The "usual" suspect is an out of date video driver... check at the vendor site for your video graphics card (usually ATI or nVidia) and make sure you have an updated driver... do NOT let Windows Update do this for you
or
Field Order Reversal = Flicker http://forums.adobe.com/thread/977951
or
HP Fingerprint/Password conflict http://forums.adobe.com/thread/911575
You also need to be sure that your project matches your video... if project/video match, you will NOT have a red line over the timeline when you 1st import the video

Yes, that's the correct setting for "normal"  high definition video shot at 30fps though I think we may all be getting a bit confused.
If you want to see what FCP X can do, download the 30 DAY FREE TRIAL from here:-
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/trial/
Then to learn how to use it in the shortest possible time download these 2 hours of FREE VIDEO TUTORIALS:-
    http://www.izzyvideo.com/final-cut-pro-x-tutorial/
So within 30 minutes of reading this post you could have FCP X sitting on your desktop and be starting to edit with it  .  .  .  and all without spending a penny!

Photoshop Elements 13 program crashes every time when using my Windows 7 PC to edit and try to save a panorama jpg created on a Samsung Galaxy S5 camera phone.
However, Photoshop Elements 11 will perform and save the edits OK. What is wrong with version 13?

    Hi,
Can you please share the logs?
You can use the Adobe  Log Collector tool (Log Collector Tool) and share the corresponding zip file @ [email protected]

  • I am trying to edit a .mov video in Premiere Elements 12, but the video and audio do not sync.  They work fine when played in Quicktime.

    Hello,
I am trying to edit a .mov video in Premiere Elements 12, but the video and audio do not sync as soon as I load it into the program.  It appears to work fine in Quicktime.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. This is the plan.
Open Premiere Elements 12/12.1 to the Expert workspace.
In the Expert workspace, go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
In the Change Settings area, select the project preset
    NTSC
    AVCHD
    AVCHD LITE 720p30
OK out of there. In the New Project dialog that appears, note that it has your new project preset named.
Be sure to put a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project". And, then OK out of there.
Back in the Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace, use Add Media/Files and Folders to bring your video
into Project Assets. From Project Assets drag your video to the Timeline Video Track 1/Audio Track 1.
Is there an orange line over the content in the Timeline. See screenshot for orange line to which I am referring.
There should be no colored line over the content if the project preset matches the video properties. But, if you do see
that orange line, then render the Timeline content by pressing the Enter key of the computer main keyboard or press
the Render button above the Timeline.
Do your video/audio now play back in the Edit area monitor in sync?
Please let us know the result, and then we will decide what next.
    Thanks.

Well, there is a whole world of free or affordable software out there like GIMP, PDPaint and similar. Otherwise if you want to stick with Adobe stuff signing up for the CC photography program would be the most cost-efficient way...

  • Will Premiere Elements 9 edit and save changes to avchd losslessly?

    Hi,
I want to buy a new premiere elements to replace my old one (vrsn 3), can I upgrade it still or is it too old?
Also, will the new premiere elements 9 edit and save changes to avchd files from Panasonic and Canon without losing any quality?
I came across 'provides native support for avchd'; what does it mean? Does it mean that I can edit and save avchd files with out losing quality?

I have elements 11 on my mac and want to upgrade to elements 13 but it seems that the elements 13 upgrade is only for windows.  Is there a mac edition to this upgrade?

Yes, certainly, but if you're in the US I would just download the trial and use that for now, since there will be plenty of deals on the full version come the start of the holiday shopping season, especially at places like amazon and big box stores. Usually for much less than adobe's upgrade price.

  • Elements Organizer 10 - no audio AND no thumbnails on AVCHD files

    Hi All,
I'm running Elements Organizer 10, and am seeing some strange behavior in that, since upgrading to 10 (from 9)
    - none of my .mts files will play any sound in the Media Browser viewer and
    - new .mts files that I import into the catalog have no thumbnails
The files do have thumbnails in Windows Explorer.
I can play the files, with sound, using both VLC and Windows Media Player.
Importing the files in Organizer 9 did generate thumbnails and playback with audio.
Premiere Elements 10 does generate clip thumbnails and successfully plays audio, too.
So - it seems to be somthing very specific to version 10 and the Organizer - not machine-wide.
I noticed that playback in the Media Browser viewer invoked the Haali Media Splitter I have installed on my machine.  Thinking that might be the wrong codec, I uninstalled it.
I could still play in VLC and WMP, but double-clicking in Organizer gave an error message that no appropriate codec was installed.
So, I installed ffdshow to see if that avc codec could be used, still no luck.
Reinstalled latest version of Haali, back to same behavior (no audio, no thumbnails) in Organizer - everything else working.
So, I can work by dragging the clips from Organizer onto VLC so I can play the video with sound while tagging, but I'm concerned that it's not working and that whatever the base problem will manifest itself more seriously later.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi Steve,
    Thanks for the input...
I did go back and confirm that I'm running the latest QT for my machine 7.7 (1680.34) according to the QT Player.
Just in case, I re-downloaded the QT Installer and Repaired the installation. No change in behavior in Organizer.
I don't think it's QT that is used for AVCHD files, tho, is it? I tried to play my video in the QT player, and it won't play .mts...
Also, as others suggested, I did attempt to 'activate' the AVCHD plugin - but, didn't get any new popups or dialogs (it might have happened when I originally installed and I didn't pay attention to it)...
I had previously right-clicked on a clip in organizer and selected "Edit in Premiere Elements...", put the clip on the timeline, played and scanned thru the clip, saved the Project.  But, based on yours and the other suggestions, (I did this a few times with different clips) I created a new project, Get Media from Files and Folders, loaded a clip, dragged to timeline, played/scanned, double-clicked to bring up the previewer in Element - everything works as expected.
Back to Organizer - same behavior as before.
Uninstalled Haali again, and tried all of the 'plugin activation' steps again.  No change except Organizer still complains of not having the required codec.
So - for some reason, the organizer thinks it should use the Haali Media splitter as the codec for avchd - everything else on my machine seems to be able to find a more suitable codec - vlc, wmp, pre all work fine.
Did some more surfing on the forums, and found some references to Premiere Pro using the Haali media splitter (?).
So, one other piece of info - Prior to Elements 9, I did have Premiere Pro installed on this machine.  Very nice, but overkill for what I want to do.  So, I uninstalled it prior to installing Premiere Elements 9.  Everything worked fine w/ 9, but not with 10.
So - is there some way to determine which codec Organizer is using and/or force it to use a specific one?
Is it possible (seems likely with the symptoms) that there was some configuration file or registry entry left over from Pr that is now directing Organizer to use the same codec that it previously used (instead of the default)?
Thanks all!!  Normally I'd be able to figure this out, but am pretty new to 'the inner workings' of Pre.
    Thanks,
          Scott

  • Slow motion  Adobe Premere Elements

    I am new
at this, and am not good with computers. After asking for a user friendly video editing program, the guy in the store handed me this Adobe Premere Elements program. I don't understand much of the lingo in this forum, and the tutorials are mumbo jumbo to me. Let's say that I am very challanged here.
I am able to make a simple video and add music, this I'm happy with. Now I want to add a short scene to a new video, and make that scene be in slow motion . I found the time stretch button to click on (it looks like a clock), but can't seem to get it to do anything. I drag the scene that I want to stretch, but it does not stretch.

The forum where you've posted this is for the picture-editing Photoshop Elements.
There is a separate forum for Photoshop Premier Elements you could have gotten to by using the dropdown list on the main forums jump page which isn't that obvious.

Premiere elements 7 can it edit t.v. shows recorded on a DVD?
WOw the guy at the store said this was easy to use but I'm not having much luck.  Wanted to edited a t.v. recorded on a dvd.  Transferred it to hard drive but the sound is way behind the video part.  Any ideas?  Thanks

If you have tried repeatably and unsuccessfully to rip the VOBs from the DVD-VIDEO on a DVD-R or +RW using the Premiere Elements 7 (Get Media/"DVD (Camcorder or PC DVD Drive), I would strongly suggest that you use MPEG Streamclip to convert to DV AVI. Then bring the DV AVI version into Premiere Elements 7 via Get Media/Files & Folders from the save hard drive location of the DV AVI version.
MPEG Streamclip should take care of quality as well as any audio out of sync issues.
    http://www.squared5.com/
You have two set up choices
Free...MPEG Streamclip + QuickTime Alternative (which contains the required MPEG-2 Playback Component), BUT you need to uninstall your regular QuickTime to get this to work.
    OR
Partially Free...MPEG Streamclip + your regular QuickTime + purchase from Apple of the MPEG-2 Playback Component
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
If you are going to being doing this type of a project on a regular basis, it might be worth the investment of going the partially free route.
Are you in a NTSC or PAL area? If you need a step by step for the MPEG Streamclip route, it will be supplied on request. I use it routinely. It is quick and effective.
    ATR
(Add on...when ripping VOBs from DVD-VIDEO have you ever tried: (1) placing your DVD in the DVD burner drive tray (2) Premiere Elements 7 Get Media/"DVD (Camcorder or PC DVD Drive) (3) using the Media Downloader to bring your VOBs to the Premiere Elements 7 project? Or, are you doing something else?)

  • PREMERE ELEMENTS 8 - BLUE SCREEN CRASHES

I am having issues with this software when editing and attempting to burn a DVD. I have been able to use this software in the past, but it has been awhile since the last time I usede it.
Most recently when using the software to edit or add media the software would freeze and the screen would lighten and the cursor would swirl in a circle. Then a screen woul pop up and ask me slect to close program or wait. I simply click close and reopen the saved file and keep going. The amount of time and the particular thing I would be doing at this time seemed to vary before locking up. The PC seems to be fine. So, I just had to reopen software and saved file.
Although, 100% of the time when I try to burn a DVD I get a BLUE SREEEN crash after 95% completed of "encoding media". Although, I was able to burn the file to the PC by selecting "Folder 4.7gb" without any trouble.
I am at a loss at what is causing these problems. Any ideas on what I sould check or do?
Here is some informtion on my system:
Using Photoshop Premere Elements 8 with the update installed.
    Windows 7 Sp1 64 bit.
    8Gb RAM.
Several hundred Gb free space on hard drive.
AMD Phenom II x6 1100T Processor
    Sapphire HD 5770 video card

    Good news!
ATR has handled the Auto Analyzer and Background Rendering.
Do clean everything, and check that all fans are operational. Heat is the enemy of the CPU and GPU, so a clean, open airway, around those, with all fans working properly, is paramount.
My full tower case workstation has 6 additional fans installed, giving me a total of 10. Two are in addition to my CPU and GPU fans, and are specialized to feed air across those. For my laptop, I use a Zalman Cooler Pad, though that computer is on a slatted teak table, with plenty of space to assist air flow - I add even more air flow with that cooler pad.
As an addition, should heat NOT be the culprit, and you encounter a BSOD later, in that article, that John T. Smith linked to, beyond the hardware issues listed, there is one other major cause for a BSOD, and that is a bad low-level driver. That article goes into detail on tracking down such an issue, via researching the Windows Event Viewer. If Speedfan is not showing heat, you have checked out the RAM, the PSU, etc., and all are good, then follow the steps to track down that BSOD, and probably through that Event Viewer's Log.
In very specific terms, an Adobe program cannot directly cause a BSOD - BUT, it CAN stress the system, to the point that something else DOES cause the BSOD. It is not the Adobe program, but some weakness that is stressed beyond what it is capable of. The Adobe program might also call for a bad low-level driver, that most other programs do not call. As heat and mechanical problems, and then low-level drivers, are the prime causes for BSOD, those areas are where I look first.
Last, with the problems that you have recently encountered, you might want to take a moment, go to the AMD/ATI Web site, and check for driver updates for your Radeon card, and your particular OS version. If you do not have the latest video driver installed, download and install that.
Glad that the Project HAS been burned to DVD, so that part is good.
    Good luck and happy editing,
    Hunt

OK there are two related as I see it.
Each of your pages consists of a solid, opaque bitmap for a
    main image.
Master Pages, by default, are at the bottom of the layer
    stack. Your
tabs ARE present, you just can't see them because they are
    covered up by
    the bitmap.
Assuming you don't have those page images as multi-object
    elements,
where you can edit the blue backgrounds, there are still two
    things you
can do, both of which are pretty easy.
Go into each page and temporarily reduce the opacity of Layer
    1.
Use the marquee tool to draw a selection around the area of
    the tabs.
    Delete the selection.
Return the lay back to full opacity.
    OR
Try dragging the Master page to the top of the layer stack in
    each page.
Hide or delete the Master page background.
This option is a little trickier, but I was able to do it.
    Wait for the
black bar to appear before you release the mouse. You may
    need to try
this a few times before it works.

I am working in photshop elements 13 organizer, album view, and would like to resequence (rearrange) the photos shown in the album but am unable to do so.  My understanding is that you can click on the phots that you want to move and drag it to a new location within the same album.  After i select the photo that I want to move and click on the photo, I get a cirlcle with a diagonal throught it and am unable to drag the photo to its new location.  What am I doing wrong?  I know this should be a simple thing to do.  Thanks

    Jimmy RG
    In the Elements Organizer 13
The key to all this is to click on/select/highlight the Album that you have created in Local Albums.
Then make sure that the Sort By: (in the row below the highlighted "Media" header is set for Album Order.
You should see a number at the top left of each of thumbnails.
Then, click on the thumbnail that you want to move, hold down the click, and drag the thumbnail to the wanted new location
in the line up of thumbnails.
Often I had to press down hard on the drag.
Please let us know if that worked for you.
Also, in Edit Menu/Preferences/Keyword Tags and Albums/Enable Manual Sorting Options, I set all for manual.

  • Photoshop Elements or Lightroom for editing Jewellery?

    Hi there,
I am new to photo editing and wanted to know the best software that's best for editing jewellery. I am really not sure if Lightroom or Elements would be best and would appreciate anyones expert advise and experience.  Maybe there is another software package more suitable, would appreciate anyones help.
    Many thanks
    Kate

As said above, definitely not Lightroom.  You can't make the most of shiney things without selections and layers.  As to whether PS or PSE would be better, well the problem with asking that here is you probably won't find anyone who knows anything much about Elements.  But if put on the spot, I'd say get a monthly CC subscription.  You'll never grow out of it.
