"
    - 1 broadcasting setting per Company  B
company code "B" and reporting period "Sept. 2008"
    and so on...
What I would like to have is all workbooks from company A first, then B...
    Thanks for your help

  • Broadcasting Workbook - Change attachment filename

Software component : BW release 3.5 SP 16
    HI guru,
we're using Information Broadcasting to distribute precalculated workbooks as attachments (xls-files) to our end users.
The attachment file in the outsent mail has a generated file name with the following structure :
    workbook_<technical workbook name>.xls
We have the problem to discern through filename the different workbooks sent with different parameter because the name is always the same.
So we want to change the generated attachment filename to a more meanful name.
Does anybody has a way to solve this problem?
    Kind Regards
    Stefano

    Hi,
the filename is defined in CLASS CL_RSRD_PRODUCER_EXCEL
    on Method PRODUCE
    the code is:
        CONCATENATE 'WORKBOOK_' l_wbid '.' l_creation_type INTO l_sx_document-root-file_name.
No user exit exist on this part.
No substitution of variable is possible on that (like rsrd_attr table).
    I'm sorry,

  • Regional symbol problems using precalculation server ?

    Hello,

    Precalc server OS - Windows 2003 SP2.
    Precalc service - v7 patch 5
    SAPGUI - v7.20 patch 8
Running precalculation server to generate excel report.
"SAP BW Precalculation Service Multi Instance" service logs on as prec1 windows user. Report generated this way contains wrong national symbols.
But if I log on interactively on precalculation host using prec1 and do report generation using BI analyzer - I get right regional symbols.
prec1 is windows local user and member of administrators group.
    any ideas ?

  • Autmatical refreshing of workbooks

    Hallo all dear,
is there any chance to let queries in workbooks be autmatically refreshed in the background  with daily jobs (BW 3.5!!!).
I know it will work in BW 7.0. May be there can be done some programing????
    Many, many thanks in advance
    with best regards, Dorothea

    Hi Bhana Gupta,
your advice was a great help for us! Thank you so very much. The precalculation server does well, but it only can send the calculated wokbooks to users etc. For our project it is absolutely necessary to let the workbooks automatically be saved after calculation .
I copied the program with the precalculation routine and tried to use the function module RRMX_WORKBOOK_WRITE. But after the program run, I can't open the 3.X workbook any more.  Now I try to find out, in which database tables the workbook has to be saved, so that i can save the precalculated workbook by my own program.
So my question to you or any other person who might know is: How can I save the workbook, which is given from the precalculation server in a blob-table into the  database tables, so that the old version is overwritten by the calculated version?
I can't describe what a grat favour the answer means for us! Lots of thanks in advance for the answer!

  • How to broadcast workbook?

    Hi BI Expert
Can you share with me how can we broadcast workbook? Do we need to install precalculated server if broadcast of workbook is required? Your input is much appreciated.
    Regards
    Kang Ring

    Hi Mayank
Currently, Bex broadcaster not working in my environment due to missing installation of JAVA component. Understand that precalculated server allows us to store the workbook in a central place. So that repective party can just take the precalculated workbook to perform their analysis. Without precalculated server, we have to execute the query multiple times in order to broadcast the query via email to the respective party.
Is my understand correctly with or without precalculated server, we are able to broadcast the query via email?

  • What is difference between bex analyser and bex browser

what is difference between bex analyser and bex browser . please explain what are use of both and what we do in both.

    hi
    Bex Browser
The Business Explorer Browser (BEx Browser) makes it possible for you to access all document types of the Business Information Warehouse that are assigned to your role or that you have stored in your favorites. You can select and open documents assigned to you in the BEx Browser or store and manage new documents in the BEx Browser.
Document types that you can work with in the BEx Browser are:
    · BW workbooks
    · Documents that are stored in the Business Document Service (BDS)
    · Links (references to file system, shortcuts)
    · Links to internet sites (URLs)
    · SAP transaction calls.
    · Web applications and Web templates
    · Crystal Reports
    Bex Analyser
The Business Explorer Analyzer (BEx Analyzer) is the analysis and reporting tool of the Business Explorer that is embedded in Microsoft Excel.
    Features
You can call up the BEx Query Designer in the BEx Analyzer, in order to define queries. Subsequently, you can analyze the selected InfoProvider data by navigation to the query created in the Query Designer and create different query views of the data. You can add the different query views for a query or for different queries to a work book and save them there. You can save the workbook in your favorites or in your role on the BW Server. You can also save the workbook locally on your computer.
Beyond that, you can precalculate the workbook and distribute it by e-mail to recipeients or you can export it to the Enterprise Portal and make it accessible to other employees in the company.
You can start queries in a standard view (with a Standard Web Template set up in Customizing) in the Web browser and forward the URL or continue to navigate on the Web. Similarly, you can export the Web query to MS Excel 2000.
Overview of the Functional Area of the BEx Analyzer:
    ·        BEx toolbar
You access the functions of the BEx Analyzer from the BEx toolbar, which takes you to the BEx Open dialog box where you can open existing queries, or to the BEx Query Designer where you can create new queries or change existing queries.
    ·        Evaluating Query Data
The BEx Analyzer offers convenient functions for evaluating and presenting InfoProvider data interactively. In the BEx Analyzer, you can add queries to workbooks, navigate within them and refresh the data. You can also process the queries further in Microsoft Excel or display them in the Web browser in a default view.
Navigation of a query allows you, for example, to filter characteristics on a single value, drilldown on all values for a characteristic, regroup characteristics and key figures in the rows and columns of the results area, or hide key figures. Navigation results in different views of the InfoProvider data. In addition, a range of further functions is available which allow you to edit a query interactively (for example, sorting, cumulated output, among others). In addition, you can use the editing functions in Microsoft Excel in order to set up individual format templates, to print results areas, or to create graphics.
    ·        Queries in Workbooks
Queries are inserted into workbooks so you can display them. When you insert a query, a link is made between the cell areas of the worksheet and the data of the InfoProvider upon which the query is based. A link therefore exists between the Business Explorer and the Business Information Warehouse Server (BW Server).
When inserting a query into the workbook, a VBA routine is automatically generated in the workbook. You can also connect the Business Explorer with your own VBA programs (Visual Basic for Applications).
You can create workbook templates, into which you can insert your queries. Workbook templates can contain pre-determined items for the area of the query, formatting settings, logos, VBA macros, and so on.
    ·        Precalculating workbooks
You can precalculate and distribute workbooks with the BEx Broadcaster, which is a Web application you get to form the BEx toolbar. The system generates MS Excel workbooks with historical data. You determine the time for precalculation yourself: You can have workbooks precalculated at a predefined time or they can be precalculated whenever data in the underlying InfoProvider changes. You can have the precalculated workbooks sent by e-mail or you can export them into the Enterprise Portal, where you can make them available to employees within your company.
    Activities
To start the BEx Analyzer, choose Start ® Programs ® SAP Front-end Business Information Warehouse ® SAP Business Explorer Analyzer.
You can also access the BEx Analyzer via SAP Easy Access ® SAP Business Information Warehouse ® SAP Menu ® Business Explorer ® Analyzer or in the Business Explorer Browser using the Business Explorer Analyzer symbol in the menu bar.
Hope this will solve your issu

  • How do you control the Subject Line in emails sent from RS_PREC_PLAN?

We are using the program RS_PREC_PLAN to broadcast precalculated workbooks from a process chain.  We have entered values for each parameter (i.e. Precalc server, workbook, web template, and email addresses) and saved as a variant.
However, each time the program is called from the process chain the email recipient gets an email with "Test" as the subject line.  Is there any way to control what is displayed in the subject line of the email?
    Thanks,
    Brad

    Brad,
Looks like the subject is hardcoded...
you can find the same in
      Form  sent_mail
    where there is :
    l_r_parameter->add( i_id    = 'DESCRIPTION'
                          i_value = 'Test'(001) ).
what you could do is create a copy of the same program and look at passing the subject to the program...

    Regards,
    Chrigu

    Hello All,
When you have an issue with a single workbook, try to open and re-save this workbook.
This is probably happens with Chrigu. Someone opened the workbook and save again.
    Also, another tip.
Open BEx Analyzer -> Click on "Global Settings".
Check the option "Repair workbook while execution" -> click "Ok"
    Execute and save the workbook.
This should solve issues with a single workbook.
