Preferences Files Not Loading

Hey fellas, I have a problem. Back in ’06 I beta tested some features of Photoshop CS3 – at least that’s my recollection four years later. The product was temporarily activated and then de-activated and still resides on my PC. I’ve been using CS2 since, well, since it came out and I’m running XP. So the issue is this…
My electricity failed and CS2 shut down. When I reloaded CS2, all of my preferences were gone – brushes, pallets, workspace, etc. I loaded my saved workspace and that set my workspace up as I like. However, my actions palette is blank.
I have diligently kept copies of my Adobe Photoshop CS2 Prefs.psp in safe places, knowing full well, that in the event of a disaster, I can recover the whole shee-bang. At least that’s the way it used to work.
Now however, my PSP files will only load with CS3, which of course, tells me the license is expired. I cannot force CS2 to open the PSP files – I’ve done file associations, properties, etc. They still won’t load with CS2 – if I drag and drop the PSP file onto CS2, I receive an error dialog telling me that it isn’t the right type of file.
So… I need to recover my saved preferences files, but they’re associated with CS3. Can anyone help?

What operating system are you running?
I ask because Vista's UAC redirects disk accesses to certain folders to another place on the hard drive (i.e., from a system-wide area to a user-specific area). Window 7's UAC is a little less aggressive, but it also does some of the same.
Thus the older versions of Photoshop may not be looking for the preferences file(s) in the places you think.

Logic froze while I was working on something so I forced quit. Now every time I open LOGIC a message pops up that says:
"Error reading/writing file
“com.apple.logic.pro.cs”:
Logical end-of-file reached during read operation."
The only button option is cancel so I press it and another message appears that says:
"The Preferences are not loaded completely.
Do not save them, as you would overwrite the Preferences file with incomplete data."
Then when i close logic a box appears saying:
"The Preferences are not loaded completely.
Save them to "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" anyway?"
There are 3 button options to press; ok, cancel or dont save.
I press "don’t save" cuz I don't want to ruin anything.
I found a discussion located here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/9564253#9564253 that says if I delete the file "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" it will resolve the problem. If I do this will I loose or mess anything up at all, automation, saved channel strips customizations, saved effects, synth, or ultrabeat customizations etc? Or especially will I loose any work I've done? I have hundreds pieces of music files I've created. I'm scared to mess anything up with all the hours and months of work I've done. Is there anyway to fix this without loosing anything? I'm using Logic Pro 8.

You can safely delete this file - its the preference file for control surface settings - you haven't said whether you're actually using a control surface or not, if so, you will have to set it up again. A new file will be created when you fire Logic up again, but of course it will contain default settings. If you have a complicated control surface setup, remember to keep a backup copy somewhere in case any future problems arise.
Other than that, you really have nothing to be scared about - hopefully your problem is as simple as that and there isn't an underlying problem (a corrupt hard drive, for example). You seem concerned about losing work, so I guess you want to think about backing that up on a regular basis too. If you're saving your projects to your system drive, do get an external one for this. And also check that you have plent of free space on your system drive - you need to keep about a quarter or third of it free for your OS and programs to run properly (some temporarily stored files can be quite large).

hi please help my system preferences will not load when i use my account how ever when i load my partners account it works fine i have updated the software and still nothing the imac is brand new and i have loaded all of my old files on it and now after all the hours i have spent getting to this stage the last thing i want to do is have to take it back to apple and reset it please help?????

Xml file not loading from different server

Hi,
I have a simple flash banner that is pulling a number from an xml file on a different server. When it gets to the frame where the number should be it just says "transferring data from eckul.com" and will not actually pull in the number. Unfortunately I can't put the files on the same servers. Troubles with xmp files not loading...

I'm having troubles with xmp files not loading with images but are present in the image folders. does anyone know why this is happening and if there is a way to fix this. Also when trying to load the xmp individually they are grayed out and unable to load. I have tried this on different machines (Macs) and still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated in this issue.

Aww, yuck!! That's a real drag...
When editing lots of files (yesterday's shoot produced 8GB) I back everything up to off-line storage and then, after doing all my edits and crops in ACR, I only have to copy over the small XMP files which takes no time at all.
So if I re-edit the DNG with ACR I have to re-copy ALL the files again to the off-line storage.
I used to sometimes even save 2 versions of the xmp files when I needed 2 different crops of the same images, such as doing a wide screen 'cinema' crop for a corporate client's Intranet presentation of their event, as well as more standard crops to be used for their newsletters.
Guess I won't be using DNG any more..

Imported Jar file not loaded at run time ORA-105100

I have imported java classes from a jar file into my form. I have it working in client server. Added the entries to the classpath in the default.env and system environment variable for development of the form and for execution.
Moved the jar file, form and testing html to the application server. Modified the classpath in the default.env file. Tested the form. Got the ORA-105100 error. MetaLink note 261650.1 states that error frm-40735 When-Button-Pressed triger raised exception ORA-105100 if calling a java function from a jar file. Cause: Jar file not loaded at run time. Solution: add in your default.env CLASSPATH parameter your jar file including the whole directory of the jar file location. That has been done and the OC4J has been restarted. Still get error.
Oracle support has not been able to give me much help as of yet. Does anyone have any further ideas, or documentation that I can read to help get this working?

Dreamweaver widget spry .js files not loading

Problem with spry .js files not loading on index.html whats wierd is it works on other servers but not on other one, is there any js restrictions on the server, links the same, Is it;
1. useing site root to lnk .js? buggered if I know! But really need to fix this, and all other widgets I have on the site are fine.
2. Some one suggested there should also be a SpryWidgetBase ? whats that about?
3.Is my DOCTYPE ok?

is Your olite40.msb file missing somehow?
You need it since all error messages for the POL Error Numbers can be found in there.
I think it has to be in Your PATH.

Skin file not loading

I've just started learning and developing with ADF and WCP, and something came up.
I have my skin file and my page template. While I was developing my page template, everything was fine, but when I finished, the css file stopped loading... I have created the portal resource for the skin and set it to default in adf-config.xml. Here's the code for adf-config:

Mouse Preference will not load

Here's a weird one.
My Mouse slowed down so I opened System Preferences and clicked on 'Mouse' preferences and I get this message-
Preferences Error
Could not load Mouse
Switched Mouse in USB ports but still the same, Mouse still works but moves slow. Is there a Preferences pref file I can trash or a Mouse pref file? Any idea's?

System preferences will not load

Hello, I am new to all of this and my expert is traveling. I read through this forum and saw some others had problems with system preferences. My problem is that I can not get system preferences to load when I click on it. I have tried the icon in the dock, the item in the blue Apple menu and even in the applications folder. When I click on any of these, nothing happens. This problem just started. I have not loaded any new software or updates in quite some time. Any ideas about how I can solve this problem? I am using a Powerbook G4 with Mac OS 10.4.9. Thank you!

Wow, that's bizarre. "cfragCFragRsrcErr" means that the 'cfrg' resource could not be loaded, but that makes no sense whatsoever. Well, it makes sense in that System Preferences.app isn't a Code Fragment Manager application, but a native Mach-O executable. (Applications in OS 9 and prior used the "Code Fragment Manager" executable format, which involved a single file executable that had both a resource fork and a data fork. See this image for an example. In the resource fork would be the 'cfrg' resource which would define the various sections of executable code found in the data fork of the executable.)
Apple hasn't created any CFM applications in years; as you could see, I had to dig up Microsoft Word to find an example of that format. Instead, in OS X, most applications aren't single "flat" files, but are bundles or packages, which appear as a single file, but are a folder which contains the many individual files that make up the app.
It's a mystery to me why you'd be getting that kind of an error on an application that's not CFM. It would help if you ran the two commands I gave earlier and post the output you get. you can copy and paste one line at a time into the Terminal application and hit return.

XML file not loading in FF from server

I've created a web page that loads an external XML file and
then uses javascript code to parse the file for requested
information. I know it's not the best way to do this, but I'm
trying to get this working before I move on to "better" methods.
When I run the page using the "Preview/Debug in browser"
funtionality of DW everything works great both in IE and FF. But
when I load the page to the server and then load the page in a
browser, it works in IE but not in FF. It looks as though FF is
just not loading the XML file. I can't figure out why the page
would work if launched from DW, but not work if the page is loaded
on the server and then run from there, and only in FF.
The code I'm using to load the XML file is supposed to be
cross-browser compatible. I've seen many versions like from various
sources, so it should be OK. I'm pretty new to all of this so I'm
hoping that I'm just missing something simple. Does anyone have any
idea why this is behaving this way?

Flash file not loading first time but loads on refresh

I have a problem where a flash program is not loading when
the webpage is first visited, it will get stuck on the loading
screen. Now for this file to finish loading, it needs to load in
another file. Once that file is done loading then the program will
continue. But like I said the first time the program gets stuck on
the loading screen and never continues. If you hit refresh in the
browser then the program will continue past the loading screen.
I've checked the code and everything seems fine there. Could
this be a security issue? The two files are on the same domain. Or
if anyone has any insight into this problem, it would be
appreciated.

That is almost always caused by a faulty preloader code. Post
your preloader code or a link to the website so it can be checked.
