PreInstalled OneDrive in Windows 8.1

Hi Sir/Ms
I upgraded Win 8.1 Pro from Win 8 Pro.  Since OneDrive is preinstalled in Windows 8.1,but Onedrive is not appearing in my PC and there is  no syncing.  Please advise me how to solve this problem.
Thank you!
Best regards
Engch

Hi Engch,
I agreed with Cyber_Defend_Team, please take use of Windows Search, and see if we could find out OneDrive, and make sure Windows is always up-to-date.
OneDrive should be listed under the Start Menu and Windows Explorer Navigation Pane, you may press the Windows Key(Or start Windows Explorer, press Win + E ) and check.
More information about OneDrive, please take a look at the following article:

  • Microsoft Word (2013) is Flaky When Opening Files from OneDrive (thru Windows Expolorer)

A lot of MS Word files (saved as .docx) on OneDrive do not open the first time.  Word often hangs when opening.  We are using Windows 7 and this happens on multiple computers.  We have tried to repair/reinstall MS Office 2013 but this does
    not help.
Are there any fixes that we can try?

    Hi,
Does this only happen to Word documents? What about other type of Office application files?
What do you mean by "do not open the first time"? Will it usually open when you try it once more?
Please first check the event logs and see if there is anything useful recorded there about this issue.

It's recommended to download and install

  • Satelite C870-17L : Windows 8 preinstalled : Downgrade to windows 7 ?

I've got a Toshiba C870-17L. There was Windows 8 preinstalled. A very important program doesn't function under windows 8 so I need to install a Windows 7 on this computer.
Can I do that ? Do I wipe the HDD and cleaninstall windows 7 ? No problems with my computer ?
Can I download the original recovery-disks for my computer ?
    Kind regards,
    Koen

    Hi
Before you do anything create recovery media. This recovery media can be used if you want to install original Win8 recovery image. How to do this is described in Users manuals document.
    >...I need to install a Windows 7 on this computer. Can I do that ?
Generally speaking, yes, you can do this.
    >Do I wipe the HDD and cleaninstall windows 7 ?
    Yes.
    >No problems with my computer ?
Only problem can be to find all drivers, tools and utilities. It can be that some stuff will be missing so you will not be able to have 100% functionality but this can be related to some Toshiba specific tools.
    >Can I download the original recovery-disks for my computer ?
No, you cannot do this. Recovery image cannot be downloaded.
For Win7 you must use Microsoft installation disc. Please note that you cannot use product key from your notebook for Windows activation.

  • How to find the product key on a preinstalled version of Windows 8?

    This is a similar qustion:
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-8-and-8-1-Knowledge-Base/How-to-find-the-product-key-on-a-prein...
But its not actually explaining which part of the BIOS menu contains the windows key.
I see a UUID  number -- but that doesmt match the windows 8 5x5 code format.  SO!
where can I locate the windows 8 key in the BIOS?

On recent ThinkPad, the Product ID Key sticker has been moved from the bottom of the unit to behind the battery.
You need to contact Lenovo technical support directly to ask about recovery media.

  • Where can I find the product key on a preinstalled version of Windows 8?

I recently purchased a Lenova Ideapad n580 with Windows 8 installed. I was thinking about adding features; however, this requires the product key and I have been unable to locate it. I checked in the Control Panel under Systems but could only find the last 5 digits of the product key.
Thanks in advance for assistance in locating my product key.

For factory shipped Win 8, the serial number of the OS is actually within the BIOS menu, and not on the win 8 stickers under the laptop.

    Hi Touctzba,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I understand your concern, Lenovo does not recommend multi boot OS (Operating System) as the computer pre-installed applications are programmed to perform on single Windows platform to provide the best performance as per OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). I would suggest you to create a Recovery Drive for Windows 8 using the below link and then installing other OS.

  • Sorry, this update isn't available for your PC" while upgrading to Windows 8.1from 8

    Hi,
I have been encounting this problem from the time i tried to upgrade my laptop or at the time 8.1 was launched .
I never reinstalled the operating system it is the way it came preinstalled by HP, windows is also 100% updated at the time of posting.
Product name: HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC
    Serial number: [Personal Information Removed]
    Product number: E3B56PA#ACJ
    Windows 8 Single Language 64-bit
Now the problem : When i click Upgrade to 8.1 on the Microsoft site it takes me to the Store where i get the below message.
I contacted Microsoft Support and with the help of Logmein they took control of my PC and after the check conformed this is a problem of Volume Licensing .
Now i would like to know how to get this problem solved as this was HP's fault and not mine .

I would like to help you, but comments like "Iam sorry to say but its of no use.." without specifics and detailing what you have checked are not helpful.
You have to be communicatively proactive and helpful for this to be a succesful and two-way troubleshooting event.
Have you looked to verify that the updates required to enable an update to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 are present in your operating system?
Others have faced this issue. They have gotten past it  and updated to Windows 8 by verifying and updating their Windows 8 OS, as decribed in the Microsoft  article.  I had the same issue with one of my laptops.
I also notice that the browser tool that the lithium forum uses has detected that you are using Windows 8.1. Is this the same notebook with Windows 8 you are asking for help with?

  • Windows 7 activation key is working on 32-bit and 64-bit?

Hello, I purchased a Ideapad U350 which came with a preinstalled copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. Because I upgraded the RAM memory to 4GB but my 32-bit OS architecture use only 2,84GB, so I want to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 Home Premium but 64-bit version. The question is (to avoid buying a whole new Win 7 license) will the product key that came with my copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit also work on a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit? Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You're right! I did not use a OEM version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit instead and this may be the reason why my OEM key for Win 7 Home Premium 32-bit was not accepted. Anyway, I reinstalled the 32-bit version which came on the hidden partition because few days ago I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit instead of Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit and RAM usable memory is the same: 2,84GB!!! I did a clean install formatting C: but I did not format and delete the hidden OEM partition which came with Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. After installation usable RAM was 3,84GB. I installed critical & recommended windows updates + the software I'm using the most, restarted my PC and surprise: usable RAM was 2,84GB!!! So it's no use to install 64-bit version...my usable RAM is still 2,84. That's why I switched back to 32-bit version.

  • Recover Windows 7 with Recovery Media from WXP

Created a Recovery Media from a preinstalled ThinkCentre (M58p) Windows 7. Stored on DVD including WINR.WIM total size 257 Mb. Installed Windows XP using Lenovo RnR DVD's. So far no problem.
Now wanting to know how I can recover the factory W7. Used the Recovery Media W7, Windows starts Product Recovery, selected method 'Restore to factory default state'.
Wizard asks for Product Recovery Disc 1.
I created the Recovery Media in assumption having the opportunity to restore the factory Windows 7.
Do I need the recovery disks of Lenovo for this? Does the Recovery Media only work in combination with W7 OS?
F11 starts RnR for the WXP. The recovery partition of W7 seems to be deleted by the recovery of WXP.
In the past (pre-ThinkVantage-period) I used Ghost for the original factory OS's, did work nicely.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
    welcome to the forum.
Ok, so let's start from the scratch. What you have created while the Win7 was instaled was not an "image" nor a backup of your system. That was just a bootable "Rescue" disc, so that in case you cannot boot up into OS, you can boot from this CD and this will give you some options to save your date, etc.
Unfortunately on your protection I have to tell, that it is a bit harder to differ the two buttons, where one says "Create Rescue and Recovery disc" and the second one "Create recovery media". The one will create a disk, like you have. The second one will create you a new set of recovery CDs, that you could use for the restore of your system.
So in this situation, where also the original RnR Win7 partition is gone, Is the only chance to get back to Win7, to call support and ask for the Recovery CDs.
Let me know, if this post helps you. a bit.
Also feel free to asky any add question.  I'll be happy to answer them if I know the correct answer
    Cheers

  • Do you have to upgrade to Windows 8.1 or is this a squeeze chute with no option?

I have finally got my computer to operate without any problems and all my programs work fine, the last time I upgraded to Windows 8.1 I had all kind of issues. So my question is; do you have to upgrade to Windows 8.1 or is this a squeeze chute with no option? Right now I can decide if I want to use Skydrive or not but with Windows 8.1 with Onedrive it automaticlly loads my pictures and documents with out my knowledge and I have to go sreaching to see where they went. Remember I am old and want to do it my way. Pavilion p6 2378, with Windows 8, 64bit.

You are not obliged to update to 8.1 but it is beneficial as it is more stable.  With 8.1 you will be eligible to get the free Windows 10 upgrade when it comes out at the end of the year.
As far as Onedive goes you can disable the uploading of your files by changing the settings, also see this:

  • Windows 7 SP1 install

i had to restore my laptop to 'out of the box' condition.  It's a year and a half old.  After a few days of installing all the required updates I can't get SP7 to take.  It says successful installation and to reboot.  It goes through

    Hi,
To find out if your pc succeeded in installing SP1, please upload WindowsUpdate.log with Onedrive.

  • Cannot "Save As" any Office 365 Pro Plus files e.g ppt to my OneDrive for Business folder

Hi, I am unable to save any Office 365 ProPlus files to my OneDrive for Business.
When I am in the document, I select File | Save As, browse to my OneDrive for Business folder and Click Save. I get the error
"This file cannot be saved to this location because there is no connection to the server. Check your network and try again."
I can drag and drop the file into OneDrive using Windows Explorer and my OneDrive is Synchronizing files OK. This is happening to my collegue as well. Any ideas on why Save As does not work and how to reslve it?

    Hi,
Based on the error message, it seems that the connection between the OneDrive for Business folder and the library in Office 365 site does not connected due to some reasons.
I recommend to click the OneDrive for Business button and click Sync Now to reconnect the folder with the site.
And then check the status of the OneDrive for Business folder to see if the sync is OK.
After that, use Save As to save the documents to the OneDrive for Business folder and compare the results.
If above cannot help, I recommend to clear the OneDrive for Business cache and re-sync the library.

  • Need to reinstall Windows 7 but cannot

So about 2 years ago the hard drive randomly blew on my Aspire 5252 and since it was out of warranty at the time I didn't progress with repairing it or even acknowledge the fact it didn't come with any recovery disks. TIme has passed and I need to get it up and running again so I bought a new hard drive and went to the Windows Software Recovery page only to find out Windows 7 can't be downloaded as lo and behold- It's a preinstalled version of Windows and I have to contact Acer for 'software recovery options'! I've gone everywhere online and found quite literally nothing in regards to this issue aside from the fact I'm not alone with this issue and Microsoft isn't providing the least bit of help to work with everyone. I won't purchase new recovery disks as I refuse to buy something that initially wasn't provided with my system (I didn't know at the time they should have been included) and to be honest, its just straight up rediculous how complicated this is... I don't know where to or even how to progress as I'm beyond frustrated at a seemingly simple task. ...Help?

Acer  does not ship recovery disks with any computer. Instead, the harddrive on the computer has a recovery partition that can be used to execute recovery or to create recovery disks. since it was not created earlier, the only option for you would be to purchase the recovery disc.  If you have a unit from US or Canada, you may check the avaliablity and purchase the recovery disc from Acer store :  Acer Store  Click the Kudos to say “Thanks” for helping! select "Accept Solution" if your issue is resovled.

When navigating original digital camera jpeg images the last image does not become ready as others i.e

    Basic trouble shooting
How do you sync your Onedrive?
Are you having issue syncing your Onedrive to your computer or mobile devices?
What is the version or operating system of the device or computer you're syncing with Onedrive?
Are you getting any error message? What are the recent changes made prior to the issue?
Does issue occurs on all your Onedrive files or just on a specific file?
Can you edit your file via Onedrive web?
What are the exact steps you did on how you're trying to edit your files on 8.1 Onedrive? Is it via the Onedrive client or the modern Onedrive app?
Is your PC connected properly to internet and not on a metered network?
Could you confirm if the Onedrive Sync Engine continues to run and doesn’t continue to crash? To check, Go to Task Manager, ensure "Sky Drive Sync Engine Host" process is running.
On your Onedrive app, are there errors at the top of the screen or top right corner? (Top right corner error is a link that opens the “Progress” view page. )
Are there any icons on your Onedrive client on file Explorer  that indicate errors (i.e., yellow triage, red x).  If there’s an error icon, look for the error at the bottom of the file explorer window or right click on the Onedrive and select
“View error” and opens the modern Onedrive app “Progress” view page
If the above doesn't help then
    Restart your system
Confirm that your computer is able to access the internet and is not on a metered network.
Confirm that the Onedrive Sync Engine continues to run and doesn’t continue to crash. Go to Task Manager, ensure "Sky Drive Sync Engine Host" process is running.
When viewing through Onedrive app: Launch the Onedrive app and look for errors at the top of the screen or top right corner. Top right corner error is a link that
    opens the "Progress" view page.
When viewing through the Onedrive Desktop (File explorer view): Click on the Onedrive node and look for any icons that indicate errors (i.e., yellow triage, red x). If there’s
an error icon, look for the error at the bottom of the file explorer window, or right click on the Onedrive, and then select View error which opens the
modern Onedrive app "Progress" view page.
Verify if the files being uploaded do not exceed the 2GB file limit in Onedrive client (Windows Explorer).
The file has a name that is not supported. Rename the file to a valid name.
Finally you can run the Onedrive  troubleshooter.
