Premature ejection (idvd but not limited to)

I've developed the exact same problem on two older Macs that I've seen discussed here before. None of the suggestions are helpful and seem to be missing the cause. In iDVD the DVD will eject itself before the burn process. If I try to create an image disc and burn it, I will get a message saying something about calibrating the right power level. This happened at the same time on my 15" (1st gen macbook pro intel dual 2.1) macbookpro and my quad core MacPro. Oddly I can burn CD with no problem.
As I mentioned I've seen this discussion several time with a lot of suggestions that miss the mark. Here are some of the suggested remedies that aren't helpful.
1 Bad media
2 Low available disc space
3 Dirty drives
I suspect that there's some kind of conflict with a recent OS update and my current OS.
Help? Out of 3 Mac's (only my late model 13" macbook pro will successfully burn a DVD) and 4 Super drive only 1 will burn a DVD...

It may be incompatible DVD media.
Or a bad DVD drive.
Since you have 3 macs that cannot burn DVDs, I suppose the same error, this likely would point towards incompatible media.

FCP Quicktime Movies works well in iDVD, but not in DVDSP

I work in a film school with several iMac & PowerMac editing suites running Final Cut Studio 2.
Every computer is set up exactly the same way, yet we are having odd problems with DVDSP on one of the PowerMacs.
From FCP6, we export self contained quicktime movies, that we then Compress, and then import into DVDSP. This system works well on all of our new iMacs, but on the 3 year old PowerMac, the resultant DVDs that it burns do NOT playback on any DVD Players at all.
Yet strangely, when I take the same QT Movie into iDVD on that computer, it burns a perfectly good DVD.
I have even tried bringing the QT Movie files and Compressor files from the Power Mac and transfer them onto an iMac and have been able to burn them fine that way as well. This is occurring with all the FCP projects on this computer.

It could be a few things, but it may be that the drive itself is dirty or going. It sounds strange but there were people on the board who ran into issues where they could burn the DVD but not play it back on the same drive. Could be something became corrupted. Also people have noticed some strange things happening if an install of Studio 2 was done over a prior installation - it seemed to be most reliable by doing a fresh OS install then installing 2. Also does the computer have all the updates to the software? Are all the computers running the same OS? Have you deleted prefs and repaired permissions?
Also check your settings on the PowerMac, are you doing a proper build/burn? Did you set a first play? Are you using the same type of media?

Not sure, but the "preview" in iDVD sometimes is great and the final product is bad, or preview can be bad, but the final product can be just fine.
So you can try "Save as Disk Image" and see if the encoded disk image will play OK with the Apple DVD player. If it's OK, the burn the image with Disk Utiltiy.
But if your audio is still bad on the iDVD disk image, go back to iMovie and "Extract audio" and then try again. You might have 12bit audio in your DV files, if so look here for other advice:

TDM vi's work in Admin account, but not Limited user

I have an app that I wrote using the TDM VIs that works perfectly in the development environment and as an executable in an Admin account in WindowsXP. I am trying to deploy the app for use in a limited user account, and I am getting an error about an unrecognized file type. Is there a way to enable this functionality?
The VI is used to create a file map of a custom TDM file that was created using the TDM header writer VIs. I've included the VI and the executable in the archive, as well as a sample file to read (select the .tdm, not the .bin in the path control when running the program).
The actual error text is:
Error -2564 occurred at Open Storage
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: The software installed on this computer does not support the file format you requested. The Storage VIs access files through plug-in libraries LabVIEW and DIAdem install. Visit ni.com to download the library you need.

The TDMS VIs probably are better, but I started this project before they were available, and I spent a considerable amount of time with the TDM Header Writer VIs to create my file format. I don't use the TDM VIs to write the files; I do that all with my own binary format that is fast and efficient. I also stripped out all the extraneous gunk that the TDM files like to put in, and customized the files with my own properties. Unfortunately, I am disappointed with the time necessary to read and write properties, but it's too late now to replace the whole system with a database backend.
Anyway, I'm hopeful that there is a solution to this problem. I doublechecked all the options in the installer and app build specifications, and I didn't see the checkbox for Storage VI Support. I have a fuzzy memory of this; is it possible that it existed in a previous version of the builder?

I can send video to IDVD but not audio...

I shot it on my video camera, imported with Imovie, sent it to garageband to add chapters (markers) and then sent it to IDVD for burning. Am I needing to check some audio button or something? The dvd burns fine but no audio.

Xvid/Divx are output files, not meant to be edited (variations of the MPEG4 codec, often used for Internet streaming video) so, they mostly do NOT edit well (if at all) in any flavor of Premiere

Footnotes or endnotes in iBooks Author???? (Including, but not limited to, trying to import a Pages document with footnotes)

I find it difficult to believe that there is no way to use footnotes in iBooks Author, but I have tried every avenue that I can think of, and cannot find the way?? It won't even copy the notes from a Pages document when I try to import it.

Seems like a wholly unique problem to your environment, in which case you may want to walk that new MB into the nearest Apple Store and ask for assistance there.

Audio in Quicktime, audio in iDVD but not in iMovie

Hi All,
I'm pretty sure the answer will be a menu setting I haven't been smart enough to find on my own, so thanks in advance for any and all assistance.
On ocassion I've taken quicktime movie file created in Final Cut Pro, imported it into iMovie - where the sound doesn't play, then out of curiousity shared to iDVD, where voila!, I have sound again!!!
What silly setting am I missing? I'm sure it's something simple I'm overlooking, argh!

New Lacie 16x DVD Burner. Burns iDVD but not SP3!

DVDSPro3 doesn't seem to recognize the new Lacie DVD burner, but iDVD does and burns disk. Does anyone know why SPro3 isn't recognizing the new burner? Cheers.

With the Panther (Mac OS X 10.3.9), you need this PatchBurn. Read the FAQ at the website. You probably can also get profile driver from LaCie.

How do I fix the server Error I get saying the server does not recognize the RETR command? I can send but not receive.

I am using the Godaddy email service with a POP account. some of my clients are working but many are showing the RETR error from the server. I have deleted the popstate.dat file and this did not solve the issue.

You could have a dead anti virus program. Nortons in particular spits it and drops conections, fails to download mail and sends wrong passwords periodically, but it is certainly not alone. When measuring 6 voltage signals in labview I found that there was a difference in voltage signals in my program but not in the test panel. The test panel is correct. What is wrong with my program?

My labview program is not displaying equivelent voltages, but labview test panel is. So the computer is seeing the correct signals. My program is displaying a small difference in 3 out of 6 channels. All channels should be equal.

Hp6520 is online for ipad but not laptop

We just received a new modem. our laptop, ipad and printer are all on line however we cannot print to the printer when we use the laptop only can print from the ipad. HELP

Since you can print from all other devices, we know the issue has something to do with the one computer. Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor on the computer as it might help us to not only identify the issue, but also to resolve it.

Is it impossible to burn a second copy of a DVD after you have burned the first from iDVD? i am using OS 10.6.8 and iDVD version 7.1.2. the DVD is inserted, then iDVD ejects it, but keeps running as though it is working but it's not.

thanks guys; but the problem is that iDVD does not want to burn a disk now from the original movie-project. i see the movie project on teh desktop and can launch it just fine - even play it through the iDVD application - but when i click burn, it asks for a disk (I insert a memorex DVD+RDL 8.5Gb 240 minute dual layer) and it ejects it a few seconds later. the IDVD progress bar still runs as though it is burning just fine - its progress drops from 18 minutes all the way to "less than a minute" and then it hangs. even if i insert a different memorex disk, it still doesn't start actually burning it. it only burned the very first memorex disk i inserted successfully. i have tried disk utility to burn from a .dmg file copy of the original successfully burned disk, but disk utility can't burn onto the memorex disk either. maybe something wrong with the super drive? thanks for your ideas.
