Premier Elements 7 Video Frame Size

Does Premier Elements 7 Video Frame Size support 1920 x 1080i?

The usual input source is a Canon HV20 i.e. HDV, tape. This camera highest config setting is exports 1920x1080i (+ mpeg)

  • Customizing video frame size

I have to produce a video for a web site and the webmaster tells me my video must be 181x121 (height x width). If I simply resize or scale my finished video (which is 480x720), everything looks distorted.
Is there a way to crop the video frame size to exactly 181x121 ? I realize I will be throwing away some content, but that's okay.
    Thanks and regards,
    Warren

There is no way to do that in FCE without a third party compressor.
You can do it with a work-around using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. You them to create a multilayer image in the size you want. Import the image, which will come in as sequence. Place your edited video inside the sequence. It will probably scale to fit the screen. Scale it up and adjust the position to fit the frame the way you want it. Export it without rendering may save a recompression cycle.

  • How do I create a title whose size matches my video frame size?

    How do I create a 1920x1080 title?
I'm using Premiere Pro CS4 on Windows 7.  I created a default title.  If I right-click on the title in the Project Explorer and select properties, it says:
      Title Size: 720 x 480
      Pixel Depth: 32
      Pixel Aspect Ratio: 0.9091
If I drag this title onto a sequence onto a sequence created from the "AVHCD 1080i30 (60i)" preset then the title is automagically scaled to try to get it to fit into the 1920x1080 frame, resulting in a tiny title centered in the frame.  I can make things better by right-clicking the title in the timeline and selecting "Scale to frame size", but that's not a particularly elegant solution (and the title, as displayed in the title editor, still doesn't exactly match the title displayed in the previous monitor).
How do I create and edit a title whose size matches my video frame size?

Thanks guys!  I created the first title in a 640x480 sequence and didn't notice that I had the option to fiddle with the frame size when I created it.  Subsequently, I created new titles by duplicating a previously created title (which I had set up with desired font, effects, etc.) and just changing the title text in the title designer.  This worked great as long as I was making titles for a 640x480 sequence.  But when I tried to use a copy of this title in a different sized sequence then things got weird on me.  I spent way too long trying to find the option to resize the title before I finally gave up and decided to spend the time to figure out how to post a question in this forum.
Just to verify how things work, I verified that the size of a new title does, indeed, default to the size of the currently selected sequence.  No idea what would happen if I had multiple sequences displayed simultaneously.
Any idea how to change the size of an existing title?

I just installed version 12 of Adobe Premier Elements on my Windows 7 (64) system and am unable to open Video Editor.  I receive a message that the display driver is not current and a newer version would make the program run more efficiently.  After some time, the video editor stops trying to load.  I have verified all windows updates are loaded and that I have the most current Quicktime version.  I have also unloaded and reloaded Adobe Premier Elements but this issue continues to persist.  Please assist.

  • Dropping larger video frame sizes into timeline at 100%

In FCP6.0, I'd like to drop a 448x252 video onto a Sequence set at 320x240, but I want the larger original video to remain at 100% scale. By default FCP will reduce the size of the larger video to fit (~70%). I can easily set it back by setting the Scale back to 100% in the Motion Tab. But that forces yet another render.
Is there a way to tell FCP to drop in a larger video without reducing the scale to fit? I've already unchecked "Always scale clips to sequence size", and set Auto Conform Sequence to NEVER, but it seems to make no difference. Am I missing something obvious?

I'm fairly certain that those new-to-FCP 6 settings that you speak of are only for clips smaller than the sequence frame size.
Larger clips will always be scaled to fit into a sequence.

  • Why doesn't firefox resize my video to correspond with the video frame size?

    Hi,
I'm trying to find a way to render a video to both IE(8) and FF(3.6.12) in the same size(dimension) for both video frame and video itself.
I have the latest basic real player installed and using the following code, the video plays in both browsers but only in IE does the video dimension match the frame size.
    <pre><nowiki><object id=RVOCX classid="clsid:CFCDAA03-8BE4-11CF-B84B-0020AFBBCCFA" width="150" height="160">

As you will see if you paste this into a text editor, save as .html and render in both browsers, FF renders the file much bigger than IE.
    Thanks for any advice.
    Jim

That shouldn't be a surprise because you set the dimensions different for Firefox: width="150" height="160" for IE versus width="350" height="460" for Firefox
    IE:

  • Warp Stabilising footage after changing the size of the video frame size

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone could resolve a problem I'm having with Warp Stabiliser in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. So I'm editing a video for a client and unfortunately a few scenes feature some camera shake, which don't look that aesthetically pleasing so I'm trying my best to get rid of the shake using Warp Stabiliser. I altered the frame size of the video from 1920x1080 to 1920x800 so I can have the 12:5 anamorphic look, however when I try to use Warp Stabiliser now a message pops up saying that it requires clip dimensions to match sequence and that I can fix it by nesting. I'm confused by this, I was wondering if anyone could help me by letting me know how to get round this, cause I would hate to have to do the entire video agin just because I altered the frame size. Thanks a lot.

For the warp to do its thing the clip needs to be the same as the sequence settings.
If not you get a warning like you have experienced. The only way to solve this is to nest the clip and then apply the warp to that nest.
On a side note i would edit everything in 1820x1080 and on export make it 1920x800.
For reference in your edit you can make a pillerbox matte in the titler.

  • Premier Elements Video Degradation

    The Background.
For the past three years, I've been dabbling in video projects and have learned to become pretty good at it (if I do say so myself).  I own three Sony Handycams now (Model number DCR-DVD650) which record onto memory cards, not mini dvds.  I've gotten so good at the videos that they are now earning an impressive, part time salary for me.
Here's the basic problem:  I take the video using the HD setting (I want quality video, not quantity).  When I important the video from the camera to my computer, they are .mpgs.  I select the videos that I want and merely discard the 'wastes of time.'
When I attempt to add the 'raw video' (that's what I call them) to my Adobe Premier Elements project, a window pops up that says 'Unsupported Audio Rate in File.'  So, I use the Sony PMB Video program (which came with the Camera) to convert the videos to .WMVs.  Then, Adobe will happily accept them.
By the time I am done with the project, I render the video project to a .WMV and then post it on Youtube, Facebook, etc.
    The Challenge
When I begin the project (at the point of the videos within the camera), I could not be happier with my work.  By the time the videos make it through two conversions, a rendering and a YouTube filter, they lose 50% of their quality.  So eventhough the video project is completed to my satisfaction, I often receive comments like, 'David, GREAT video!  But when I maximize the video on YouTube/Facebook, it gets really grainy.'  Other people comment - 'You make GREAT videos.  Too bad you don't have a good enough camera.'
    The Question.
How do I get the 'raw' video from the camera to the Premier Elements project without losing quality?  I really want to take the crisp, vivid from inside the camera and insert it into the Premier Elements project as it is.  What can I do to make this happen?  Is there another software system I can purchase?  Perhaps a trick from the backend of the video?
    The Disclaimer.
Although I have vast experience taking video and my editing skills are worthy of bragging about, I probably do not have 1% of the techincal jargon embedded in my brain.  Simple solutions, please.

Thanks to the both of you for your assistance.  I won't like and pretend to understand everything that you are mentioning.  I certainly have no ego to bruise in this department.  I am the founder of a very large organization that began helping businesses in an attempt to get customers.
    Version of Pre Elements
Two years ago, I purchased Pre Elements 1.0 off of Ebay for $25.00 and began learning the basics.  Now, two years later, I have version 4.0 and recently purchased 7.0.  I haven't downloaded 7.0 yet.  There's so much to learn!
So now, local businesses are willing to pay me to continue making more videos for their businesses.  Now, my value is beginning to outweigh my knowledge.  Time to really learn this stuff (video making).
Barb O., by 'what type of project', what do you mean by that? I've reviewed the preferences section and I can't ascertain how the project is 'identified.'
Anyway, as I mentioned before, the videos (right out of the camera) are beautiful - crisp and clear. If I can learn how to take the 'raw' video and merely convert it so I can use it on Pre Elements, I can render the final product as a Mpeg and go from there.
Like I said earlier in this thread, everyone loves my videos but merely wishes that the end result was much 'crisper.'
Is there maybe another video making software system that is more 'forgiving' in terms of accepting raw video from the cameras?
And I want to say again.....thank you for your comments, assistance and advice.
    David

  • Any way to change the video frame size once imported into fcp?

I have an edit that was done with 2 cameras. I wanted to create a multiclip edit but the size of the video from the 2 cameras are different. One file is 720x480 and the other is 720x486. My sequence is 720x480. Is there a way to adjust the 720x486 footage while in fcp to match the 720x480 footage without re importing the footage.
    Thanks

first determine what you want your sequence dimensions to be. 480 or 486. if it's 486 then just take your 480 clips and scale them slightly so they will the entire frame. if your sequence dimensions are 480 then you shouldn't need to adjust your 486 clips.the FCP manuals suggest that your footage will look better upscaling them with Compressor rather than in FCP. but it all depends on what your delivery is.

  • Help! How to change the video frame size during RTP transmission

    Hi there.
    In a RTP transmission:
How can I change the size of the frames of the video while I have the processor in the server running?
i.e. while the server is running, i want to change a video from 400x200 to 200x100
    Thanks

I am trying to implement the same functionality. I've tried to reset the format using the trackControl.setFormat method but this only appears to be supported while the processor is in a configured state. I'm still investigating, but if you happen to know a solution please let me know.
Here is what I'm trying to do... In the middle of a session, I'm trying to change the video format from h263/rtp:352x288 to h263/rtp:176x144

  • Premeire Elements video frame to high res jpeg?

    Hi,
Does anyone know if Premiere Elements can be used (and let me know how) to capture and imported video or dvd frame, and
then convert the frame to a high resolution jpeg that can be used to print like a 8x10 photo?
    Thanks
    Greg

    Steve Grisetti wrote:
You can pump pixels in and Photoshop Elements will do its best to estimate what the new pixels should look like. But you obviously can not create detail where none exists. A 640x480 photo blown up to 1280x960 is still just 640x480 real pixels doubled.
And  if the camcorder was handheld the original may be blurry to start with.

Don't save it as jpeg - that will compress the image, probably undoing any work you have done to tweak the image as best you can. Use a lossless format - tiff or psd.

  • IWeb Video Frame Size Limitation?

I can't seem to be able to place a movie into iWeb that is any larger than 640x360. It seems that when I try to drag something larger than this into the program, then part of the video gets cut off. Is this a limitation of iWeb '08? Is there any way around this? Does anyone know if this gets fixed in iWeb '09?
    Thank you.

The default page width in iWeb is only 700 px wide for some reason.
I use a "standard" page width of 980 px because this will fit most screens without the viewer having to scroll horizontally and also translates well to the iPhone.
If you increase the page width to a bit wider than the size of the width you want the movie, then it will stretch.
This is done in the Page inspector Layout menu.
It also helps if you "Show Layout" from the view menu or do Shift - Command - L.
This will show you the edges of your page.

  • Premiere Pro CC reports that video frame size is 720x480, however it's really 1920x1080

The end result is I'm getting black bars across the top and bottom of the video when the video should be consuming the entire space.
The source media is 1920x1080 resolution, and Premiere agrees when I check the properties of the file in the timeline, however for some reason the black bars are still being inserted.  If I go to Sequence > Sequence Settings though, it reports that the video is only 720x480
If I change this value to 1920x1080 Premiere just blows up the video beyond its normal resolution making it look pretty bad/pixelated
What exactly is going on here, how can I get Premiere to just use the original resolution size of the video?

    Thank you,
I changed the Editing Mode in Sequence Settings to "Sony XDCAM EX 1080i (HQ) And it automatically picked up the correct resolution and exported correctly.
