Premier Elements 11 - "no burner detected"

I have recently upgraded from elements 9 to elements 11. The software is installed on my lap topPC which runs on Windows 7 64bit.
The programme is working perfectly except for when I try to burn a project onto a DVD. When I select share and burn to DVD I get a message saying "no burner detected". I had no problem with version 9 on the same lap top from which I was able to burn a DVD without any difficulty. Funnily enough, if I select to burn as AVCHD the disc burner is detected.
The lap top is an Asus N55S intel core i7 - 2.2 Ghz with 6GB ram
I hope someone can offer a solution to this perplexing problem
Thanks
Brian Saberton

Thanks to both Bill and Steve for your replies. Apart from Windows explorer I don't have any other DVD burner software on the computer. I have downloaded and installed some non-critical updates, including the most recent driver for the graphics card, but it has not resolved the problem.
I tried burning to a folder and then burned from the folder to a DVD using Windows explorer but the disc will only play on my computer and refuses to play on any of my DVD players. I have a friend who had the same problem with a disc burned using Pinnacle and he thinks this is probably something to do with Windows 7.
I  also happen to have Elements 11 installed on my desk top PC which is also running on Windows 7, with explorer the DVD burner, and here I have no problem in burning a project to DVD directly from Elements. (Until recently I used the desk top for all my video editing but it won't handle HD very well so I'm using the lap top for any HD editing)
I'd prefer to be able to burn directly from Elements on the lap tp but I  guess if I can't fix the problem I'll have to opt for another burner, so thanks for the information re Imgburn. I'll let you know how I get on.
Your help is very much appreciated
Brian

That Photoshop Elements 9.0.3 Update has generally been discouraged by the Photoshop Elements gurus. But, I am not going to factor that into this at this point.
This is what I would ask you to look at in the Elements Organizer 9 accessed from the Photoshop Elements 9 or Premiere Elements 9.
    a. Create your slideshow in the Elements Organizer 9/Create/Slideshow/Slideshow Editor. Then use the Output option of Edit with Premiere Elements.
From your description, you are probably using the Output Option of Burn to Disc DVD which will take your slideshow directly in the Disc Menu section of Premiere Elements 9. The preferred transfer of the Elements Organizer 9 slideshow to Premiere Elements 9 Editor is by the non wmv route "Edit with Premiere Elements" not the wmv route of Burn to Disc DVD.
Let us explore if any of the above is involved in your issue and then we will decide what next if necessary.
    Thanks.

  • Premier Elements 12 Cannot burn DVD Get error message of internal software failure

Cannot butn DVD with Premier Elements 12 Get error message of internal software failure.

    Great news JMD103.
There should be a big red pop-up, when one adds a Stop Marker to the end of the Timeline, saying "Do NOT do that!" That Stop Marker will almost always yield a failed Project output to DVD.
    Good luck, and happy editing,

  • Adobe Premier Elements 10. Burning Issues!!

I am curently using PE trial. I have edited AVCHD footage from my Panasonic HD video camera using Sony Vegas and used Sony Vegas to render to m2t with a view to burning using PE. The file size is 8GB. I have selected in PE Share: AVCHD. Pal Widescreen. Fit content. At 99% the burning process stops and a message tells me about Chapter Overflow and the burning process ceases.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem please?
Secondly, frustrated by this, I tried to burn the same video rendered via Nero recode to mp4. The file size is just over 3GB. This burned to disk fine until it reached 99% before returing to 95% and then completing the burn. At 35 minutes of the 49 minute video the picture began to stick jump stick several times before sticking on one frame.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem please?
I have used Sony Vegas as an editing programme because Pinnacle, who I have been using for years, inform me that for some reason Pinnacle HD does not work with Dell computers.
I had always used Nero for burning edited video until I downloaded Nero 10 HD free trial havingchanged my camera from SD to HD. When the trial ended some information debris was left behind in my computer and despite attempts to get info from Nero on how to get rid of it ie Nero Clean, it still remains there. I purchased Nero 11 last week and that will not burn either for the same reason. Internet forums indicate that Adobe was the best option to go for, hence using the trial version of PE 10. Now this.
    Help welcome.

If your Nero installation included the Nero InCD component get rid of it. It, and those of it's competitors (eg Roxio DLA), are well known to cause PRE write errors.
Did you place a Stop marker at the end of your timeline? If so remove it. The end of the timeline is automatically treated as a stop marker and adding one there can cause burn failure.
Try the Burn to Folder option for your project. Does that work?
If all you are trying to do is to use the PRE burning engine without any authoring  you should give the completely free ImgBurn a try - it's pretty much the standard tool a lot of us use.
If though you want to use PRE to create your movie and then author it some more information would be helpful, especially concerning the camera, its shooting mode, how you got it into PRE, details of your computer and drivers ...

  • Premier Elements 1.0 burn error---repeatedly! Advice?

I've made a 12 minute slideshow with low-resolution pictures, some video clips, and a background song.  I have very general transitions (dissolve) and nothing what I'd consider to be fancy.  When I go to burn the DVD, it gets almost done, then just says "error" and spits the DVD back out at me.  It gives me no error number, details, etc.  What could it possibly be?  I can't seem to get it to burn at all.  I know this is a very old version, but I have eventually gotten my DVD's to burn in the past (not sure how!).  Any advice?

Still not much detail to work with, iceskates.
Any chance you can provide us the results for every step of the process?
Meantime, if Nero is failing to burn, that seems to indicate something more fundamental with your operating system. Make sure your operating system is up to date and that you have the latest Quicktime. And go to your DVD burner's manufacturer's web site (not your computer manufacturer) and ensure you have the latest firmware for your drive.
And ensure that you have 30-50 gigabytes of free, defragmented space on  your hard drive.

  • Premier Elements 8 unable to detect HI8 video camera

I am running windows 8 and have just loaded in Adobe Premiere Elements 8 and the program does not recognize my Media source which is a Sony HI8 Video camera Model CCD-TRV328 NTSC (Which is a 8mm video tape recorder). I am using Dazzle DVC100 as an interface. Is there any way I can get Elements 8 to recognize my media source>>>>

Am I correct that the Sony is an analog tape camera, and not Digital 8?
If so, then it will be the Dazzle, that PrE will need to see. Unfortunately, many users have never gotten the Dazzle units to function well. Once, Dazzle was sold by Pinnacle (might still be by Pinnacle's parent company, AVID), and usually bundled with some form of Pinnacle Studio - even when using that, many users never got the Dazzles to work. See the Pinnacle/AVID forums, to see if that has gotten better.
I would do the capture through the Pinnacle/AVID software, if you got that, and Save the captured files to DV-AVI Type II, if the Pinnacle/AVID can do that. Then, Import that into PrE for editing.
    Good luck,

  • Premier elements 10 can't find a burner when using Windows 8.1 Would using a USB disc burner solve the problem?

Using Premier Elements10 with Windows8.1, the program cannot detect a burner. I understand that Windows8 designates the burner as a DVD in order to facilitate drag and drop. I don't want to get too technical and want to know if purchasing an external USB disc burner will solve the problem. Will premier elements be able to detect this burner OK. I don't want to spend the money unless I am fairly certain that it will work.

    marion567
There is no guarantee that you will not get a blank field for Premiere Elements Burner Location using any internal or external Blu-ray DVD CD burner or DVD CD burner.
If you go with an USB external burner, just make sure you have the back up of return/money back from the seller.
If you are dealing with just a DVD CD burner, you might try the following if you have not already
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cd-dvd-drive-recognized-application.html
You might also want to consider an uninstall/reinstall of Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 8.1 64 bit following the scheme of
    a. uninstall the usual Control Panel route
    b. free ccleaner run through CCleaner - Download
    c. reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled
The following is the Adobe document that goes to Supported Devices
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/kb/supported-devices-premiere-elements.html
Updating on that unknown. Right now, it is what it is. I have burners that work fine in Premiere Elements on
Windows 7 and 8.1 64 bit and they are not on the list.
Please let us know if any questions on the above or need clarification.
    Thank you.

  • PSE 7 with Premier Elements 7

I am upgrading to PSE 7, mainly for performance reasons. I currently use Premier Elements 4 to burn DVDs only.
Is there a compelling reason to upgrade to Premier Elements 7 at this time?
    Thank you for your input.

    >Is there a compelling reason to upgrade to Premier Elements 7 at this time?
Now I am guessing that your workflow is that you are creating slide shows in the Photoshop Elements slide show editor and then sending the slide show to Premiere Elements to burn the video DVD for playback on your TV DVD player.
Do you use the Send Slideshow command to send the slide show over to Premiere Elements ?
-- If yes, then my understanding is that you need the "matched set" of PSE v7 and PRE v7.
Or from the PSE Slideshow editor, do you use the Burn to DVD function?
-- I think that this will work from PSE 7 to PRE 4, but unfortunately I don't have a way to test that and confirm it for you.

  • I want to create a HD disc with my Adobe Premier Elements but I am getting low resolution.  When I go to share the DVD to disc the form only offers 8pixels at the bottom.  How do I burn this DVD in HD with higher number of pixels?

I want to create a HD disc with my Adobe Premier Elements but I am getting low resolution.  When I go to share the DVD to disc the form only offers 8pixels at the bottom.  How do I burn this DVD in HD with higher number of pixels?  I have read other forums on burning HD DVD's but I do not see the option to turn the 8 pi into 40 pi the one forum recommended.  I want my DVD to be HD so I may sell these videos online for my business.  I can't sell them the low quality they are burning now.  Hopefully you can help me.  Thanks.

    desalvom
    Thank you for your reply.
You cannot burn your high resolution video that you can view on your computer to an AVCHD on DVD disc
that will replay through a regular DVD player. But players are marketed under a variety of names with
different support opportunities. One manufacturer may call its product MultiMedia Player, media player, Blu-ray player,
etc.The bottom line is the specifications for each of the players that are candidates for the playback of
the AVCHD format on DVD disc or the format of interest.
If you upload your HD (1920 x 1080) video to YouTube, YouTube converts the video to flash format, but it goes up as the HD video.
But, beware. Look at the YouTube viewing setting when your uploaded video is playing back. The YouTube default is not
HD. It might be 360p, 480p. If you have a 1080p video, then before the YouTube playback, you should be looking
at the video with the YouTube 1080p HD setting for best viewing. That is a YouTube matter.
    Best results depend on you
    a. setting up the Premiere Elements project preset to match the properties of the source media. That means, if
you have 1080p source, you (manually) or the project (automatically) set the project preset at
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR [email protected]
or the PAL counterpart, depending on your region need.
    b. if you upload your video to YouTube using the Premiere Elements feature, there is a HD preset, but you cannot
customize it.....if you need customization, then you can export your Timeline to a file...in this example
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets = MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080p30 or PAL counterpart
and then customize the preset under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of that preset. In increase quality, you might look to increase
the Bitrate under Advanced Button/Video Tab settings - without compromising the file size.
Then you would upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site.
All of the above are factors that need looking into in order to determine the why for what you wrote
I have published a shortened advertisement video to YouTube- say 5 minutes-
    and it is low quality
Often SD video upscaled to HD can present poorly. But, you are dealing with a HD workflow so that should not be introduced into the matter. The setup of the project and
the properties of the source video are important, but let us start with the above and rule in or out those considerations first.
Thank you. As always, any clarification needed, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • Adobe Premier Elements 12 - Exporting trimmed AVCHD files from the project timeline, to a separate folder for burning to Blu Ray disc with other software?

Hi, can anyone help please.  This is the first time I have used this forum.
I use Premier Elements 12, a PC, 64 Bit, Windows 7, high powered computer.
Just started trimming AVCHD in this software.
I would like to know if it is possible to export trimmed AVCHD files to a folder elsewhere (files which were originally imported into the project timeline), so that I can burn the trimmed AVCHD files (not in 'Project' form)  to Blu Ray disc (using another software which I know that works to burn video files to Blu Ray disc).

Thanks for the update. Your progress sounds very good.
Premiere Elements 11, 12, and 13 are similar. But, version 13 has significant feature removals and a new Elements Organizer.
So, when viewing or reading tutorials, try to determine the version of the program being used for the tutorials. As I typically write
principles tend to remain the same from version to version, but the features tend to move, change, or be discontinued from version
to version. And, it is frustrating to be armed with principles when you cannot find a feature.

  • Adobe Premier Elements 7- crash-when burning says" Please insert a blank disk" and already a disk in

I have a Adobe Premier Elements 7. I have had a lot of problems with it of crashing and not burning.. I just had my computer wiped out and installed everything back on like windows xp service pack 3..etc. First I have Windows XP service pack 3 with an Intel Core 2CPU ,6400 @213GHz, 2.13 GHz, 1.98 GB of RAM.  When I went into disk menus premier elements 7 crashes... why is that??? also I tried to burn a DVD and does the progress of burniing and almost done burning WHILE there is a dvd in the drive and says"Please insert a blank disk and click ok to burning" why doe sit do that also? I just had adobe reinstalled and my computer wiped out? Please respond and help.. I am using this program as a business of video editing and nee this solved.

Along with Steve's questions, let's talk about the process of Burning a DVD-Video.
From PrE, which is doing the authoring of the DVD-Video, the first thing that happens is a quick check of the Project and the Menu Set chosen. This happens in an instant. Next, the program must Transcode the Timeline to MPEG-2 that is fully DVD-compliant. This takes some time and is a very intensive process, stressing the computer, and also heating things up greatly. This process will often cause a poorly ventilated, or poorly cooled computer to crash with either a reboot, or a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). Every component, save for the video card, will be stressed like few other programs can do. PrE uses a 2-pass Transcode, where it goes through the entire Timeline, and maps out sections with high motion, or great detail. It builds a "script" on how to proceed, and then goes back at the Timeline with that script, but also still looking for ways to improve things. This is about 90% of the entire Burn Disc process. Nothing has yet to be burned. Instead, files are created in the Scratch Disk folders. Now, the program takes those newly created MPEG-2 files, the Menus, and all navigation such as Markers, and assembles them into another working folder, in the full DVD structure of VIDEO_TS folder with the IFO, BUP and VOB's. When this is done, the actual physical Burn starts. This is quite a ways into the total process. It is at this point, that the program looks at the burner and the blank media, and not before.
When the program cannot get the necessary info from the burner, or the blank media, it will throw an error message, similar to yours. Also, "SenseCode Errors" usually indicate a problem with the burner, or the media.
Now, let's address this last bit. Is the firmware for your burner up to date? If not, update/flash the firmware. This will be available from your burner mfgr's. Web site. Next, what brand of blank media are you using? Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden are the most recommended brands. Memorex, TDK, newer Ritek and all store brands should be avoided at all costs. Last, is your burner a fully-certified multi-drive? If so, it should be able to handle +R, or -R media. What type are you using, and are you sure that this is blank media, and not a disc that you have already burned, or even attempted to burn?
Hope that we can stop the crashes, and get you to burning.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Quality problems when burning a dvd with Premier Elements 11

I purchased a while ago, but just recently installed Premier Elements 11.  I previously had 9 and 10.  11 was great until I burned to a disc.  The quality is very substandard. Have you come up with a fix for this?  I have read many other complaints about the quality of burning.
Until I can get a fix, I have uninstalled 11 and gone back to version 10.

    Irene
Thanks for reporting on your results. Much appreciated.
Do you have the opportunity to record 1080p instead of 1080i? If so, we would be interested in the results. But, for now, just some miscellaneous comments.
    1. What are you using to apply the pan and zoom effect?
    Pan and Zoom Tool
Keyframing of the Motion Position property for Pan and Motion Scale property for Zoom
Presets under fx Effect/Presets for pan or zoom.
Are you applying the same pan and zoom effect to each of the photos?
If so (an not using the Pan and Zoom Tool),
Pan and zoom one photo, then copy/paste effects and adjustments for a group selection of the rest.
If using the Pan and Zoom Tool, then consider
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE11: Pan & Zoom Tool, More Than One Photo at a Time
This is acceptable for a few photos, but the increased duration that it will add to the Timeline content may make it prohibitive.
