Preference Problem - Audio HiJack

Hope someone can help.....I downloaded Audio HiJack (demo) to record some LP's as MP3's and to record some concert DVD's to itunes. When I installed the software, the DVD player would no longer work. I got an error message "supported disc not available". Once I unistalled the software, it worked fine.
Is there something that has to be tweaked in the software to have both applications work?
Thanks, Bill

Did you try adding DVD Player and iDVD to the Master Exclude List (System Preferences)? I can't remember if "Application Enhancer" is downloaded with the free version or not, but this is an option (exclude) available with AH Pro.

  • Audio Hijack content not dropping into iTunes 7

Since upgrading to iTunes 7, my Audio Hijack recordings don't drop in or at least I can't find them.

I have been having the same problem and I have been searching the web for answers FOR A LONG TIME. Surprisingly AHP support was no help and told me to contact Apple. All they offered me was the following, which I had already tried:
"Audio Hijack Pro can be set to send recordings to iTunes. With version 7, iTunes introduced a new sub-library system for sorting files. Bookmarkable MP3 files and Bookmarkable AAC files are now sorted into the Podcasts and Audiobooks sub-libraries, respectively.
    Bookmarkable MP3 Files
Bookmarkable MP3 files are sorted into the Podcasts section by iTunes. If this sub-library is not visible, select "Preferences" in the "iTunes" menu. In the "General" section of preferences, check the box to enable the Podcasts library. Click OK, and you should be able to select the Podcasts library to see your bookmarkable MP3 recordings.
    Bookmarkable AAC Files
Bookmarkable AAC files are sorted into the Audiobooks section by iTunes. If this sub-library is not visible, select "Preferences" in the "iTunes" menu. In the "General" section of preferences, check the box to enable the Audiobooks library. Click OK, and you should be able to select the Audiobooks library to see your bookmarkable AAC recordings."
When I drop an Audio Hijack Pro created MP3 into iTunes 7, nothing happens, the files do not show up and I am unable to play them. Curiously, they do appear in my Podcast folder in my itunes music. I love AHP, but this is devasting, just months after converting close to 1,000 vinyl released only tracks to MP3s.
Please, if there is a fix, enlighten me!

  • Audio Hijack & Screensaver(s) [Not Working]

I am having a problem with Audio-Hijack PRO & my screensaver, and, I am hoping maybe someone here has come across this.
If I have a recording in Audio Hijack scheduled to go off at 3:00am, it has no problem bringing the monitor out of sleep, however, the screensaver or monitor sleep never kicks back in, and, I am a bit worried that this may do damage to my monitor.
Has anyone ever come a across any problems like this with audio-hijack ?
Another thing that happens is, if I start a manual record of the sound of the system, the screensaver never kicks in, and, the monitor never goes back to sleep.
This is really becoming frustrating, and, i am hoping I can get some answers here. if not, i appreciate you taking the time to read this.
Is there a setting in MAC OS X that you can set so programs running will still allow screensavers?

    Hi,
Did you burn a set of the HP Recovery Disks?  You mentioned that the reformat failed. Is that correct? Did you try a full HP Recovery?  If not, then backup your data to external media.  Boot up to the HP Blue screen and first try diagnostics and see how that goes.  If that is successful, then boot again up to the HP blue screen and try Recovery.
If you don't have a set of the HP Recovery Disks and the Recovery process fails from the HP blue screen then you need to order a set of the HP Recovery Disks from HP. HP Recovery Disks.

  • Please help me with Audio Hijack Pro!!!!

Guys, I am really trying to get my podcast back up and running, but I ran into a weird problem with Audio Hijack not too long ago. I have gotten this to work many times before, so this is nothing new. When I use AHP to hijack my microphones, and then use Garageband to record, after 10 min, I get static on one of my mics. Now, I have purchased this product, so it is totally legit, and I know that the trial gives you static after 10 min, but I have my code and the program took it fine. I have contacted AHP, but they basically had me delete a pref file and then reinstall it. It did not work. Can you think of any other ideas that I can try??? I really want to get this back up and running and it takes AHP a long time to get back to me. PLEASE HELP!
    Thank you!

I forgot to mention the reason I am using Audio Hijack pro is because i am using 2 usb mics.

  • Ways to record radio broadcasts using Audio Hijack Pro

If I download Audio Hijack Pro what is the simplest and most efficient way to download radio broadcasts ?
I have experimented using Garageband and my radio tuner with an audio cable connected to the 'audio-in' port without success.

I'm late to this discussion because I've had no problems recording my weekly 2-hour jazz show by inputting my Onkyo tune to my 2013 iMac vs. USB (Apple removed the audio-in jack--darn it).  I recorded them in Sound Studio (which unlike Toast has easily editable audio waves--and for digitizing LPs, I found I could be more accurate and achieve faster results that with Spin Doctor, which is bundled with Toast). I had no trouble.  That is, until now.  My recordings are suddenly all static.  I can hear my voice in the background but the recording is unusable for all practical purposes.
I can only infer that the problem may stem from my Onkyo receiver transmitting a regular FM signal (it's not an HD receiver).  The station that I broadcast from is HD (like many other public radio stations), so the main channel (#1) along with #2 and #3 are transmitting a high def signal, which will not have static (it's all or nothing, the signal is clear or it's non-existent).
Therefore, it appears I need a program like AHP to record the program direct from our station's internet site.  (I'm not clear if internet radio and HD radio are the same thing.  HD radio, of course, proved a bust, but internet audio seems no longer to provoke the little bit of complaint.  (10 years ago it was like 2 dixiecups communicating with a string.  A joke when compared to the best vinyl.  But now the AIFF and Apple Lossless files appear to meet the approval of audiophiles.)
I'm wondering if AHP is still the program of choice for recording sounds from my internet radio station (My Roxio Toast claims to have the capability, but it's proven highly buggy and undependable.)  Or would I be better advised to look for an external HD radio/tuner with audio out to go to my computer.  (Possibly a tall order these days with no one making HD radios.)

  • Audio Hijack Pro--What Did I Do?

Audio Hijack Pro used to work very well, until I used it to enhance the sound on my MacBook Pro (latest Lion OSX). One day, it started distoring everything played through it. Now, when I want to just get the audio off a video of guitar and banjo lessons to play on my iPod, the recordings are terribly distorted. Recordings and playback from all sources through Audio Hijack Pro--Itunes, Safari, Quicktime, etc.--are severely distorted with high frequency noise and reverb. It's as if the Effects are on, but they are not.
I am not very familiar with audio settings, and have Soundflower 2ch as the input device (used with IShowU). I tried removing and re-installing it twice. I changed to Default Input, etc., etc.
I have no idea why this program was working and is now totally useless. I'm asking for help. Somewhere, somehow, I changed a setting or settings, and now I can't make it work. There have been a couple of Apple software updates that may have something to do with this...
Any advice I can get will be greatly appreciated.
    Christine

Yes. I own it. I solved the problem. I had a trial version of another sound enhancement program called WOW. I removed it and the problem is solved. It was obviously running in the background even though I thought I had uninstalled it.
    All is well now.
    Thanks!

  • M-Audio Fast Track/Audio Hijack Skype Recording Pr...

    Hey folks!
Want to throw my IMAC out the window right now so I figured it was time to ask for help.
I'm using an M-Audio Fast Track. I use it to record my regular Podcasts through Garageband and have zero problems.
However, when I try to record interviews via Skype using tools like Call Recorder/Audio Hijack etc... both the recordings and the person on the other end only hear me on one side of the headphone/speakers. In other words not in stereo. Again, I get stereo just fine when using Garageband but for interview, not so much.
    What am I missing?
I've configured Mac settings to include Fast Track as well as Skype preferecnes.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,

  • Audio Hijack not Detecting Any Audio

OK, I know there are plenty of posts on various forums regarding how to record audio from your Mac, but that's not exactly what I'm looking for. I have been using Audio Hijack to record from the BBC iPlayer for some years now on my old G3 iMac, just stuff I don't get the time to listen to live or like to keep for myself. Anyways, I recently bought myself a new (to me) iMac G4 and now when I hit 'Hijack' on AJPro, it won't detect any audio. I have a feeling this is something to do with my system input but can't for the life of me work it out, or find anyone else online suffering from the same problem. Any help would be massively appreciated, particularly as the excellent (although 6 hours long) BBC dramatisation of 'Titus Groan' comes offline in three days! ;o)
For what it's worth I'm using an older version of AJPro, 2.5.6

Not sure, but besides the Sound Pref Pane, Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • Recording FaceTime with Audio Hijack 3

    Hi
I'm trying to record a FaceTime conversation using the full licensed version of Audio Hijack 3 on my MacBook Air. I'm using FaceTime as an input and also my mic as an input. I hear myself clearly and there is no echo. But the FaceTime caller, well, that's either distorted or there is an echo. I've turned off the recorder for my mic because that was making things worse. What should I do? I'm stumped. Thank you
    E

If you look in System Preferences (under the Apple menu) in the Sound pane, under the Input tab, what device is selected? If you make a noise do you see the Input level change?
    Best of luck.

  • Audio Hijack pro quicktime player audio sync issue

I am trying to record youtube videos using quicktime player (screen recording the game) and Audio Hijack Pro (recording the game audio and skype audio). The problem is, when I edit the video, the comentary on a cirtain event very gradually gets further and further from the event in the screen recording. Is there any solution for this? If so please tell me. Thanks.

Yes. I own it. I solved the problem. I had a trial version of another sound enhancement program called WOW. I removed it and the problem is solved. It was obviously running in the background even though I thought I had uninstalled it.

  • Audio HiJack and AU plugins/Turntablist

With help from you guys, I've been trying to use the "Turntablist" plug-in to create a slow start turntable effect. I'm trying to record the effect in Audio Hijack ( I have the free version),. so I can bring it back in to LogicExpress and slice and dice it into my mix. The problem is, when AudioHijack restarts LogicExpress my AU plug-ins dissapear and are un- available. Do I need the Pro version? Is there another/better way I can get audio from Turntablist into a track of Logic? Thanks everyone, this forum has been awesome for improving my chops in Logic- SeanE.Man

Well, I threw down for AudioHijack Pro, figuring I love the product, so at least I'm supporting RogueAmoeba. I still can't seem to Hijack the system audio, even though it IS an option in their menu. Not sure why. Thankfully, I was able to hijack Logic and keep all my AU plugins working. I think the key was to enable the "instant hijack" feature that requires another download. For the record, I did install the soundFlower app. that was supposed to let me hijack system audio, to no effect. I also dissabled my interface to avoid confusion with system audio. I think I need to dig a bit into their support at RogueAmoeba. I still don't feel ripped off though, because I eventually got the effect I wanted of a turntable slowing down, it just took three days and a pund of flesh. -Sean

  • MBP, Leopard, & Audio Hijack Pro Software

    Hi:
I have updated several audio programs (Airfoil, Sound Grinder, Fission) to work with OS 10.5 because thats what came installed on my new MBP.
    These updated programs work well.
However, the updated version of Audio Hijack Pro will not open properly....an error dialogue box keeps appearing.
At this time, I'm working with technical support at rogue ameoba to fix the issue, but am wondering if anyone else has experienced problems similar to this, and if so, have they come up with a fix.
    Thanks very much,
    Michael Stryker

    Hi:
In case anyone is interested, the issue here was using an older version of stuffit expander to open the program from its zip file.
This version of stuffit is OS 9 vintage and cannot properly handle symlinks (I think that was the name of the files). If you encounter this problem, you can force OSX to unzip your program keep all files uncorrupted.

  • Preferences Problem

This one's a little tricky. First some history: After suffering a massive Kernal Panic problem following an upgrade to 10.4.6, I had to reinstall to 10.4.3. I'm afraid to upgrade any further at this time.
Since that time, I believe Safari is responsible writing 40mb files over and over, filling up the Preferences directory until the hard drive is full.
I used OmniDiskSweeper to find the files initially, but now I just go in and delete them.
Along with that Preferences problem, my Accounts and Dock preferences have changed on their own. My computer used to just start up with no login, then suddenly it starting asking for a log in. I started up the other day, and it ran that User Introduction Setup program that occurs when you first start up after installing OSX for the first time. I turned on the computer today, and my doc was back to default.
It also doesn't always start up completely, stalling before the hard drives mount.
I told you it was tricky. Any advice would be great.
    Thanks,
    Jon

    Are you running Norton anything?
There is a bug in their software that will fill a drive up also the 10.4.6 update causes a problem with their software.
So I would just start over with a fresh install of the OS again but follow these steps.
1: Backup files to cd/dvd, not to a drive if possible.
2: C boot off Tiger and select Disk utility, Erase w/Zero option format HFS+
3: Install Tiger, Developers Tools and and bundled apps like iLife, setup and run Software update until clear (download the combo updater instead)
4: Install iLife '06 and update. Repair permissions
5: Install apps from original Tiger ready sources and disks, update, Repair Permissions. Don't install Norton or anything using your admin password.
6: Any external drives or brand new boot drives different from Apple, visit the makers sites and download any driver updates.
7: Trick out your new OS, desktop whatever the way you like it.
8: Get yourself a external drive and a copy of Carbon Copy Cloner, Erase w/Zero the new drive. Clone the pristine boot drive to the external. Follow this:
    http://forums.bombich.com/viewtopic.php?t=2607
9: Set the external as boot and check it out, disconnect it.
    10. Now you can start playing with potentially infected files (metadata exploit), root level installs (Norton is still not advised), OS modifications and whatnot.
If something screws up and you want to start over, first c boot from the Tiger install disk and Erase (Zero only needed once per drive) before booting from the clone and reverse cloning.
I would get a another drive for cloning your current boot drive every week or so just to minimalize downtime if your main hard drive dies.
Using this method of cloning makes resolving any issue a breeze, you just go back to a earlier configuration that you know works and it's pretty easy to guess it's the last thing you did that messed up your system.

  • Music Editing with Audio Hijack or WireTap

WireTap Pro vs. Audio Hijack with Fission for one simple editing task
I have a collection of about 500 pieces of classical music in iTunes and on my iPod and iPhone. Some recordings come with adequate fade-out or decay time at the end of each piece of music (or each movement), some with little or none. I would like to get into my iTunes library and extend the fade-out silence at the end of each piece to a time that better suits my ear -- adding perhaps 10-15 seconds before the next piece of music starts if I have the iPod set for "shuffle." I'm not wanting to edit sound out...I'm just wanting to extend or append a silence. Are either of these program well-suited to that task? Any glitches I should be aware of? If both can do what I need is there any reason to favor one or the other?

I use Fission for such tasks - I've never tried WireTap.
Audio Hijack is for recording internet streams or other sound coming through your computer. It's for making new recordings - you don't need it if all you're doing is the sound editing like you mention.
With Fission, you can fade a song out or in, and do some other sound editing, like splitting a piece into two. It's not for making real minute cuts or real fine tuning, but it works well for simple editing.
For adding silence, it's pretty straightforward - you move the playhead to the end of the track (in your case), and there's a menu item (under the 'clip' menu, I think, that's called "insert silence". Then a counter comes up and you can tell it how much silence you want, and it will add it at the playhead. It does it as a separate track, though, with a 'split' in between. So the next step is in the edit menu, 'remove all splits' (or you can do it manually).
Then you can save the file - if you 'replace' the old file with the new one, you're done, and the new file overwrites the old one. If you give the new track a different name, then you have to navigate to the folder it's in and double-click to import it into iTunes, where it will have the same name (in iTunes) as the old track, even if you saved it under a different name. You can change the metadata for the track before saving, to avoid that.
But I just add silence and then overwrite the old track, so it's gone from iTunes, and the new one is there.
It can be a little tedious to do several tracks (one at a time). No real glitches - sometimes when messing with a track too much, there can be a 'popping' sound added, but it's rare and easily fixed by undoing the editing. You have to undo it one step at a time, but you can undo it every step back to the beginning.
Also, Fission works on all types of sound files without transcoding - Apple Lossless, AIFF, mp3, AAC - it doesn't change the file format (unless you ask it to convert the file).
Maybe somebody will post about WireTap Pro - I assume it can do the same things, but I've never seen the interface.

  • Spotlight Preferences Problems

I have a few of Spotlight Preferences problems:
    1. Search results using COMMAND-F and the Spotlight menu yield different results in that Spotlight menu always shows fewer categories and in a different order, even if Show all is selected.

    3. Some categories show up in the search results, even when unchecked in the Spotlight Preferences.
These problems continued even after trashing the com.apple.spotlight.plist file and restarting.
