PreLoader/Slide video buffering issues

Hi I am experiencing problems with my project that uses a mixture of slide video and standard Captivate content. The course preloader displays, the content starts to play then, on a slide video, slide the video will stop and the slide video pre-loader will appear before eventually restarting. I don't think it's a band-width thing because I have tested it on a very good connection and the same thing happens.
What I really want is to get the main course pre-loader to include FLV slide video file size in it's assessment of what has to be loaded - to avoid the FLV slide video buffering and showing its own pre-loader.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
I have tried the solutions offered here http://forums.adobe.com/ but unfortunately this introduced other issues.
Also is there any way of changing the default “loading …” text that comes up when a slide video does need to buffer ?
Many thanks for any help

Slide Video FLVs dont get loaded in the pre-loader. Since the videos could be so large, they are loaded only when encounterted in the project (just when video is being seen). You will usually see a "loading..." message here.
 Please try this best practices for frequent buffering problems - Many customers resolved similar problems with it by calculating actual video sizes mathing your network capability.

Regarging customizing the "loading..." screen - this is not supported at present.

  • IPad video buffering issues - playback continually interrupted

    I have standard definition video TV shows downloaded to my hard disk. I am trying to watch them on my iPad v2 using Home Sharing on iTunes 11.0.3 on OS X 10.8.3. Buffering is painfully slow, and really limited...it never stays ahead of playback; a 30 minute video takes an hour to watch. Or, would take an hour if I would put up with it.
    Would anyone know what's going on? (have searched forums and found lots of similar complaints, but no specific recommendations. I have restarted the iPad.)

  • Trial Version of Elements 10 - video buffering issue

    Hi,
    I have just tried to work with a small .mov 25 sec video clip to test out this software.  It will only play very jerkily but the audio is fine.  The software should be compatible with .mov files, so can anyone explain why it won't play the video smoothly please?  It seems this software has a lot to offer, having struggled with Movie Maker for the last 4 years, I felt it was time to invest in some software that will enable me to produce home DVDs that are about 1.5hrs long.  I was hoping this was the answer, however, now I am already experiencing problems with the video footage, I am getting as frustrated with this as I was with Movie Makers poor performance!

  • I'm having the same buffering issues that other users are having when I try to send a short video from my Iphone 4S to my Apple TV.  Has anyone heard back from Apple on this bug ?

    I'm having the same buffering issues that other users are having when I try to stream a short video from my Iphone 4S to my Apple TV
    Has anyone heard back from Apple on this bug ?

    Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
    Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • Apple TV buffering issues with iPhone 4s and iPad 2

    Hi all,
    I just got me an Apple TV 2nd gen (yeah, I know, ordered 2 days before the presentation of the new one). So far so good, the device is up and running, connects just fine to my Airport Express router and all.
    However, if I try to stream a video from my iPad (2) or my iPhone (4S), the results are quite horriffic. The iPad videos would buffer for a very long time before they start and then quite fast after that the buffering problems restart. It's pretty impossible to play a video fluently of more than 20 seconds. If I'd try from my iPhone it's even worse with videos being 1080p, the thing just never plays, eventually the preloading process stops on the mirroring mode is cut.
    I have to point out, all my devices are in the same room (WiFi) so the signal is the best it can be.
    This is honestly quite surprising AND disappointing to be honest, given I bought the device mostly for that, so I can stream videos from my phone and pad.
    Tell me, am I doing something wrong, or the video streaming over those devices is just a marketing gimmick with nothing real behind it?
    Would it matter if I change my router from Airport express to Airport extreme?
    Thanks!

    I have the same issue with ATV3 and iPhone 4S. Everything works properly, no buffering issues when watching netflix, vimeo, youtube BUT when I try mirroring even a small 15sec iPhone movie it stutters and buffers and results to a choppy playback..same with larger mp4 files such as 1-1.5GB, buffers forever and never plays, I just re-encoded the same movie to 700MB and plays perfectly..
    Why Apple, why?..so close..I can accept the bigger movie files issue, but not being able to playback properly an iPhone movie is funny..I recorded a movie with lower bitrate through Filmic Pro (Economy mode, up to 16Mbps)
    and plays properly.
    Is there an upcoming software update going to solve the problem or is it hardware related and therefore not fixable.
    Please don't reply with a network related answer, by 2012 we know how to set up our networks and everything else runs flawlessly.
    I'll apreciate a fast answer, we love Apple, but if it can't play an iphone movie (or a high quality movie from iTunes) it's just not up to my standards.
    Thanks again.

  • Slide videos (FLV's) starting and stopping

    I've published a number of swf's for a training course that I'm producing. Each of these contain a couple of FLV's, inserted as slide videos, one at the front of the slideset and the other about half way through. The problem is that a number of people who are beta testing for me are having issues replaying the FLV's within the swfs, as they keep stopping and starting before they can view them properly.
    I have a preloader on the front of every swf, so shouldn't that give enough time for the FLV to buffer before playing, or doesn't the FLV preload at all?
    I'd really appreciate some help with this.
    Thanks,
    Pippa

    Hi George,
    That's really very helpful of you!  Many thanks. However, my problem is with the FLV video starting and starting. That is being downloaded as an external file within the swf that I'm playing, so the loader widget would only have an effect upon any flash element of the swf and not upon an FLV.
    As far as I can see, the preloader doesn't have any effect upon the FLV, so if you have an FLV as the first slide, the preloader runs until the swf has downloaded, the swf starts to play, but then you get a black loading screen, while the FLV downloads.  I also have another FLV in the middle of the slideset, so when the swf gets to that point, again, I get a black loading screen until the video has downloaded.
    I'm struggling to find a solution.  It's really very important that the swf including FLV's play smoothly all the way through, as I'm producing a set of talking head training videos with quizzes and they need to look professional. I like the way Captivate produces slidesets together with the ability to produce quizzes, but I'm not sure that the video integration is so good.
    The only option I can think of is to take out the quizzes and produce those as swfs and then publish the remainder of the slidesets as mp4's, rather than swf's.
    Does anyone else have any other suggestions?
    Thanks Pippa
    Good luck with your question, George.  I'll take a look at it, but suspect that I'm more in the dark about it than you!

  • Apple TV (2nd gen) - Very Specific Buffering Issue

    I have been watching the threads regularly for a situation similar to mine but I can't see one so I am starting a new one.
    I have Four (4) Apple TVs in the house and a large library of movies, TV shows and personal movies loaded into iTunes on a Window 7 64 bit system with an Intel i7 processor, 12 GB of memory and 2TB of disk space.  Everything seemed to work OK until I got the third Apple TV but that was a year ago and several software upgrades in the past.
    My problem is that when all four (4) Apple TVs are plugged into power, even if the ones I am not using are asleep, I have horrible buffering delays when watching vidoes from iTunes on the Windows PC. I do not have any trouble streaming video from Netflix or the iTunes store directly. When the Apple TV stops to fill buffers it seems to lock up trying and never comes back (I have waited up to 30 minutes). However, if I exit out of the movie as soon as the buffering issue starts, and go back into the video where I left off - it starts playing again within 3 seconds and will carry on for another random period of time in the range of 2 minutes to 10 minutes.
    Before anyone starts responding with the basic stock suggestions, I am a retired IT guy who has put a lot of time and technical effort into trying to find the root cause of this problem. I am very familiar with networking, Windows 7, firewalls, etc.
    The work around is that when I want to watch videos from iTunes on my Windows PC I have to unplug the other three Apple TVs, restart my router and reboot my Windows PC. These three steps together work consistently but omitting any one step may or may not improve the situation. This means that I can't just decide to watch a video from iTunes without 10 minutes of advance prep work - and watching two different videos on two different Apple TVs at the same time only works about 30% of the time.
    Here is some more background information:
    I have two (2) iPhones, one (1) iPad, another Windows 7 64 bit PC, a MacBook Air, and stand alone Internet radio on my network. The problem persists even when all the other devices have been powered off.
    All devices, including the Apple TVs, are running the most current version of software and have ALL patches installed.
    I have upgraded my router (twice) and now have an ASUS RT-N56U dual band router with the Windows PCs both cable connected and the Apple TVs and all the other stuff running wireless.
    I have used netstumbler to detect other networks and have tried various different channels on the router. I am in a low density area and only see two other neighbours with wireless networks.
    I have a 20 MB Internet service connection via cable modem and have no problems watching videos on the Apple TVs from the Internet
    I have relocated the router away from any other elecrical equipment (Apple TVs all show a full strength signal)
    I have tried disabling my MacAfee Security Center virus and personal firewall software (the problem persists), then removing it entirely (the problem persists), then reinstalling only the virus protection component and enabling Windows Firewall (the problem persists).
    I have removed all software from the Windows computer that brand name commercial software - I use Microsoft Office 2010 and Google Chrome as my browser (the problem persists).
    Important - I have moved the complete iTunes library to a 2TB USB hard drive and run iTunes on my MacBook Air with the Windows PCs turned off (the problem persists).
    There is one issue that seems relevant, but might just be a bug in the router management interface. I have set up reserved DHCP addresses for the Apple TVs and the computers to make it easier to identify devices when I am troubleshooting. The DHCP log shows the correct IP addresses being assigned to the correct MAC addresses but the network map screen frequently displays two or more Apple TVs with duplicate MAC addresses. It only happens with the Apple TVs and has never happened with anything else. This is what gave me the idea to turn off all Apple TVs except the one I want to watch and reset the router to clear the other addresses - which seems to be the only consistent way to watch an iTunes video without buffering problems.
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have invested a lot of time and money in Apple technologies and setting up this home video strategy.  It's very frustrating that it doesn't work reliably.
    Thanks
    Bob T

    I too am having this issue were two of my Apple TVs are showing duplicate MAC Addresses. I have varrified this by looking at the arp -a cache on multiple machines. I believe this is a major bug in the Apple TV software. Can we please get a fix.

  • Apple TV 3 Buffering Issues using Ethernet

    I have an ATV3 that is connected via Ethernet with Comcast Xfinity.  I have 30+ dl speeds but am constantly having problems with buffering  It seems to be only movies bought through Apple.  HBO, Showtime, ESPN, Netflx, etc. all seem to work with minimum buffering issues.  I reset it, restored it, brought it in to Apple and received a new one and nothing seems to help.  It is set on automatic for IP address, for DNS, and for video playback.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank, Tony

    Those other services use adaptive streaming, iTunes content is fixed rate and needs to load a portion before playback begins. Comcast have been known to throttle iTunes/ATV traffic. Try testing on another network (preferably a controlled one like Apple's)

  • Video Streaming Issues

    Hello,
    I am experiencing some loading issues with slide videos in my project.  I am trying to determine if it is how I have the slide video setup, or if it's the environment some of our users are in.  To begin here is some further detail related to my video settings...
    Format: F4V
    Video Type: Progressive Download
    Size: a range between 4MB to 15MB
    Duration: 30 sec to 5 minutes
    Inserted as: Slide Video
    Hosted: Web Server
    I have found that any user using a internet speed less than 2mbps is experience issues viewing the video.  Is there something I can do on my end by packaging the video differently, or is it the user's Internet speed?
    Thank you for your time

    Make sure your videos are only as big (height and width) as they need to be displayed in Captivate.
    Check the bitrate at which the videos are encoded.  Try encoding them at 350 kpbs or lower to save bandwidth.
    Even though your users are supposed to be on a 2mbps link, that DOES NOT mean you can encode your videos at this bitrate.  In all probability your users are on a shared link and they may not be actually getting 2 mbps.
    Lastly, avoid having videos on the slides near the very beginning of your presentation.

  • Video Playback issues in HTML5 using IE10

    Hello All:
    We built a project in Captivate 6 and published it to HTML5. The project contains two videos that were converted to MP4.
    When running the program in Chrome, all works as expected. However when running in IE10, no video is played. Any solutions?

    I am also having a similar problem with slide videos in HTML5 projects.  The video plays as it should when the slide is viewed for the first time.  However, if the slide is revisited later, the video does not appear and no audio is played - there is just an empty space where the video should be.
    In addition, when the slide video is finished playing, it will automatically restart, replay the first 1-2 seconds of the video, then stop.  Neither of these issues occur when publishing the same presentation as a SWF, but I am developing for iOS devices and really need the HTML5 output.  These issues also do not occur if I insert the same video file as an event video instead of a slide video; however, I need the users to be able to pause video playback, and it seems slide videos are the only way to provide that control in HTML5.
    Here's what I'm using:
    Captivate 6.0.1.240
    All videos are .mp4
    HTML5 output tested in latest versions of Safari and Google Chrome with the same result.
    Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks.

  • Flv player buffering issue

    Hi Everyone....!
                  In my flv player,all the functionalities are well.But,one thing is,when player buffering the video,it will automatically taggled into paused state.After buffered full video completely,then only start playing.I was given buffering time=0.1.
    My solution::::;
                            By using the setInterval,Every minutes monitoring the loadedBytes.If loaded bytes increased 300Kb(hardcode) compared to previous loaded bytes,I will play() the video manually.
    videoMc.addEventListener(VideoEvent.PAUSED_STATE_ENTERED,pausedEntered);
    function pausedEntered(Evt:VideoEvent):void {
    var setInter=setInterval(checkBytestLoaded,1000)
    function checkBytestLoaded():void {
    var cl:Number=videoMc.bytesLoaded/1000
      if (cl>(CurrLoading+300)) {
      videoMc.play();
      preLoadMc.visible=false;
      CurrLoading=videoMc.bytesLoaded/1000;
    /==================================
    It was Ok for buffering issues.But,i cannot differentiate for both(Manually pressed the pause button and automatically paused due to buffering issue).If manually pressed the pause button ,video did'nt play due to above coding.
    Now i m waiting for ur solution.Atleast any one!!!
    whether the  buffering issues or how to find manually pause button pressed "pause state".?.
    thanks in advance...............(sorry for poor English)

    Is that the net stream class using actionscript to assign the source?  or import fl.video.*?  All i did was import the video into flash and used action script to stop playing the video when a button is clicked.  As far as video control that is.  Is there an entire method of assigning the source of the video that i am unaware?  If so can you point me in the direction and I'll learn it.  Thanks again you have been very helpful.

  • Captivate 8: Slide Videos Repeat when Publishing in HTML5

    Conditions: Slide with MP4 h.264 video (no audio track) and separate audio track. Slide action on exit is to go to the next slide. Timeline is trimmed to .1 sec after end of video (Captivate doesn't allow it to be trimmed closer)
    Issue: Slide video will play through with sound, then video will repeat with no sound before advancing to the next slide
    I should note that while all of my slides are set up the same way, only certain slides have the issue. I have not been able to determine what (if any) difference there is or if it is an issue that impacts slides at random.
    This problem has been described by other users with no seeming workaround. Any solutions are greatly appreciated!

    Thanks Shriyansh. I've emailed you with a link to download the project along with the following additional details:

    Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17358
    Safari for Windows 5.1.7

  • Slow/choppy playback - cache buffering issue

    On playback, PP6 randomly slows down and plays back choppy on visually complex shots.  It takes repeated stops and starts to clear it out.  I have troubleshot the life out of this, read every relevant thread, and tried everything imaginable to fix it.  Windows 7 pro is fully optimized.  There are no software conflicts (installed a drive with only windows and CS6)  I’ve got plenty of horsepower - 3930K in an asusp9x79pro, gtx 670 w/4mb, 32mb ram, OC to 4.5.  Eric Bowen at ADK has personally tuned the system and done a manual overclock. Memtest confirms the ram is fine. There are no hardware issues. Dropped frame indicator stays green, no dropped frames.  Switching from hardware to software mercury playback does nothing.  Rendering has no effect, nor do any playback settings. It happens with AVCHD and h.264 mp4’s as well, on short clips, not just long ones. It does not happen outside of ppro. Since I have eliminated hardware and software issues, all this leaves is Premiere.
    As Eric explains it, it is a cache buffering issue, related to how the nvidia card and ppro interact, and he sees it frequently enough.  I can't do his explanation justice, but he has offered to jump in and provide more detail if need be.
    Whatever it is, it’s ridiculous.   It is totally unacceptable to play down a sequence and have it intermittently slow down  on a system with this much power that has been properly set up by a pro.  It’s a shame, because it’s the only thing from keeping ppro/cs6 from being the best platform I’ve edited on in my 12 years as an editor.
    I’ve filed a bug report, but gotten no response.  If others are seeing it, and can file a bug report, maybe it will be publicly acknowledged and resolved.

    Hi,
    I  think I have similair problem. First of all my current specs is:
    Asus Sabertooth z77 mainboard with intel i7 2700K processor
    32 gb (8*4) ram
    120 gb ssd sata3 drive for OS and CS6
    500 gb sata3 7200rpm hd for cache files
    1 tb sata3 7200rpm hd for source video and audio
    and finally Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti with 2gb of memory
    Blackmagic shuttle io card etc
    This system were combined specially for my endless highend compositing needs and it works like a charm with all applications other than Premiere Pro.
    Yesterday I barley finished editing a short (approx 2 minutes) 1080p project that shot with Canon 5D MKII. Without using mercury playback engine application
    works fine but once I activate it all playback became really slow and laggy and sometime it freeze if I move playhead quickly.
    I only use one video and one audio track in timeline so we can say this editing scenario is a fundamental for production grade NLE application.
    My graphic processor has a lot of cuda power but Adobe doesn't support it natively so I have to edit  the famous text file.
    On CS5 and CS5.5 I done lots of 1080p project with my old gtx 480 card and I never encountered any similair problem.
    I hope my favorite and trusted software company Adobe will find the problem and will fix it soon...
    Thanks

  • Audio Video synchronization issues

    Hi,
    I have a video application that I am building - and
    previously I used FMS and TCP connections for video. Now expecting
    the latency to be much lesser with UDP, I implemented UDP in my
    application and stratus as the RTMFP capable server. I used the
    sample video phone application's tutorial do a simple sendStream
    and receiveStream for video.
    However, unlike the hosted sample application itself, my
    audio and video are completely out of synchronization - about 4
    secs!! I tried to look at the sample code to see if there were any
    special settings that were made. I could not find any.
    My questions:
    1. Did Adobe make any special tweaks in their hosted sample
    application? If so, what are they?
    2. Are there any known synchronization issues with using
    RTMFP connections for video?
    3. Does anyone else also face audio video synchronization
    issues?
    4. If none of the above is true, what do you think my
    mistakes are? Please let me know if I need to add more information
    to answer this question.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rohan

    with RTMFP, video and audio can go out of sync if the data
    rate of your stream exceeds your network capacity. video is
    currently sent with 100% reliability, so once it's queued for
    transmission, it's going to be sent (eventually). video is lower
    priority than audio, though, so your audio data gets first dibs on
    your network capacity. if the video stream's data rate is higher
    than what fits in your network (after audio), the video data will
    back up until its send buffer is filled, and new camera frames will
    stop getting captured. in the steady state, this can look like a
    multi-second offset between the video and audio.
    try turning your video rate/quality down so that it fits in
    your network capacity. video and audio should stay in sync.
    with RTMP, there's one network transmission buffer (TCP's)
    for all of the parts of your stream (audio & video). when you
    have insufficient network bandwidth, the TCP buffer will eventually
    fill up and video frames will stop being captured to compensate. so
    while audio and video might remain in sync, the total end-to-end
    latency will go up. when using RTMFP, the audio and video have
    independent transmission buffers, so in cases of insufficient
    network resources, the higher-priority audio should remain more
    timely but video may fall behind.
