PreE7 Produced DVD with Projection

I am using Premeire Elements 7 to produce a video to DVD/NTSC/Standard format for purposes of playing from a DVD player with Video output to a projector with a 4:3 default aspect ratio (Viewsonic model # PJ501 to be precise).
My tests of the process thus far are give a strange affect to the photos when projected and I'm wondering if this is just an anomaly of the projector or if I need to do something else with my PreE7 settings, or possibly my still photos, before creating my video output.  The strange affect is this, the photos have a vertical, striped affect to them (red and yellow).  This only happens when I display using the projector, if I play to a television or to my computer, the images look fine.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,

When you use photos in a video, it's always best to deinterlace them.
To do this, right-click on each photo on your timeline and select Field Options and check the Flicker Removal option.
I've done as you indicated and created another test DVD but have the same results; the images show with vertical lines of red and yellow.  I was reading the Help Doc that comes on the CD with PreE7 and the portion that covers deinterlacing and flicker removal mentions that these options fix problems that cause horizontal lines, not the vertical ones I am seeing (I'm even seeing it on the Menu screen which was from one of the Disc Menu scenes that come with PreE7).
I'm thinking that, since my DVD is displaying fine when I send to a TV or to my Computer but shows the vertical lines only when I project the images with the Viewsonic projector, the problem must lie in the projection itself.
If anyone has any experiences with the use of a projector to display their videos and might have any information for me, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,

  • Adobe Encore CS5.1 producing DVDs with flickering video

Hey all, new to the forums but been using Adobe software for a couple of years now.
I've got Encore CS5.1 as part of the Adobe Master Collection CS5.5, and recently I've been using it to burn DVD videos.
I made a video in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 a few weeks ago and rendered it as an mp4 file in h.264 HDTV 24fps (video recorded with my Nikon D3200 D-SLR). I then imported the mp4 file into Encore as an asset (I didn't use Dynamic Link to insert the prproj file into Encore) and burned it onto a 4.7GB DVD (no menus or anything, just a simple DVD) and it looked absolutely fine on both my PC and on the TV and the recipient of the DVD was very happy with the result. The video was 28 minutes long and 6.2GB in size.
Recently I have been making more videos in Premiere Pro CS5.5 and attempting to burn them onto DVDs using Encore CS5.1, but I've not been having so much luck.
Whenever I create a DVD with Encore, the video playback is always a bit 'flickery' no matter how I import the video into Encore (have tried using both Dynamic Link and importing the mp4 file as an asset - both result in the same problem). The video playback results in flickering lines and it's really distracting. Again, I am rendering in mp4 h.264 HDTV 24fps and burning onto 4.7GB DVDs. If I watch the video in Encore on the Monitor, it also looks a bit flickery with lines showing. The video I am trying to burn onto a DVD is 25 minutes long and 4GB (but Encore transcodes it so it's just over 1GB in size I think).
I am also trying to burn another video onto a DVD which again is rendered in h.264 but is 48 minutes and 11GB in size (Encore transcodes it so it's about 2.5GB) and the same thing happens: flickery lines which is really distracting.
I did briefly have a trial version of CS6 installed and I rendered the video again in Premiere Pro CS6 and tried burning to a DVD using Encore CS6, but still got the same results. I don't have CS6 now, I installed it purely to see if CS5.5 was the problem.
I don't understand why the first video I burned to DVD using Encore was perfect and now it seems to be giving me flickery video once it's burned to a DVD whenever I use it.
I have updated it to version 5.1.0.342 which at the time of writing is the latesrt version of CS5.1.
If anybody out there could help me that would be great, thanks!

Still flickering on Encore even when rendered in MPEG-2 DVD in Pemiere Pro CS5.5. Looks perfect in Premiere Pro.
    Any other ideas?
EDIT: Was looking for Google for people with similar problems to me and I came across this http://forums.adobe.com/message/3959757?tstart=0
I am currently re-rendering the video in PAL DV Widescreen MPEG-2 DVD and using maximum render quality.

  • How to burn DVD with project from iMovie ?

Last year I had made several iMovie projects on a macbook pro. I was unable to burn them to a dvd so I ended up transfering them to a Windows computer and using ImgBurn and I successfully made playable DVDs.
I know have a Mac with Yosemite and I just finished a iMovie project. I need to burn it to a playable DVD. I've spent hours researching and trying to find a way. I have Video_TS and Audio_TS files, an iso file, and a mpg file. Surely, if you are able to create a "movie" there must be an easy way to burn it to a DVD?
If a Superdrive is able to burn DVD's shouldn't there be an option somewhere?
    I have iMovie 10.0.6
    Yosemite 10.10.1
    I do not have iDVD

I solved my own problem. After two full days of trying and having multiple videos files (iso, mp4, mpg,video_ts, audio_ts,etc) I was finally able to burn a playable DVD! I ended up using miDVD to burn it. I first exported my iMovie project as a file and opened up the Movies file and dropped it in there. From there it showed up in the miDVD program and it was super simple to get it burned to a dvd that works in dvd players and on my mac.

  • I produced a film in iMovie and send it to iDVD to make a DVD with a theme. When everything was ready it starts at my mac-computer. But at the TV the theme always comes at the end of the film not at the beginning. What have I to change, what´s wrong?

I produced a film in imovie and send it to idvd to make a dvd with a theme. After finishing all the dvd starts in my mac-computer and first comes the theme and then the film.
But when I start it with a dvd-recorder at tv first the film comes an at the end of the film the theme comes. What did I wrong? Where is my mistake?

    Hi
    A. Do not Use - Share to iDVD - in any iMovie version at all !
    B. Start a BRAND NEW iDVD project
    C. in iMovie'08 to 11 -  Share to Media Browser and as LARGE - NOT HD or other resolution as quality will be even worse
    - in iMovie HD6 - just close it and from within iDVD import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it)
    - FinalCut - Export as QuickTime Movie - NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION - AT ALL !
    D. When in iDVD - see to that in the Lay-out menu (when it looks like a box-plott) there ARE NOTHING in the upper left most box (Auto Start box). As this overruns any Menu.
    E. Save as a DiskImage - TEST this first - befor burning any DVDs

  • How to create a DVD with multiple video projects

I want to burn a DVD with several short video projects so that it will run without stopping in between.

    Hi
*Play all resp one chapter at a time*
    Play All Button
    1. There are NO - Play All - button in any version of iDVD
    2. It can be faked in several ways
    • Easies and most fault proof way is to make a doublet movie containing All and with
Chapters set to match. It will take up x2 space but is easy to understand and produce.
    • It's said that one can put all movies into a Photo/SlideShow and this will also
give the function of a Play All button - Never tested though.
    • Using another program to do this eg. Roxio Toast™ where there ia a Play All button option.
    Mike Evangelist1
You might be able to get close to what you want by using a slideshow in iDVD. (It's not widely known, but you can put videos in a slideshow.) If you set the slide duration to manual, playback will pause after each movie/slide, and you can continue with the 'next' button.

  • How to make project across two DVDs with one DVD menu

    Hi!
I’m working on a large project (3 hours of video with about 10 chapters, over 50 pictures in a playlist, and special feature chapter) and wondering is it possible to make an project across 2 or more DVDs, but to have menu only on first one? I’d like to make an project that comes with menu only on first DVD and when you click on e.g. “special features” button, then you get the message “please insert DVD 2″
Is it possible and how to make something like that?
    Thank you!

I would have EACH DVD begin with a menu. Somebody will insert DVD 2 first no matter how you label things.
Yes, you are right! People just don't want to read, but I'm making an animated menu in AE and it'll take about 300MB (rendered in .mpg). That is what I want to avoid on other DVDs to save some space. You just gave me an idea so I'll make some small menu for other one or two DVDs with just a few informations about what DVD is inserted and what DVD you need to insert if you want to watch something else from that project. Thank you!
I just have to learn better Encore and its capabilities and limitations (if I have time )

  • Burn multiple imovie projects to one dvd with menu

How do i burn multiple Imovie projects to one dvd with roxio toast 10? Can i add all of the projects or do i need to export them as a quicktime movie first or something?

You can share the first movie from iMovie, but all the others will need to be exported from iMovie as movies and dragged into the iMovie project.

  • I made a DVD with photo's and music. On my Powerbook G4 he plays perfect. But after burning the project on my LaCie d2 lightscribe and show the project on my TV than after 10 min. the music stops for a few seconds.

I made a DVD with photo's and music. On my Powerbook G4 he plays perfect. But after burning the project on my LaCie d2 lightscribe and showing the project on my TV than: after 10 min. the music stops for a few seconds. On the screen of the DVD-player I can see that after the word 'play' the clock starts again with counting the time. I tried everything: * burning slow. * all programs stopped, except iDVD. * all other apparature uncoupled. Is this a problem of my iDVD-program or my LaCie burner?

mishmumken is correct about the 99 slides.  There's an 99 chapter limit in each slideshow for DVDs and each photo is considered a chapter.  iDVD gets around that by renaming slide 100 back to 1 and goes on.
The pause can be minimized (but not eliminated) by burning to disk at the slowest speed available: usually 4x or 2x.  Save the project to disk (File ➙ Save to Disk menu option) and play the disk image with DVD player to check out the transition at 99 and 198.  Then burn the disk image to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed possible.  Also use top quality media: Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Best FCE Project Settings to make widescreen DVD with iDVD?

I need to make DVDs with lots of short clips stitched together into a longish movie. I've been using iDVD to burn the DVDs (because it's free and I know how to use it). (NTSC TV, not PAL)
The clips are mostly still pictures animated with either FCE (using the ImageFlow plugins) or PulpMotion Advanced. Sometimes they contain movie clips shot with whatever camera one of my colleagues has with them.
I'm wondering what are the best project settings to use with FCE to generate a video file that I can drag into iDVD and have rendered as a widescreen video? As a Bear of Very Little Brain I'm confused by all the options (dimensions, frame rate, codec, etc).
I tried this weekend using H.264 codec, 1280 x 720 29.97 frame rate, 24 key frames, and the video took 20 hours to output from FCE, then another 3 hours for iDVD to encode for the DVD. (2.66 GHz Quad-Core MacPro with 10 GB RAM and 200+ GB free on HD, if it makes a difference.) Clearly there must be settings that are more efficient!

Mostly my input files are still pictures, usually JPEGs. I bought the ImageFlow plugins which will animate them in different ways. For example, I took the pictures of everyone at my school and animated them into a 30 minute sequence of swooshing images with a video matte over a green caustic video generator.
Sometimes I use a program called PulpMotion to make a different animation, but I have a lot of choices for exporting a QuickTime file from that program, so I could set that to match whatever's best for FCE.
Sometimes I'll use iMovie 09 to make a clip from still images (for the automatic animations), but again I have a lot of choices for exporting that clip and bringing it into FCE.

  • Making a DVD with 3 iMovie projects

I am fairly new at making a DVD. I have iMovie 9.0.4 and am on a Mac OS X version 10.6.8.
My question is: I would like to make a DVD with 3 chapters.
Chapter #1 would be an iMovie project (13 minutes)
Chapter #2 would be an iMovie project ( 8 minutes)
Chapter #3 would be an iMovie project (14 minutes)
I have all three of the movie projects completed.
At this time they are all seperate projects in iMovie.
They are the only projects that I have in imovie.
I hope to combine all three projects on one DVD and provide the DVD to classmates for a 50 year reunion.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Good or bad info. To be honest - I never use the SlideShow way - but it's well described in this forum and I tested it to be sure that it works. Problem I came up on was
    • Black framing - One must select to not scale photos in SlideShow
    • Bad sound - as I had to high level it resulted in severe distortion - Lowering it helped
So the problems can be handled - but in reality I rather do
    • One movie containing all parts and Chapter Marks set to match. This too has a built in problem as one can not set Chapter Marks in transitions or within 2 sec from them (OR IN VERY BEGINNING OF MOVIE). But there is a way around this too.
    • Export the combined movie as Full Quality QuickTime .mov
    • Import this QT.mov and now You can set the Chapter Marks (except at very beginning = no need to do this - iDVD does this by it self)
And then I add each Chapter as a free movie too
This works greatly - BUT the Con in this case is that it takes x2 space on DVD. For material less than 60 min this is no problem - but for longer movies one has to be even more elaborate to fix it.
    Good Luck !

  • How can I combine two separate video projects onto one DVD with a common menu?

In PE 3 I have a finished video project and a separate slideshow that I want to include together on the same DVD with a common menu. I would like the slide show to be accessible from the main menu of the DVD, something like: "Play Movie" and "Play Slideshow". How do I do it?

  • Convert DVD HD Project to DVD SP (clarification)

I am aware that the subject of this post has been addressed elsewhere in the various forums numerous times; for those who are searching for the answer and come upon this post first, here is a summary of my understanding of things to avoid further searching:
In order to burn a DVD SP project, you must create a new project with your project settings set to DVD SP by default. You can not burn from HD to SP, but you can burn from SP to HD. There is no option in DVD Studio Pro to convert your project from HD to SP, so scratch it and start over.
This brings me to my question; is there any way to bring the basic menu/link structure and such from your HD project (which you foolishly created thinking a basic conversion wouldn't be beyond this software suite) into your fresh project. I haven't been able to get two projects open at the same time, copy and paste from one project to another, or anything to help me reference the menu structure to work. (I can look at the produced HD DVD, but, as we all know, it's easy to lose track of links looking at an end product)
So far, DVD SP has been an extremely disappointing program to me; after struggling with it for a great many hours to get features I want implemented (only to find with research later that the implementation of those features is either broken, or missing), I now find I'll have to start the project over from scratch. I certainly hope they include a conversion feature in future releases.. this is a bit ridiculous.
Anyway, I'm quite frustrated, but thanks for any help which anyone may offer.

As an update, I have located the export->'Item Description' feature which exports a plain text description of the DVD project.
    I changed the entry:
    <key>DVDStandardVersion</key>
    <string>HD</string>
    To
    <key>DVDStandardVersion</key>
    <string>SD</string>
.. now I can open this file with DVD Studio Pro, and I have something similar to my project, but in SD. (I expect some things may be broken by the SD/HD conversion, but those should be quickly ironed out.)

  • Converting HD to SD to burn a DVD with iDVD

    Hello,
I bought myself an HD-camera with a Hard Disk (Sony HDR-XR500E). The native format is AVCHD.
When I transfer the video to my iMac (Intel Core Duo 2,16GHz) I can see the video in my Final Cut Express where the video is transcoded in Apple Intermediate Codec AIC format.
The editing works fine. The pictures are sharp and there are no visible artefacts.
I can export the timeline to Quicktime Movie, and the result is a rather big .mov file.
When I playback this file it appears automatically in a FCExpress window, and I have no problem playing the file.
When I use that .mov file to create a DVD with iDVD the there is a problem. When there is amore than a little bit of movement in the picture, the vertical transitions become distorted (jagged). It looks like I see an interlaced picture where both frames are displaced a little bit. This effect is very good visible when I stop the movie playing.
I see the same effect when I playback the same .mov file in the Quicktime player.
    What am I doing wrong?
I see no place where I can manipulate settings in iDVD or Quicktime.
It is strange that I don’t see this problem when I export my timeline using Quicktime Conversion to create a file for the internet (eg Broadband high).
Who can give me a hint?
    Thx

    Hello Tom,
Sorry for the late reply but the last few days I had other things to my mind.
In the meantime I realise why I was confused, … and you gave me the understanding or the missing link to understand what was happening.
My original problem was burning a HD project I made in FCE on a DVD in SD.
    I thought that:
    1. FCE made an export in a HD format, … and this is right.
    2. iDVD could only accept a movie file in SD, … and this was wrong.
That’s why I was looking for a method to convert my HD-movie in an SD-movie to feed iDVD.
    So my problem is solved.
Bringing a HD movie from FCE to iDVD is very simple: It’s the same as bringing a SD movie to iDVD. iDVD recognizes an HD movie, and does the conversion to SD automatically. So my problem is solved. I produced a DVD starting from my HD movie and it looks as good as the movies I made in the past with my old DV-camera.
It’s a pity I couldn’t find the workflow, to turn a HD movie made by FCE into a SD movie on a DVD using iDVD, in the documentation of FCE or iDVD.
    Why was I confused?
When I was looking at the playback in the canvas window I saw rather good pictures (no artefacts).
When I was looking at the exported movie with my QT player I saw a lot of interlacing artefacts. That’s why I thought there was something wrong with the coding of the exported video, … but it wasn’t.
Your explanation about looking at the canvas window in 100%, and the fact that viewing at any other than 100% was showing a reduced resolution (with interpolation, using only one field) made me understanding the problem.
I did a few tests to verify my thinking. In FCE I used de-interlacing on the video. In the canvas I saw a rather good picture nearly the same as the original (without de-interlacing). When I exported that de-interlaced video and viewed this file in QuickTime, the artefacts were gone.
So, my conclusion is: Don’t use QuickTime to control an exported movie from FCE, because QT is using an interpolating scheme with both fields. The result is absolutely bad especially when there are fast moving objects in the movie.
Tom, thanks again for your help.
I was just wondering what kind of education you have in video, because you seems to know what you are talking about.

I want to sell my project dvd with music from itune on it. How do i go about get the release to have the music legallaly on there with no copyright issues down the road. Thanks in advance.

There are two ways in the commercial end.
The one I use is http://www.royaltyfreemusic.com/ whereby I pay for the CD (30$-$100) and I am permitted to use them in any DVD production without added fees. I believe with Freeplay you can download the music for near nothing but must pay a fee for every 50 copies you produce.
