Predictive text on standard English keyboard disabled

When I install third-party keyboards, the predictive-text option for the standard English keyboard is disabled and not able to be re-enabled - it looks fine under settings, but on the globe pop-up, the switch is off and incapable of being enabled.

It did indeed come with predictive text. To make sure you have it, go to Options > Keyboard. The fourth entry down should be "Show predictions and suggestions" and it should be on.
Do you see that, or not?

Predictive text non-English characters to be made optional
The story is: while using predictive text for non-English languages (Polish in my case) the dictionary words are grammar correct which include special characters like: ą,ę,ć,ś,ż,ź,ó,ł etc. For texting (SMS) operators count these as 3 characters making a message much longer than it looks. Therefore I can tell you no one uses these characters while texting and people use EN only characters instead a,e,c,s,z,o,l... which makes using the predictive text useless for eg Polish language.
I'd like to have an option to switch using these non-en chars off for predicting text, which is grammatically not correct but in real life that's how people type.
So basically if there's an option to disable lang specific characters I would be getting an example suggestion of 'Prosze' instead of grammatically correct 'Proszę'. 'Prosze' is a 6 character word, 'Proszę' is a 5+3=8 character word. Considering a single SMS message a 300 chars, than it really makes a difference.
Simple solution would be to replace every char ą with a, ć with c, ó with o etc... in each word suggested for the ones who have this option enabled.

You can write a code in PAI of main screen. there by using loop at screen you can make that field editable or disabled.
Code sample:

Disabling Predictive TEXT feature

Is there a way of disabling thepredictive text when typing? It's really annoying when the phone chhoses what you want to write, or rather misprexicts your intended word, causing you to waste time deleting and retyping.
Sometimes the text window obstructs view of the text you want to copy! Its really a bore and I need to know how its disabled!

Yes go into Options,(wrench) and go to either typing or keyboard and untik predictive text.

N73 English Predictive Text

Hey guys,
I seem to be having problems getting english predictive text to work. Chinese seems to work fine but when I switch to english all I get is nonsense suggestions. I don't even get a drop down of suggested words it just automatically puts in the suggested nonsense for me. Adding words to the dictionary doesn't seem to take either. For example I'll hit the number 2 on my phone for the letter b but the phone will first put the letter a (which is correct) but then when I hit 2 again it will automatically put in "cc" instead of going to the letter b. It's really frustrating me and I've come to love nokia predictive text until now. Please help.
PS: I did buy the phone in asia if that makes any difference and everything else in the phone is in english menu but predictive text is acting really wonky! I'm at my wits end on this. Please, please someone help.

Select the predictive text to OFF and then it will no annoy you.
Select: MEENU>TOOLS>PHONE>GENERAL> THERE YOU WILL FIND PREDICTIVE TEXT> HERE YOU SELECT *OFF*
It will work properly then.No more annoying auto selection of texts.

Losing predictive text and error correction on keyboard

A strange thing happened to me and I am wondering if others have experienced this.
I was in the middle.of typing a message and the predictive text/spelling check, suddenly, went away. The keyboard was still there but without these options. Tried restarting the app but no joy. Tried other apps and found the same thing . Finally, rebooted and it came back.
Any thoughts?

Predictive text keyboard option is greyed out

I have turned on/off all keyboard and spelling options in Settings. Restore and setup as new? Keeping finders crozzed.

Just restored and setup as new. Your advice is correct, tapping on the Keyboard icon at the bottom right enabled the predictive text keyboard.

Disabling predictive text function

Hi, I just bought a new laptop and downloaded the latest Firefox v 4.
How do you disable the predictive text function (?) ... so that I am not typing words in the search bars and then what I typed historically comes up as a suggestion?
I would rather have nothing other than just what I want to type.

For the location bar choose "Nothing":

Predictive Text Removal

Hi,
I am using Nokia Lumia 710 and I have issues on typing, everytime i try to type something and the predictive text changes it, can this be deisabled or closed. Havnet found any option for the same yet.
Please help.
I actually type my mother tongue in english alphabets and most of the time it auto changes it. i have to backspace it and then type again ..

Settings > Keyboard > Typing Settings > Press where it says "English" > Disable the top two options.

Limited predictive text experience

Hi,
I bought my Z3 yesterday and am having an interesting predictive text experience when messaging. I have the language set to English (Australia), but when I type, the predictive text inserts only words which I have used on my phone in the past (past 24 hours). For example, if I type 'How', It auto corrects to 'Think' as this is a word I've used.
I can't imagine this is supposed to happen, that the phone needs to learn all my words before I can use them? I also don't want to disable my predictive text, I just want it to recognise all English words when correcting! I'm sure I've missed something in setting up - please help.

How can i set predictive text to a foreign language

I'm new to apple and iPhones. I've got everything setup in English but I frequently want to send text and/or email messages in French. When I do this predictive text jumps in and changes things to what it thinks I want in English. e.g. if I type tous it predicts I want toys and inserts it accordingly. How can I set predictive text to a foreign language.
(p.s. my wife's iPad works fine as it has a button to press for alternative language but I don't see anything similar for iPhone)

Add the French keyboard.
Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add > French

Predictive texting ends mysteriously

Predictive texting capability has ended 2x mysteriously. The setting for predictive texting is ON, however the predictive texting capability disappears and texting behaves the old way without predictive texting enabled. When I go to settings==>general==>keyboards, the 'predictive' IS enabled, however the predictive functionality mysteriously becomes disabled. I had to slide the predictive setting to off and then on again to re-enable this. Has anyone else experienced this problem similarly? It's happened 2x without any explanation.

You can't turn it off, but if you tap the (x) next to the suggestions, after 3 or so times, it will no longer make that suggestion.
I live in a town that has a name derived from a spanish word, and predictive text suggested an instrument name to replace it. After a few times of tapping the (x) next to the suggestion, it no longer offers that suggestion.

I had an iPhone 4S upgraded to iOS 8.1 and my predictive typing was and still is fine! Then i bought an iPhone 5S and the predictive typing is not anymore the same. When i had the 4S i saw something about learning the way you're writing (other non-supported language/dictionary) , looking up your mail and social networks to memorize the words you need in your own language and it's actually still working on 4S , but not on the 5S. Is there any option to do on 5S to have the same predictive words i have on 4S. For example: The keyboard is English , but i am writing in Bulgarian. I am starting to write a word and predictive shows me the word correctly or in the way i had written it before or in jargon , still works the predictive for english words. It shows me only on the iPhone 4S , not on the 5S.
Please Help!...

Is there a way to add/delete words from the predictive text ?

Is there a way to add/delete words from the predictive text options that my iPhone is giving me? I'm using an iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.
There are specific words that are popping up in the area right above the keyboard where it displays 3 word suggestions to choose from. This area seems to suggest words that I have typed before, I'd like to remove these words. Default seems to select the word in the center and when I'm typing fast on occasion it will recommend and select words that I don't need to use.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank youI would suggest upgrading to a supported version of the database. 9i has been unsupported for many many years now.
And to answer your question... to the best of my knowledge, there is no workaround. It works as it works.

Suggestions - predictive text and text entry

I don't know if this forum is intended for suggestions but here are a couple anyway.
1. Because email and sms text do not operate in landscape mode the keyboard is very small. This leads to a large number of text entry errors compared to ther devices I have used. The screen sensitivity is excellent so this is ont a problem with using a touch device. Allowing landscape data entry would go a long wawy to solving this problem - the keyboard when used with safari in landscape mode is a lot better (perhaps 10% of the missed keys). An alternative which would be better for single handed use would be to ditch the qwerty layout and have a key pad that runs to 4 or 5 rows of keys instead of 3. In most cases it is only neccesary to see a single line of text entry so there is plenty of screen re-estate to do this.
2. The predictive text feature on the iPhone is very poor. This is due to a fundamental error in its design. The current implementation assumes that the current word typed is complete but may be misspelled. To be more useful the feature needs to assume that the characters typed are correct and suggest complete words that start with the fragment available. The predictive text in Windows mobile is infinately better that that of the iPhone (and one of the few features I miss from my old phone!).
