Prelude update in CC seen as virus by Norton

Hello,
I have CC CS6, running Windows 7 pro and Norton 360 anti-virus version 6.2.1.5.
This morning there was an Adobe uodate for Prelude. While installing the update, my norton security flagged one of the program files (mc_config_mp2v.dll) as having a high potential as being a virus and quarantined it. However, the update said that it installed successfully (?).
Has anyone else had this experience? For Adobe - is there a problem with this file or was it a flase positive? Will my update still work with this file quarantined or will I need to try and remove it from quarantine?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

This thread details a similar problem in Lightroom and suggests you remove the files from quarantine...

the message of an adobe employee (see http://forums.adobe.com/message/4441762#4441815) indicates that this really isn't a virus and norton mistakenly detected one. i think i make a system backup and then release the files out of the norton quarantine to see if my system gets infected.

  • I just downloaded an update and my sophos anti-virus is going beserk.  It will not allow me to remove the threat when I unlock the quarantine manager and I have no idea of what to do

I just downloaded an update and my sophos anti-virus is going beserk.  It will not allow me to remove the threat manually when I unlock the quarantine manager and I have no idea of what to do.

The malware it's finding is probably Windows malware attached to e-mail messages. What are the names of some of those things? Assuming they're not Mac malware, allowing Sophos (or any other anti-virus software) to remove them could cause problems. For example, if they're attached to e-mail, removing them improperly by simply deleting the message file will leave the malware on the e-mail server, and it may very well end up getting re-downloaded when your mail client syncs with the server. It may also corrupt the mailbox.
If you actually ever see a malware name starting with MacOS or OSX (I forget which one Sophos uses), then you will need to worry, and should not assume that the malware can be completely removed by anti-virus software of any kind.

Because you need to buy iLife 08 or newer on DVD first. If you're using iDVD 05, you probably have a PowerPC Mac and can't use iLife 11.

  • Adobe Flash Player update 11 gave me a virus

The newest adobe flash player update gave my computer a virus that required me doing a system restore and completely removing adobe flash player from my system. It was sending spam emails in different languages and spam videos. It was able to slip through my virus scan in the initial download but was found after I scanned it again when I began having problems. I need flash player to do online school work, but cannot have my computer spammed, infected, and crashing anymore. Is there any way this can be fixed so I can use it without problems. Most people I know who have tried updating it have not been able to because their virus scan wont allow them to do it and it comes up as a dangerous file. Please help

Download Flash Player only from the Adobe.com website, not any dubious 3rd-party download site.
Here are the installers for Windows: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header

  • New Ipod not updating or been seen by Itunes

Yesterday I bought a new black Ipod Nano to replace the one that got broken in a freak accident. I plugged in the new Nano into my PC, go the popup stating the software on the Ipod needed to be updated. So I went ahead and ran the Ipod Updater. Then distear struck. During the update process, my PC got restarted. My Ipod got rebooted during this time. Now it will not Update/Restore or even be seen by Itunes. It shows up as a drive under Explorer (E:). While it is plugged in the PC's USB port, it displayes the "Do Not Disconnect" icon, however no updates are happeing. When it is not plugged in, I can access the menu on the Ipod. I have went through all of the "Five Rs", AND when that did not help; followed the directions in the article "Ipod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716 but nothing has changed. After uninstalling Quicktime/iTunes/iPod Updater, restarting my PC, clearing TEMP folders, restarting my PC again, then reinstalling the latest Quicktime/iTunes/iPod Updater, then restarting my PC again (getting bit tedious with all the restarts), I still cannot update my iPod Nano or transfer music to it. HELP! Right now my Nano is just a brand new 270 Euro paperweight.

    Xinh,
Since you was in the middle of updating when the PC rebooted, your iPod software is corrupt, even tho this artical talks about seeing the apple logo and the iPod not turning on, it covers damaged iPod software which you have to have cuz the update never completed before your PC rebooted
Just follow the instructions and the link "Disk Mode" in the artical to see how to put the iPod into disk mode http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61584

  • Every time i update Fire fox a Heuristic Virus called Suspiciouse.cloud.5 - loads in with it.

Every time i Try to update Firefox a Heuristic Virus called Suspicious.cloud.5 - loads in with it.

If you get a pop-up message asking to update Firefox or plugins then such a message is likely a scam and you should never respond to such an alert to avoid getting infected with malware.
*Only update Firefox via "Help > About" or by downloading and installing Firefox from the Mozilla server and never via a pop-up or link on a web page.
*Plugins should only be updated via the plugin itself or by visiting the home page of the plugin.
Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • Firefox update incompatible with add-on virus protections. Why?

I keep getting windows popping up telling me to download a Firefox update but it then tells me that a couple of virus protecting add-ons are not compatible and will be disabled. Why would I want that to happen? I exit the update request window but it keeps showing up again later or another day. How do I stop it?

Such Problems because of add-on Compatibility. when they are made ,they fall in category of such supporting version. If they are not compitable then find there updated version or choose alternate of that.
Updating firefox gives you a greater stability as well as protection from numerous threats . So Updating Firefox is one best way to sort out this problem.

  • IDS Update error - never seen

    Hi,
I'm trying to update my 4215 NIDS sig's but am getting the error:
Error: Error status returned with status str Not
Anyone seen this before? I thought it may have something to do with the CSA 4 to 4.5 upgrade I just did but I still get this error with the agent disabled.
    Thanks in advance
    Damian

The IDS is cutting off the remainder of the error message: "Not Found"
This error is reported from the end server (typically an http or https server).
Check the directory name you are using.
If using HTTP(S) then the best thing to try is from another machine web browse to the server and try to download the file. The URL you use from the web browser should be the same URL used in the upgrade command.
Also check the update name you are using.
Capitalization has been a primary cause.
Be sure capitalization and spelling matches exactly what was on CCO (some ftp clients will change all the characters to lower case when downloaded from CCO and the user will need to change them back to upper case as needed)

  • Why does the default update install add McVee Anit-virus, I didn't want it the first time?

Everytime an update comes from Adobe the "Add McVee" is automatically checked. If I miss it, the update installs McVee and screws up my computer, I already have Norton and do not need nor want MCVee. I didn't want it the first time so If you can't have the default un-check that option I will have to find an alternate or some other .

You can set the Microsoft updater to not update automatically. It can be set to update manually. Eliminates one issue. Second issue is get rid of virus checking software. You don't need it.

  • Your last update did not support AVG virus protection program. Does this newest one allow AVG

  • Fake Adobe update, now I have a virus

Menu popped up to update Adobe player. Not paying attention I clicked on it, now I have a virus that sometimes interfere with all kinds of actions.

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • Updating firmware problem with kaspersky virus protection

Hi I am a new user and I am not sure if I am using this lenovo community feature the correct way. But I am having trouble with my computer and kaspersky virus proctection and I need a little help.. I don't have a warrnty plan and I was reading that I could recieve help from other lenovo users....

    Hi tea_rioss,
I'm not sure if i understand the problem. Are you having problem updating some kind of firmware while Kaspersky is running? Are you taking about the BIOS? Could you describe a bit more exactly what the problem are and if you see some errors please let us know what the error message is and what you are actually trying to do.
It's a good idea to provide some info about your system like what kind of Thinkpad you got and what kind of OS. Also what kind of firmware you are trying to update.
Even if i don't really understand what the problem is it sounds to me like you have some issues with Kaspersky and not the computer. This is a Lenovo forum and you posted under the "Thinkpad T61 and prior T series" section so if you got some problems with Kaspersky it might be a better idea to post in the kaspersky support forum.
If you believe your problem is related to the computer please provide some info about the problem and your system as well as what you are actually trying to do.
