Preferred Networks not found

I have a macbook I use in 2 locations - each with an Airport Extreme but with the networks named differently. Since I upgraded to Leopard, my home location picks up the preferred network each time perfectly every time I boot up but when I am at work it will not find the preferred network and I have to manually select it from the airport icon in the menu bar and then it logs in fine, remembers password etc.
I have tried everything suggested elsewhere - deleting the preferred networks, keychain entries, restarting, adding the network etc and nothing worked and it continued to work with only my home network but not the work one.
I have now deleted ALL networks, passwords etc from my system and gone for a fresh start and now it won't find either my home one or my work one automatically- both need to be selected manually.
Does anyone have any suggestions or is this just a Leopard glitch that needs to be sorted?
Thanks
David

Me too! I have the exact same issue except it was also there when on Tiger.
Bought new macbook a week ago, last year's model on sale, came with tiger installed and a leopard update disk. Initially used tiger and it connected ok to a wrt54g but everytime the macbook wakes after sleep it comes up with "None of your preferred networks could be Found" and shows the right one, if I select that it still won't connect. If however I click cancel on the "None of your preferred networks could be Found" dialog and instead go to the airport icon in the top bar and slect the preferred network from the list it connects immediately remembering the password etc.
So whatever it is seems to have been there in tiger also and I also updated to 10.5.1 which did not help. I've tried all the suggestions foudn here to no avail.
Obviously airport finds the network as I can connect immediately if I do it via the airport icon so it seems to me its that other piec of software I guess that the auto reconnect thing. Seems broken since it won't connect even when you choose the rigt network, when the icon way will.

  • E61 - "network not found" in Hotspot area?

    Hi,
yesterday I was in a restaurant that had a sign saying "Free wireless Internet access". So I tried to connect using my E61. When I selected "search for WLAN" as the AP, it was found and displayed all right. But when I selected it, I got the message "network not found".
Can anybody tell me what that was? Like "I know it´s here, but I can´t find it"?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi jimmyireland,
sorry, but you´re talking in riddles. I am no cleverer after reading your answer. I´ll tell you exactly what happened on my phone:
I´ve set it to always ask me which AP to use, so I get to choose whether to connect to my mobile network or to any other configured network. I can also "search for a WLAN". After reading the sign, I selected that. I was told the names of several wireless networks, among others the one in the restaurant. So I selected that and hit "Connect". After a few seconds, I then got the message "No network available".

  • Why is my wireless network not found?

I have just installed HP Deskjet F4500 on my PC. I want to connect to my wireless network connection but it keeps telling me "wireless network not found". (I am using my wireless so I know that the wireless connection is fine.) I have all correct details (correct network, SSDI, WPE encryption code) for installation but no luck.
I have a Netgear DG834N router. I did run the www.hp.com/go/networksetup analyser which told me that HP is not currently supporting the router. Can that be right?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

OK, let's go check the router's settings:
Type 192.168.1.1 into a browser.  The login is 'admin' and the password is 'password'.
On the left side, choose Wireless Settings under the Setup heading.  You should see your SSID.  Make sure the Mode is set to 145Mbps.  Here you can choose your Security Options.  I highly recommend WPA2-PSK (AES).  If you have WEP, please change it.  WEP is not secure.  If you change your security settings, choose a passphrase that is at least 13 characters, numbers and letters, upper and lower case.  You will have to re-enter this into all of your wireless devices.
Now, lower on the left side, choose Wireless Settings under the Advanced heading.  Make sure that SSID broadcast is checked.
If you changed anything, check Apply toward the bottom.
Let me know what you found.

  • Nokia X6 Wifi network not found

I've been using my home wifi connection on my phone for a while, but then one day when I tried connecting it, it says 'WLAN network not found' I've tried refreshing it a lot of times and it sometimes shows up, but it doesn't let me connect. Could it possibly be because of my network at home, or is it something to do with the phone?

same thing was happening to me on my x7-00. To fix it First try checking if other apps are using wifi and close them. If it doesnt work try restarting you phone and see if it works. If it doesnt work try deleteing your wifi accsess point from you phone and try reconecting to wifi network, phone will automaticly set accsess points again, and it should work. If not try factory setting reset to you phone and it should work 100%. Of non of this methods are working try checking you wifi router setting and check if mac filteringnig function is blocking you or not. You can also try connecting to an other wifi network.
    Good Luck

  • None of your trusted networks not found??

I have a wireless network called X setup at home. My macbook can connect to it just fine using airport, but it will NOT recognize it as a "preferred network".
Every time I reboot, it will say "Trusted NW not found, want to join <another name>"? I will then go to the airport dropdown, select X and it will work fine.
I have set up X as my "preferred network" in the network option dialog.
Any ideas how I can make it connect to X all the time automatically?
    Thanks
    Andy

"Am I missing a setting somewhere?"
    Hi coreworksnet!
You can use the "Options..." button located below the list of preferred networks.
A drop-down box gives you the option of making a new selection for the "If no recent networks are found:" selector, which has a default setting of "Ask before joining an open network." Instead direct your Mac to "Keep looking for recent networks."
Once you make your choices, click on the blue "OK" button, and after the drop-down box retreats, click the "Apply Now" button to make that change to your configuration. Your Mac will no longer look at another network. Your AirPort icon will still display other available networks, but AirPort will not ask if you want to join, nor will it try to join any network other than those on your list of preferred networks.
This may not agree with everyone when traveling and searching for available networks, but it's easy to change and the results are totally predictable.
Ok, that'll prevent what you're being asked, but to resolve the hanging issue that will then occur when it should instead be joining your network instantly, you'll want to use the above suggestion by James.
Let us know how you make out, as there are a couple other steps to take if need be.

  • "Data network not found" message

I've had my phone for about 3 weeks now. Yesterday, I'm on the road and the phone will not pick up a data network signal. I figured it was just a bad area, but then I roamed all over Boston and could not pick up a data signal even though the bars were full. Went out of town and same problem. Later, I realized that I couldn't make or receive calls either. Finally, I turned off the phone then turned it back on, which fixed the phone call issue (and all these messages came up), but then I tried using Safari and the message came up again. What's more, once that message came up I couldn't make calls anymore either until I restarted the phone! Now I'm back in my apartment and it's as if nothing happened. What gives? I saw a post about resetting the network. Does this happen often to other people?

  • "Preferred Network" not available

Okay, I have an iBook G4 1.42MHz /w 14" screen. My Airport Extreme has been recently re-configured with WPA password. My problem is, whenever I log into the iBook, it tells me that none of my "Preferred Networks" are available and it shows available wireless networks. But my preferred network appears as one of the available networks. And when I click on it, Keychain fills in my password for me, then everything is okay. It is frustrating for my wife (who just wants things to work) needs to use the laptop and I am not here to make it work!!
I had read some threads stating that the iBook is NOT compatible with WPA2 so I checked my settings on my AE Base Station, the encryption is listed as "WPA/WPA2 Personal" so I thought that maybe this was NOT the problem.
I realize my iBook has no PRAM battery, and I've already tried resetting the PMU. The main battery is kept charged, so that is not the issue either.
So, is WPA2 the culprit or is it something I've overlooked? I could just try changing it willy nilly, but I have several devices and not much time for messing around, so I wanted to get some advice before I start.
    Doug

I recommend repairing permissions and checking "automatic" in the network location.
Also in the network airport preferences, click on options and make sure that "disconnect from wireless network when I log out" is not checked. Of course it might be something with the base station if these suggestions don't fix it.

  • After software update wi-fi network not found

Turned on apple tv (newest one) this morning and there was an update so I had it run, after restart, Apple TV cannot find wifi network any longer although it found it fine to update, my phone and laptop in the same room 20 ft from the router are having no trouble connecting. I have 2 wi-fi networks (linksys router and airport) and it won't find either.
How do I trouble shoot this problem? Nothing has changed in my setup. I do not broadcast SSID, watched movies on netflix though it fine yesterday. Did the update change something?
    Any suggestion would be appreciated.
    Betsy

Betsy, i just updated my second gen apple tv and the same thing happen to me. After some trial and error attempts to locate the network i ended up sending it to sleep then unplug it, wait a sec, and plug it back and voila!! Everythings back again. Hope this helps, good luck.

Same To me. I have Asus WL-500W router at home, WPA2-PSK(AES), password similar to this "lIGf@91pY0TnFY!Jh@7LjTUlsL3ZPY", MAC address filtering. My old Nokia E51 works, my Touch Pro Works with it. When i try my one day old Nokia E72 it does not work, the same like others:WLAN: Unable to connect. Wlan Network not Found. E72 works at my work wifi, which has the same settings but without mac filtering. Have no idea what is happening, all is setting correctly. MAC address of E72 is allowed on router. It has the same settings like E51, but E51 works like a charm E72 does not work. What is wrong?
As already suggested, you could try disabling the MAC filtering from the router, just to outrule possibility of a typo while entering E72's MAC address to router settings.
Have you tried swithing a WLAN channel that your router uses?
Log in to your router's web management pages (check router's default IP address and username/password from it's manual) and switch of the "Automatic" channel selection mode. Try few different channels, like 1, 3, 6, 9, 11, if one of the channels happens to work any better. Note that in case you have set your router to use channels 12 or 13 (or in case "Automatic" channel selection mode has decided to select channel 12 or 13) you must have a SIM card inserted and some other than "Offline" profile enabled on your phone since Offline mode (i.e. airplane / flight mode) won't allow your phone to operate on higher channels than 11.
In case you have configured your WLAN network (SSID) to be "hidden", try disabling hidden SSID mode on the router.
Asus WL-500W router seems to be a pre-standard 802.11n device so might be worth looking in to your router's WLAN settings and see if playing around with router's WLAN operating mode and settings improve the situation. First of all ensure that your router is not set to operate in 20/40MHz mode (set it to 20MHz only) assuming that the router is in default 802.11b/g/n mode. You could also try disabling the 802.11n mode completely by selecting a 802.11b/g mode (if available).
You should probably also check that you're running latest (2.0.0.6 ??) firmware version on your Asus WL-500W router since there seems to plenty of complaints regarding WLAN connectivity and stability issues (in general, not specific to Nokia handsets) with this particular router model.

  • NOKIA N8 - Unable to connect - WLAN Network not fo...

also for NOKIA N8 THE SAME PROBLEM: Unable to connect - WLAN Network not found;I see my network in the wlan list (Tthe state is "knowed") but when i try to connect to it,i read: Unable to connect-wlan network not found;i tryed with: mac filter on/off,dhcp on/of,wep protection on/off,firewall router on/off,power saving in the phone on/off, but the problem is the same ever!..Niklas Savander,..where you are?..nokia is back?..but with the same problems!

Well, I seem to have issues with WLAN as well.
When I am approx. 10metres away from my Router, the N8 doesn't connect. However, I can connect to WLAN using my Nokia N900, Nokia E52 and my Netbook (Asus EEE1005HA). This is a N-router with standard settings. I have tried changing, the channels etc. but it doesn't resolve the problem.
So is this a problem with the Nokia N8? I mean, all my other wireless devices work fine. I even tried changing the Wireless Interface type from N/B/G, to B/G but as I said before, the problem is still there.
Hopefully this problem can be sorted with a software update, that is if the N8 finds it difficult to connect to Wireless Internet.
P.S.: Tthere is another thread reporting similar problems. Here is the link.

  • The Network Path was not Found - Server 2008

I am managing a Windows Server 2008.  When I go into the Group Policy Management Council and attempt to edit, or add group policy it comes up with an error "Failed to open Group Policy [...] The Network Path was not found."  I am new to using Windows Servers and quite confused as to the problem.

    Hi,
This problem may be related to network access. I list some common factors and corresponding troubleshooting steps as below. Please check them one by one and let me know the result.
    1> DNS issue
From the problematic PC, please run the following commands and then check if the issue still exists:
    1) Can you ping FQDN of the DCs in your networks?
    2) Can you ping IP of all the DCs in your networks?
    3) Does the DNS configuration point to the correct DNS server?
    2.
    1). Start -> run -> cmd
    2) Type nslookup, and then press Enter; Type set type=all, and then press Enter.
    3) Type _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.<yourdomainname>, and then press Enter to check the result.
If SRV records could not be resolved successfully, please type 'net stop netlogon' and 'net start netlogon' to regenerate SRV records.
    2>. Permission
Ensure you logon DC using the user with domain administrator privilege. If so, please check if you have the proper permission on sysvol files under %systemroot% and inf file under %system root%
    3>. PDC is not available.
By default, Group policy object editor connects PDC role to enumerate GP settings. Please
refer to the following article to confirm which DC is PDC role:

The system cannot find the file specified
I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
How do I connect to my Local DB?
Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
Some of the things I have tried:
From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.

It sounds like there are a couple things going on here.  First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance.  Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error.  If you get an error, post the error message your hitting.  If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect.  If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog.  Ex:  "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name.  However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format.  Ex:  COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install.  Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

  • Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found

"Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found" while trying to access another PC running Windows 7 Ultimate I searched and read dozens of similiar posts to try to resolve this issue with no success.
The situation is, I have a router in home with 4 PC's connected. My central PC is running Windows 7 Ultimate. The others are Windows 7 Ultimate again, and 2 running XP Pro. No special Firewalls, just have Windows Firewall enabled on all PC's, and am running KasperskyInternetSecurity2010 on all. (Have disabled these on all PC's and tried to view/connect and it didnt make a difference, same error)
Fact one: not attempting a Homegroup connection at all, just simply wishing to connect in a basic network environment where I can drag and drop files between all PC's in my Home Network or in my house , however its considered. But on the Windows 7 I am unable to view either of the XP's only the other Win7, and when I try to access that one is when I get the "Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found".
Furthermore, while troubleshooting the problem I opened a Command Prompt in all computers, then an "ipconfig" to view each ip address. Then began to ping each machine to determin connectivity. Which resulted in partial success. My main Win7 machine (which i am on now) was able to ping successfully to all machines. But all other machines were unable to ping to me (main Win7). with a 100% loss.
So at least I determined this is most likely a helpful fact in resolving this. Going into "services.msc" I made sure that all the obvious services are started and running:
DCHP Client, Homegroup Listener, Homegroup Provider, Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper, NetTcp Port SHaring Service, Network Connections, Network List Service, Network Location Awareness, TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
All strarted and running in Automactic mode.
Not sure what other information I can give at this point, to help assist in fixing this problem. Please dont hesitate to ask for me for more info if needed. Ready and willing to try anything to get this working, except for reinstalling the OS. All my programs work great and do not wish to go through the drama ao reinstalling all my programs and activating them and redoing all my Adobe settings and CAD settings.
    Someone please help !

    Hi,
In addition, I would like to suggest the following:
    Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP:
    1.    Go to “Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections”.
    2.    Right-Click on the connection and choose Properties.
    3.    Click “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Version 4” in the list.
    4.    Click Properties, and then click Advanced.
    5.    On the Advanced TCP/IP settings windows, go to “WINS” tab.
    6.    Under NetBIOS setting, click “Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP”, and then click OK.
    Thanks.

  • When I try to open up a PDF document, i get the following error message: "There was an error opening this document. The network path was not found" AArrgh please help as I need to open up my documents. Thanks.

When I open up a PDF Document all i get is an error message saying: "There was an error opening this document. The network path was not found" I dont know how to fix this, so looking for some advice please, as I really need o open up my documents.
    Thank for any help.

The documents I’m trying to read are already saved on my computer, under various different headings, I know that we have a server, so I only assume these documents are saved on here, as I said before I’m not good with all this techno stuff. I do my work each week ( on a payroll system) and save the documents for each company, they automatically go to the correct place. I never request for them to be saved in a certain place ( well not that I’m aware of) . I then on occasions need to open up this information, it is then that I can’t read or open the documents. We do have a tech help, but they are off sick until the 5th Jan, hence me trying to work out if I can fix this problem through this help site. Its ADOBE Reader that I’m trying to use.
