Preflight Panel Error

I've recently started using the preflight panel in ID CS4 when I produce my company's 4/c process covers.
I have set up a custom preflight profile so that under:
- IMAGES and OBJECTS > Image Resolution > color, grayscale and 1-bit images are checked off and set at minimum resolution of 300dpi.
- COLOR > Color Spaces and Modes Not Allowed: RGB, Spot Color, and Lab are checked off.
                > Spot Color Setup > Predefined Spot Colors Must: Use CMYK Equivalents
However, when I place some EPS files, I'm getting preflight panel errors indicating that the EPS file has an effective resolution less than that of 300dpi I set in my custom profile, and that the "content" uses spot color.
I opened up the EPS files in AI CS4 and the doc info says no spot colors. And when I package the ID files with the EPS graphics, the summary says that no spot colors were found. Also, these are postscript files...why would I get a resolution error? Besides, the EPS files are at 100%.
Why the spot color error? Help!

Run the EPS files thru Illustrator and sava as to proper current .ai files and replace and see if the problem persists.

  • Preflight panel Info. shows my placed 300 ppi PDFs at much less effective resolution

Ï'm brand new to InDesign (graphic designer who primarily works in Illustrator, some Photoshop, until now). I understand resolution and PPI but not necessarily in-depth knowledge of the related necessary workflow needed within InDesign, if that makes sense. I've spent hours and hours the last couple days trying to learn the finer points of InDesign as I work on an ad magazine for my company, but I can't for the life of me figure this particular issue out, and I'm guessing (hoping!) it's a very simple solution.
I placed several 300 PPI PDF images in the magazine document (vector PDF's I created in Illustrator, saved as editable PDF's).
I created a Preflight Panel in InDesign with a custom Profile, named it Print Ready, and set image resolution to 250 to ensure as I finish up this magazine design that things are press/print ready. It now shows 5 images with Image resolutions lower than the 250 minimum - all of the pdfs I placed. They all show very low PPI, 74, 109, etc. The 300 PPI pdfs were already sized to the exact proportions they needed to be in the InDesign file and for print, so there was very minimal scaling to fit the images into their frames, so I'm assuming scaling couldn't have created this issue and it has something to do with my workflow and the way I'm bringing them in.
I'd like to point out that this magazine document was created by another designer, and I'm picking up where they've left off, adding some final images and copy. The other picture images she had in the file appear fine, no errors in Preflight Panel...even some preview stock photo's with the X's across them that appear to be very low resolution (we haven't purchased them and replaced them yet in this InDesign file), so not sure I understand why those are not showing up in my Image Resolution as errors??
Anyhow, at some point I came across the Document Presets, which is currently set to Default - and when I click Define, I noticed it shows the PPI at 72. Does this mean that files I place are "brought in" at 72 PPI, regardless if their original PPI is higher? And if so, how do I change that?
If not, how do resolve or correct?
Sorry for the very long explanation - just want to give as many details as I can, since I'm not exactly sure which details are important to figuring out the problem. Thanks in advance!!

I've checked the resolution in Photoshop just as a double-check and it shows resolution as 300 PPI. When you say "because they can be mixed" do you mean because elements and graphics with the PDF can be of varying resolutions? I hadn't thought of that, if that's what you meant. I do have some items within my pdf that might be lower resolution.
If these show up in my Preflight Panel as an issue, does this mean they would be flagged also with the Printer? In trying to find a resolution I read several forum discussions about how Printers often run your document through a Preflight process and will send it back when there are low resolution images in the document.
Is there some other way to be sure these images are in the InDesign document as 300 PPI so I can know they will in fact print correctly?
PS - Peter - thanks for the super quick response! And I saw your the highlighted "Exceptional Contributor" on the right sidebar for the InDesign forum - clearly well-deserved! Congrats

  • Preflight Panel Problem!

    Indesign CS5
In the lower status bar preflight reports 3 errors and there is a red dot. When I click on the tab to bring up the preflight panel, the panel is blank and doesn't specify the errors. I tried loading other preflight profiles but the panel remains blank.
Haven't had any luck finding an answer to this problem.
Any one else experienced something similar? Solutions?
    Thanks!

  • Duplicate script label warning into preflight panel - possible?

    Hello!
Duplicate script labels are creating problems for us.They occur when our graphic designers copy a picture box and forget to change the script label, resulting in two identical images - if the indesign document is closed - and reopened.
Is there any way to either provide a warning for duplicate script labels, and/or a insert duplicate script label-warning in the preflight panel?

    Hi Hans,
Thanks for that suggestion.Simple and affective.
    Cheers!

  • Preflight Panel. Could this be DONE?

    Hello.
I'm fairly new with creating custom panel for Photoshop CS4/CS5 and I'm just wondering if creating a mini Preflight panel that reports details about an active document is possible. Similar to the screenshot below.
    Thanks.

With Configurator you can do it but configuring a "script button"  (  through your own script)
but it will display data only when you click the button
If you want a panel as  shown in the image  you should use  SDK and FlashBuilder:

  • Preflight panel - maximal total ink option?

    Hello!
I wanted to ask is there somewherein CS5 preflight panel hidden option for checking maximal total ink coverage for images? I didn't find it.
In CS3 there was such option. It sometimes worked strange but it was posible. And there was much more option for checking.
Or i just miss something and it all is there and i just don't see it?
    Thanks.

I was found it. Don't remember right now where but there was such thing. Not so obvious but it was posible to add option for checking and find in object list total ink for image. I think same was for stroke and fill color max ink. But that was in CS3. I can find it later (some days) if needed.
Separation panel is excelent thing but since it depends on human eyes it's not so "cool" better for workflow would be to make Indesign do that work.
P.S. Oh my...i feel so ashamed. That was acrobat preflight. Sorry sorry sorry.

  • Preflight panel not displaying / broken

The Preflight panel will not display. Invoking it from the main menu (Window > Output > Preflight), or the bottom of the document window or via the keyboard shortcut - none of them work - the preflight panel appears for the briefest moment and then disappears. No other part of the interface appears to be broken or behave the same way.
    System
Mac OS 10.6.8, InDesign CC version 9 and Indesign CC version 9.1
    Previous versions:
Exact same behaviour in CS6 (8.0.1)
    Works fine in CS5.5 (v7.5.3)
    Steps taken to troubleshoot:
Replicated the problem in a Mac OS X guest account.
Replicated the problem after resetting the preferences (as described in Troubleshooting 101 post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526990?start=160&tstart=0 )
Tried disabling preflight (via bottom-of-document preflight menu). Tried creating new profiles.
Deleted / reinstalled the preflight profiles?
Not sure how I might do this, but it has occured to me this might be worth pursuing.
    Using non-standard preflight profiles ?
No, using the supplied preflight profile.
    Any troubleshooting advice appreciated...

All of a sudden I have this right now. Preflight and conditional text panels empty. Preferences already trashed - no change. Seems to me like a damaged source file.
While thinking about how to make both panels work as usual again, I wanted to repair the CS6 installation. Well, Adobe's installer does not offer a repair option...
Update: creating a new user on Windows made the panel appear normal again. So it seems the registration of Indesign's plugins is corrupt. Well, then let's reinstall it...

  • Preflight detected errors - overset text (1)

    Hi
I have copied / pasted text from a Word document and tried 2 ways to place it in my InDesign CS6 document
    (1) putting copied text into a prepared text box
    (2) using the 'text box' that 'came with' the copied text (enlarged to fit area)
each time the dreaded 'red box with a + ' sign inside appears on the rt. side of the 'finalised' text
and 1 error shows at the bottom which is the Preflight detected error - overset text
I have loads of other text in my document but none copied/pasted
Writing the text manually into the document is not an option in this case
Do I have to format it somehow? I would really appreciate a really simple A-Z step answer for this old gal
cheers  - any help will really stop my hair from greying any further Lou

Does the text contain special glyphs that require a font with Maori support? Id not then you can edit the styles to change the font (or, on the strong probability that the Word file doen't really use styles, you can use Find Font to replace it). if you do need Maori support, you should install a font that supports it, like Arial Maori, on the computer. ID uses any fonts installed normally for the OS (presuming they are not really badly made) or that are located in the private Adobe or InDesign fonts folders.

  • ILife '09 installation problems; run preflight script error

Hi, not sure where else to put this topic so I figured this would be the best place. The iLife section has forums for individual applications and not the entire thing.
I'd like to point out that I had iLife '08 installed and working but I uninstalled it before I proceeded with the '09 installation since I wanted to start clean. I also installed iWork '09 successfully.
When I try installing iLife '09 however, I get a an error stating "The following install setup failed: run preflight script for registration. contact the software manufacturer for assistance.". I have tried to repair disk permissions through Disk Utility and then reboot, but still get the same error. I have also tried using some of Onyx's "cleaning" utilities, but it doesn't help either.
I also get the same "run preflight script" error when I try installing the latest Quicktime update through Apple Software Update application.
Not sure any of these are related but I'm out of ideas. Is anyone else getting anything similar or know how to fix any of this?

Just a guess, but do you have a retail disk of iLife '09 or an upgrade that came as a supplement to your new Mac? If the latter, you should have the iLife '08 applications installed in their default locations (where they were located when you first started up the new Mac) because it is highly unlikely that an upgrade disk can upgrade what is not there.
If this is your problem, you may not have to reinstall the entire OS. Instead, first try looking for an "Install Bundled Software" app (or something with a similar name) on your new Mac's system disk 1. This may allow you to reinstall the original iLife apps without having to reinstall the OS. If so, the upgrade disk should work once they are back in place.

  • Spry Collapsible Panel Error in IE

    Hi,
Up until last week my collapsible panel was working fine in
IE 7, but now it has stopped working. Originally it was hideen
until a user clicks a link whereby it would be displayed. This is
working fine in firefox but now in IE7 it appears as default and
will not move when clicked. An error message is displayed saying "
'Spry' is undefined " appears. I have made sure all links to .js
files are correct. I am thinking it must be something to do with
IE7 (as usual) as this error even appears on the sample page for
collapsible panels on the adobe spry site. Could anyone shed some
    light on this problem.
    Many Thanks
    Woodey

That error usually occurs when the page isn't actually
loading the JS files. I know you said you verified the JS paths,
but have you actually tried loading the JS files directly into IE7
to see if it is getting some access error, or if the JS file on
    your server is corrupted?

  • Folio Builder Panel: Error #3115

can someone provide any more details what this eror means?
It pops up after I start the Folio Builder Panel.
After that: Spinning wheel on "Loading Folios".
The error message dialog does not help at all.
Installed the new Tools, uninstalled them already, cleared indesing prefs, installed again in the following order (as always): Producer Tools, then Folio Builder Panel.
    —Johannes

That one did'nt work on my computer.
    The thing that works is:
    On Win user name/Application Data/applicationID.publisherID/Local Store/
    Try follow the steps below:
    1.       Close Folio Builder panel and quit InDesign;
    2.       Find app-storage folder, on Win7 something like c:/Users/[user name]/Application Data/StageManager.BD092818F67280F4B42B04877600987F0111B594.1/Local Store/
    3.       You should find a folder named ‘dmp’ in that folder. Delete ‘dmp’ folder and #sharedObjects in the same folder
    4.       Relaunch InDesign and Folio Builder panel

  • 5450 Test Panel error

    Hello,
I am trying to execute a vi using PXIe 1065 with NI 5673 RFSG and NI 5663 RFSA. When I try to test NI 5450, using MAX, it passes self test but upon clicking the Test Panel and running it using start, the sine wave isn't running and I donot get an amber light on the device's LED? Also after some time i get the timeout error!
    Please help.
    Regards,
    prads

    Hi Prads,
First, make sure you have configured the PXIe-5611 Properties page, setting the PXI-5652 as the LO source and the PXIe-5450 as the baseband arb.
Next, make sure there is a cable running from the PXI-5652 REF IN/OUT to the PXIe-5450 CLK IN, assuming you are not trying to lock the PXIe-5673 to an external 10 MHz reference.
Also try running self teston each of the three individual modules, and try Test Panels on the PXI-5652 and PXIe-5450 individually to see what happens.
Let us know what you find. Also, if you can post a screenshot of the error if you are still receiving one that would help.

  • RUN FUNCTION PANEL error

    Hi, experts,
I'm trying to execute "RUN FUNCTION PANEL" on CVI. During constructing driver, I checked the function panel by this command, but it was failed with error message, Interactive Execution error - Unresolved symbol: _Math_Average.
I do the material in the basic CVI text, and it is very simple function. And additionally, it ran correctly when I completed the driver, then I believe that programming should be correct.
So I'm struggling with editing any settings, but I could not find the solution.
Does anybody have any solution or hint?
    Thanks,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello TetsuyaU!
The most obvious solution for this problem would be to enable the Interactive Execution window environment options found in Options » Environment » Interactive Window. These options specify whether project files or loaded instrument drivers are used by the Interactive Execution window. Otherwise, if the corresponding option isn't enabled, the Interactive Execution window fails to link with the symbol from your instrument driver, and you get an unresolved symbol error.
    Does this work for you?
    Best regards!

  • Databases Panel Error

I have setup a datasource in coldfusion 7, which works fine.
When I try to use the Databases Panel and Bindings panel in
Dreamweaver 8, Dreamweaver displays the full filepath to the
database file instead of the names of the tables.
    Example:
My database file is located in - C:\Program Files\Apache
    Group\Apache2\htdocs\myDB.mdb
    It is named myDB
The database file contains one table - User
Now in the Databases Panel, I can see the datasource, but
when I expand the Tables list, I see
    C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs\myDB.User
    instead of simply
    User
I can click open the table and see the fields within
correctly, but I can't create a recordset correctly unless I
    manually replace FROM C:\Program Files\Apache
    Group\Apache2\htdocs\myDB.User to FROM User.
I can't figure out what the problem is... does it has
anything to do with the fact that the Coldfusion Server is not
located in the same machine? I do have RDS enabled though.
    Thanks for any input!!!!

Vista is not a supported platform for ColdFusion 7.

This looks like Vista permissions problems. By default, user
    accounts
don't seem to have permission to write to c:\inetpub\wwwroot
    on Vista.
I haven't (yet) figured out how to change that (I'm very new
    to Vista
myself) so I simply run programs as administrator to write to
    that
directory. Instead of just clicking on DW to start it,
    right-click and
Run As Administrator... Then it should be able to write to
    wwwroot.
Worked for my for Notepad :)
I'm *not* recommending this from a security point of view.
    Much better
to figure out how to change the permissions on the wwwroot
    directory
so you don't need administrator access!
    > I've very frustrated. Any ideas what has/hasn't
    happened?
Well, you bought Vista... Like I say, I'm new to Vista as
    well and
whilst I dislike it less than I disliked XP, I find it more
frustrating in terms of security. That's why I normally use a
    Mac :)
