Preferred Viewing Locale

Hi,
I am using CRS2008 Viewer SDK to display my reports in the web browser. Is there a way to control the viewing locale (not product locale) on the server side, so that all those date/page are displayed in the desired language (despite browser setting)? Are the locale settings not stored in the report templates?
Thank you,
John

At view time, then the Preferred Viewing Locale is specified on the ReportSource when it's opened by the report processor.
So on Enterprise, if you use the Page Server, then it reads it from the User session (so you need to set it for the User).
It's not specified by the Viewer, it reads whatever's set for the ReportSource passed in.
Sincerely,
Ted Ueda

  • Error when Refresh Data on Webi from Infoview with Preferred viewing locale

    Hi,
    I am getting an error -"An internal error occured while calling 'processDPCommands' API. (Error:ERR_WIS_30270).
    All the universes are translated to German using Translation Manager. I get the above error only when ' Preferred viewing locale' is set to 'German' otherwise the Refresh Data button works fine when the Preferred vieiwng locale is 'Use browser locale'.
    As per the note 1352299 the settings on the Webintelligenceprocessingserver from CMC is adjusted and the heapsize is also adjusted but still the issue is coming up.
    Could anyone please help to resolve this error.
    Thank you & Regards,
    Anima

    hi,
    I have faced this problem earlier and took lot of time for Root Cause Analysis and fixed the issue.
    Root Cause for some of the objects not being translated is provided below:
    If two objects has same translation in German, obviously Universe will not progress further for translation.
    for e.g.
    Objects in English and German
    1.Country  -> de county
    2.Land -> de county
    from the above example, two distinct objects in English have same German translation which makes Universe not accepting the duplicate objects within the same class.
    Similarly, you need to figure out these duplicates at Class/Object/Condition/Hierarchy levels in translated XLIFF file.
    Duplicates can be identified by opening XLIFF file in Excel and use Data Filters etc... This is a manual task.
    Then for identified duplicates provide Other names in XLIFF file such that Universe accepts them.
    For e.g. the above scenario can be solved by adding a trailing space to the 2nd translated object. Adding space is best option because meaning will not be changed w.r.t end user there by eliminating duplicates.

  • Change Preferred Viewing Locale by a paramter field in the report template

    Hello,
    Is there a method that allows to change the Preferred Viewing Locale at the report template level?
    Actually I have some templates for final clients in different countries, and these reports should be generated in Infoview.
    In order to generate reports in different languages, I inserted a parameter {?Language}
    Then for caption/text I used a formula like this
    Select {?Language}
    Case "en_US": .....
    Case "de_CH": .....
    Case "it_IT": .....
    Case "nl_BE": .....
    However this won't work for date axis in charts and number formats.
    So I switched to Preferred Viewing Locale settings, which seemed to be exactly what I wanted cause everything can be changed according to the local settings, except that I need to change the setting every time by selecting View - Preferred Viewing Locale - German - (Germany)... for 20 different reports
    And what's more important is that I cannot change this setting when I launch the template in Infoview. Change in Preferences will impact all the templates while I just need change on one template only.
    I had a look on all the functions available and it seems that ContentLocale function can only display the current setting.
    Is there any solutions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Wenzhao

    Hello all,
    is it possible to save a query view locally (in ones favorites folders) when only working with a query on the web?
    Thanks in Advance!

    I thought BW saves query view in Favorites by default. At least in ver. 3.5.

  • URL for viewing local files

    I'd been using Browserlab successfully today, viewing local files from Dreamweaver CS5. I logged out and then returned later in the day and am now having problems as the Browserlab window is failing to  automatically load the local file's URL in the box at the top of Browserlab screen (the URL box just stays blank. Can I manually input the local address and if so can someone advise the general format. I assume something like http://localhost/.... Obviously I will need to input my own file names, but just need the root URL/general format for viewing local files.
    Thanks

    Hi flowersplash,
    Thank you for your interest in BrowserLab.  Please check to see if you have the BrowserLab web site open in another browser or browser tab.  You should only have one instance of BrowserLab open at a time.  You might also try restarting your browser (all instances) and Dreamweaver and if that doesn't work, the OS.
    BrowserLab currently only allows you to specify local or firewalled URLs from Dreamweaver.  Directly inputting a URL into the BrowserLab testing interface will test the page from the perspective of a person elsewhere on the Internet.  Open the site you want to test in Dreamweaver LiveView, select "Local" in the BrowserLab Panel in Dreamweaver and click the Preview button.
    Cheers,
    Josh

  • Unable to view local HTML content from "Help Content Only" SSL  iFrame

    Hi
    Can anyone confirm whether it is possible to view local HTML files within an iFrame when generating Help Content Only SSL content which is also locally deployed?
    I have had no problem viewing local html files from within an iFrame with a locally viewed Browser-Based Help project but despite trying a number of variations on the syntax, I simply cannot obtain the same result from a Help Content Only SSL that is then incorporated within a merged help system. I can however create hyperlinks to view local content using the following syntax (file:/C:\folderName\fileName.html - the only drawback for local preview is that you must right-click and select "open in new tab"). Essentially, I am trying to eliminate the requirement to have to right-click and open in new tab to view local html files.
    The project I am working on is deployed both locally and remotely and this whole process is necessary for emergency management and business continuity purposes.
    I hope my explanation isn't too convoluted and would be glad to clarify it further if required. I would appreciate any assistance!

    Hi John
    I appreciate you and Peter obtaining this  information from Adobe and I appreciate your continuing patience in  trying to understand what I am doing.
    I will start  from the beginning and hopefully clarify my process when deploying my  application locally (my remote process differs somewhat but is not  germane to this discussion). Obviously this will contain some repetition from previous posts but I hope it helps...
    The project itself integrates content created from Adobe RoboHelp with content created within Adobe Dreamweaver
    First, I should mention that I am using RoboHelp 8 as I don't believe I have addressed which version I am using. There's nothing particularly unusual about the project itself.
    Utilizing Dreamweaver I have created a self-contained HTML-only (no server-side functionality) website which is placed at the root level of the C: drive
    Within the RoboHelp project I create a hyperlink to access the local HTML files from the RoboHelp topic pages. The process I use to do so is from within the HTML view of the specific topic page and I use the following file path: "file:/C:\folderName\fileName.html". The only end-user requirement is that they must right-click and select "open in new tab", otherwise the link does not work. Please note, this is ONLY required for accessing the local HTML files.
    I output my RoboHelp project using the Adobe Air SSL, with the output type set to "Help Only Content" which creates the .rha files. I utilize multiple .rha files within my project as each .rha file constitutes a module specific to an individual municipality (in my particular instance)
    I use the Help Viewer Wizard from the RoboHelp "Toolbox" pod to create what I refer to as the "shell" .air file. Once the "shell" .air file created from the Help Viewer Wizard is  installed, it creates a shortcut on my desktop.
    I place an XML .helpcfg file within the directory on C:Program Files where my "shell" .air file has been installed to reference each .rha module which must be placed at the root level of the C: drive in order to be properly referenced by the .helpcfg file
    By double-clicking on the desktop shortcut created in Step 6 it opens the "shell" module which, in turn, loads in each individual .rha file which can be accessed individually from the drop-down menu in the top-right corner
    Why do I do it this way?? My organization severely restricts admin privileges on our workstations. We have one IT person / several hundred officers so I needed to create a system where the only time we need IT assistance is in the initial installation of the "shell" .air file created from the Help Viewer Wizard and placement of the .helpcfg file within the C: Programs folder. Once this is done, because the .rha files are on the C: drive, I can swap these out and update as necessary (we currently have an annual renewal cycle) and we require no further IT intervention. The local system I have just described has hyperlinks to the online browser-based help so that users can also access it and see any content updates made throughout the course of the school year
    Having said all that, based on the model I have just described, I have been trying to create iFrames from within my RoboHelp 8 topic pages (placed on my C: drive) to access the local HTML Dreamweaver site (also on my C: drive). The problem I have been having is that the resultant iFrames display only a blank white page and I have tried a number of variations on the syntax of the file path without success.
    The process I have been using to create the iFrame is as follows:
    In Design view, select Insert >> HTML >> iFrame
    In the iFrame dialog box, provide a name for the iFrame and then navigate to the local file on my C: drive level Dreamweaver HTML-only website that I want to link to.
    Click "Apply" and from the resulting dialog box states that "This action will create an external link to the help system... Do you want to continue?", I click "Yes"
    The resultant file path is "../../../../../folderName/fileName.html" which obviously won't work but I have created the iFrame and now I switch over to HTML view and insert the file path that I have been using for the hyperlinks ("file:/C:\folderName\fileName.html"). I also modify the width to 100% and the height to 1000 px
    The user is not being directed to a different domain. So, if as Adobe states, that iFrames are "supported in local AIR Help (.rha) as well" then I don't know why it will not work for me. Again, this is the file path that allows me to create a hyperlink which will access my local Dreamweaver HTML files: "file:/C:\folderName\fileName.html" so if that syntax works for a hyperlink, why will it not work for the iFrame?
    The videos I referenced are also contained within the local Dreamweaver HTML site
    My usage of the term "merged help" may have been unclear and hopefully steps 1-8 outline what I am doing
    Again, I am very grateful to all who have joined this discussion to try to help me! I think it should be manifestly evident by now that I am self-taught and basically that's the only excuse I can offer in my defense for my poor articulation. Not too many years ago I wanted nothing whatsoever to do with computers!

  • How to view local videos on iOS mobile device

    How do I view local videos on my iOS device running an Adobe Air app? I know how to view the CameraRoll for iOS in Flex on Adobe Air, but the CameraRoll class only brings up photos, no videos.  When I use:
    if (CameraRoll.supportsBrowseForImage) {
                                                      var roll:CameraRoll = new CameraRoll();
                                                      roll.browseForImage();
                                            } else {
      trace("Camera Browsing not available");
    The cameraRoll instance that is brought up only shows photos, no videos.  Any ideas?

    +1  I need this as well.
    It looks like it's simply not available in CameraRoll - is support planned?  What are other possibilities - File?  Navtive extension?
    Would AIR even be able to play typical phone video formats?  From a quick search, it seems that the iPhone captures h.264 in a mov container, while at least one Android phone captures MPEG-4 in a 3gp container.  I'll try transferring such videos to my computer and embedding them in a test app just to see if they play.
    Thanks for any insight!
    ETA: The docs for NetStream list h.264 and 3gp as supported formats.  From my testing, however, NetStream does play the iPhone .mov file, but does not play the Android .3gp file.  A Loader plays neither.

  • How To: Use Visual Studio, IIS Express, and Adobe Edge Inspect to view local projects

    You CAN view a Visual Studio project with Adobe Inspect. The work around takes a little bit of time.
    This involves using IIS Express to run your Visual Studio project, which is mainly a setting in Visual Studio, a Firewall change, a few command line and IIS Express config change.  It isn't actually all that bad, but will make your life A LOT easier.
    Here are the steps. (Note these are steps I used for Visual Studio 2012 and your project is part of a solution project.  Windows 7 or Windows 8)
    1. If IIS in not turned on, turn it on.How to: Enable Internet Information Services (IIS) - this should install IIS Express as well.
    2. In Visual Studio, find the port that Visual Studio will be using for your project by Running your web project (Debug), and note/write down/save the port number that shows up in the browser when the project launches. (ex.  http://localhost:12345)
    3. Add a NetShare Reservation (process for this will be different for Windows XP)
    Go to your Command Line (CMD) in Windows and in c:\Windows\system32> type in
    netsh http add urlacl url=http://yourIPaddress:yourPortNumber user=everyone
    (ex. netsh add urlacl url=http://12.34.56.78:12345 user=everyone)
    Hit Enter key. You should be a successful add reservation message
    3. Go to your Windows Explorer (File system) and go to c:/Users/YourName/MyDocuments (or Documents)/IISExpress/config/ and open 'applicationhost.config'
    In the 'applicationhost.config' file find your site in the <sites> section.
    Example:
    <sites>
    <site name="WebSite1" id="1" serverAutoStart="true">
                    <application path="/">
                        <virtualDirectory path="/" physicalPath="C:\MyProjects\TestSite" />
                    </application>
                    <bindings>
                        <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation=":12345:localhost" />
                    </bindings>
                </site>
    </sites>
    In this section ADD 2 new lines to the <bindings> section. Note add your own IP address and your own Computer Name
    <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation="*:12345:12.34.56.78" />
    <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation=":12345:MyComputerName" />
    Save the config file.
    4. Open up your Windows Firewall and go to 'Advanced Settings'. Here you want to create an Inbound Rule.
    Right click on Inbound Rule and select New Rule
    - Rule Type select 'Custom'
    - Program leave this
    - Protocol and Ports > Protocol Type select 'TCP' then Local Port select 'Specific Port' and fill in the port number you got from VS.  Leave Remote Port alone.
    - Scope
    There are a few ways of doing this. Typically you would go the the Remote IP address and select 'These IP addresses: and select ADD > select 'Predefined set of computers' and choose Local Subnet.  IF this does not work leave Remote IP addresses > Any IP address option selected instead.
    - Action leave this
    - Profile select Domain and Private
    - Name put IISExpressWeb for the name
    Select 'Finish'
    5. Go to Visual Studio. (Note if you have multiple projects in your solution, choose your start up project. Right click on your project in Solution Explorer in VS and select 'Set as Start Up Project' )
    Right click on your start up project again and you should see an option to 'Use IISExpress'
    In the DEBUG dropdown (from the main menu bar at the top) select 'YourProjectName Properties'. Mine was the last one in the list with a wrench icon next to it.
    This should open an new tab in your project, You should see a left hand list of option and a right hand column of options.
    In the left column select 'Web' and in this tab select Use Local IIS Web server and select 'Use IIS Express' and type in your IP Address and port number (same as before) in the Project Url text box.
    Save.
    NOW, you should be able to run your project in Visual Studio and use Adobe Edge Inspect on your device and view new results in Chrome. You can develop from there.
    If you still can not see it working, please be sure your device is on the same SubNet or Wireless network as your computer.  If you are in a large network but the domains can still see each other, the Firewall Setting detailed above to allow Any IP Address in your Scope section.

  • Discoverer Viewer Locale language - problems with data retrieved

    Hi all, I have a very strange problem.
    I'm using Discoverer Viewer 10g and when I connect to the same eul/database using Locale: Locale retrieving from browser, I see all my data different from "0" into my report; if I choose Greek as Greek's language I see ONLY "0" as data.
    All the queries for the reports are always the same, but something has problems with the language chosen.
    This doesn't happen, for example if I choose another language (Italian or French for example), but ONLY with Greek !!!!
    Anyone have had a similar problem in the past ?
    Thanks in advance
    Alessandro

    It appears as though there is a general JDBC problem. Please make sure your JDBC client is up to date with the Server. We have seen data conversion problems when there was a mismatch.

  • View local html files

    Does anyone here know how to view html files which are stored locally on iPhone?
    Thanks

    Unfortunately, iPhone Safari doesn't support the "file://" protocol.
    Not having local storage of web apps was, and is, a big limitation.
    Some companies I contract to, have large business apps written under IE6 on handheld Windows CE devices. The apps are stored on the device. When the iPhone (and Safari Windows) came out, we thought about modifying them to run under Safari. The limitation stopped that idea.

  • Viewing local web pages

    Hello all,
    I'm new to the Mac world and ran into a problem today.
    I was not able to view web pages (html) that I created in Safari.
    When I went to open the page in Safari all I could see was the actual html code.
    Where am I supposed to put the files so they can be viewed?
    Do I need to put them into a folder on apache or change their property to executable?
    Thanks in advance for your input!
    All the best,
    Gerry

    Gerry,
    First, if you are just doing html pages, as long as you open them as a web page, they will be viewable anywhere on your computer. Open Safari, then go File->Open and navigate to your html page, but the file you open must be name with a .html extension(index.html). It should open as a web page.
    Secondly if you are using any server specific languages (PHP, Ruby, etc) you need to first turn on Apache by going System Preferences->Sharing->Turn on Web Sharing
    Web sites you want to view from the server need to be stored (by default, it is changeable) in /Library/WebServer/Documents (this is the root library, not your user library, so the easiest way to find this is to open a finder window and click on your boot drive icon, and scroll down to Library, the WebServer directory will not exist in your user library).
    you would then open a safari window and type "http://localhost". this will load the index.html page inside the Documents directory above.
    create a directory name "mySite" and put that directory in the Documents folder. Inside mySite put your hello world web page, named "index.html". Navigating with safari to "http://localhost/mySite" will fetch and serve your web page to the web browser.
    Finally, there is a "sites" folder in your user directory. the url for accessing files in that directory is "http://localhost/~username" where username is your account name. This would be the default directory for iWeb, and other apple related websites that need local hosting for testing.
