.PREL Converter?

Hey everyone,
Does anyone know how to convert .prel video into something playable on youtube. And please if you're going to recommnd software, let it be something free. I made a vid for my penpal and now that I've got it perfect, it won't upload to youtube. Gr.... Is there perhaps some function built in I am not aware of?
Thanks so much, Cheers*

The one thing to remember is that when you Open your .PREL file in PE, you will need to also have the original Assets available to it.
As Paul_LS state, the .PREL file is but an XML database of links to media and other Assets, plus instructions on what you did with those files, when you edited. If it cannot find those links, it'll throw error messages to that effect. You can then go though and help PE locate those files. If you have not moved, or deleted them, and they appear exactly as and where PE last used them, it links up to them and away you go. Do just as Paul_LS suggests to Export/Share your finished edit.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Crashes on startup in windows 7

Hi, I downloaded the trial version of Premiere Elements 11 on my computer because I need it for a school project-- I need to convert the .prel to a more usable format like .wmv etc. Everytime that I attempt to start the program the program crashes, however the photo editor works fine. My computer specs are as followed: AMD Phenom II X6 1035T processor clocked at 2.6 Ghz, 8 Gb of ram, Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. The model is a Dell Studio XPS 7100, if that matters. Could someone please help me get elements running, or point me to some other .prel converter? Thanks.

Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 (assumed 64 bit system)
Are you or the program setting for the project preset? Whoever is doing it, verify the project settings via Edit Menu/Project Settings/General. The project preset should match the properties of your source media.
What are the properties of what you are putting on the Timeline? You mentioned files with a .mp4 file extension. What is the video and audio compression, frame rate, duration among other things?
    1. You say that you have the latest version of QuickTime installed. Correct?
    2. Are you running the program from a User Account with Administrative Priviledges? And/or have you right clicked the program's desktop icon and selected Run As Administrator?
Among the other considerations, this is what I would like you to do first, that is, delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file. The path to it in Windows 7 64 bit is:
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    11.0
and in the 11.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete.
Make sure that you are working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives On.
When you did the download and/or installation of Premiere Elements 11, did you do so with antivirus and firewalls Off?
We will be watching for your results.
    Thanks.

Add On..if the above does not work, we may have to consider a complete and clean deactivate, uninstall, reinstall of Premiere Elements 11 as well as an uninstall/reinstall for QuickTime. Do you have an Premiere Elements 11 installation disc or installation files if it comes to this?

  • How do I convert a prel file into..

How do I convert a prel file into a mp3, avi, etc. I am needing to upload the video onto youtube and the file is not compatible as a prel. I am using adobe premier elements 12.

Given you have Premiere Elements 12/12.1. (limit...2 GB 15 minutes, even if you have an extended time account at YouTube...the extended time account applies only to file uploaded to YouTube at the YouTube web site)
If your goal is to get a Premiere Elements 12 Timeline uploaded to YouTube, you have two possible routes....
    a. Publish+Share/Social Websites/YouTube and your selection of the preset that matches your Timeline properties
    or
    b. Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with one of the .mp4 preset to export the Timeline content to a file saved to the computer hard drive from where you upload it to YouTube at the YouTube Web site.
For best results, I would suggest an AVCHD.mp4 file instead of the "avi" that you mentioned. What is the video compression that goes with that "avi" wrapper?
As for .mp3, that is a audio file extension, what is your intent on that....an upload to YouTube with just music and with a black video display? YouTube strictly enforces any copyright issues, so please assure that there are none associated with these .mp3 otherwise YouTube will remove them.
Please review and consider, and then let us know if you have the information that you sought.
    Thank you.

  • Convert a PREL project to a FCP project

    Hi All,
I'm looking at opening up a Adobe Premiere Elements project file on Final Cut Express and wanted to know if there's a converter so Final Cut can interpret a prel file?
    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately even PrPro cannot do a full Project export to FCP - yet. It's supposed to be implemented soon, and maybe the CS4.2 update will have it. When it does come out, one could Import the .PREL into CS4.2 (or whichever update does get the FCP export module), and then Export that to a FCP Project setting. Not a simple, freeware converter, by any stretch, but then it will be doable - if one has a friend on CS4.2.
However, you can come close. Edit in PrE and then Export the resulting movie. Import that into FCP for final tweaking.
I'd use .MOV (Animation CODEC) for SD material, and .MP4 (H.264) for HD material. That is about as close as one can come right now.
    Good luck,

  • Convert prel to avi

I am new to Premier. How do I convert the PREL format into an AVI?

    staninvancourver
If you have Premiere Elements 12 Timeline that you want to export to a file with an .avi file extension, then you best go
to Expert workspace, Publish+Share/Computer/AVI and set the Presets to the appropriate setting.
Appears  you have been told that already. What I suspect is being overlooked is the fact that once you get to Publish+Share/Computer/AVI
you need to scroll down (using thin scroll bar to the right of the choices) to get to AVI. If you do not, all you will see is
Adobe Flash Video, MPEG, and AVCHD.
Please let us know if any of the above in this post is the information that you sought. If not, please more details.
    Thank you.

I would second Hunt's suggestion about exporting your Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 Timeline Windows to a .mov or .mp4 file for import into the appropriate preset in Premiere Elements 12 Mac.
On the Windows side just verify project settings for the Timeline as well as the export setting under the Advance Button of the preset that you select under Share/Computer/QuickTime (.mov) or Share/Mobile Phones and Players (.mp4).
Please update us on your progress.

  • Convert old Windows .prel files for use in V10 on a Mac

Hello, I've just recently upgraded to v10 of Premiere Elements on a Mac, having used v3 extensively on a PC.
Is there a way to convert old Windows based projects for use on a Mac in v10?
    Thanks,

No. The project files are not cross-platform.

  • Error converting a Premiere Elments file (*.prel) into Premiere Pro

When opening a Premiere Elements File (*.prel) in Premiere Pro it does not load. Premiere Pro crashes in the process and I get the following message before shutting down: "Premiere Pro has encountered an error. [\SRC\AEVideoFilter.ccp-1651]"
I use Premiere Pro CS5 and import from Premiere Elements 9 on Windows Vista.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
When the PREL comes from a version of PrE, that is rather contemporary with one's version of PrPro, it should Open fine. If not, try to Import it into a similar Project. Now, there ARE some caveats:
PrE has some functions that do not exist in PrPro, such as Instant Movies/Themes, and those can cause issues.
PrE has some 3rd party Effects and Transitions, that do not exist in PrPro, but PrPro should not crash, only alert you to those. However, a few have caused some major issues.
There could well be other issues, that I am just not remembering.
As a test, create a simple Project in PrE, and Save. Open (or Import) that PREL into PrPro, and test.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How can I convert the projects files (*.prel) to a AVI or WMV format? Is that possible?

I'm actually using Adobe Premiere Elements 10.

    rayssasouza
There is no "Publish+Share" in Premiere Elements 10. Publish+Share/ is the Premiere Elements 11 and 12 counterpart of Premiere Elements 10's Share/.
If you have established your Premiere Elements 10 (assumed Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit) Timeline, you can export that to an .avi file and .wmv file and many other formats from the Share area. Remember, .avi and .wmv are just file extensions that wrap the video and audio compression, so, when deciding on export choices, good to keep in mind all the properties that you seek for your export. All that being said...
    General idea....
    For avi file...
    Share
    Computer
    AVI
and then you set for the appropriate Presets.=
    For .wmv file
    Share
    Computer
    Windows Media
and then you set for the appropriate Presets =
I suspect what generated your question was that you are not seeing the AVI and Windows Media choices under Share/Computer/.
If that is so, you need to use the thin scroll bar to the right of the choices and scroll down to AVI and Windows Media to see them
and others toward the bottom of the list there.
Please review and consider. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • Using GoPro Video in PrEl 7

After some experimentation, this is what I think I'm going to do, was looking for a sanity check:
My GoPro creates 1080P MP4 files. I chose 1080P since it's the only setting where the narrow field of view option is available on the GoPro.
    1. Use GoPro's Cineform editor to convert the 1080P MP4 files to 720x1280 AVI files.
Note: this creates AVI files 4x the size of the input MP4 file. I'm guessing/hoping this won't be a problem since PrEl doesn't import/store the entire file into memory, rather opens the file and reads a frame to use for a thumbnail, and reads the video content from disk when needed. Plan to use PrEl's clip editor to extract small clips out of all these very large files anyway. It's just the small clips that wind up on the PrEl timeline and thus must be stored in memory. At least that's what I'm thinking.
    2. Choose the PrEl 7 project preset: "HDV 720p 30" which matches the AVI file's frame size and rate. With this preset, the AVI files played smoothly in PrEl's clip editor and preview pane, better than the Cineform converted 884x480 AVI files.
    3. For output of the finished product for playback on a PC, chose MPEG format with the "HD 720P 30" output preset. This looked good on the PC. Could optionally use output preset "NTSC DVD Widescreen" for burning to DVD.
Sound good? Am I missing any "gotchas" here?
One last question, in my test project, I just created two clips, dragged them to the timeline end to end, and applied the Cross Dissolve transition to the clips. I noticed that during the dissolve, when you can see parts of both clips in the preview monitor, only one clip is actually moving. That is, until the CTI indicator has reached the first frame of the 2nd clip on the timeline, only the 1st clip is moving eventhough you can see the first frame of the 2nd clip in the monitor, but it's just a still image. Once the CTI reaches the 2nd clip, the first clip stops moving and the 2nd clip starts moving. I would have expected to see both clips moving simultaneously throughout the dissolve. Is this expected or a sign that something is still amiss?
Thanks in advance for any advice,
    Todd
    [Moved to Premiere Elements Forum]

Re your question on the cross dissolve transition, note that when you drag a transition to the timeline it can be located to the left, center, or right of the cut. If you want to change it after placement you can either drag the transition box (the one with the swirly arrow) directly or through the transition properties:
Also take a look at Bill Hunts reply #7 in Timelapse movie in PSE10? It goes into detail about 'handles' that are also important to understanding unexpected results with transitions.
    Cheers,
    Neale

  • Converting the trial version to purchased

I want to convert my trial version of APE. I purchased the software from the adobe store and have been emailed a serial number which i am told to enter in software settings. Where is this? I see no place to enter the serial number when I load APE
    Thanks for any help

when I load APE I get a screen headed Premiere Elements 4 which asks me for a new project or saved project.
This is very odd. Does Photoshop Elements show PSE 10, or 4?
What is shown for Help About, in PrE? Does that also say Premiere Elements 4?
As far as the Project file (the PREL), installation, uninstall, etc., should not affect that, but you can certainly make a Copy of that PREL file for safe keeping elsewhere.
Remember, the trial version will add a watermark to the Exported/Shared file. This FAQ Entry will tell you how to remove that watermark, when you get the full-paid version running with your S/N, and then go to Export/Share that Timeline afterwards.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • I could really use your help converting to mP4 files

    Hi Everyone,
I really need your help in converting from the ".prel" file to an mP4 file in Adobe Premier Elements 9. I am new to this program, so I learned how to edit the videos but don't know how to do this part.
How do I do this? When I open my project file, the "File>Export" button isn't highlighted for me to select it.
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Jennifer

prel is the project file, not a video file

J'ai enregistré un film sur "projet adobe premier elements(*.prel) et je n'arrive pas à le lire sur la tv.Peut-être faut-li le convertir?mais la le problème est entier.Merci de m'aider.

What version of Premiere Elements do you have and on what computer operating system is it running?
Without further details from you, I will generalized...
If you want to take your Timeline content to a disc that will play on a regular DVD player attached to the TV, then you
use the Publish+Share (Share in earlier version)/Disc/DVD disc with preset either PAL_Dolby DVD or PAL_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.
In more recent versions of Premiere Elements, you can burn your Timeline content to a higher resolution format on DVD disc (AVCHD DVD), but
this AVCHD DVD cannot be played back on a regular DVD player. It needs Blu-ray player that supports AVCHD DVD or one of those multimedia players
    that supports AVCHD DVD.
There are several considerations that go into getting good results. We can go over each once we get the above basic information.
For your review until we exchange further information.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/using/sharing-dvd-or-blu-ray.html
Your current problems could be related to
    a. a burn to disc issue (the burn to folder needs to be done to define the burn issue)
    b. your creation of AVCHD DVD and trying to play it with a regular player
    c. problems with disc
    d. other
    So lots to work through.
    Thank you.

  • 1. FLV won't import.  2. FLV to AVI-converter.  3. K-Lite Codec

I captured video streams from the web with a third party program, WM Recorder from Applian. A bit crappy, but it mostly works. The captured format is FLV. They play nicely in a media player, also from Applian.
I tried to import them in Prel. In the Add Media window, the "File Type"-bar at the bottom is set to "All Supported Files" by default, and my FLV files won't show. I can understand this, but if you set this bar to "All files" the same happens.
    Huh?
I converted the FLVs to AVI's (using an Applian utility yet again), but Prel reported that in order to import a necessary file was missing.
As suggested in another post on this forum, I installed the K-Lite Codec Pack (with FLV Splitter etc.). Now indeed the AVI's do import in Prel (still can't see the FLV's), but the quality is very poor compared to the originals.
I apologize for all these questions, but:
    1. Why does an Adobe program refuse to import video in the (Adobe) FLV-format in the first place?
    2. Do you have any advice/suggestions for/experience with a FLV-to-AVI converter that does not downgrade the quality?
    3. Now that I installed this K-Lite codec pack, I read various posts warning against codec packs in general, messing up your system etc. Should I be worried and uninstall?
    Thanks for your help.
    Felix

Also, don't forget that Premiere Elements, for all its powerful features, is still a relatively low end product. It's designed primarily to edit video from camcorders -- not every video format in the world.
In fact, it's actually pretty impressive that a program at this price actually EXPORTS Flash!
