  • Canon SX50 AF Point Zoom

I just got a refurbished SX50 because they were out of parts to repair mine. On my old camera I had always been using AF point zoom, but on my current one the option is greyed out. How can I get it to turn back on?

According to the user manual the AF point zoom display will not magnify when using digital zoom or tracking AF, so I would check those two settings.

  • Marking Source In Point Zoom the clip since update CS6 6.0.4

Since I updated Premiere CS6 to 6.0.4, the source clip (in the source window) zoom in each time I mark an in or out point. I have to drag the little grey bar to zoom back the entire clip in view.
I tried changing keyboard shortcuts to default Premiere CS6 and others but it's doing the same thing.
What's up? Am I the only one with this behavior?

...I generally find that I take my best footage from the middle of clips. I get everything set at the beginning, and let it run long to make sure I get everything. But the center is usually the sweet spot of the clip.
Steven, I am afraid you have completely missed the point.
In the above images I have a one minute and fifty one second
production music audio file loaded into the Source Monitor.
The Source Timeline is zoomed out to include the entire clip.
The Playhead is parked at one minute and fourteen seconds.
After marking an in point, only the first thirty six seconds of the
audio clip is visible in the Source Monitor, and the marked in point
has completely disappeared out of view.
It would not be as bad if at least it zoomed in to center
the marked in or out point in the Source Monitor view.
Try dealing with that for a couple of days of real editing.
    Or, use CC7.

  • How to keep the image centered in the window when mouse zooming in cc 2014

I,m not able to keep the image centered in the window when using the mouse scroll wheel for zooming.

Ctrl + and - keys are meant for "center zoom".  As far as I know, the zoom tool is a "point zoom" tool. If you move the zoom tool with your mouse, it will zoom in on that part of the image.
Also Ctrl 0 is "fit to screen" and Ctrl 1 is 100% zoom. (Use Cmd if this is a Mac)

  • Zoom/shrink controls

    Gentlefolk;
I have some very large screenshots (1600 pixels by 900
pixels) that I am using in a training application.
As the movie plays, I want the option of being able to have
the entire screen within a browser window (shrink to around 1000
pixels or so) but be able to zoom and pan to specific areas of
interest when the user wants to see the detail.
I am stumped about the approach. How do I accomplish this?
Turn the entire series of screen shots and audio into a movie clip,
then tween the size of the movie clip? But where do I go from
    there?
    Thanks!

    I'm new to APPLE.
My trackpad functions stopped working after a few months. The settings say they are all on, but they are not functioning. Any ideas on what I can do to get these back (especially the zoom/shrink). Thanks

  • Get rid of pop/tick in a segment?

    Hi,
i'm new to GB. running 09.
Here's what im trying to do.
I have an MP3 song from a band im working with, and need to take the intro to one of their songs and loop/stretch it out to about 30 seconds for a video im working on.
I think i have the basics down, but I get annoying pops/ticks between the portions I am repeating.
How can I "smooth" this out?

you need to refine your original edit so that the cut is at a zero-cross point. zoom in and far as you can to try to see where the waveform is at zero and use that as your looping point.

  • Placing vertical lines evenly spaced?

In CS5, I have a rectangle and want to place 2 or 3 vertical lines on the right side of it to divide some icons that will be placed within each of the areas divided by the vertical lines. What is the best way to ensure that the lines are evenly spaced within that area?
    Thanks.

Turn on view >>smart Guides (so a checkmark is in front of it)
Turn on view >> snap to point
Zoom in close, so you can watch as your cursor changes in the next step
Select  one of your small vertical lines and  option drag and drop a copy to the right end of the blue gradient
Select the the 3 vertical lines
Click on distribute as in the first example (your 2 small boxes in the gradient are now the same exact width)
Delete the 3rd line I had you create (it was just used as a tool to help the align palette distribute the space evenly)
Center your 2 white icons in the space

  • Having problems importing AVI files

I am getting an error message when trying to import an AVI file.  I converted a whole batch of MOV files to AVI files because when I imported the MOV files into Premier Elements 9 it would only play back the first five seconds of audio on each clip.  Now, only about 4 out of the 20 AVI files will import.  With the other files I get this message "This type of file is not supported or the required codec is not installed."  WHAT THE HECK!!!!!!  They are all the same type of file converted from the same type of file at the same time!  WHY THE HECK will adobe import a few (and play them back fine) and not the rest!  I am seriously in tears.  I HATE  Premier at this point.  All I want is to put our family videos on DVD.  I have spent HOURS just trying to get Premier to recognize the clips.  Seriously?!?

The main conversion program, that I use, is shareware, DigitalMedia Converter (Deskshare), and I have an older version, 2.7, that has been replaced. My older version cost US$ 49, IIRC.
For MOV files, I often use Apple's QuickTime Pro, with is an upgrade/unlock, that costs ~US $29.
With those MOV files, what CODEC is used in them?
There are certain CODEC's, often seen in the MOV wrapper, that are Mac-specific, and there is no PC version available. The FCP AIC (Apple Intermediate CODEC) is one of those.
If one has SD (Standard Definition) material, on a PC, the ideal format is AVI, but specifically with the MS DV/DVC CODEC. Those files will Import perfectly, and edit smoothly.
Now, when it comes to CODEC's, I always recommend finding out the exact CODEC needed, and then downloading and installing only that/those. I always try to go "to the source" for my CODEC's, and will pay for a commercial CODEC from the originator, rather than install some free version of it. I also shun any CODEC "packs," as many can cause all sorts of problems.
Please let us know what the CODEC/CODEC's is/are, and then perhaps we can offer a bit more direction.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premiere 6.5 mpg-import audio-sync problem

I use a Sony Cybershot digital still camera (DSC-P41/P43) for my films (it's all I have currently). Before I bought a 2 GB memory stick, according to the manual it recorded in mpeg-1 in "standard" resolution only (imports as ".mpg"). With the 2 GB stick, however, it now films mpeg-1 in "FINE" resolution also.
I was using WMovieMaker just fine for "standard", but after beginning to use "fine," WMM began to crash with only 1-2 minutes in the timeline, and took forever to load projects and mpg files.
So I permanently switched to using Premiere 6.5, since, although it seemed to be too heavy of an editor for my PC (with Windows XP Pro 2002 SP2 and an AMD-k7 processor, 698MHz, 640 MB RAM), I discovered it actually handles the files without crashing.
HOWEVER, after rendering to avi, the AUDIO IS +/- 15 FRAMES AHEAD of the video. I've tried reading through all the forums, adjusting all settings to match, etc., to no avail. Any suggestions?
2--Although I don't do any direct captures in Premiere because my camera's so simple and I just copy its files to a folder in Windows, then import to Premiere, there's a serious problem with my capture settings windows, settings viewer, etc.
Every time I click on the Premiere capture settings box, the program crashes completely, to the point of having to reboot the pc. I just can't understand this ...
Any words of wisdom are most welcome.
Thanks in advance for taking time to read this.
    Don

    Don,
OOS issues are common with MPEG-1 & 2 files in Premiere.
Now, it's usually a constant OOS, and not a "drift," in that once you fix it, it does not change later in the Duration of the file. That is good news.
Please hang with me, as I do not know Pr6.5, so some of this might have to be interpolated.
First thing that I'd do would be to add 02 sec. of Black Video to the Head of the Clip. I'll tell you why in a moment. Now, turn Snap off. Look for something in your Video, that will have a sound to go with it. A CU of a speaker is ideal. A slate/clapper is even better, but you likely do not have that. Once you have found your "sync point," zoom in on the Timeline quite a bit and Alt-click on the Audio Clip and slide it in the direction that you "think" will improve the sync. Test. Slide again. Test. Repeat, until you have it nailed down. Once you have sync, you should be good to go. Note exactly how many frames you nudged the Audio. Repeat with other Clips and start with that amount of nudge.
The reason for the 02 sec. of Black Video at the Head is so that if you have to nudge the Audio to the left, you want a bit of room. Once done, the Black Video can be removed. If you did nudge to the left, you will want to address the Audio portion there. Most likely, you can just trim it.
You can possibly get around the OOS problems, if you convert these files to DV-AVI Type II in a thrid party conversion program.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
[Edit] I see that Eddie has posted the link to file conversion programs. Many in there are freeware, and most get very high marks. Those links will help you, if you choose the conversion route and that is a better workflow in most instances.

  • Enregistrement continu

    Salut

  • Editing in PE8 suddenly VERY sluggish

    Ya'll,
I've been editing with PE8 for about a year now, generally satisfied, though I did experience a bit of "stickiness" in editing from time to time (by that I mean when attempting something, PE8 would lag behind a little in dragging or zooming in or out or whatever). Not enough to prevent work, but a little annoying.
Partly in an attempt to solve that problem, I recently purchased a new machine: quad-processor, 2.9 GHz, 6 GB RAM, 2.5 TB, Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The video is integrated. And I certainly saw some definite improvement.
    Until last night.
My editing is mainly "homemade" music video, (www.chuckpuckettsongaweek.com). We record a live performance of a song, and also make a board recording, then I mix the the audio into the video, add titles, credits, etc. It's a 3 camera shot, so I generally add some cross-fades from camera to camera for variety. Nothing extraordinary at all. Last night, however, trying to edit essentially the same sort of project, PE8 turned into molasses! I mean, minutes to do the simplest thing (even placing a copntrol point takes forever). And this is for a 3.5 minute song.
There are 2 differences in this project, differences I would not have thought to have this kind of drastic impact.
Normally, I replace the audio on the "primary" video clip with the sound board audio (the other clips have their audio removed). In this project, I added the board audio as a separate clip, and kept the primary video's audio, with it's volume at -10dB (this gives me a little more "live room" sound).
In this project, rather than cross-fading betweeen all 3 clips, I horizontally offset two of them, so they play side by side. This is one constant offset, NOT a dynamic move during the video. Then I'd fade in/fade out the 3rd clip a couple times.
This whole process took FOREVER. Just setting the control points for the fades was painful. Pressing the Play button meant waiting for minutes to get any response. I actually rendered the whole thing thinking that might improve editing response. Which it did, until about the 2nd edit. For what it's worth, Task Manager showed PE8 as consuming ~25-30% CPU time (when I appeared "frozen", waiting for a mouse click to take effect), and using ~1GB of memory (a modest memory consumption it seemed to me).
I really can't edit like this. And I really can't understand why the editing is suddenly so slow. It's been very responsive before, at least for the simple things I'm doing. In my frustration, I actually went looking for competing products (Power Director, Pinnacle). I certainly want to stay with what I've learned (and paid for), but not at the cost of impossible editing conditions.
I appreciate any help anyone can offer, or enlightenment as to what to investigate

It's 2 MTS files (AVCHD) and 1 MOV file. Like I said, this mixture has never
been a problem before. Also, the one rendering that I did do took A LONG
TIME (another surprise, considering quad-processor and 6 GB RAM). And did
not appreciably improve the editing performance except for the 1st couple of
edits (not even edits, really: placeing control point, zoom operation).
Here's a surprise: doing the render took a long time, but creating an MPG
file (which obviously requires another render) was only a few minutes.
Is there another way other than Opacity swaps to cut from clip to clip? I've
had videos in this same series that had MANY more cuts (this one only had 2)
with no problems. Also note: the editing issues were there BEFORE adding the
Opacity swaps. Hell, it was almost impossible to add the Opacity control pts
to do the cut, the editing repsonse was ALREADY so slow.
That's why I wondered if the horizontal offsets permanently employed on 2 of
the clips had any effect. That was the only real "new" thing here. But like
I said, these were not dynamic moves. I offset the clips once for the whole
video. I would have thought that would be optimized.

  • N97 Video recorder...your kidding ...right...

OMG are you serious, the video recorder on the N97 sometimes freezes and its not focused...Everything is blurred!!! and theres no point zooming in because you can bearly see anything!!!!
    n97.

I don't see how a Windows Defrag will solve the problem as:
    1. its not a hard drive. flash doesn't have this issue as there are no moving heads.
[Wrong, even though there's no moving heads, it still has to butterfly seek to get the data off if heavily fragmented slowing it down]
    2. the phone its self does not use a windows os so it wouldn't make any odds to it if it was fragmented from a windows point of view
[what's windows got to do with it?  it's a FAT 32 drive, your harddrive can use FAT32/NTFS or any other kind of partition]
    3. symbian manages files differently.
[It still has to read/write, the more jumps and seeks it has to do the slower it's going to read data due to the slow CPU in the N97, more seeks more work slower things become]
I never said it would fix it, i said it's worth a try as it MIGHT fix it if it's heavily fragmented, constantly adding, deleting
    files, music, videos....
