Thanks for your recent posts detailing your TImeline issues. Because of the varied remedies and setbacks with which you are dealing with, let us recap for a moment about some basics so as not to take anything for granted.
Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 8.1 64 bit
1. What is the video card/graphics card that the computer uses and is it up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card? Does you Device Manager/Display Adapters area show 1 or 2 cards?
2. Review your settings under Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware ASIO Settings.
3. Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file, and, if necessary, the whole 12.0 Folder in which it exists.
Local Disk C

AppData
Roaming
Adobe
Premiere Elements
12.0
and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
4. Do a ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry part)
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
5. Assure that you do not have pile up of preview files, conformed audio files, or conformed video files.
See Libraries\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Elements\12.0 and Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files Folders (for preview files), Media Cache Files Folder (for conformed audio cfa and pek).
See Edit Menu/Preferences/Media and the Media Cache Database area Clean button.
6. Generally check Scratch Disks for location and free space at the location to which each is directed.
See Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks.
7. General question...how project specific have these issues become?
Please review and let us rule these factors in or out.
Thanks for the follow ups.

  • Windows shuts down Premier Elements 9 randomly

I have a more than adequate Windows 7 based computer.  My hard drive died before Christmas and I had to reinstall the software.  I created a new project with captured video and added some background music.  Did not save often unfortunately and lost it all when windows shut down the program.  Recreated it from scratch, saving often and still had occasional shut downs while creating the project.  It's only about a 30min video with some added sound tracks and a few title screens.  Now, when trying to make a DVD, it gets through Encoding 4 Menus and will begin encoding media.  Sometimes makes it 7% sometimes 80% and then windows message says program has stopped working, shutting down.  I see progress bar was still moving just seconds before the shutdown.  Tried to convert to an MPEG and save on my computer instead and got the same shutdown notice.  I just saw the FFDShow codec note and have not checked to see if that is on my computer or not.  Would deleting this folder potentially solve this?  Forgot to mention, Premier Elements is on non partitioned C drive with 100+GIG free space, save location is on a partitioned drive F with 300+GIG free space.

Is there an update link for Premier 9?  I saw one come through this morning for 9.0.3 but the one in your "Hangs UP" thread is only for 9.0.1.  Tried to update to 9.0.3 but would not connect to Adobe server this morning.

This first thing that I would do is to gather more information, and post it to this thread. See this article on the types of info, that would be so useful: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3220274#3220274
Also, take a look at this FAQ Entry, on PrE Hanging & Crashing: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/792580?tstart=0
Good luck, and let us know a bit more, please.

  • Adobe Premier Elements DVACORE.DLL Crash

Premier Elements 12 keep crashing on startup or shortly after startup with the same error message.  Here's the problem details:

    Windows 7 64 bit with 16GB RAM.
Processor is an Intel Core i7-2760QM 2.4GHz
Display is an NVIDIA NVS 315
Here is what I have done so far:
    1. Updated the latest graphics card from Nvidia website directly (manufacturer)
    2. Tried installing older legacy versions of the driver (11 or 12 previous versions)
    3. Uninstalled antivirus (McAfee)
    4. Reinstalled antivirus and checked instances for programs
    5. Checked Nvidia control panels and changed stereoscopic and 3D settings
    6. Running in msconfig (safe boot with minimal resources) I did this to see if a service or process would be causing the crash
After reading this software's forums and a several other suggestions (spend probably over 40 hours on reading and trying fixes) there doesn't seem to be a fix for this. What is the cause of this crash?

Thanks for the follow ups. Sorry that the news were not better.
I am not sure how worthwhile it might be, but here are some possibilities
    a. create a new User Account with Administrative Privileges and try to install and run Premiere Elements 12 there.
    b. Download and install a new set of Premiere Elements 12 installation files...or for 13 for that matter...
    http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-12-direct-download-links-premiere.html
    or
Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 Direct Download Links, Premiere too | ProDesignTools
When you go this route, you need to read and carry out carefully the web page's "Note: Very Important Instructions"
in order to avoid an Access Denied message.
The history on the dvacore.dll is encouraging. But, please review and consider.
Please update us on your progress when your schedule permits.
    Thank you.

  • Premier Elements 4.0 Crashes when sharing to DVD

I have PE4.0 running on a 32-bit Dell XPS-420 with Vista. It crashes every time I attempt to burn a DVD with "Premier Elements has stopped working...." message. Here's what I know about the issue:
    1. I recently installed SP1 for Vista. I was always able to write DVDs before, but since I haven't done it for a while, I can't tell if the SP1 install had an effect on the problem.
    2. All my other applications (Windows Media Player, Magix Movie Editor, Roxio Creator 10, etc.) are able to access and write to DVDs just fine
    3. All other features of PE4.0 seem to work just fine.
    Any suggestions?

Roxio could be the issue. Try uninstalling it. Also see this thread, even some of the files the uninstall leaves behind can cause problems:

  • Premier Elements 12 organizer crashes with Lesson 01 video

I recently upgraded to Premier ELements 12 & Photoshop Elements 12. I purchased Classroom in a book for Premier Elements 12. I followed the instructions in the book to load Lesson 01, and now the organizer crashes every time I start it. I tried to rebbot my PC, then shut in down & restarted. Did not help. I have an I7 chip 2600 running at 3.4 gigs, 10 gigs of ram, 2 gigs of video ram, and 1.5 tb free on a 2 tb hard drive. Help!

    Ted
    Thanks.
Your Field Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives is in order.
The second screenshot shows your "System Information". It compares to what I have, exceptions include I have Windows 7 Professional SP2 64 bit, I have 8 GB installed RAM.
So, then I ask, "If you explore the Local Disk C" do you see something like what follows?
Do we agree as far as to get to Users in the list? Were do we differ after that so that you do not get to:
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Elements Organizer
    12.0
    Organizer
As said, what we are after, the psa.prf file, is in that Organizer Folder at the end of the path shown.
Knowing the details of just how far we both follow the same path may help us to decide why the difference and if there is any reason to suspect an incomplete install of some Elements Organizer components.
In the course of your Premiere Elements installation, did you ever encountered any Shared Technologies errors?
    More later.
Looking forward to further exchange of information.
    Thanks.

  • Please Help - Reducing pixel density on existing slideshows so that Premier Elements does not crash

    Hi,
I have been having trouble creating a DVD using a combination of PSE 6.0 and Premier Elements 4.0. I have created several slideshows in PSE, and was combining them in PE 4.0. I was having trouble as I added slideshows, and read the following that indicates my problem is sending overly dense files to Premier Elements (http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bb8822c).
So now, I need to change the pixel width of all of the photos and get them back into the slideshows. I can't find an efficient way to do this. Any help would be appreciated.
    Issues:
    * Slideshows appear to take the top Version of a file. This is a nice new feature (from 4.0)
    * I can process multiple files in the editor, but I can't save them back into the version set (if you know how, please tell me!)
    * I found a (slightly cumbersome) way to save the new files back in a stack with the original photos. BUT Slideshow does not appear to use the top file in a stack (only top version)
SO... Any way to modify all the photos, and have them get back into each slideshow as I created it originally (without having the go through each slideshow, and add the new photo, and remove the old, and set the timing and the transitions...
    Please help!!
    Thanks,

Eitehr your Windows installer is damaged or you run without sufficient user privileges. Run Windows Update to repair the installer and make sure to run as admin. also turn off any security stuff temporarily.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 running on and does the computer use a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card?
Please read the Announcement at the top of this forum on the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Ge Force issue which forces the user to roll back the driver version to around May 2013 in order to work with Premiere Elements 10. For your convenience, the following is a copy/paste of that Announcement.
Announcement:Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are
experiencing Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of
troubleshooting needs to be rolling back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained
workflow glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video
card. If this applies to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as
far as is necessary to get rid of the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013
in order to get a working Premiere Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this
regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1317675
Older NVIDIA GeForce drivers can be found
    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us
A February 2014 overview of the situation as well as how to use the older NVIDIA GeForce drivers for the driver
    roll back can be found
    http://atr935.blogspot.com/2014/02/pe10-nvidia-video-card-roll-back.html
Do you run the program with the AutoSave feature On? If so, please check the Adobe Premiere Elements AutoSave Folder which should be (by default)
in Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/10.0 Then right click the latest AutoSave for this crashed project and select Open With Adobe Premiere Elements 10.0.
Where do you save the project.prel for this project?
Can you go to that hard drive save location (probably LIbraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/10.0), right click the project.prel file, and select
Open With Adobe Premiere Elements 10.0.
If necessary, I will post instructions for deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary, the whole 10.0 Folder in which it exists.
We will be watching for your details and results.
    Thank you.

  • Premier Elements 4 very slow and frequently crash

    Dear Adobe support staff,
I've purchased Adobe Premier Elements 4 several yeard ago for an urgnet job I made.
I didn't use it much because it crashes all the time, and it is very very slow and frustrating. So I've used other software instead.
Needless to say that I was very dissappointed.
Now, I want to give it a second chance. but it stiil keep crashing and still very very slow.
    My questions:
    1.  Why does it  crash all the time?  is there is a fix for the problem?
    2.  What kind of  Graphics Card or Video Editing Card do you recommend for my system to work relatively normal ?
    3.  How much will it  cost me to upgrade to version 11 ?

For the crashing, this FAQ Entry might be useful. It starts with a general PrE checklist, then goes into computer and OS tuneup, and ends with many links on troubleshooting and finding causes: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/792580?tstart=0
As for the GPU, any current video card, with at least 1GB of VRAM, will work well. PrE does not place much of a load on the GPU, but it DOES rely very, very heavily on the video driver. Both nVidia and AMD/ATI issue constant driver updates, with nVidia leading the way at this moment.
Also, while talking about drivers, some users have experienced issues with Win8 drivers. I would wait until SP1 has been released for Win8, before changing to it from Win7. For this reason, I just ordered a new laptop, and specified Win7. As the company, ADK, only builds custom and semi-custom video editing machines, they commented that they will ONLY install Win7 at this time, and have been testing Win8, since the first beta. They do not think that it is yet ready for "prime time."
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - I still use PrE 4.0, but on XP-Pro SP3, and have only crashed it 2-3 times over the years. At least 2 times, it was due to OE on my part. However, my computer is tuned and built for video editing.

  • Adobe Premier Elements 7- crash-when burning says" Please insert a blank disk" and already a disk in

I have a Adobe Premier Elements 7. I have had a lot of problems with it of crashing and not burning.. I just had my computer wiped out and installed everything back on like windows xp service pack 3..etc. First I have Windows XP service pack 3 with an Intel Core 2CPU ,6400 @213GHz, 2.13 GHz, 1.98 GB of RAM.  When I went into disk menus premier elements 7 crashes... why is that??? also I tried to burn a DVD and does the progress of burniing and almost done burning WHILE there is a dvd in the drive and says"Please insert a blank disk and click ok to burning" why doe sit do that also? I just had adobe reinstalled and my computer wiped out? Please respond and help.. I am using this program as a business of video editing and nee this solved.

Along with Steve's questions, let's talk about the process of Burning a DVD-Video.
From PrE, which is doing the authoring of the DVD-Video, the first thing that happens is a quick check of the Project and the Menu Set chosen. This happens in an instant. Next, the program must Transcode the Timeline to MPEG-2 that is fully DVD-compliant. This takes some time and is a very intensive process, stressing the computer, and also heating things up greatly. This process will often cause a poorly ventilated, or poorly cooled computer to crash with either a reboot, or a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). Every component, save for the video card, will be stressed like few other programs can do. PrE uses a 2-pass Transcode, where it goes through the entire Timeline, and maps out sections with high motion, or great detail. It builds a "script" on how to proceed, and then goes back at the Timeline with that script, but also still looking for ways to improve things. This is about 90% of the entire Burn Disc process. Nothing has yet to be burned. Instead, files are created in the Scratch Disk folders. Now, the program takes those newly created MPEG-2 files, the Menus, and all navigation such as Markers, and assembles them into another working folder, in the full DVD structure of VIDEO_TS folder with the IFO, BUP and VOB's. When this is done, the actual physical Burn starts. This is quite a ways into the total process. It is at this point, that the program looks at the burner and the blank media, and not before.
When the program cannot get the necessary info from the burner, or the blank media, it will throw an error message, similar to yours. Also, "SenseCode Errors" usually indicate a problem with the burner, or the media.
Now, let's address this last bit. Is the firmware for your burner up to date? If not, update/flash the firmware. This will be available from your burner mfgr's. Web site. Next, what brand of blank media are you using? Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden are the most recommended brands. Memorex, TDK, newer Ritek and all store brands should be avoided at all costs. Last, is your burner a fully-certified multi-drive? If so, it should be able to handle +R, or -R media. What type are you using, and are you sure that this is blank media, and not a disc that you have already burned, or even attempted to burn?
Hope that we can stop the crashes, and get you to burning.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premier Elements 3 crashes when 'Burn' button clicked or 'Export to DVD' selected

After compiling a slide show in Premier Elements ( including rendering, previewing, saving) and I then try to either “Burn” or “Export to DVD” the programme immediately shows “Adobe Premier Elements.exe application error.  The instruction at 0X0000000 reference memory 0X0000000.  The memory could not be read.” OK or Cancel immediately shuts the program down and can’t be re-opened until the computer is re-started. On shut down a second message is displayed “The instruction at 0x00f96cb7 reference memory at 0x00000000.  The memory could not be read. OK to terminate.’ I have replaced the RAM. I have repaired the programme many times with my original disc. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the programme many times. I have uninstalled Nero in case of a conflict. These fixing attempts seemed to have stopped message 2 appearing and the programme can now be restarted after it crashes without having to reboot. I have not been able to cure message 1, it crashes completely at any attempt to ‘burn’ a DVD or ‘export to a DVD’. I can use Windows to burn other discs without problems. I have previously burnt many other slideshow DVD’s without problem.
I cannot find anything similar to this fault in PE forums.
    Hope to find some help.

    Rosemary,
Trying to remember the full article, I do not think that I used too much "jargon," but in case that I did, I'll give you a quick distillation. You might want to still read on, as much more will be covered in that article.
When one starts a Project and then does a Save, a file is written to the location that the user chose. That file is [Project Name].prel. That file uses a computer language called XML. In the article, I show and example of a little bit of that language. That file ONLY contains a series of lines that link to the location of all Imported Asset files - the AV files, the still images, etc.. Those links are to where the various files were located on one's computer, when they did the Save. Next, there are a series of instructions for PrE to work with those linked Assets. These might be along the lines of "cut Shot_01.AVI at 00;00;30;00 and then again at 00;00;45;00," or "apply the Gaussian Blur Effect to Shot_02.AVI." Things like that. PrE is what is called a non-destructive NLE (Non Linear Editor) program, in that it never directly does anything to your original Assets, but only to the info gathered from them though those links. Your files are untouched, unless you were to do an Export/Share to that location, with the exact same name.
The .prel file only has some programming language inside. It is basically a database of links and instructions - not one Asset. It is not until a user does an Export, or Share (those terms basically mean the same thing, but in later versions, some of the old Export functions are now only under the Share tab), that any playable file is generated from PrE. Until then, there is nothing to play, only to Open in PrE (so long as the linked Assets still exist).
I hope that this makes sense. Many users are under the mistaken impression that Save will yield a playable file, or that one can play a .prel file. That is not the case, as explained above. This question has come up often enough, that I did the article to point out the differences, and give some tips on how to really get what one wishes.
After you read through the article, please do not hesitate to post any questions. What I want is something that is useful to all, regardless of their level of computer expertise, or their knowledge and familiarity with PrE, or any other NLE program.
    Just let me know,
    Hunt

  • Premier Elements 13 crashing whenever I try and use the top menu? Why?

Recently purchased Premier Elements 13. I am in the middle of a project and although I can edit the timeline if I try to do anything from the top menu it simply crashes and closes the programme down. Any ideas?
I am using a PC Windows 7. Have all the updates and installed Quick Time. What else can I do?

Sort of a check list to make sure that nothing got overlooked by me along the way...
    1. Did you double check the video card/graphics card's and its driver's control panel offered you in the computer to determine if there are some settings there that you could fine tune?
    2. Have you created a new User Account with Administrative Privileges and installed and tried to run the program from there? I think that we mentioned that but
I am not sure of the outcome on that - whether it was put off temporarily or done and found not to matter.
    3. Did you ever work with new source of installation files?

Remember to read and carry out carefully the web site's "Note: Very Important Instructions" to avoid an Access Denied message.
Do you have any video editing or special programs on your computer (maybe even special plug-ins or codecs that you installed) that
might be candidates for interfering agent.
