I am reviewing the readMe's for some patches I may be applying to an EBS R12 environment.
The readMe's say to apply the patch in preinstall mode.
From the reading I have done about adpatch and preinstall mode it seems that you would normally use preinstall mode for example, when you are upgrading from 11i to R12.
It seems that each patch run in preinstall mode is staged rather than applied and only applied once the upgrade is complete. Have I read the documentation correctly?
My question is this, if I am already on an R12 environment should I be installing these patches in preinstall mode as the readMe says or as normal "preinstall mode=n"?

My question is this, if I am already on an R12 environment should I be installing these patches in preinstall mode as the readMe says or as normal "preinstall mode=n"?Usually, you should not apply the patch in preinstall mode if you are already on R12 and you will need to apply it manually unless you were instructed to do so by the patch README file. Please always refer to the patch README file for the correct mode you need to use.

Preinstall cleanup question

Version 2.18. We are runing the Do Setup step on "9.1-Apply patch 7303029". The text in the Wizard for this step states:
"Before applying 7303029, if you have applied any other patch previously in preinstall mode and do not intend to merge it with 12.1.1 upgrade driver u6678700.drv, clean-up the directory $APPL_TOP/admin/$TWO_TASK/preinstall after taking the backup of current directory.".
"This step will download patch 7303029 and clean-up the preinstall directory so that only 7303029 remains. It will also verify that the u67780700.drv driver is in the correct location and ready to be merged."
In reviewing the ad34009s.sh script it shows that all of the code that moved any contents of the preinstall folder to a backup folder has been removed (17-DEC-2010) so the text of what the step is going to do may be misleading.
Question: We applied 15 financials patches in preinstall mode on step "Check for critical pre-upgrade patches for Financials" and all of these drivers are in our preinstall folder. Should we leave these in the preinstall folder or not? Thanks!

Yes - I had development remove the cleanup so that it would not delete all the preinstalled financial patches - I will have the text fixed so that it is not misleading. Please leave all the preinstalled financial patches in the preinstall directory and they will all get merged into the new driver.

Step 1-Check for critical pre-upgrade patches for Financials (Required)--Merged and Applied necessary preinstall patches
---This created preinstall directory under $APPL_TOP/admin/$TWO_TASK
Step-2:
Now, as per patch 7303029 readme applying 7303029:12.1.0 in "preinstall" mode
Below extract from Readme:
"If you have applied any other patch previously in preinstall mode and do not
intend to merge it with 12.1.1 upgrade driver u6678700.drv, clean-up the
directory $APPL_TOP/admin/$TWO_TASK/preinstall after taking the backup of
current directory.

So, Should we need to rename the preinstall patches directory created from Step1 before applying 7303029 in preinstall mode?

You need to maintain your pre-install directory with ALL of the driver files from the pre-install patches you applied prior to the 7303029.
However you should be uptaking the latest CUP patch referenced in
Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 (Doc ID 798258.1)

[Other 865 Series] MSI 865PE Neo2-V and Dual Channel Mode Question

Hello, I have a quick question regarding dual channel mode with my current motherboard. I have an MSI 865PE Neo2-V and am wondering if it is possible to enable dual channel mode while having three RAM modules inserted in the motherboard.
For example, I currently have one 512MB PC3200 module in my computer. If I purchase another 512MB module and run them in dual channel mode, will it be possible to buy a 1GB module or another size module, and still have all three slots run in dual channel mode? Or is dual channel only operational on this motherboard if only two of the three slots are occupied?

Modes Question

I have?3 qusestions:
)Is there any difference between sound play back lat say 24/48khz in Enterteiment Mode and Audio Creation mode if awrything(EQ and etc)?is on flat
2)Entertaiment mode has to unoying bottons? Bass and Treble and thay are on default are at 50%, so my question is is 50% is flat or 0 % is flat, i am confused?
3)If i have music with 24/96khz can i playback it in audio creation mode to get actualy this24/96khz hight quality sound or i need swtitch to entertaiment mode?

SSRS 2014 with SharePoint 2013 - Integrated Mode vs Native Mode Questions

Hi,
We are using SharePoint 2013 and SQL Server 2014.
We are building a number of SSRS Reports that pull data from SQL Databases. (Pl note, we are not pulling any data from SharePoint Lists)
We have to make a choice between running the Reports in Native Mode or SharePoint Integrated Mode.
We saw this link: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326290(v=sql.105).aspx - but it has no updated version for SQL 2014.
We have questions on which one to choose - based on what criteria, based on performance (which will be faster), other benefits, pros and cons and also on things that work only on SharePoint Integrated Mode and things that work only on Native Mode.
Would appreciate guidance on the above.

If you had install Sharepoint server, then configure the Reporting Services in Sharepoint mode to take advantage of the Sharepoint. However, when you run a report in the SharePoint integrated mode in SQL Server Reporting Services, the report may run noticeably

Preview Mode question

Hi All,
I'm new to the iMac, having just come from the PC world, and am hoping you can help me with a couple questions. I'm a photographer and in a PC opened my photos in preview then when I wanted to edit one, I'd right click and then choose the program I wanted to open the photo in (Photoshop). How do I do this from preview mode, or can I? I don't like selecting images to open from the thumbnails, because they're just not big enough to see the photo clearly.
Second question. Windows 7 allows you a folder view that opens the folder slightly, so you can see a couple of the contents inside. I don't believe Mac has that option but I thought I'd check. It's really handy, and didn't realize how often I'd used it.

Using the Finder's coverflow or column view is one way to get a little bit larger preview, and QuickLook can be used for an even larger (or full screen) preview. Right-clicking on a file will let you choose what to open it with (you will need to exit QuickLook if that is what you are using at the time).

stops working.

So the common factors are embedded media, IE11 and W7sp1. In the case of the video though I'm not sure where W8.1 is getting its control--seems not to be from Flash support and not something that is controllable by Manage Add-ons. But I
doubt that it really matters which control it is; the type of it probably matters more.
In case it gets us somewhere diagnosing your case, can you try that example too please?

Maintenance Mode Questions

Hi All,
I have SCOM 2012 SP1 CU5 and have few questions on Maintenance Mode (MM).
1) I put my 800 agents in MM for 300 minutes and they get into "Not Monitored" state. When I pull all these 800 agents out of MM together they remain in "Not Monitored" state for about 2 to 3 hours. They get into healthy state slowly
during these 3 hours. Is this expected? Shouldn't they all get healthy quickly? Is the number of agents slows the process and so they take time to get into Healthy State?
2) When I pull my agents out of MM and after they get healthy, I get flood of alerts for them like Health service heartbeat failure, failed to connect to computer., low free disk space, etc. Why is this so as they were in MM and not healthy?
3) When the servers come out of MM, will all the workflows (rules and monitors) run again and generate alerts? even if their alerts (previously created) are already Active in SCOM ?
4) While rebooting the SCOM servers during maintenance activity, what should be the sequence among Management Servers, DB server, DW Server, Reporting Server, Gateway Servers, Web console servers ?

1) For agent "not monitor" after MM, Try to restarting the System Center Management Health service on the agent-managed computer

HVX200 native Mode Question

Hey guys, kind of a newbie question here. We're running FCP 6 and were transferring over footage shot on an HVX200 in 24PN mode but it's showing up in FCP as 29.97. Shouldn't it be showing up as 23.98 in native mode? When I tried transferring off another camera it worked fine. Is there a setting on the camera I need or is one of the camera's defective in some way?

Did you shoot 720p or 1080p?

Off Bridge Mode Question

Trying to determine how my Airport Extreme went into off-bridge mode....noticed my A.E. was blinking the amber light...after determining it was not an update alert, I unplugged the box from the socket, and detached all wires from the back of it...replugged, greenlight eventually came back on, but could not get onto the internet....called the 1-800 Apple number....tech determined I was indeed in off-mode, we fixed it, I'm back onto to the internet...forgot to ask her if unplugging the unit was what made it go into off-bridge...don't want to call back....but will if commnity can't answer the question....that is he question...did unplugging the unit, reset it into off bridge mode, or did I manipulate it within the dialogue box, and inadvertantly did something to put into off-bridge? Recycling power to the base station should NOT make any configuration changes. However, performing any of the potential resets can. The default mode of all of the Apple routers is NOT to be in bridge mode.

DDTS-100 and S750 Installation / Test Mode Question

I got a DDTS-100 decoder for Xmas and just bought the gigaworks S750's yesterday to replace my old DTT-3500. I plugged the decoder and sub for S750 into the wall and hooked the two up via the 7.1 cable. I then plugged the front and centre speakers into the sub. I'm not going to set up the side and rear speakers for a couple of days as I'm painting. Anyways, I then powered on the sub (green light comes on) and the decoder (it lights up fine). The decoder is set to 5.1. There are no other inputs hooked into the decoder. Then using the remote I hit test mode, the decoder goes in to test mode but I get nothing out of the speakers. I've cranked the volume way up and still get nothing. Do I have to plug all seven speakers in for test mode to work? Do I have to have an analog or optical input, or should test mode just work by itself. Do I have to plug in the little control centre which comes with the S750's, I didn't bother because I have the decoder.
Any ideas on why I'm not getting any sound? Any other suggestions of things to try?

Thx, that resolved the issue, I didn't think I'd need it because I had the decoder which basically does the same thing.
One question about the upmix. Because I am using the DDTS-100 with the gigaworks S750's, does it make more sense to enable the upmix through the control centre for the speakers or through the DDTS-750. Would it make more sense to use the S750 as there are a couple of different upmix modes there?
Also, with the volume control for the speakers, should I just set the volume on the Control Centre which came with the speakers to a level such as 75% and then use the DDTS-100 to control the volume levels after that, or should I crank the Control Centre up higher?

Our customer have an CUCM / IM&P in version 10.5 cluster.
He wants to use the fqdn in the CFS device. I try to look into the CFSSEPXXXXXX.cnf.xml and saw in the
<processNodeName>HOSTNAME instead of FQDN</processNodeName> only the hostname.
Its possible to get the fqdn in this field ? Where I have to change the Settings in CUCM / CUP ?

Single User Mode Question

I use single user mode to do fsck because doing it on a live disk takes way too long. I was wondering if there is a way to repair permissions from single user mode. Thanks

Correct. You can't use diskutil because the disk framework isn't loaded. You can do it if you're booted from an install DVD, though.
