'Preload This Track' Setting Missing In QT 7.6?

Greetings,
Just looking for either verification or debunking. I'm creating text tracks for cue/chapter markers, and in earlier versions of QuickTime there exists an option to preload the text track. I've been able to set it in Classic on my old laptop in v6.0.3, but can't find the option in v7.6.
Was this setting removed, or am I just looking in the wrong place (Properties > Other Settings)? It used to be a checkbox right there with 'Cache (hint)'. Or is my QT installation somehow hosed?

Hi Kirk,
Thanks for the reply. If you re-read my post, you'll discover that I have (and know where to find) the "Cache (hint)" checkbox. What's missing is the "Preload" checkbox that used to be right there with it.
These are two different settings that do different things. "Preload" actually loads the track *+before playback+* and "Cache" keeps the track in RAM only after the movie has been played. I can set preload via AppleScript in QT 7.6, and I can set it via GUI in QT 6.0.3 (Classic). What I don't understand is whether or not my install of QT 7.6 is borked somehow, or if Apple simply removed the preload option for users to set it in the GUI (and if so, why?!). ;o)
Any idea?
Thanks again,
Doug

  • Where is the Safari 5.0.5 "Do Not Track" setting?

The WSJ -- as well as most of the Apple Interest sites -- have promised that there would be a "Do Not Track" setting in the new version of Safari -- namely, and specifically, 5.0.5.  For what it's worth, I can't find it.  It's not in the "Preferences" settings; there's no privacy tab there at all, actually; it's also not referenced in the Help menu system; and finally, there's no sign of it in the Apple Site.  In fact, the only references are all from these 3rd Party groups, starting with the Wall Street Journal.
I'm guessing it may be there somewhere -- the new Firefox actually does have the setting, but it's very difficult to find.  Sort of a grudging attitude, I'd say.  "You can have it if you can find it, but we're sure not going to help you find it."
Google Chrome, of course, doesn't have it at all: how could they? They make all their money off selling all the information/using all the information they can, in their advertising business model.
So.....I'm guessing that Safari -- in spite of the promises -- doesn't have the "Do Not Track" option, at least not yet.  If you can find it, please let me know.
    Thanks.

Oh, if your really want to block things you can add a block list to your Hosts file.
1: Download the free Text Wrangler
2: Copy the entire text of this web page:
    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.txt
    3: Paste into Text Edit
    4: Remove line: (important!!)
    127.0.0.1  localhost
5: Use Find and Replace change all instances of
    127.0.0.1 to 0.0.0.0
6: Save the file onto your desktop for now, any name will do. Leave file open in Text Edit.
7: Launch Text Wrangler and File Open By Name:  /etc/hosts
8: Touch nothing you see there (very important)
9: Text Edit and Select all/copy
10: Text Wrangler, mouse to the bottom of the file (add some returns) and click paste.
11: Save the Text Wrangler /etc/hosts file, it will ask for your Admin password.
That's it. you just added a computer level block to all the current malicious sites on the Internet, along with ads, trackers and other nasty business.
All you have to do is update that portion of the /etc/hosts file every few months using the same methods above without deleting the original /etc/hosts file contents.
You shoudl save a copy of the original /etc/hosts file just in case you delete it by accident.
If you want to block any site on the Internet, just add a line and (example, like so)  0.0.0.0 www.facebook.com
If you want to unblock a site just put a # symbol in front of any line for the comptuer to "ignore this line"
What this does is resolves the domain name for certain malicious/ad sites before it asks your Domain Name Server for the correct IP of these sites.
Because you use 0.0.0.0 it's "nothing" and the site fails to load.
Note: All responsiblity is yours if you screw things up or have any problem using this method to block sites.

  • Logon credentials for this request are missing

    Hello,
we are having a probem with our Crystal Enterprise v. 10  environment, running on a Win2003 OS
When end-users Push a report to Crystal Enterprise, they sometimes get a message:
"Logon credentials for this request are missing"
In case end-users than manually logon, they can see the report, if they rerun the report again, it may show the report.
We tried to track the problem, using trace options and looking at the event viewer, but no results.
We do not have these problems on other environments, the only difference is, that this 'problem' environment, runs on a virtual server W2003.
We use CE version 10 with the latest SP (6).
    Anyone has an idea?
    Paul

    Jawahar,
Thank you for your quick response.  We are on version 4.0 and these are Crystal reports.
I was provided with some additional information. It does not seem that the issue is impacting all of our users in China. The IT manager there is reporting that on his machine he is able to access the reports fine, however other users (all using Chinese Windows 7) are having the issue and he is having the issue when using their machines. As you mention and also based on our initial testing, it does not appear that this is an issue with the OS language, however this is why that was provided to me as a possibility.

  • Gift this App is Missing

Running iTunes 11.0.2 on a Mac, the option to "Gift This App" is missing for apps that I've purchased.  It appears properly for apps that I haven't purchased.
Has anyone else run into this bug?  Is there a workaround?  How can I gift an app to someone?

I also had the problem of the "Gift this app" link missing.  This is on a PC.  I was able to gift apps using an iPad logged in to the same iTunes account but the performance was terrible.  I have been administering iPads for a company for a couple of years now.  I have set up over two dozen over that time and this is the worst it has been as far as getting apps onto the device goes.

  • Tracks are missing after upgrade to Garage 11

I upgrade to Garage 11 and now when I open up projects I have been working on, certain tracks are missing. Where have they gone and how do I get them back?

You're not the first person to report this so it sounds like it may be a bug.
If they're audio files that are missing, you can control click on your GB file in the finder, select Show Package Contents, then forage through the Media folder for your missing audio tracks, and drag them back into your GB project on new tracks.
Also, it might be a good idea to tell Apple this is happening so they fix it:

It's telling me that it "cannot be burned because burning is disabled for this track." Why is this? When I signed up, itunes said I could watch videos on up to five computers. How am I supposed to get it to another computer if I'm not allowed to burn it to a disc?

  • The folio for this application is missing resources

    Hi,
In the Folio Builder I am able to build the application using the "Create App..." menu.
When I'm trying to download the successfully built application from the DPS App Builder it says:
"The folio for this application is missing resources. To resolve this issue, delete the folio and create a new one using Folio Builder Panel, then try building your application again."
    Thank you for your answer!

    Hello,
I have the same problem and I have no idea how to solve it.
When I'm trying to download the App for testing on ipad I get the message:
Then I try to resolve this issue following instruction above and I still get the same message.

I've called Adobe Gold Support and the answer was it is not possible to create application with the folio builder throught the network anymore. We have to build the applications on the local mashine in the future.
Following this tip I created my folio offline and then I uploaded to the folio producer and it worked.
I was able to download both developper and distribution app.

  • Eclipse: UFL "u212com.dll" that implements this function is missing

    Dear Sirs,
I try to open one of our reports with the "Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0" sample application. Thie report relies on a com based UFL. I get the following error message:
    Crystal Reports Viewer
    Exception yadada...
UFL "u212com.dll" that implements this function is missing
    OK
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks for your answers.

    The fact that you can see the UFL under 'Additional Functions' tells me that the UFL is compiled as 32 bit. This is good for creating the report in the IDE which is 32 bit. But the app you are building is compiled as 64 bit. But there is no 64 bit UFL(?) that yo have built so far. So, two options;
    1) Build the UFL as "Any CPU". I am not sure if this will actually work. never tried this, but I do know that it is not possible to compile an app using the CR runtime as "Any CPU". E.g.; we always recommend to compile either as 32 bit and \ or 64 bit, not "Any CPU" This may be the case with the UFL, thus the next suggestion.
    2) Compile a second copy of the UFL as 64 bit. You'll then have to use 64 bit GAC and regasm on that dll.

  • UFL 'u212com.dll' that implements this function is missing

I am attempting to write a user function library for the crystal reports version that ships with Visual Studio 2010. Following the walkthrough on the Business Objects website (although that is for VS2005) I have successfully created my .dll file and added it to the GAC, and it appears in the function list under 'Additional Functions' in the Crystal Reports formula editor. However when I use the function on in my Windows forms application, I get the error "UFL 'u212com.dll' that implements this function is missing.". This is on my development machine and I have installed the latest service pack for Crystal Reports for VS2010 (64-bit). My OS is Windows 7 64-bit.
    I have two questions:
    1)  What version of the .NET framework should my class library be targeting? My windows forms application targets the .NET framework version 4, but should I be doing the same thing for the .dll for Crystal Reports? It does show up in the formula editor though, so I guess that means that Crystal Reports recognises it correctly.
    2) I have done a search on the PC for the file 'u212com.dll' and it is in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64 (and also in the equivalent 32-bit folder) Is this correct, or is there is a specific 64-bit version of this file?
Or is it something else that I am missing? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • "UFL 'u2ltdate' that implements this function is missing."

I am working through migrating older reports from a very outdated version of Crystal into a newer version and trialing Crystal Server 2013 with Crystal Reports for Enterprise.  The only problem I am running into is that I have many reports using the NumberToDate function to pull a number string and form it into a date for the report.  I really need this function to work because we rely on it quite heavily.  When I pull reports that use it into my new environment I am given the following error:
"UFL 'u2ltdate' that implements this function is missing."
I have found the u2ltdate.dll on the web and transferred it into the following folders: windows/system32 and program files(x86)/SAP BusinessObjects/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win32_x86 and the win64_x64 as well just to be sure.  But to no avail I am still unable to use the NumberToDate function.  I have even tried copying the u2ltdate.dll from our older server, and this doesn't work either.  I really need to get this working as soon as possible.    I don't know if I need a 64 bit dll because it is windows server 2008 or if I don't have it in the right places.  Please help!

    Hi Warre,
Don't put the ufl into the \windows\system32 folder. Nothing should go there now.
I doubt this will ever work in CR for Enterprise. It's a Java Designer so the only way to make it work is to create a Java UFL.
    Search for this KBA:
1803967 - How to make a Java UFL available in Crystal Reports 2011 Designer?
Same for CR for Ent., you need a Java UFL.
Only way to make this work is to convert the UFL to Java or use Crystal Reports 2011 or 2013.
See this MS Forum post I responded to also:
Custom Crystal DLLs with Crystal Reports 2008 for Visual Studio Run Time
    And this one:
    http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-35036
    And this one:
    Java UFL and VB UFL
Try searching, there is a kbase article with a sample attached.
And you will need a 64 bit version because some of the report processing servers may be 64 bit only but I believe the Crystal Report Processing Server is 32 bit only. It will need the UFL copied into it's \win32_x86 folder.
Only issue you should have is using CR for Ent. to design/update/create the reports with that function. Use CR 2011 or 2013 and it should work.
Problem is we no longer have the source code for that UFL and others, quite often they were written by Support people and therefore not saved into our code source system.
