Prem Elem 11 Freezes

Can anyone help fix freezing of Premiere Elements 11 when it is idle or being used? Have Windows 7/ 32 bit.

ATR: My response to your questions follow:
How are differentiating between idle and frozen? There is no response when trying to activate the site. You can’t close it when selecting the “close”,“minimize” or “restore”  areas on the upper right corner of the screen. I use the “Windows Task Manager” to close “Premiere Elements 11” and start it again in the usual manner using the shortcut icon.
Does the problem exist with or without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled? It doesn’t make any difference wheter the mentioned programs are “off or “on.”
Is your computer optimized, how much installed and available RAM, [4.00 GB and 2.91 GB Usuable.how much free hard drive space (all from Local Disk C or supplemental drives as well)? Disk C: 40.1 GB free of 285 GB; Disk D (Recovery) 1.95nGB free of 12.4 GB. Have you searched for and removed pile ups of preview files, conformed audio files, and conformed video files? If  “pile ups” means edited versions of photos, they have all been deleted. I have no audio or video files.
Where are the Scratch Disks directed and how much free hard drive space is at the Scratch Disks hard drive save locations? Please see Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks. I cannot locate “Scratch Disks”. I can successfully select up to that point.
Is this problem that you are reporting "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before"? It worked when first installed within the last couple of years. It hasn’t been working properly for about a year and before installing “Webroot” and “ParetoLogic”.
When you are in an opened project - what are the properties of the source that you are importing for edit? Photos are “JPG”
What is the size/duration of your typical project? Doesn’t make any difference what the size is. It can be less than 2 MB or as much as 22MB.
Does it matter to the freezing whether the source is still or video? No.
If sources include stills, what are the pixel dimensions of the stills involved, how many of them? Pixel size is normally 4000 x 2664. I work with one at a time.
Then the usual drill...
a. Are you running the program from a User Account with Administrative Privileges? Not sure if applicable question, but I am the “home” administrator.
b. Latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer along with Premiere Elements? Version 7.7.4 is installed.
c. Video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card? Not sure if I’m answering your question but installed  is Mobile Intel ®4 Series Chipset Family

  • No Audio Plybck via 1394 Prem Elem 7

I have a DV5000 bidirectional converter taking in composite video and analog audio and outputting 1394 into the computer.  Prem Elem 7 captures fine, edits fine and creates mpgs and movs fine.  I need the ability to playback directly from the editing software.  When the project is play from the computer, it goes back down the 1394 to the DV5000 and to the compsite video port and analog audio ports.  I get video out but no audio.  There is audio present at the computer's speaker port but it can't be used because of the digital delay.  I'd rather not have to add a delay compensater since the software should be able to handle it.  What am I missing??   Thanks!

First, you'll need to confirm that that device captures your video as DV-AVIs. If not, you could be dealing with other issues.
To see if your captured video is DV-AVI, open a file in Windows Media Player and, while it is playing, go to File/Properties. You'll see the audio and video codecs there. But, if you see something other than DV listed, your device may not be compatible with this program.
If, on the other hand, you are capturing DV-AVIs -- and you can hear the audio when you play the clips in Windows Media Player -- then it's just a matter of configuring Premiere Elements audio hardware. You do this in Premiere Elements by going to Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware and clicking on the ASIO Settings button.

  • Problem with dvd capture Prem Elem 10 Trial version

When I capture video from a dvd, it only captures some files, not all using the Trial version. 40% of video did not capture. Why does this happem?

With a DVD-Video, you are only concerned with Importing the VOB files, which contain the spanned MPEG-2 Video and Audio. This ARTICLE goes into much more detail, and also lists some cases, where Import will not function properly.
Where did this DVD come from, and what software/hardware was used to produce it?

  • Cut-and-close-gap video distortion?  Prem elem 9

Hi, I have Adobe Photoshop Premiere Elements 9.
I am creating some tutorial videos on math and other topics.  I want the tutorials to be succinct, which requires me to edit out a lot of blank space.
Things look fine when I first load the file, but after cutting the video and audio up and delete-and-close-gap'ing a lot of it, the video at the end is very visually distorted.  I can't even tell what's going on and it looks horrible.
Any suggestions or tips/forwards to threads that answer this question?
sorry if this is a repost, i'm very pressed for time

You might want to take a look at this article on editing Camtasia footage: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/453044?tstart=0
There are some useful comments by Jeff Bellune, who uses Camtasia for his tutorials. Now, many of his comments were done with Premiere Pro CS3 & CS4 in mind, but much will translate to PrE, as well - just not all of it.

  • ???_Missing audio on one channel in Prem.Elem. 4 & 7_???

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem concerning Premiere Elements 7 and I can't find a solution to it. Maybe one of you had this before and is able to help me out.
I have a project with several clips where I removed the original audio and added a soundtrack file to play along. The problem is that there is only audio on one channel when I play the scene in preview. Balance is set correctly, audio file is all right. If I look at the audio file in the audio preview window both channels are visible and play just fine. If I look at the audio mixer and start the scene preview both channels are visible in the peak meter but I still only hear one channel. It doesn't matter if the audio is mp3 or wave. I looked at the audio preferences (audio output mapping): when I change the speaker setup, change right/left channel for the output devices the missing channel changes to the other side. It seems it is somehow connected to these settings. But it's the same settings as with other projects which work fine. So it's gotta be a project-related problem. It's not only in the preview missing but also when I export the scene to file. It is only with this project, but it's too much work to rebuild it. I tried the project with Premiere Elements 4, but it's the same. Other projects work fine.
I'm running it on Win XP+SP3, Intel 2,8 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia 6800 GT, MSI 865 PE with onboard C-Media 9739A sound chip, lots of HD space.
Any suggestions on how to solve this problem would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Chris.

Thank you both for your answers. The audio file is stereo with different waveforms for each channel; I just checked that in Adobe
Audition. I also checked the settings of the audio card but there's not much I can change. After these problems occured I updated the
audio card driver to the newest version available. The audio files comes from the video clip I use in the sequence originally. I severed it from the video to edit it in Audition and re-imported it since Premiere Elements hasn't that much sound editing tools. The audio file is fine. There's no channel volume effect applied to the file. As I said I can load it into another project and everything works fine. Gotta be something in this project.
Ok, ok I found it! I was playing with the audio tracks and I moved the audio file to the soundtrack track and it works! Putting it back in Audio tracks 1 or 2, one channel is missing. Very strange behavior. Or is there a way to mute one channel on a whole track since it happend to all audio files in Audio tracks 1 or 2?
Anyway, it's gone and that's great. Thank you for your help!
    Chris.

  • HELP! Prem Elem 12 High CPU usage and super slow rendering & crashing but 16gb RAm Windows & 64 bit

I have just installed PE 12. Editing a simple 30 minute project in DV (not even HD) . Have 16GB RAM Windows 7 64 bit  & Intel  i72600  3.4gig processor.
Can you give me aclue as to why this is happneing? Are there nay settings I can adjust?
I had no such problems when using Premiere Pro 6!
    Many thanks in anticipation.

Let us go through the typical drill.
    1. Have you gone to Event Viewer/Windows Logs/Application and spotted any Errors or Information that may relate to your project problems?
    2. What video card/graphics card does your computer use and is the driver version up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card?
    3. Are you running Premiere Elements from as Run As Administrator and from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
    4. What project preset have you or the project set for the project? See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and Editing Mode/Timebase/Frame Size/Pixel Aspect Ratio.
    5. What are the properties of your source media?
Video compression, audio compression, frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, file extension, pixel aspect ratio?
You say this is a DV project? Any chance you are doing DV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements Capture Window? If not, could you be importing DV AVI type1 instead of type 2 from capture firewire with another program?
    6. Have you tried working with the program with the antivirus off?
    7. You talk about a DV project. Is that in terms of import and export? If so, what have been your export and export settings.
    8. How do you have the Scratch Disks setup and did you install your Premiere Elements 12 to default location?
Let us rule in or out the above and then we can decide what next?
    Thanks.

  • Prem 8.0.1 does not recognise DV camera

Adobe Premier Elements 4.0 and 8.0.1
    Windows XP SP3, AMD 5600+, 4G RAM, 1394 connection
NVidea GeForce GT 240 video card, latest driver updates
    Sony TRV-240 Dig8 Camera
Sony camera is recognised by Windows My Computer, AVS Video Recorder and Windows Media Encoder with capture capability.
Premier only recognises camera as "Microsoft DV Camera and VCR" and does not capture.
How to get Premier to recognise camera and capture video?

Premiere Elements 4 or 8.0/8.0.1 on Windows XP 32 bit.....Yes
Are you set up with a FireWire (iLINK) connection for this DV Data capture?
Yes, as indicated by the 1394 connection statement.
From the screenshot, it appears that you only have 77 GB free space at the save location for the DV data capture. Can you point the Captured Video and Captured Audio to another save location with more free hard drive space?
Have moved to 300GB free space. no success.
Is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before" for Premiere Elements 4 or 8.0/8.0.1?
worked a few years ago marginally probably on Prem Elem 4.0.  Have rolled-back NVIDIA drivers to 296.10 dated 14 June 2012 with no success
As background if needed, please review the following Adobe document on Capture
    http://help.adobe.com/fr_FR/premiereelements/using/WS5CDA0F91-60F1-4b7 9-ABF6-E9E75F498DB2.html#WS2AF26FB5-4C63-4c46-9DB3-7249558F6528
Although it targets newer versions, the principles should be applicable to Premiere Elements 4 and 8.0/8.0.1.
    Have read, no fixes.
Please review and consider and then we can decide what next.
Have removed NVIDIA card and am using on-board DVI port. Prem 8.0 still reports "Microsoft Dv Camera" and not Sony as other programs do. What causes Prem Elem to not report Sony DV camcorder?
    Thank you, will keep trying.

  • Internal Error 2330. 1392

I just purchased a new laptop with Windows Vista with Adobe Reader 8.1.0 installed. When trying to open up an Adobe file, I received the error Internal Error 2330. 1392, C:\Program files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\Browser. I tried to uninstall Adobe and got the same error. Through Windows explorer I could not open the "Reader" folder. It said it was corrupted and i could not delete the ADOBE directly manually.
I was able to uninstall Adobe Reader 8.1.0 by first going in and changing the name of ADOBE directory under program files, but i still cannot delete the ADOBE directory directly.
Is there a way to manually delete the ADOBE directory.

  • Error message: adobe mediacore CS6 has stopped working --????

I am trying to run premiere elements 10 on a high=end pc with 8gb of memory, Win 7 Pro4-bit, massive hard drives and no conflicting software (that I can see....).
Can open up the program and use the manage module. It shows me three files that I have ready to work on. When I go to edit one of those files I get: 'adobe prem elem 10 has stopped working' and then 'adob media core CS6 has stopped working'. I can see from googling that other people have had this problme with no solution from Adobe yet. Any ideas?  And no, running some defragmenter and system check thing on my PC is not in the cards. Don't need to buy any of those guys. Really.....

After an uninstall of InDesign and the antivirus software, no solution to the problem.  I went into the startup menu and started doing selected start ups.  I was able to narrow down the conflict to the "windows management instrumentation" program.  When this is not running, I get the message that my ID has reached its activation limit and I need a new number or it needs to be deauthorized on at least one computer.  There are a couple of other programs that need WMI to run as well.  I did go in and delete the preferences since nothing I had was hard to recreate.  Can the other files in the cache be deleted as well?  Will ID look for them and recreate them such as the one in the recovery folder?  Anyway, I had one document that I have been working on be rescaled-very strange.  Everything else was unchanged.  One other thing, when I would get the error message, I would close and then reopen the document without any problem.  However, when I closed it again, even if all i did was view it without changing anything, I would get the prompt if I wanted to save the changes.
So does that help at all in narrowing down the problem?  I have reinstalled the antivirus, and it did not affect anything.  As long as I don't run WMI, I don't get the error message.
    thanks,
    Clark

  • Utility that makes jpg files with same name as avi file

I would like to have my avi files catalogued in Photoshop elements 2.0 as I do with my photos - tagging etc.
but I do not want to include the avi files in my photoshop catalogue since when backing all photos all clips would be included = to many GB ( I already back up the avis separately)
So what I want is an easy way to automatically convert a frame from an avi file and save it with the same name as the avi.jpg - so I can import that to Phel and tag it.
Any one who knows of such an utility?

    >So what I want is an easy way to automatically convert a frame from an avi file and save it with the same name as the avi.jpg - so I can import that to Phel and tag it.
    Jan,
Are you aware that the Photoshop Elements Editor has a function that will create a still photo from a frame of a video? Look at File > Import > Frame from Video in the Editor workspace.
And I think that Premiere Elements 2 may also have a function for capturing a single frame and saving as a photo file. (I don't have Prem Elem 2 available at the moment to verify that it is present in v2.) I believe that it was in Prem Elem 3 that I used this function.
However, I don't think that either the Photoshop Elements or the Premiere Elements functions satisfy your request that it be automatic. I think that you would need to invoke that command for each video clip and then choose which frame of the video.

  • Catalog DVDs in PSE organizer

    Hi folks,
I am looking for some search terms to find recommendations on how to use PSE organizer to catalog several hundred hours of personal video footage on DVD.
I've tried searching Adobe's forums, Google and Elements Village to find some clues if Organizer can be used for this.  Ideally, I would grab a screenshot from DVD, store it as a thumbnail reference the DVD name, and then be able to use tags (ideally, I'd like to use my existing still catalog tags) to lookup scenes for editing in Premiere Elements.
Again, not looking immediately for the answers in this thread - just how to find the answers if they already exist.
    thanks
    -j

Ideally, I would grab a screenshot from DVD, store it as a thumbnail
reference the DVD name, and then be able to use tags (ideally, I'd like
to use my existing still catalog tags) to lookup scenes for editing in
    Premiere Elements.
    James,
    Interesting question.
You say you have searched on the Adobe forums and Elements Village, so my first suggestion is that you add another source. Muvipix.com is a site formed by several book authors and Adobe Premiere Elements forum participants.   It has free forums and also subscription offerings. It has been a great source of Premiere Elements information for me.
    My expereince -
I have taken a screen shot of a .mpg file (containing SD MPEG-2 video from a HD camcorder) and used it to represent the video by saving the screen shot using a file name that correlates to the video file. I also used the Organizer command to modify the "date taken" field it uses for Organizer sequencing to be the same date in this screen shot jpeg as the video file from which it was taken. (Ideally this is the date the video was originally recorded.)  The screen shot can be captured from the video using either Premiere Elements or the Photoshop Elements Editor.
My interpretation of your post is that
your DVD disc is of a video DVD format: it probably has a folder structure with DVD menus and several files which contain the video. You want to effectively tag the contents of this DVD disc with Adobe Elements Organizer tags.
Because you are working with a DVD video disc (rather than my single video file on the hard drive), there are additional questions for your scenario.
So I suggest that you also post your question over on the muvipix forums at
    http://muvipix.com/phpBB3/index.php
Those forums are divided into sections and despite that fact that this started here as a Photoshop Ekements question, I recommend that you post in the muvipix Premiere Elements corner. If you don't currently have Prem Elem installed, I suggest choosing the most recent version subforum - PE version 8: otherwise choose the version that you have installed.

  • Quality problems, help

I've been banging my head against the wall for several weeks now.  Expensive camera for me, Sony HDR-cx500v.  I'm new to digital video, but not new to PC's.
It looks as if I dont have enough computer to process AVCHD: Win XP SP3 media center, HP AMD 64x2Dual 4200 2.19GHz 960M RAM... only one HD though plenty of space.
I have down converted my videos, and also recorder samples at a lower rate but the video quality is ****, completely unacceptable even by cell phone video standards.
Here is a GSpot screen of one of my lower def videos that still plays choppy in PE.  Can someone clue me in to exactly what preset I should be starting with?  It is not clear to me from this compared to the preset settings the best match.  Also, there are several lower quality video settings on the camera, but I don't seem to be able to find what the exact spec's are.
    Any other guidance is appreciated.

Can someone clue me in to exactly what preset I should be starting with?
I suggest that we not loose sight of this question in the original post.
I am using Sony's software, PMB, that came with the camera to convert
to SD MPEG2.  I have also catured some video in this format without
    converting it down.
If this video was recorded in Widescreen (probably yes) and the ouput of Sony program conversion process is a .mpg (mpeg-2) file, then
, I think the Premiere Elements project preset would be the Widescreen choice under the Hard Disk, Flash Drive Camcorder.
And I would give that preset a try. Also if you have any red lines above areas of clips on your timeline, you should render those before doing any playback within Prem Elem in order to have smoother playback.
FYI - However, even then you should not judge the quality by playback within Premiere Elements - especially on your constrained for video editing PC configuation.  Instead your final output format should be used for judging the quality.
    Steve and Bill,
    do you agree ?
    Hydroshock,
Hi again. I do come here periodically as well as the Photoshop Elements forum.  I'm still not sure - which version of Premiere Elements are you running and which version of Windows ?

  • OT - Format for a slideshow made on a PC to be run on a Mac

Over on the Premiere Elements forum, there is a person asking a question about what format to use for a slideshow video so people can play it on a Mac. He is currently using Premiere Elements 3 to create MPEG2/DVD for play on TV, WMV 800x600 format for play on Windows and he asked about whether Quicktime is a good equivalent format to play on a Mac and what parameters should be used.
Here is a reference to the original thread
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc33372/7
As I recollect there is a WMV viewer available for plan on a Mac but many people may not have it available. And since, this show is being created in Premiere Elements for its DVD and WMV formats, using a PDF file for Mac play is not really an alternative.
So I came here to ask for suggestions of formats and parameters for play on a Mac. Don't worry about whether Premiere Elements 3 could create any format that you would suggest: we can check that out over on the Prem Elem forum. Thanks for any suggestions.

If the person has an up to date system, they probably have the flip4mac plug-in, which allows macs to play most WMV files. Older macs may or may not have WMP. If they don't have it, I'm not sure you can still download it-Microsoft has stopped issuing it and recommends flip4mac instead. You will aslo find a fairly substantial number of mac folks who will not do Windows media under any circumstances whatsoever, I'm afraid.
All macs can play QT files, but again, if you want to use H264, the person would need to have a fairly recent version of QT installed.
A potential problem is that macs last a long time, so there are still many people using the old OS 9 operating system from 8 or nine years ago, and apple stopped issuing updates for that system a long time ago. Also, there are some WMV codecs that have never been released for anything but windows.
